The Balanzat apartments are basic self catering apartments - clean and with linen/towel change 3 times a week but bins emptied daily.
We did not encounter any significant problems during our stay (except slightly noisy toilet flush/plumbing!) And believe the apartments to be generally as described in the Thomson brochure.
It has a nice pool and small bars and the use of pool at the Torremar next door also and entertainment outside between the two apartment blocks. The pools do have baby sections but in larger area they get very deep at one end and there is no lifeguard so supervision essential in and around pool area.
There is a kid’s playground and a volleyball area and a small football goal area, table tennis and pool tables so plenty to enjoy with the kids! There is also a pitch and putt crazy golf on resort which provides a couple of hours of fun.
Also the caves at the top of the hill are a nice place to visit. You can get a glass bottom boat out into the sea or hire a peddle boat with slide on to take out by yourself. Is also banana boat trip on beach. The sea is very calm as in a cove and was ideal for kids. There was also an excursion tour train which took you to neighbouring beaches.
Also the local dancing at the church in san Miguel was apparently not to be missed although we unfortunately missed it!
Evening entertainment at the apartments is minimal - kids disco - parrot show - bingo - dancers - etc - not really very lively but with us having small children this suited us fine as ate out late and by the time entertainment finished and bar closed at 12 midnight we were usually shattered! However there is a hotel over the road which is livelier so you can visit there also.
Not many places to eat as only small resort - was the apartment bar snacks / food etc which were ok - is an English bar - happy friars which does nice homemade food and had friendly atmosphere.
The Chinese wasn't particularly great as food was luke warm and not worth money really compared to the fish restaurant on the sea front. The fish restaurant was definitely the best place to eat - more expensive but food well worth it. Our kids liked the live lobster in the restaurant!
This resort was lovely and peaceful and provided us with a great holiday. Relaxing on the beach - splashing in the sea - which had a few jellyfish but weren't a problem at all. Swimming in the pool and enjoying being together!
This is what we enjoy about holidays and if this is what you like then this is a nice place to enjoy family time. It is a very quiet part of Ibiza but from May to October you can get a regular bus to other areas of Ibiza (san Antonia / Ibiza town ect) if you wish to leave the gorgeous beach and need a little more adventure. There is a car hire and excursion shop on the resort so can get out and about.
Unfortunately no cash machine on resort so have to go to nearby san Miguel (approx 1 euro on bus) to find a bank. Is a bureau de changing on resort though so all well if you have cash/travellers cheques! Some of the restaurants and shops do accept credit cards though.
Are a few gift shops and spar on the resort so can get all you need for a nice self catering holiday. We only left the resort for 2 days out of 7 to visit other beaches but did have the glorious sunshine all week which made our holiday great! If it had rained we might have had to get out and about more.
Really nice holiday and had read a few dodgy reviews beforehand so was pleasantly surprised.
Basic clean but great inexpensive family break in the sun. A holiday experience also has a lot to do with how you make it and although quiet there were opportunities to find more to do if needed.
Happy holidaying.

This was our first family holiday to Ibiza and decided to go to a quieter part because we took our two young children. Quiet was the word, it was extremely sleepy in Puerto San Miguel.
The whole place was lovely and clean apart from a problem with ants in our apartments.
This caused great problems as it’s a physical impossibility for children to eat without dropping crumbs and dropping crumbs caused more ants to come.
We spoke to our rep about this and she said she would sort it out, we never saw her again!
The entertainment on an evening was great for the children. A couple of nights there was a professional on and they were good.
The staff were very friendly indeed. Overall we had a fabulous time and would return. (With a hire car this time).

This is our second visit to Balansat apartments and both times we have been more than pleased.
We have found the rooms to be clean, spacious, and the facilities generally very good. Our bin was emptied daily although no other cleaning appeared to happen, but we only stayed 3 nights each time.
The reception staff were very helpful, the entertainment this year was to be honest rubbish, but the Thomson hotel over the road it good entertainment if you want.
The resort is very quiet and if you were there a week, I think a hire car is necessary, the beach is clean and safe and there are a couple of very nice restaurants.
I would visit again. But for us, 3-4 days is a nice short break here, a week may be a little boring as it is a very sleepy resort (part of the attraction)
I would say the best apartments I have been in.

We stayed half board at the Balansat Apartments. The stench from the room on arrival was unbearable. You could smell it prior to opening the door. It was impossible to sleep in the lounge due to the smell as it had made me physically sick.
The bathroom had a hole in the ceiling which poured water and plasterboard every time the upstairs occupants had a shower. The bottom of the bathroom door was completely rotten and the whole room smelt of damp and sewerage. We had emailed in advance to request a second floor sea view room but when we asked to be moved we mentioned our email and was told that emails are ignored unless you book your holiday through them.
We were unable to shower for 5 days for fear of the bathroom ceiling collapsing. On the 5th day the rep eventually moved us having forced her to view the room. The maids emptied the bins daily but that was it. The floors and toilets were never cleaned as this was up to us to do. Even the change of linen for the beds was just put on the end of the beds for us to make up.
The half board was taken in the joining restraunt. However we were made to sit in the back and had our own scrawled hand written menu which had every evening the following: starters, tomato soup, vegetable soup, and one other dish. mains, spaghetti with Bolognese or cheese, a fish dish and a meat dish, dessert: ice cream, fruit, lemon sorbet and one other dish. The pools were filthy having never been cleaned once during our stay. We used the other hotels swimming pools which were warmer had more shallow areas and 100% cleaner. You can use their restaurant buffet for 12 euros (worth every penny).
This could have been a beautiful quiet resort but the beach was spoilt by huge numbers of cigarette ends lining the sea edge. The resort can be covered in less than 10 minutes 5 minutes there and five minutes back. No water sports were available as it was too windy so it meant there was nothing to do. You do not have to pay the tour company's prices for trips as there is a fantastic small English run trip office next to the bureau de change. The guy who runs it took us in his own people carrier for the duration of our trip to Es Cana. He was friendly, a good driver and very reasonably priced.

This was my 8th trip to the island of Ibiza and my first to Puerto San Miguel. The resort itself is very sleepy (apart from the night time hotel entertainment which you simply cannot avoid unless you leave the resort) and the beach is clean, safe and mostly not too busy.
The Balanzat apartments however were disgraceful. Arriving late on a Saturday evening it wasn't until the morning that we could seek out our Thomson Rep and request our bathroom be cleaned. It was so dirty it made us heave and we simply could not use it.
Three days in a row we had to request it to be cleaned, our toilet wouldn't even flush and it took in total 4 days before we had the whole toilet replaced and still nobody cleaned the bathroom.
The hotel entertainment was OK, nice boys who put in 100% effort but the impression is that the hotel is not prepared to spend any money on anything, let alone entertainment.
There is little choice of places to eat, especially for Children. I strongly suggest you hire a car if you stay here as the rest of the island is far more interesting, beautiful and better equipped to handle holiday makers.

The room was basic in its nature, but served us well throughout the holiday. The entertainment while limited, was not bad although we were treated to a dodgy show at the end of our stay; a Spanish entertainer, a woman, who seemed to be acting as a drag queen, and proceeded to come on stage in an array of outfits and costumes; her act was bizarre and at times close to the bone when you consider half the audience was children.
I must say though the resort was quiet and peaceful, the beach was beautiful and gave you the chance to lie in the sun all day long, the sea was clean there was a banana boat, a glass bottom boat, peddloes and speedboats, all available for hire. There were small restaurants available for lunch, serving good food and a wide choice.
However the holiday could have been spoilt by the terrible food that was served to us within our half board package; we had purposely selected a half board holiday in order to allow us to have the freedom during the day to roam around the island or lounge on the beach.
The restaurant which had been selected by the Balanzat to provide our meals served us with an extremely limited range of food; the breakfast included either no cereal or a choice of one, some kind of cardboard I believe, cold bacon, which was left out for flies to feast on, limited fruit and various other foods which also seemed to attract flies.
Night time meals were even more of a delight, with a choice of 2/3 starters, usually all soup and 2/3 main courses, meat and fish usually. There was no choice for children (I took 2) and no choice of vegetarian offered(my partner) when my partner did ask for an option she was served with pasta and mushrooms, no sauce or other vegetables seemed to be available. We were also not allow outside to eat our meals, apparently only paying customers could go outside (so what was our paying half board for?); and finally it was a pleasure to see the cook serve food on to the plates with his hands!!!! Lovely!
I must point out that when we actually ate at the hotel, the food was plentiful, a great selection to choose from and of a good quality. Also the hotel manager did give us 2 free meals between all 4 of us.
Further overall the holiday was lovely, it was what we had wanted a chance to relax and unwind and the children loved the fact they could play all day on the beach or in the pool.

Arriving in the middle of the night it, seemed very nice. We had two rooms. When we opened the door to the first room the smell nearly knocked us out! We switched the lights on to be met with woodlice and cockroaches. The other room was the same only had more cockroaches.
We went to reception and were told it is normal. He says 'no understand', the rep was coming in the morning so I would speak to her. The beds were clean but very hard the bathroom stank of urine all the time. The cleaners came once in 1 week the sun beds we had to wipe down every morning because they never cleaned them.
The good things were the entertainment for the children with Richard and Jordan the train ride to Portinatx which is beautiful and coming home.

The Balanzat apartments were disappointing, as we had asked to be sited next to our disabled mother, in the event we were put into rooms 001 and 006, so we couldn't have been further away in this block of 6 apartments.
We recommend you avoid this block as you have a thoroughfare to the rear, the road to the front which features a 4am rubbish collection EVERY morning!
And a disco at the other end which closed between 2.00 and 4.00 am also.
Reception refused to move us and ignored other complaints about no hot water, ants, broken fridge, and flies from the adjacent rubbish where lids had been left off by the rubbish collectors.
All in all very disappointing accommodation but resort first class if you want a quiet holiday during the day!
