We are a couple and decided to take a well deserved break for ourselves last May. We have been to Limassol 6 times now and absolutely love the place and the people. This was the 1st time to stay at the Kanika as we normally stayed at the Eden Beech Hotel, but I have to... more

My partner and I have returned from limassol a week ago and we hope to return to the kanika pantheon hotel because we have been going to limassol for the last 10 years and this was the best hotel we have stayed in for the past 5 years. The hotel was beautiful, the staff... more

Hotel very central, ideal for my needs. Very clean except for room carpet, but this is to be expected with the amount of dust being brought in. Facilities were very good and the pools were open at a reasonable time. Food - buffet style - was pretty good and had a different... more

First time in Cyprus - loved it! Hotel - Clean, definitely a 3* plus. 2 really nice sized swimming pools, additional children's pool for very young children. When we went – sun beds were only a problem for 1/2 days. Most days no problem as beach is just a 2 minute walk... more

A very pleasant stay
I stayed at the hotel during late 2005 with my former partner. The food was great with a different theme each evening, the bar was of an irish theme- obriens:) The rooms were clean and serviced every day.The staff were more than helpfull and the local people very friendly. (go out of the hotel walk to the main road, turn right and five minutes on the right is a little mini mart run by a chap called sav ack, TOP BLOKE!) Its a great little town but if you are taking your kids be carefull on the main road by the beach, the drive like nutters!
More than Happy
Selected this hotel from feedback on Trip Advisor. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were lovely and clean, bathroom like brand new also very clean. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. One thing though we were here 4th May and the English guests tended be over 60 years of age. I dont know if this happens all year round. I was only there 5 nights so it was not a problem to me - guaranteed a good nights sleep! On the basis of cleanliness, friendliness and location I would recommend this hotel.
Quiet Quality
We stayed here (family party of 7) from 03/02/07 to 21/02/07. The hotel is just back from the sea-front promenade about 1 km from the shops of Limassol town. Generally speaking the hotel is very pleasant and I would say that the food here is amongst the best I have experienced in 35 years of overseas packaged holidays. Meals were themed every night - Greek, Italian, Chinese, Mexican etc and the food served on the French evening was probably the best I have ever had at a hotel of this type. Obviously you won't be so keen if you're not prepared to sample new culinary experiences. My only criticism is that the food could have been kept a little hotter on some occasions. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed with free satellite TV. All rooms appear to have some form of side sea view. The hotel has a beauty salon and a well equipped gym which is free for guests. A minor disappointment was the lack of evening entertainment. There was live music on several evenings but it was as a background to dinner in the Restaurant. Nothing was provided after dinner in any lounge or suchlike. Tips....... Search out West End Travel for your car hire requirents (a 10 minute stroll left along the seafront). They were fine for us and substantially cheaper than the company recommended by the Holiday rep. Also there are no extra charges and no excess (make sure that is the understanding). We got a seven seater Nissan Serena for Cyp £161 for 1 week. Try the Bay Tree Cafe for quality UK food (run by Harry Kewin from the Isle of Man). Harry produces a quality Brandy Sour. Starbucks is a five minute walk around the corner from the Hotel. For cheap & cheerful food and drinks, visit Lidos on the seafront. The period when we stayed here coincided with the Limassol Carnival and there were very few Brits staying at the Hotel. We were "invaded" by about 150 Greeks from the mainland for a period of about four days. The hotel was otherwise quiet at this time and appears to cater as much for business clients as holidaymakers. It did not appear to be a bucket & spade sort of hotel but that might change in the summer season.
Wouldn't go back
Stayed her for 2 weeks in December. The staff was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! Spoke very good English too! The activities coordinator lent us movies to take up to our room so the kids could watch on laptop. The downside.. upon checkin, our room was very dark and dismal. The balcony on the higher floor is very tiny. If you get a room on the 1st floor, you'll have a HUGE deck which is really nice! The room was clean enough, but there were stains on the carpets. Be sure NOT to let the top comforter touch your skin either. There was blood on one of ours, and stains on another. REALLY GROSS. The food was terrible. We had half board, and ended up going to TGI FRIDAYS right around the corner numerous times. VERY EXPENSIVE but SOOO good. My husband couldn't eat most of the food it was just so gross. I choked a lot of it down, just cause we were paying for it. The pool in the month of December wasn't heated, so unfortunately, the kids only swam twice. They really should've heated the pool for everyone. Not a place for young people. Most people were 60+ yrs. Although, they absolutely loved our children and were so friendly! The lobby was clean and beautiful, but the smoking was insane. You can't go anywhere in Cyprus without smoke everywhere. The family bowling alley SPACE BOWL was a thick cloud of smoke and the people there were not friendly at all. The cab drivers were great and didn't overcharge foreigners. There really isn't much to do with children in LImassol. We went across the road to the beach on the sea, and we found a syringe there with a whole wad of cigarette butts. The beaches are not kept neat or clean. Actually pretty scary. The location was fairly good. Across from the sea. It was a 5 pound cab ride into Limassol, and just up is the really good, yet VERY EXPENSIVE shopping street. There is a zoo just up the road within walking distance, and a free park with lots of playground equipment. The driving is absolutely scary there, and makes you nervous to walk down the street. Especially with kids. Being in the cab makes you nervous because they drive very fast over there. You would definitely not want to "hire" a car over there. Be aware also, that if you're going in the winter season, cruises don't run, and tours are cancelled often due to numbers. We had a trip to Egypt planned (only 45 minute plane ride) and it was cancelled because there weren't enough people. Then we were leaving, so we lost out. Another couple had a cruise planned, and lost out cause the ships don't run in the winter. All in all, we were unhappy with our stay. The smoking, food, driving, and freezing cold pool weren't much fun. Wouldn't go here again. Wouldn't go to Cyprus again in December. If you go to Cyprus, make sure you go 5 ***** all the way, no matter what the difference in price. That is the best tip I have. The 4 seasons was beautiful. Try that hotel instead!
new year break
We stayed at this hotel for a week over the new year holiday. It was our opinion that this hotel was no more than a 3 star establishment and is certainly not suitable for anyone under 60 at this time of the year. On the plus points, the staff, without exception, were wonderful and the rooms and communial areas were spotlessly clean. However, the food was poor. The hot breakfast items were so overcooked they were inedible and the cold items poorly presented. The evening meals were equally overcooked and I have never stayed at a hotel in Europe that did not offer ice cream and cheese board as standard every night. The entertainment was non existent unless you were holidaying with 'Saga' who had there own bar area and entertainment programme. The area around the hotel was pleasant, plenty of bars and restaurants close by and the newly finished promenade made it a very pleasant 20 minute walk to the old town. We have spent the last 6 new year holidays at the Atlantica, but went to the Kanika because the Atlantica is being refurbished and up graded. Although the Kanika had its good points, the Atlantica was a far better all round hotel.
just fine thanks
Nice quality hotel, one strange thing was that tea and coffee making equipment was only available for a price- and only if you let them know before the housekeepers left for the day (before we arrived). Room was comfortable. The inside of the hotel is a lot nicer than it seems from the outside. The hotel is central between the center of town and the tourist area.
Nice restful time
A beautiful hotel tucked away just off the front at Limassol. The hotel is a nice quiet retreat in winter with lovely rooms and a beautiful restaurant with excellent buffet meals. Evening meal is always based around a theme - chinese, Italian, Greek etc. Pleanty of lounge space and a nice bar. Pools are good although the weather wasn't really kind enough for us to use them during our stay. Easy walking into Limassol or further up the coast. Staff very friendly and helpful.
3 night stay
Stayed as part of a an add-on to a package holiday. Staff were pleasant but hotel has seen better days. Bedroom carpet badly stained, bathroom tiles badly chipped. Our room overlooked pool with sea view to side. We could hear traffic but did not keep us awake. Only had dinner there on the first night (French Buffet) which was OK but after breakfast only coffee offered was instant Nescafe (served as a jug of hot water with sachets). Fortunately there was a Starbucks round the corner. Kettle and trays in rooms were offered as extras but when we asked for one they had run out of kettles. Position OK if you like to eat in Sports Bars with english-style food.
2 weeks stay
This was a comfortable hotel and we had a nice room on the top floor overlooking the mountains and the sea, pity that the dual carriageway outside was never quiet and at weekends seems full of noisy motorbikes rushing up and down. The TV service is actually chargeable although there are big screens downstairs. Food was based each evening on a theme, (buffet style), interesting but generally only lukewarm and tablespoons served as soup spoons! Staff are helpful and pleasant and the hotel is situated within walking distance of the the old town using the seafront path or past the small shops and cafes. If you like cats there are masses of semi feral cats on the seafront towards the harbour end.
Great stay at the Kanika
Having booked the Kanika Pantheon almost a year prior to travelling in October 05, we had been searching during that time, without avail, for reviews. Consequently we were hoping that the website would be a reasonably accurate reflection of the hotel. We need not have worried. On arrival at midnight on first day, and as a result having missed dinner, we were told that we could have lunch and dinner the following day. We were also given the option of lunch or dinner every day. Staff were very friendly and always willing to assist. Rooms were typical hotel rooms, cleaned every day with fresh towels. Bathroom small but adequate. Food was very good. A different theme each night and a duo providing live music. Breakfast included sausage, bacon, eggs fried or scrambled and tomato plus all the usual items for continental. There is an “Irish Bar” O’Briens in the hotel but probably because of the location it does not attract anyone other than guests. Happy hour every evening 7 to 8 but changed to 5.30 to 6.30 during our stay. There are two outdoor pools and a nice area for sunbathing. Never seemed to be a scarcity of sunbeds, and the hotel was full even though technically it was off season. We could not find anything about the hotel to complain about. It is off the main street ( which is very busy) so was always quiet at night. We choose Limassol as we were there for a football match and that’s where most of the fans stayed. If I were going to Cyprus again I think I would probably go to Paphos ( which we visited) of Protarus. Hotel is about 3K from the centre of Limassol. Taxi fare 5CYP = 9 euro . There are a number of restaurants and bars in the area. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay on the outskirts of Limassol
