Avoid like the plague!!!
Booked this hotel for short stay in August 2007. Terrible terrible experience! Small pokey rooms, air conditioning which did not work, terrible staff with awful attitude and noisy guests coming in at all times of the night and playing loud music which could be heard through paper thin walls, dirty bathrooms and cheap towels. We were promised sea view - had a view of some railings with spikes on. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL EVER!!!
Clean, Good Location - Sporadic good service
The Maritimo is a good, decent, clean place to stay, with access to a beach, ibiza city and the clubs. Very good value for money. The staff ranged from really lovely people, from the cleaner to the guy at reception who dutifully booked us a cab every night and made me laugh with his funny faces, to some downright rude, uncommunicative miserable ones. I would say don't expect the hilton. Is that much of a surprise? Top tip would be to sneak into the hotel on the left's pool and use the facilities there.
Great location. Good choice.
We booked this hotel for a short stay to Ibiza having done our usual trawl of hotels in trip advisor to see what other people thought of the Maritimo. We've travelled a fair bit, staying in both luxury hotels and hostels too and I have to say we thought the Maritimo offered good value for money with good, clean facilities in a great location. I'm not sure whether other people commenting on this hotel were just unlucky but we didn't have any problems on our 4 night stay and would definately consider staying there again. The only thing I would say is that the pool is indoors so no-one uses it but then again the beach is right on your doorstep so no need to.
Cannot believe this place has gotten a decent review
The room was so loud I could hear the people in the room next to me rolling their Euro notes and snorting their cocaine. Yeah, I know its Ibiza, but once in 5 days I would like to sleep. The hotel is set up so you can hear EVERYTHING. The floors, walls, curved hallways, EVERYTHING. I got no more than 2 hours sleep the entire time I was there. I asked for sea view, didn´t get it. My AC was soooo noisy I couldnt use it and had to sleep in the heat. The bathroom was OK. The food downstairs was pretty good. The pool is a small tub INSIDE, not outside. No one used it the entire time I was there. Who wants to be inside at a pool in Ibiza??? The beach outside was OK, very dead though, just old ladies and kids. Had the room been quiet, the AC worked and not been noisy, and the location a little closer to a taxi stand without having to have them call and wait 30 minutes, I would have said Excellent. But the other factors ruined this hotel for me. I would stay at the Hotel CENIT next time, just 100 meters away up some steps, great view, but they dont have AC. But for me, I couldnt use the AC anyways, so I guess trying to get it didnt matter for me. If you get a back view, like I did, even though I requested a sea view months in advance, you are screwed. Prepare to hear every motor bike speeding up the road and you get great views of Spaniards apartments.
Great Location
Booked this hotel from a website and looked it up on here before confirming. Arrived at hotel at 2am where I was promptly checked into a clean room with airconditioning and a television. It did have a balcony but it looked out onto a brick wall. If your reservation says B then this is what you get. I was on the first floor so directly above the kitchen. Breakfast was included but after the first couple of days I didn't bother. There was a cute little bistro at the other end of the promanade that served MUCH better food. It is a nice hotel with its own beach. There is an attendant waiting there everyday to collect 4 euros if you use a sunlounger. There is a pool at the Maritimo but again it is internal as well. I suggest you go next door to the Ebbso or the other hotel and use their pool. As long as your ordering from the bar they don't seem to mind. The Martitmo has friendly staff with limited English. Saying all this I think this was the nicest part of Ibiza town and the views out to sea were great. Just a shame I could not see them from my room.
Bad, then good!
We booked to stay at the Maritimo at the end of May. We also were put into a holding room for our first night after arriving at around 2am. It was a very small, very dark room with no natural light, it was really noisy and quite smelly and the bathroom light didn't work. I was really disappointed as we were only there for 4 nights - and had to spend half of our first day sorting out a new room. Finally at around 1pm the following day after several conversations with the unhelpful, uncaring staff and hotel manager we were put into another room. Which I have to say was far beyond my expectations of a 2* hotel. The view we had was amazing out over the sea and the room itself was large, comfortable and very clean. Although the rest of our holiday was really enjoyable and we had no further problems with the hotel, I wouldn't stay there again purely because of their 'holding room' policy which means you effectively lose your first night and half the next day sorting out what room you're staying in.
PIT, with good view & restaurant
Had a real nightmare with this place. Arrived late at night, about 3am after long flight delay, and were initially put into 'reserve' rooms: small with windows looking onto brick wall! The next day we were allocated our rooms, 5 blokes 2 rooms. We asked for one tripple- no such ting aparently- so 2 guys had to share a double bed. The rooms were Ok size, but our room had cockroaches running riot. The staff were incredibly unhelpful when we asked to move. There are a couple of positives. Ok location, nice little beach out front and the view from reception is amazing. The restaurant is prtty good to
Good hotel in great location.
The Maritimo is located at the far end of Figuretas. It is only 100yds to the nearest restaurant and there are shops across the road. Ibiza Town is a short walk away. There is a small beach right outside the hotel with loungers to hire firly cheaply. The rooms although quite small (watch your head on the TV!) were clean and tidy with decent bathroom and a good shower. Safety deposit boxes were available at reception. Reception staff were not overly helpful but pleasant enough. The buffet breakfast stops at 10am which is a bit early for Ibiza's clubbers. On the occasions we did mke it, it was basic but well stocked. Overall I would reccomend this hotel for people who want a beach based/clubbing holiday.
Really nice and Friendly hotel
We stayed at this hotel in June and have to say it was a really nice experience. We did not have much of a view from the balcony, but as we spent most of the time on the beach it did not matter. Fresh towels every day, Rooms cleaned and beds made. Receptio staff really friendly. Certainly worth staying
Definitely worth a look
The big advantage of the Maritimo is its position. It's right on the Figurettes promenade at the eastern end, next to Los Molinos, a 4 star hotel. The front street, 48 Ramon Muntaner Street, is on level 3 of the hotel. We stayed (Oct 2004) in room 206, on level 2. Two floors down and we were on the beach - one floor up and we were on the street, with its supermarket, car hire, and a short distance to the Old Town, albeit up some fairly steep gradients. The rooms are pleasant, well equipped, and kept very clean, with daily visits by the cleaning staff. Our room had a sideways view over the sea but some appear to have views into an internal lightwell - much less desirable. Our balcony was not very private but we spent most of the time on the adjacent beach (also very good) so it didn't matter too much. The staff were, without exception, polite and helpful. We had one night which was affected by some extremely noisy clients, or trespassers, intent on waking everyone up, but the staff seemed to deal with it professionally as there were no further problems. The restaurant serves breakfasts and dinners. We dined there on one night but I was not particularly impressed. The price and quality was acceptable but it takes the form of an all you can eat buffet and, since we arrived half an hour or so after the start, the food was not as hot as I like it. Choosing from the a la carte menu would have been a better option since these meals are produced to order. Towards the west, still on the promenade, are a number of restaurants, of varying quality and price. We particularly liked the Tai Wan restaurant (with the green title board) where we ate AND drank a few nights for 15 euros for BOTH of us. Excellent. The one to avoid is the one on the corner of the Figurettes Square called something like Cel y Mar. The blue table cloths were stained when we dined there and every subsequent night. The food was very average. We should have walked away. The Maritimo is also well served by the island's buses. Many of them pass the end of Ramon Muntaner Street, including the bus from the airport. In fact, as there was a huge queue for taxis from the airport when we arrived we caught the bus. They are every 30 minutes at 20 and 50 past the hour and it costs E1.20. We had no trouble getting our cases on board as there is a large open area in the centre of the bus. The names of the streets are clearly shown so sit on the nearside and watch out for Carre Ramon Muntaner, just after the Figurettes roundabout. Press the bell and you can't go wrong. Don't try to go past the street and go the direct route as it is up steep steps then down the other side. Not with suitcases!! The hotel offers car hire but we found their rates to be uncompetitive. I arranged a Ford Fiesta, on the internet, with full insurance, including excess waiver, for £105 for a week. I think their charge was E252 (about £170) Would I go again? Yes, definitely. It's well placed and capable of providing a good holiday. I'm not so sure I would like an "inside" room though. I like a view!
