Have just come back and felt I had to comment! Generally a good holiday but hotel left something to be desired.
Staff all very friendly and helpful. I would imagine this was once a very grand hotel, but is now getting a little run down and needs desperately some TLC!
Huge comfortable reception lounge if you just want to sit around and gaze into space - nothing else to do, you can’t see the picture on the TV and its only Greek programmes, English old films shown every night about 9.30pm but can’t watch them because of the bad picture. The brochure states satellite TV in all rooms, but only Greek programmes shown so that was a waste of time!
The rooms are clean and spacious but need some refurbishment, the brochures state that this hotel has been recently refurbished - but it hasn’t!
Clean towels daily and bed linen every other day, really lovely cleaner who couldn’t do enough for us.
No entertainment what so ever, a line dance class is held every Friday morning for local ex pats, but you can join in for £1.50cyp if you want! they then meet up on Monday evening for the real thing, it’s quite entertaining to watch.
When I asked at reception about the advertised entertainment I was told there was no one there who was interested so they didn’t bother - apparently they laid on entertainment at New Year but no one stayed in the hotel, so they don’t bother!
The bar leaves a lot to be desired, there is Bobby. But as he does most things around the hotel, including painting and odd jobs he can sometimes be a little difficult to find if you want a drink!
The restaurant was pleasant enough, but meals a bit "school dinner ish" plentiful and hot, but basic. Can’t complain really the evening meal is only £5cyp for 4 courses!
(that’s a little confusing as there are 2 posters up advertising the evening meal for B&B guests, one say £5cyp the other £6cyp! (I think if they like you, you only pay £5cyp and they must have liked us!!).
The hotel was under new management the first week we were there and the new manager was trying to improve matters, little things like getting rid of the tatty ornaments on the bar and new umbrellas around the pool and terrace. Hopefully he will improve things a lot and this hotel will once again be "Grand".
Johnny’s bar just over the road was a good bolt hole, at least they had Karaoke that was very entertaining to watch! Some fabulous singers and Steve who ran it sang a varied repertoire of songs to keep things going.
Bar staff very helpful and pleasant there too.
Overall nice enough, and central for getting out and about. We hired a car for the 2 weeks we were there with SIXTY car hire, very reasonable and easy to use. This was a godsend as you needed to get out of Limassol and away from the constant traffic!
Generally a good clean basic 3 star hotel - you get what you pay for (and we paid very little really).

We booked this hotel for a week stay for the Christening of our Granddaughter in Nicosia, to use as a base, but on finding the reports we were quite apprehensive on arrival.
We need not have been!
Our room was one of those not with a sea view but whilst it is overlooking a main road it was not particularly noisy - no more than I would expect. Certainly it was clean and tidy and cleaned each day.
And if you are looking for a direct comparison it was as good if not better than a Travelodge in the UK - and you pay £50 a night for one of those with no meals included.
We booked bed & breakfast as we would be doing a lot of travelling during our stay. The breakfasts were always fine - buffet style - but as we arrived late we decided to take advantage of an evening meal offer to B&B residents of a buffet evening meal at £5 per head.
What we had was a really impressive 'eat all you can' four course meal that was excellent value for money.
The staff were fine at all times and I have to say that we would go back to this hotel again, as the price that we paid was definitely value for money.
It isn't a five star hotel but then again you are not paying five star prices!!

Cyprus and people lovely, King Richard absolutely rubbish, will never ever visit again.
Arrived Dec.30th, late, asked on reception was it possible to get tea and sandwiches.
Told no, given room and on entering was like walking into a fridge, past hungry and cold, went to bed
We complained following morning about room being cold and no heating, on returning about 3.30 pm to our room found heater inside. Shortly after heater switched on had smell of burning then sparks.
Went down to reception and complained nothing done till the following morning, after our complaint, I was told that we could change our room to one that had sun all day - with a charge of £4.00 pp.
I think you can guess my answer to that!
There also was no gym and sauna which is advertised on the website when booking, entertainment left a lot to be desired and as for News Year's Eve, we went to a nearby pub to celebrate. Plus each evening after that as the hotel lacked anything.
Very disgusted at the lady on reception, very rude with not an ounce of customer care in her, other staff did their best.
As for food - we have never had meals brought in from another hotel, even though tasty and plentiful, it would have been better eaten hot and not lukewarm.
We will never ever return to that hotel, what a rip off!!

My partner and I have used this hotel twice a year for 4 years on our regular trips to Limassol - we have been to the town 18 times in the last 9 years !
The King Richard is a basic, 3 star hotel - in previous years its strong point was its food which was absolutely excellent compared with other 3* in Limassol (and we've tried most of them!).
However last year they lost their brilliant chef and we were wary of going back - however, the warmth and friendliness of the staff, their helpfulness in everything, made us return.
Incidentally, the "English" lady is one of the nicest people we have met.
OK, so the food is sometimes not very hot - please KRB, do something about that before we return in Spring! However, the quality and quantity can't be criticised and I defy anyone to get a cheaper deal in a beach front hotel in that area.
If you want Four Season's standard - go there and pay for it; if you want a cheap but enjoyable holiday in a beautiful country, where the local people are some of the nicest in the world - Limassol, the King Richard Beach will deliver this.

This was my first time in Cyprus and what can I say. Limassol and the King Richard just don't do it. If you are looking to have some fun and relax on a lovely beach then this is not for you.
The bars are very limited in Limassol but I suppose you can get a taxi to the old town that’s if you want to. I and my boyfriend went once and that was enough. There was lots of local men fighting in the street and throwing bottles at each other and lap dance clubs everywhere, the place was seedy and had a bad vibe we spent most of the time at Johnny's a bar across the road they were friendly and it had a nice atmosphere.
The food was bad, it repeated itself in a week never mind 2 weeks, there was little choice and if you didn’t get there early then tough luck. We had one decent meal the whole time we were there in a bar called Rums Grill.
The beach had dark sand, and while we were there it rained every day. We hired a car through the hotel and it leaked due to the torrential rain it was expensive too.
The bar was rubbish you had to wait about 10 minutes a time for a drink, I asked for a bottle of Smirnoff ice and got a 5 month old bottle of red square. The rooms were very basic but they were cleaned every day and we had fresh towels too. I know it was November but hotel entertainment not at all and nothing for children to do.

Well I have never placed any feedback onto a web site for any holiday I have had and I go away at least twice a year but I felt I had to tell people about this hotel The King Richard or as it is better known to most Fawlty Towers.
All inclusive was a joke you were only allowed 1 drink at a time so if you wanted a large coke that’s 2 cokes sorry no can do or if you fancied a coffee and Tia Maria the Tia Maria had to be in the coffee, the bar man fell asleep at 1730 hours one evening when we tried to get a drink we had to wake him up!! The food was pleasant at lunch time but the evening meal was very limited choice not very hot and just about edible. The entertainment was line dancing (that was it) the hotel is quite far out as well. We met up with some lovely people and there were about 8 to 10 of us and all said they would never return, we enjoyed the holiday but only because the weather was good and the people we met were fun.
The staff were also extremely rude especially the lady who was English and worked on the reception. Also the hotel was in much need for refurbishment and there are no longer any steps down to the beach as said in the previous statement. IF YOU HAVEN'T BOOKED THEN DON'T DO IT!!!!!

We stayed there about 2/3 years ago. Our room overlooked the pool and the beach. The food was eatable and the rooms were clean.
There is a small grassed area at the bottom if you want to s/bathe quietly, other than around the pool you walked down some steps straight on to the beach
Eating out I had a 3 course meal for £3.95 Cypriot pounds. It is cheap if you don’t go to these overpriced bars.
I have been to Cyprus 5 times and I would go back . I like the Limmasol area. The king Richard is a nice pleasant hotel
