West Side Hotel

I booked this hotel based on photos on both expedia and hotels.com. Are you serious? Where did they get the picture of the hotel room. It certainly wasn't from that hotel! You should see the ones I have. I agree with all of the other comments listed on this site. We drove by some scary stuff on the cab ride to the room and could not even leave our luggage unattended in our room. The room consisted of twin bunk beds and a single bed AND THAT'S ALL. The reviews on this website are correct. The people at the hotel will LIE to you over the phone. The man at the front desk DOES stink of perspiration...everything the reviews said was absolutely right. When you talk to the people over the phone, they will tell you that all problems have been resolved and the hotel is under new and wonderful management...that is a lie. If you have reservations- cancel them before it's too late. I stayed there Sept. 3rd-6th, 2004, and it was awful....AWFUL>

Please don't stay here. There were pimps and prostitutes all over the lobby, and the hallway is so weird, dark, and disgusting. The door to our room wouldn't even close at the bottom and we didn't have a window in our room. My friend and I sat down on the bed and cried. Then, ran out and cried more and decided not to go back in....and that was room 303 of the West Side Inn.

My husband and I stayed at the West Side Inn for 3 nights in November 2003. It was the worst place I have ever stayed in. We were on a tight budget so booked this because it was cheap and the photos looked ok on the website. We didn't mind sharing a bathroom because it said it was cleaned twice a day and we didn't plan on spending much time there. My friend and I decided to give up the reservation, and sleep in another place (they kept the first night charge of course). the room was dirty, had no light, the door did not close properly, the floor was disgusting, the bathroom... a nightmare; and the staff... what staff ? Please don't go. The location is not even good!

This so-called hostel ruined the end of our 5 month 'round the world' trip. We booked beforehand on the net using our visa , when we got there at 11.00pm at night, the unhelpful guy, before giving us our keys said that we had to pay first for the nights acc. We said but the site has all our details and we assumed probably had already taken the money. My travel partner and I checked in to this establishment and were "blown away" with how bad it was. Not only did we not know we had to pay cash or by traveler's cheque, we could not believe our eyes - the place was dirty, the room small and equipped with bunk beds, and one bath on the floor had a stopped up commode which was reported to the front desk and not attended to until the next morning. Please don't stay here...I came in March of this yr..and i checked in kind of late. Went upstairs and i found dark hallways, that was kind of scary walking through. Found my room, which was jammed in a cornor. Then had to bang on the door to get it open..the light flickered and then finally came on. The room was gross..stains on the bed and the ugly yellow blanket was all linty and old (i wouldnt be surprised if they never even washed it). This was the worst hotel we have ever seen in our live! Luckily the wheather was great so we could spent a great deal of time far away from this place. We only stayed a couple of hours and then we left. Even if they would have given us the money they charged us for this rotten place, we would not have stayed if known earlier what we know now! Stay away.

Hailing from the NYC area, I thought I was well prepared to help plan a weekend for a group of friends in NYC. I wish I found this web site first. It was such a bad hotel, I felt compelled to use time to find a user review site to warn future travellers of this hotel. First, the rooms and hallways really do smell acrid. It probably was urine and other fluids. I refused to use the bathrooms -- it was that bad. You know that you're in trouble when you rather use the facilities in a strip club than your own hotel.
