We were very disappointed with our stay here especially for the price that we paid!
The decor of the hotel is very dated and the facilities are basic.
The rooms are clean but old looking and the view is of buildings.
The food was the same every day very basic.
The best things about this hotel were the very pleasant Czech lady working in the restaurant who always has a smile and the cats!!
These were the main attractions for the many children staying there.
We would not return!

we stayed in the golden arches for 42 nights, and were very pleased after all the horror stories we had read.the hotel is a bit dated, but we had very good service, there was always hot water, the beds were changed often, and you could have clean towels when you wanted.we found the room plenty big enough.the bar was very good with a good choice,as for the food there was always something to eat as you had a choice.the staff where spot on ,always there to please.not a lot to do in evening but this may change in summer.the hotel is a long way from main town, but the buses are good.for the money we paid we thought it was very good and would go again.we have been to a lot worse

Ok If you are under 75 and a couple do not go here it is far too boring, nothing to do, expensive bar prices and piss poor food.
The hotel is on the top of an 80 degree hill, the cars struggle to drive up it.
You need a taxi to the main strip and cannot walk it, the beach is on the other side of the dual carriage way however it is a rocky volcanic beach and you will not be sunbathing.
We ended up driving to Aiya Nappa every day as it was far too boring for us around there.
The staff are rude, the food is the same every night it really is awful but it is cheap
If your looking for a recluse and to be out of the way its fine but its the type of place your nan would like.
The corridors have big windows at the end of them so during the day doors contstantly slam the room is nothing to write home about and they cleaned every 2 or three days.
The reception looks nice but it is very dated, feels like your in the seventies...

We stayed at the Golden Arches Hotel from Sunday 23rd- Sunday 30th December. After reading the reviews we were oh my god what have we done, but we found the hotel not too bad at all.
The rooms were clean and we didn't see any cockroaches the whole time we were there. Food was not fantastic but always fresh, we found the water pressure very slow and did have a bath and shower, but Cyprus does have a water shortage at present so this may of been why the pressure was slow. The lifts are very small and doors do shut very quickly and you need to press the floor you are on button very quickly to avoid them shutting on you.
The hotel is very close to a busy main road and can be quite noisy at times, although the hotel is very near to lovely beach and lots of restaurants and souvenir shops. A 30 bus stops very close to the hotel and goes into Limassol centre for 80 cents.
All in all we found the hotel not too bad, cleaners came everyday and fresh towels were always available. We did speak to a few people with children who were not happy as there was nothing for children there apart from the swimming pool. The hotel staff were friendly but we found entertainment very basic unless your over 50, and you've drunk all the all inclusive drink you can manage, and then your partner may get chased by the very drunk sex deprived 50 something who's excited by the karaoke there (if you understand what I mean) no names mentioned.
But all in all we would come back to Golden Arches and if you want a good budget hotel where you get what you pay for then this is the one.

What a dump, it was advertised as "all inclusive" couldn’t have club sandwiches, frappe, ice-cream, crisps you had to pay for it.
The drink stopped at 11.00pm after that you had to pay for them. Wasn’t much choice for dinner, breakfast was a joke "fried ham" for bacon, small frankfurters for sausages and scrambled egg which you cut like a cake!
The decor was so old and dirty the room we stayed in had just been decorated by a blind person! Paint all over the light switches, the walls lights -well they dropped the top half of the lights so the bulbs didn’t show at the bottom.
The beds weren’t changed for two weeks! Toilets rolls you had to fight for them, I had to sneak out and take them from the maids trolley, the bathroom mirror wasn’t polished all the time we were there, fag burns in the bedding, and one member of staff was visiting the neighbour! I'll leave that to your imagination.
The bar staff were overworked and underpaid, it wasn’t there fault - blame the owners. At weekends the hotel let out the dining area for private functions so when you wanted your lunch you were put in the corner.
The lift was continuously broken people got stuck in it more times than I can remember, the bell went and nobody took any notice.

This was our second holiday this year so we was really looking forward to it.
On arriving at the hotel about 1am, first impressions were nice, clean and the gentleman behind reception was really friendly. He pointed us to the lift and explained we were on the 5th floor but to be quick getting in and out the lift as the doors would close on you! But never mind all lifts have problems so we got into the room, it was clean and had a balcony overlooking the pool.
Brilliant I thought as I unpacked 1 week away from everything, until my boyfriend got into bed and found he was sharing the bed with a cockroach! But not to put us off we got rid of it and tried to get some sleep.
Getting up about 11am we decided to try the pool bar for lunch. There was plenty on the plate but didn’t taste of much so we went in hope to find the 'beach'! 20minutes later we were still looking for sand! Yes there was the sea with a jetty going out to it but no beach! So back to the pool where we got a sunbed and had a relaxing day round there.
Then we tried to use the shower, no hot water and very little water even coming out of it!
Then it was the evening meal well let’s just say we never went in the restaurant again! The food was cold and the worst I had ever eaten! The sign said Greek night so there we were waiting and waiting until we asked what time the entertainment would start and got told there wasn't any!
Getting to the end of the week glad to go home for some nice food and a good night’s sleep without worrying about a cockroach what crawls up the wall but yes yet another cockroach! So that was about the 6th one we had seen all week!
All in all I would never go back to that hotel and if you’re going - good luck!

This was our second stay at the Golden Arches Hotel having also stayed there in May 2006. We consider the hotel to be good value for money. It is basic and the choice of food is limited, but it's clean and the staff are helpful and friendly.
We also consider the hotel to be well located as there are bus stops outside the hotel with buses to take you into town and other places and the beach is right opposite the hotel. We stayed there for 3 weeks this year and found plenty to do. We are in fact going to go back to the Golden Arches for a further 3 weeks next year 2008, and hopefully meet up with the many friends we made there this year.
So, overall, it's basic, clean and well located. What more do you expect for such a low price?

Please please listen to this if you have children. We stayed there from the 27/6/2007 we were promised entertainment in the evening and during the day, there was none.
When I say none that is exactly what you got - nothing. The children were bored to tears as were we, infact the best comment I heard was from an elderly couple who said they were looking for a quiet holiday but didn’t expect to be sent to a library.
The food was disgusting probably the worst I have had in twenty years of holidays, All inclusive meant nothing, there was only a window of one hour between lunch and evening meal that they were available but the standard was so bad we only ordered once and to add insult to injury, if you were not all inclusive you were offered a better standard?
This hotel was full of Russians and seemed to only cater for them; we were one of only three English families there.
In my opinion it would not rank three stars in holidays from hell you have been warned.

After reading the previous reviews, after I had booked the holiday I thought Oh dear.
On arriving just in time for breakfast we thought lets sample the disgusting food what everyone writes about. Well it was basic, food was fresh, restaurant was clean and overall it filled the gap, just like all the meals did through our stay.
The staff were friendly and helpful when help was needed. The entertainment was poor but was able to make own entertainment. It is a little out of the way so a taxi is required to get to the town centre but they are easily available.
The swimming pool was nice, big, and clean and loads of sun beds.
The rooms were basic, bed was comfy, air conditioning worked perfectly but some people we did meet said theirs did not work but it was fixed straight away, the shower could have been a little more powerful and I think the cleaning staff could invest in a new vacuum cleaner.
Overall a basic, clean hotel but what do people expect for the price would consider going again. Would recommend to hire a car it is very easy to drive in Cyprus and we never got lost once.

Right then, let me be clear about the 8/10 rating. Value for money.
Hotel advertised as having a complete refurb in 2004. That's Cypriot for a lick of paint.
Golden Arches is a 70's hotel that's stuck there with no hint of Y2K.
That said, it's basic but clean and when you've only paid £520 for 2 people for a foreign holiday what do you expect?
Plenty of Brits moaning esp about the food which was very poor. But with plenty of bars and restaurants on the doorstep offering superb value for money meals, what were they on about?
Just because you have paid for half-board doesn't mean you HAVE to eat there every night when there's a brilliant alternative!
If you're looking for 4* accommodation, avoid GA like the plague. If you just want a bed for the night and some fine eateries within easy reach, book it now but don't pay top dollar or you will be disappointed.
We found the staff helpful & courteous at all times. Take some ear plugs though as the local boy racers love to bring their Evos & Subarus out to play at all hours and you can't fail to be disturbed, as the main road doubles for Santa Pod raceway!
Would we go back? Possibly if the cost remained as low, but there are much better places to stay. Hotel 4/10, experience 8.

Well what can I say about the Golden Arches Hotel, what a horrible week we had.
My girlfriend and I decided on a relaxing holiday in Cyprus so we went half board at the G/Arches.
The worst part was the food breakfast consisted of fried eggs floating in hot oil cold, hard sausages and re-fried bread that was rock hard not very appetising and not very nice. Evening Meal was just as bad especially the "Mashed Potatoes" which I thought was soup!
Our room had 2 rock hard beds that we had to push together and one pillow there was also a loud creaking sound every time someone used the lifts. If someone in the room next door was having a bath or a chat or watching telly you could hear everything and I mean everything!
The reception staff were useless but the housekeepers were very good indeed. If you end up in the Golden Arches if you can move if you cant then don’t eat there.
Eat either in Franx up the street or in Al Pesto to the left up the street they are very good. I know I probably sound like a grump but it really was that bad, we nick named it Faulty Towers.

Reasonable value for money.
Upgraded on arrival from half-board to all-inclusive for £C10 per head, well worth it, if only for regular drinks. Food not brilliant : breakfast adequate choice, same for evening meal, some of which was excellent, but don’t hold your breath on 'carvery night' as there was only boiled ham joints. The mid-day bar meals and poolside snacks leave a lot to be desired - but kept the kids quiet. The Pizza is disgusting, and quality of chips hit and miss.
Only one internet computer, 50c for 10 mins, and the stuff about the right hand side lift is true, you have to be quick getting in/out.
Rooms were clean and had TV and balcony, restricted sea view, but at least its a sea view. Pool good, and plenty of sun beds.
Staff mainly good, best 2 bar staff is a young blonde guy and woman, whilst a small dumpy woman with dark hair and glasses is just miserable and ignorant.
All-In gets you local spirits and beer (Keo - quite nice) until 11pm, although you'd drown before you got drunk on the local spirits, I paid the difference to upgrade to named brands. All-in-all we had a good family holiday.

I read the other comments before I went on holiday, and thought to myself that Ill bear them in mind, however I always like to make my own decision.
Anyway, the hotel pool area was excellent - no complaints at all, always enough beds and lots of space. Pool always clean.
Evening Meals - very poor, bland and of little choice. Every meat dish we chose was very fatty and of poor quality. Greek night was not a real Greek night, only 2 Greek options - Stifado or holumi cheese and that was it.
Breakfast, hot choices very poor, fresh orange was just cheap cordial.
Lunch, was very poor, the all inclusive menu is different to the normal paid snack menu, and you can tell, its poor quality - which makes pizzas with tomato ketchup topping on the base??? Stick to the Village Salad, which is a nice Feta cheese salad.
Rooms - very nice, side sea view which was lovely, rooms clean, towels clean if you put your dirty ones in the bath. TV poor - only 1 English speaking channel.
Entertainment - what entertainment - says no more!!!!!
Too many weddings every night that takes up the full hotel.
Staff - 50/50 - some were really miserable, others really friendly.
Our best meal was on the last day after we had checked and went to Franx just along the load - well worth going, excellent food and reasonably priced - well worth a visit.
I would stay in this hotel, but on a B&B basis only, and visit the many good quality restaurant and bars along the main street. The All inclusive package is certainly not worth the money we paid.
