Balanzat Apartments Reviews
" Shame about Caseys Irish Bar ! "
Submitted By: Disappointed from LeicsBeach, accommodation, restaurants, hotel & apartment entertainment catered for all ages & was of an acceptable standard (all entertainment usually ended at around midnight which was great as children need their sleep).
UNFORTUNATELY, that was when Caseys Irish Bar (which is attached to the Balansat Apartments) kicked off its nightly tirade of LOUD MUSIC OF THE SAME OLD MONOTONOUS SONGS EVERY NIGHT !
At around 3 or 4am (having suffered the noise of its guests "offspring" running around like feral kids) the guests would make their way NOISILY to their rooms.
After the first week of this & numerous complaints the Bars owners would shut the doors to the front of the bar which, to be fair, helped a little.
As the resort was advertised as a "quiet family resort" it seemed ideal for our holiday & its a shame that the minority spoilt it for the rest of the guests.
Would I go back?........
If all entertainment ended aruond midnight then the answer would be YES.
Advice: Be wary of Caseys Irish Bar.
Activities: Port Balansat Restaurant was superb for food quality but could be seen as a little expensive.
Good for: Beach

Submitted By: Mrs Jill DeheerWe are an older couple, looking for a relaxing beach holiday.
We had a one-bedroom apartment on the first floor- it was spotlessly clean and had obviously been refurbished quite recently. It was light and airy, and well furnished with everything we could wish for.
It was however rather warm as there was no air conditioning but we could easily hire an electric fan from reception.
The swimming pool was quite small but we also had the use of the pool at the Torremar next door which was lovely.
The maids thoroughly cleaned the pool area every morning before most people had had their breakfast and everyone using the pool was very happy to be there - especially all the children ( as it was the school holidays ).
The situation of the Balanzat is wonderful - almost on the beach itself - and near to the shops and supermarket and the great Balanzat Restaurant (which was so good we ate there every single evening!)The fish especially was superb.
We spent most days on the beach, but did have a trip on the little "Ibiza Express" train to Cala San Vincente one day, and a ferry trip from the beach to the beach at Portinatx another day. We were glad we were staying at Puerto San Miguel!
Our only slight complaint was that it was rather noisy at night, but we were pleased that the noise stopped at midnight.
Do go, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as we did!!

Submitted By: Mr J SinjonApartment had a nice size main bedroom with two single beds and good storage, dressing table and mirror. The ceiling fan was appreciated as there is no a/c. Bathroom was adequate. Shower over bath. Had a problem one morning as we had no running water but this was solved within 20 mins of reporting.
Kids slept in lounge area. One put up bed and a sofa. No fan in this area, which got particularly warm unless you left the patio doors open and therefore the noise from the neighbouring hotel until midnight. The heat at times was stifling in this room.
The kitchen consisted of a worktop about 2 metres wide which contained a sink and ceramic hob with 2 rings. Under this was the bin, fridge, and draws. Apartment was not cleaned when we were there but towels changed 3 times, beds changed once and bin emptied daily.
The pool area of the Balanzat was quite shady as opposed to the Torremar opposite where the kids club and entertainment was. We spent our days here. Pools are the same size and thankfully, you don't need to be up at 6 to get a bed. Beach was great with a nice breeze to keep you cool. Got quite busy as the locals used it too. Entertainment not bad at all and kids enjoyed day activities too.
Overall, really enjoyed the holiday and the accommodation was basic but more than acceptable for the small price you pay. So if you want luxury, go somewhere else. If you want value for money, then look no further.
Resort was small and contained about 4 snack bars and a Chinese and the excellent Balanzat Restaurant which was the only place to go if you wanted a proper meal.
Everywhere else you had a choice of what you wanted with chips or pizzas.
If I were ever to go back to this resort I would probably go to the All Inclusive hotel set in the hillside opposite. I would feel this represents better value for money overall, mainly due to the high cost the cafes/restaurants feel they can charge due to the lack of competition.

Submitted By: Miss L McCourtThe weather overall was very warm.
The accomodation was reasonably comfortable, however the 1 bedroom apartment in which I was staying was not very spacious. There was only air conditioning in the bedroom of the apartment. This was a fan on the ceiling. It did not run very fast and did not provide much relief on a warm night.
I also experienced very noisey neighbours which made it even harder to sleep at night.
The hotel staff were apalling and rude. When approaching the bar, staff would often ignore you and carry on talking amonst themseleves. When purchasing a drink the bar staff often slammed it down.
The cleanliness of the pool was also drawn to my attention. It was often dirty.
The entertainment was very good. There was a mini disco for kids each night and sometimes there were professional acts which were very enjoyable. Bingo was also played everynight.
The beach was right on the doorstep of the apartments. This was a big advantage and would suit elderly couples. However when at the beach there were swarms of jellyfish that came in with the tide at different times in the day. There was a lack of information given about the jellyfish.
I myself got stung 4 times and my dad got stung 3 times. The jellyfish stings were very sore and we did not know how to treat it at first. We later found out that vinegar and lemon should be applied to the sting.
The lifeguards at the beach spoke very little english which made it difficult for us to understand what they were saying.
The resort was very quiet with only 4 shops. There were a few select restaurants which were very clean and the food was great.
Within the resort there wasn't much to do but it was ideal if you were wanting a very relaxing holiday. There was also the option of excursions.
In all I had a very relaxed and enjoyable holiday. The good weather was a major bonus.

Submitted By: Mr T McCandlessThe place offers absolutely nothing at night other than a kids' disco and - wait for it - BINGO. Unfortunately for anyone under 55, it does not have any appeal.
The beach is lovely and the water is crystal clear - ideal for snorkelling and swimming - when it does not have jelly fish. It just so happened that quite a few swimmers were stung on a daily basis, which put you off going into the sea.
The resort consists of 3 shops, 3 cafés/restaurants and 4 hotels/apartments. A lot of holiday makers I spoke to were deeply disappointed with the resort.
Another thing I may add was, in the entire 2 weeks, we never received any toilet roll from room service - we always had to go and ask someone or take it from the public toilet at the pool area.
Sorry, I'm afraid that I will not be back to this resort nor will I recommend it to any family or friends.
" Good standard of apartments which... "
Submitted By: Ms A ViolaThe food at the pool bar and neighbouring Torremar was pretty dire - think sausage, burgers, chips and English breakfasts. Traditional tapas and Spanish fare would've been welcome, but we found nowhere in the resort to accommodate this. The seafood restaurant on the beachside was superb. Well worth the additional cost.
We were caught out by there being no cash withdrawal facility in the village, so a return taxi ride (about 15 Euros), or a bus (2 Euro) is needed to get to the nearest cash point. Take plenty of cash, or use travellers cheques.
The apartments don't allow late a check out if you've got a flight in the evening, so book a half hour slot for a courtesy room in the afternoon.
Overall, a very quiet relaxing resort. Recommended for young families.

Submitted By: Mr Ray ButlerWe recommend you avoid this block as you have a thoroughfare to the rear, the road to the front which features a 4am rubbish collection EVERY morning!
And a disco at the other end which closed between 2.00 and 4.00 am also.
Reception refused to move us and ignored other complaints about no hot water, ants, broken fridge, and flies from the adjacent rubbish where lids had been left off by the rubbish collectors.
All in all very disappointing accommodation but resort first class if you want a quiet holiday during the day!
" The Balanzat apartments are basic... "
Submitted By: Mrs S BWe did not encounter any significant problems during our stay (except slightly noisy toilet flush/plumbing!) And believe the apartments to be generally as described in the Thomson brochure.
It has a nice pool and small bars and the use of pool at the Torremar next door also and entertainment outside between the two apartment blocks. The pools do have baby sections but in larger area they get very deep at one end and there is no lifeguard so supervision essential in and around pool area.
There is a kid’s playground and a volleyball area and a small football goal area, table tennis and pool tables so plenty to enjoy with the kids! There is also a pitch and putt crazy golf on resort which provides a couple of hours of fun.
Also the caves at the top of the hill are a nice place to visit. You can get a glass bottom boat out into the sea or hire a peddle boat with slide on to take out by yourself. Is also banana boat trip on beach. The sea is very calm as in a cove and was ideal for kids. There was also an excursion tour train which took you to neighbouring beaches.
Also the local dancing at the church in san Miguel was apparently not to be missed although we unfortunately missed it!
Evening entertainment at the apartments is minimal - kids disco - parrot show - bingo - dancers - etc - not really very lively but with us having small children this suited us fine as ate out late and by the time entertainment finished and bar closed at 12 midnight we were usually shattered! However there is a hotel over the road which is livelier so you can visit there also.
Not many places to eat as only small resort - was the apartment bar snacks / food etc which were ok - is an English bar - happy friars which does nice homemade food and had friendly atmosphere.
The Chinese wasn't particularly great as food was luke warm and not worth money really compared to the fish restaurant on the sea front. The fish restaurant was definitely the best place to eat - more expensive but food well worth it. Our kids liked the live lobster in the restaurant!
This resort was lovely and peaceful and provided us with a great holiday. Relaxing on the beach - splashing in the sea - which had a few jellyfish but weren't a problem at all. Swimming in the pool and enjoying being together!
This is what we enjoy about holidays and if this is what you like then this is a nice place to enjoy family time. It is a very quiet part of Ibiza but from May to October you can get a regular bus to other areas of Ibiza (san Antonia / Ibiza town ect) if you wish to leave the gorgeous beach and need a little more adventure. There is a car hire and excursion shop on the resort so can get out and about.
Unfortunately no cash machine on resort so have to go to nearby san Miguel (approx 1 euro on bus) to find a bank. Is a bureau de changing on resort though so all well if you have cash/travellers cheques! Some of the restaurants and shops do accept credit cards though.
Are a few gift shops and spar on the resort so can get all you need for a nice self catering holiday. We only left the resort for 2 days out of 7 to visit other beaches but did have the glorious sunshine all week which made our holiday great! If it had rained we might have had to get out and about more.
Really nice holiday and had read a few dodgy reviews beforehand so was pleasantly surprised.
Basic clean but great inexpensive family break in the sun. A holiday experience also has a lot to do with how you make it and although quiet there were opportunities to find more to do if needed.
Happy holidaying.

Submitted By: Mrs K T HolmesThe whole place was lovely and clean apart from a problem with ants in our apartments.
This caused great problems as it’s a physical impossibility for children to eat without dropping crumbs and dropping crumbs caused more ants to come.
We spoke to our rep about this and she said she would sort it out, we never saw her again!
The entertainment on an evening was great for the children. A couple of nights there was a professional on and they were good.
The staff were very friendly indeed. Overall we had a fabulous time and would return. (With a hire car this time).

Submitted By: Mrs R FoxWe have found the rooms to be clean, spacious, and the facilities generally very good. Our bin was emptied daily although no other cleaning appeared to happen, but we only stayed 3 nights each time.
The reception staff were very helpful, the entertainment this year was to be honest rubbish, but the Thomson hotel over the road it good entertainment if you want.
The resort is very quiet and if you were there a week, I think a hire car is necessary, the beach is clean and safe and there are a couple of very nice restaurants.
I would visit again. But for us, 3-4 days is a nice short break here, a week may be a little boring as it is a very sleepy resort (part of the attraction)
I would say the best apartments I have been in.

Submitted By: Miss C BrayThe Balanzat apartments however were disgraceful. Arriving late on a Saturday evening it wasn't until the morning that we could seek out our Thomson Rep and request our bathroom be cleaned. It was so dirty it made us heave and we simply could not use it.
Three days in a row we had to request it to be cleaned, our toilet wouldn't even flush and it took in total 4 days before we had the whole toilet replaced and still nobody cleaned the bathroom.
The hotel entertainment was OK, nice boys who put in 100% effort but the impression is that the hotel is not prepared to spend any money on anything, let alone entertainment.
There is little choice of places to eat, especially for Children. I strongly suggest you hire a car if you stay here as the rest of the island is far more interesting, beautiful and better equipped to handle holiday makers.

Submitted By: Mr DA JessupI must say though the resort was quiet and peaceful, the beach was beautiful and gave you the chance to lie in the sun all day long, the sea was clean there was a banana boat, a glass bottom boat, peddloes and speedboats, all available for hire. There were small restaurants available for lunch, serving good food and a wide choice.
However the holiday could have been spoilt by the terrible food that was served to us within our half board package; we had purposely selected a half board holiday in order to allow us to have the freedom during the day to roam around the island or lounge on the beach.
The restaurant which had been selected by the Balanzat to provide our meals served us with an extremely limited range of food; the breakfast included either no cereal or a choice of one, some kind of cardboard I believe, cold bacon, which was left out for flies to feast on, limited fruit and various other foods which also seemed to attract flies.
Night time meals were even more of a delight, with a choice of 2/3 starters, usually all soup and 2/3 main courses, meat and fish usually. There was no choice for children (I took 2) and no choice of vegetarian offered(my partner) when my partner did ask for an option she was served with pasta and mushrooms, no sauce or other vegetables seemed to be available. We were also not allow outside to eat our meals, apparently only paying customers could go outside (so what was our paying half board for?); and finally it was a pleasure to see the cook serve food on to the plates with his hands!!!! Lovely!
I must point out that when we actually ate at the hotel, the food was plentiful, a great selection to choose from and of a good quality. Also the hotel manager did give us 2 free meals between all 4 of us.
Further overall the holiday was lovely, it was what we had wanted a chance to relax and unwind and the children loved the fact they could play all day on the beach or in the pool.

Submitted By: Mrs S TerryWe went to reception and were told it is normal. He says 'no understand', the rep was coming in the morning so I would speak to her. The beds were clean but very hard the bathroom stank of urine all the time. The cleaners came once in 1 week the sun beds we had to wipe down every morning because they never cleaned them.
The good things were the entertainment for the children with Richard and Jordan the train ride to Portinatx which is beautiful and coming home.

Casey's provided us with excellent entertainment every night and was fantastic. The two lads have done so so well and highly recommend having a few drinks there for typical Irish craic and fun!!! Very accomidating staff and music is excellent. You can request anything you like and they play a variety of DIFFERENT music every night.
The Balansat/Torremar was great. Rooms above board and found most of staff and especially kids entertainers (dan and ally) great fun and really nice. The food in the balansat was a lifesaver as we didnt like going out much for food. Nice and good value for money. Do not rate the resturant on the beach found the staff extremely rude and passive....not one ounce of english. Food came out cold and greasy and found quite dear!!
I recommend forking out for a taxi to st guartrudis (not sure of spelling) and eating at one of two places....
Passa Temps
Ullivans
Absolutely gorgeous food and in passa temps....you'll feel like you are robbing them with the great value for money
eg....my husband myself and two friends ate starter/main/dessert and had 6 beers 5/6 cokes came to 80......nothing!!!!!
Watch out for the sea as at times there are a good few jelly fish and witnessed some bad episodes!!!
loved the pool area in the torremar the kids one is fabulous!!!! food bar is nice at pool and try some cocktails!!! found the shops behind the torremar great for beer food etc if you are self catering.
Please go to Caseys and have a laugh with Pete Rory and the gang....brilliant atmosphere great music and lovely people!!!!!
going again for a quiet getaway!!! :)
Advice: Gorgeous and quiet perfect for couples on quiet getaway
Activities: Caseys Irish bar and Passa temps
