fantastic wedding day

How people can give bad reviews on this hotel i cannot understand. we have recently married at this hotel and can honestly say that it was a dream and fantasy come true, the wedding and co -ordinators were fantastic and could not have done more for us. From the moment we arrived the hotel, staff and location could not have been better. This hotel beats any 3 star rating by far and should definitely be a 4 star or 4 + star. the food was excellent. do not listen to any bad reviews, we had come across them, but chose to ignore and make our mind up for ourself and i can honestly say that if we were to get married again tommorow this is the hotel we would go back to.

Not for me !

Oct 2009, Fuchsias

Went to the Cavo Maris for a week’s all inclusive in October 2009.
First impressions on arriving at reception were good. Reception and bar area were very clean. Allocated room was also clean but somewhat tired. Carpets and décor could do with an update.
As per most hotels fridges and safes have to be paid for as does a kettle!
As we had arrived too late for lunch we were advised that we could have a snack in the main bar. On looking at the menu there was very little choice, looked at the menu for the pool side bar (Better choice) was advised that as we were all inclusive we would not be allowed to order from here (One of the very strange all inclusive options).
Swimming pool and pool area were very clean and tidy. The waitress was able to remember your room number within 48 hours of arrival which saved you having to carry your all inclusive card everywhere you went.
Food in the restaurant was always well cooked but a little bland and repeated often. All inclusive users were not allowed to have a beer at lunch time.
Drinks and cocktails in the bar were very expensive and once again the all inclusive option was very limited and the rules strange. You were not allowed a Martini but were allowed to order a Martini Cocktail without the Gin! Saw one sullen waitress berate a couple from Sweden who dared to ask for a coffee and a beer each at the same time. Policy is only one drink per person when ordering.
On the final day we ordered a coffee at just after 12 and told that the all inclusive had finished and we would have to pay.
Walk into the main resort takes about 25 minutes.
Would we return to the Cavo Maris – Never!

Our third consecutive holiday at the Cavo Maris - it's like going home! The staff are so welcoming, friendly warm and helpful, the rooms clean and well appointed with linen changed frequently and the food, as ever, varied, plentiful and well cooked.
Improvements this year include drinking water stations at convenient positions on all floors, and ceiling fans in the terrace bar which provide much appreciated cooling in the sultry evenings.
All in all a fabulous time was had by both of us and we look forward to making a fourth trip in 2010.

  • Advice: Jeep safari lots of fun but best for just chillin'

Have spent our third consecutive holiday at Cavo Maris - arriving there, we were treated like prodigal sons! The staff are so very welcoming, friendly and helpful, the hotel is clean, the rooms comfy and now provide tea/coffee making facilities, as well as the fridge and TV - WOW for a 3 star hotel. We've stayed in 4 star hotels which didn't offer so much.
The food, as ever, is plentiful and has a good variety of well cooked dishes - we both gained a little weight over the two weeks we were there!
We didn't need to leave our towels on the floor for changing - they were changed every day and the sheets were changed every other day! Great service in our book.
Can't wait to return - we would heartily and sincerely recommend the Cavo Maris to anyone - young, old, families, able bodied or disabled. We feel sure you will enjoy the experience as much as we do.

  • Advice: Lots of nightlife or quiet places if preferred
  • Activities: Try Jeep Safari - great fun for all

Me and my wife got married at the Cavo Maris, We had the time of our life, the hotel is great and the staff are brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Drinks and food was a bit expensive. We stayed B+B and the breakfasts were great with a huge selection of food and drinks. We'ld definately return

  • Advice: 15mins walk to the strip, theres great bars and a large selection of restaurants

I am 30 and I stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend who is 35. We were looking for a holiday which was not too lively and not too quiet. The hotel is ideal for this and families.
It is situated on a fairly quiet street, with a few restaurants off the main road and seemed to be accomodating to it's full capacity. The hotel itself is, clean and has a busy, large pool area which leads down to a small beach. There were many sun loungers but unless you got up at 5 am and put your towel there, don't expect to get one!
I think a German tour operator must have a contract with the hotel as the majority of tourists in the seemed to be German. Being an ethnic minority coming from the cosmopolitan city of London with many different races, proved to be a fascination to some residents of the hotel, who were probably not used to this. So at times I could have done without being the centre of attention.
The breakfast was awful to say the least. It was served on saucers and everthing seemed to be miniature. I'm talking small bread, small sausages, cups, cutlery and plates. The beans were cold, and the eggs looked plastic and tasted disgusting. The breakast area reminded me of an old depressing school canteen.
Despite this there were numerous activites going on and the rooms were nice and very clean. In the end we felt we were not suited for the hotel and checked out and stayed in a really nice friendly, small, family run hotel 15 minutes away, had a fab time and would I'd give top marks to.
I personally wouldn't stay at Cavo Maris again but I wouldn't totally disregard the hotel for others that it may be more suited to.

Hotel was ok, decor very dated, but rooms were clean.
Bit further than the 10 minute walk the book suggested from the centre of Protaras.
Hotel food very nice, lots of choice for breakfast and plenty of it.
If you're on all inclusive you can have a lovely milkshake with ice cream, but if you're not all inclusive I'm afraid you don't get the ice cream!!??!!
Entertainment was amusing, however very repetitive!
Had our wedding there which was lovely, the hotel did an excellent job of making sure it all went smoothly.

i stayed in the cavo maris hotel august 2007, the hotel was friendly, lots of entertainment fot adults and kids. the kids club was also good and offered a range of activities everyday cooking, painting and a trip to the beach. the downside for us was that all the children there including my own got ear infections from the pool. it wouldnt stop me going again though the weathers amazing the foods varied and the staff really friendl.

Cavo Maris is the BEST hotel in...
10 / 10
Jul 2008, Miss A L Hobson

Cavo Maris is the BEST hotel in Cyprus, I have been there 9 times with my family and they have been 2 extra times without me, I will be returning again in October 08. The staff are all wonderful, caring and really friendly. The food is yummy and such a varied amount for different people and even the food at the BBQ area and the Coral bar is great! The hotel is perfect; the reception is open all the time with staff on it to welcome you when you arrive, there is a shop in the hotel with the essentials that people need inc post cards, sun tan lotion etc, the bar isn't like English bars where you are huffing and puffing when there is only one member of staff on it, there are more than enough staff on this bar. The pool bar has 1 member of staff; Christa (& maybe another 1) she is fab though and can multi-task better than anyone i know! There is disabled access to every part of the hotel - with lifts and ramps. The kids club with Christina is brilliant, varied activites from going paddling in the sea to chilling and watching a DVD. The entertainment in the day is good ranging from aerobics in the swimming pool to archery and volleyball on the beach. The entertainment is great at night time especially the magician and the kareoke but when you've been there as many times as we have it gets a bit repetative watching the other acts, such as local dancers, local bands etc. The beach at the bottom of the hotel is gorgeous, however please be advised that it does have pebbles just as you walk into the sea, the sunbeds on the beach are £2.50 I don't have a problem with this as I either lie on my towel or my lilo! There is also a watersports kiosk on the beach that offers varieties of watersports inc jet ski, parachute on the back of a boat, pedlo's, glass-bottom speed boats and many more! You have to walk to the main town - Protaras, but it is a lovely walk to there with shops on the way. Ayia Napa is also down the road which is nice to for the younger people :) but I would advise you to go in a taxi to Ayia Napa as its a good walk. All in all I would 100% recommend the Cavo Maris Beach Hotel, it is just fabulous, and I would not rate it as a 3 star, its better! We have introduced the Cavo Maris to our friends and family and they have all said the same thing. A+++++ Cavo Maris!

Sep 2007, Mrs L Tanner

What can I say! The holiday was fantastic, the staff at the hotel was very very friendly and warm, the entertainment was great! Location was beautiful.
We got married in the hotel grounds, and it was the perfect wedding! The staff there made it very romantic and private for us, and we had the best day of our life. All the arrangements were taken out of our hands, and it was lovely sitting by the pool the morning of your wedding, just chilling and relaxing!
We will definitely be going back there!
