W The Court

We stayed at The Court for 4 nights. We were originally booked into the Tuscany (their sister hotel) but were told when we arrived that we were moved to the Court. We booked on Priceline when the hotel was still a W for $180/night. When I booked this hotel a few months ago, it was a W, and when I got the e-mail indicating it would turn into a St. Giles, I considered cancelling. But I got a great deal of $249 for a suite with a king bed and pull-out sofa and had stayed here before when it was a W and think the location is great. Murray Hill is relatively quiet and centrally-located. We checked in early without any issues. We were pleasantly surprised at this gem of a hotel in NYC. It is quiet, upscale and rooms are very large and tastefully furnished. There was ample room to work and relax and it's close to restaurants, theatre district and transportation.

It once was the W hotel but nothing has changed but the name. I booked a room in March, when I arrived i was told the hotel was full. They placed me in a smoking handicap room. Each day the room was not cleaned. We were moved to another room and the same thing happened. I asked two employees to speak with a manager and no one ever came or called. 1/2 of the staff is friendly the other half is rude.The rates changed from my confirmed rates. Part of my week trip was staying at this lovely hotel. The staff was THE BEST. Rooms were spacious and well appointed. Room service was excellent. They aim to please their customers here. I loved this place and would definitely stay again. Heck lots of famous people stay here! You can't beat it.

We arrived early and the hotel was able to get us into our room early. The staff made several very good drinking and dining suggestions during our stay. The location of the hotel is great. The room was a good size. The bathroom was a great size for NYC, but it needed more shelving. One small shelf over the toilet did not work for 2 people. The rain showerhead was wonderful. We arrived late for check in and the room STILL wasn't ready! The customer service at this hotel was NOT worth the money paid, but the hotel itself was pretty nice. On another night we called room service for extra pillows, and the guy who answered said "are you serious?" (it was late) and the pillows never came. YES, when I call room service for extra pillows I am serious, even if it is 2am. One day the elevator was serviced ALL day, so we were forced to take the stairs or service elevator. The W is now St. Giles. Physically the hotel is pretty much the same but the funkiness is gone. In its place is a staff who go through the motions: A doorman more interested in chatting up chicks, a front desk staff who go through the motions but could never be accused of being hospitable. The hotel elevators are about the size of phone booths and one of them was out of commission during my two day stay. One hopes that The Court will evolve its own style but I won't be back to find out.

The St. Giles was an excellent base for our recent stay in New York. The hotel is certainly in transition, but the size of the room and friendly staff, more than compensated for a few minor problems with the finishes. Will definately return to the same location again.

Just returned from a great weekend in NYC at the former W- Court hotel on 39th street. It's now a St. Giles hotel and the transition was seamless. The staff were great. The location was great and we had a suite that was the largest hotel room I've stayed in for a while and super large by NYC standards. Our room had a great view of the Chrysler building and we had a short walk to Grand Central and a reasonable walk to broadway/times square. Lots of good restaurants in the neighborhood and I would stay there again in a NY minute!
