Cavo Maris Beach Hotel Reviews
" A total success-yet aain! "
Submitted By: Dave and JackyImprovements this year include drinking water stations at convenient positions on all floors, and ceiling fans in the terrace bar which provide much appreciated cooling in the sultry evenings.
All in all a fabulous time was had by both of us and we look forward to making a fourth trip in 2010.
Advice: Jeep safari lots of fun but best for just chillin'
Activities: Ate at Cavo Maris every day
Good for: Beach
" Another fabulous holiday "
Submitted By: Dave and JackyThe food, as ever, is plentiful and has a good variety of well cooked dishes - we both gained a little weight over the two weeks we were there!
We didn't need to leave our towels on the floor for changing - they were changed every day and the sheets were changed every other day! Great service in our book.
Can't wait to return - we would heartily and sincerely recommend the Cavo Maris to anyone - young, old, families, able bodied or disabled. We feel sure you will enjoy the experience as much as we do.
Advice: Lots of nightlife or quiet places if preferred
Activities: Try Jeep Safari - great fun for all

Submitted By: ShannIt is situated on a fairly quiet street, with a few restaurants off the main road and seemed to be accomodating to it's full capacity. The hotel itself is, clean and has a busy, large pool area which leads down to a small beach. There were many sun loungers but unless you got up at 5 am and put your towel there, don't expect to get one!
I think a German tour operator must have a contract with the hotel as the majority of tourists in the seemed to be German. Being an ethnic minority coming from the cosmopolitan city of London with many different races, proved to be a fascination to some residents of the hotel, who were probably not used to this. So at times I could have done without being the centre of attention.
The breakfast was awful to say the least. It was served on saucers and everthing seemed to be miniature. I'm talking small bread, small sausages, cups, cutlery and plates. The beans were cold, and the eggs looked plastic and tasted disgusting. The breakast area reminded me of an old depressing school canteen.
Despite this there were numerous activites going on and the rooms were nice and very clean. In the end we felt we were not suited for the hotel and checked out and stayed in a really nice friendly, small, family run hotel 15 minutes away, had a fab time and would I'd give top marks to.
I personally wouldn't stay at Cavo Maris again but I wouldn't totally disregard the hotel for others that it may be more suited to.

Submitted By: Mrs S CooksleyBit further than the 10 minute walk the book suggested from the centre of Protaras.
Hotel food very nice, lots of choice for breakfast and plenty of it.
If you're on all inclusive you can have a lovely milkshake with ice cream, but if you're not all inclusive I'm afraid you don't get the ice cream!!??!!
Entertainment was amusing, however very repetitive!
Had our wedding there which was lovely, the hotel did an excellent job of making sure it all went smoothly.

Submitted By: Mrs L TannerWe got married in the hotel grounds, and it was the perfect wedding! The staff there made it very romantic and private for us, and we had the best day of our life. All the arrangements were taken out of our hands, and it was lovely sitting by the pool the morning of your wedding, just chilling and relaxing!
We will definitely be going back there!

Submitted By: Miss L BradleyThe bedroom in the hotel was very basic but clean. It did have a fridge in the room which was good but you had to pay for it as an extra which was also the same if you wanted tea & coffee.
We stayed Bed & Breakfast and although previous reviews said B & B gets treated better we still waited ages to have our order taken for lunch and then wait about 20 mins to pay for it!
The pool was lovely and the hotel is right on the beach so you've got the option of both. If you do want a lounger on the beach it costs £2.50 per day.
The hotel is about 20 mins from the main strip of Protaras and a taxi to Ayia Napa costs about £4.
Overall I did enjoy the holiday as the weather was great...

Submitted By: brwon135This hotel has the best ever list of entertainers and for the past few years we have had the great pleasure of watching Sergio and friends entertaining us! The Waiter list is even better as they all look after us and make sure that they satisfy us to their highest ability.
The kitchen staff are very friendly and will cater to your needs whatever they are. This is where we would like to mention Andreas the Head Chef who makes sure that we all come home carrying a few extra pounds.
Reception Staff who make sure that we get in to our rooms when we come home at 6 in the morning and have no keys to get in! The cleaners make sure that our rooms are cleaned to the best of their ability as we make so much mess! The Pool and Garden men make sure that the pool is cleaned every day and the gardens are kept tidy!
Again we would like to thank all of the staff that we have forgotten and hope to see you all again next year (especially John the Waiter, Sergio the Entertainer, and Laura's sweetheart Adamos and of course the lovely Cheryl who we miss dearly!
By the way Protaras is a lovely place to visit if you have time in between parting in Ayia Napa and chasing the staff in the hotel! And if you are looking for Jewellery we advise MR George Christou whose shop is situated next door to Pizza Hut! He is the friendliest man in Protaras!

Submitted By: Mrs J HodgsonThe Hotel the rooms the food the location the beach the entertainment and the staff are all fantastic, and we will be retuning again. The kids club was great for my daughter.
The staff are very friendly and very helpful. When we arrived as we had been before we had a bottle of champagne and a bowl of fruit in our lovely air con room and we all had been given a t-shirt each, also we were invited to a repeaters dinner and all given a present. There were allot of people there that had been before, hence us all wearing the same t-shirts.
The entertainment is varied so something for everyone to enjoy, especially the kids disco which is fun to watch.
The Hotel was very clean and tidy and the rooms are great, cool and relaxing.
The food was great loads of choice.

Submitted By: Miss V B ONeillWe have always had a great time, my partner goes fishing using a locally advertised English fishing guide and I idle my days away by the pool.
The food is good. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the staff go out of the way to make you feel at home. We requested a double bed and by the time we went back to our room it was installed!
The entertainment is varied and tries to suit all tastes. If you go there try the taverna restaurant on the way to the town for authentic Cypriot food and atmosphere it’s called the village tavern makes a good night out.
Our only complaint was regarding the holiday company themselves after experiencing a 12+ hour delay last year on our return journey which they were aware of before our departure time, but chose not to tell us until we were on the coach at 4 am. We then spent 12 hot and uncomfortable hours stuck in Nicossia, not to be recommended and no compensation offered!
If there was another company that flew from Bournemouth to Cyprus I would be using them, as nothing will stop me from getting back to the Cavo.

First impressions on arriving at reception were good. Reception and bar area were very clean. Allocated room was also clean but somewhat tired. Carpets and décor could do with an update.
As per most hotels fridges and safes have to be paid for as does a kettle!
As we had arrived too late for lunch we were advised that we could have a snack in the main bar. On looking at the menu there was very little choice, looked at the menu for the pool side bar (Better choice) was advised that as we were all inclusive we would not be allowed to order from here (One of the very strange all inclusive options).
Swimming pool and pool area were very clean and tidy. The waitress was able to remember your room number within 48 hours of arrival which saved you having to carry your all inclusive card everywhere you went.
Food in the restaurant was always well cooked but a little bland and repeated often. All inclusive users were not allowed to have a beer at lunch time.
Drinks and cocktails in the bar were very expensive and once again the all inclusive option was very limited and the rules strange. You were not allowed a Martini but were allowed to order a Martini Cocktail without the Gin! Saw one sullen waitress berate a couple from Sweden who dared to ask for a coffee and a beer each at the same time. Policy is only one drink per person when ordering.
On the final day we ordered a coffee at just after 12 and told that the all inclusive had finished and we would have to pay.
Walk into the main resort takes about 25 minutes.
Would we return to the Cavo Maris – Never!
