Sheraton has de-branded this hotel - still an SPG property but future uncertain
Sheraton recently de-branded this hotel on 7th at 51st. It is still an SPG property but its future is unclear. Its restaurtant - Russos - wil be closing this month so ther will be no hotel breaklfast, bar or food at the hotel. Not a problem with so much around the neighborhood. Hotel is a bit rundown and SPG will have to refurbish if it stays a hotel. It was great place for my family stays right near Times Square & Theaters and with a large pool in 7th floor - unusual for a midtown hotel. Service is ok but spotty. Look for bargains if... more
Great location, good service, good value
We got in to NYC early and when we arrived they let us get in before check-in time, and upgraded us to a King vs Queen. This was great after traveling all night and needing a shower. The pillows and beds were fabulous! We had a great view of Broadway (Dave Letterman!) and the heat control was perfect. We were not phased by the need for a few upgrades such as bathroom tile, ceiling, hairdryer as the view, TV and beds made up for it. Comes with a safe and coffee maker. If you are first timers like us in NYC your room... more
Smallest rooms ever
Room was so small there was about 1.5' to walk around the foot of the bed - you had to do this to get to the dresser and desk. Had to stand to the side of the toilet to be able to close the door to the bathroom. NOISY - heard every slamming door all night long.
WORST HOTEL EVER!
I booked that Hotel with BOOKING.COM in march thinking it was a Sheraton Hotel. They changed their name in April as I was coming. Never received anything to let us know about changes. We booked a deluxe room and pay for that but the Hotel told us there are NO MORE deluxe rooms in that hotel as there are ALL standards. They obvioulsy accusing BOOKING.COM and the others do NOT want to take any responsability. I just wanted to change hotel as our room smelled of cigarettes and didn't want to stay 7 days in that hotel. It feels more like a... more
Staff makes a big difference
As soon as I got to the front desk to check in to check in, my sister and I met with friends. Louise Rechlis ask and then accommodated us to a room on the same level as our friends. She didn't stop there she told us if we needed anything to ask for her at front desk and we did, a bunch of times. She always went out of her way for us and helped willingly with a smile on her face. to top it off she helped all 3 days with attractions. We got to New York for a John Mayer concert and left doing much more. - Thank you Louise.... more
I was very impressed at the efficiency and greeting which I had by your deskclerk Louise Rechlis.
I had the occassion to stay at this hotel and when I checked in I was greeted by the staff at check in. The person who checked me in was very fast and efficient and handled my check in in a very effiicient way. I was in my room alot faster than I expected. She was polite and friendly and I asked her name. She told me her name was Louise Rechlis. She seems to know her business and is an asset to this hotel. It is a pleasure to see someone with a smile and disposition as Louise. I had a good stay and would recommend this hotel as a very... more
Great value for a convenient location
While there is nothing spectacular about the Sheraton Manhattan, it is a decent hotel that is surprisingly spacious (by NYC standards). It's your run of the mill older hotel that has seen better days but you can't beat the location and especially the value (~$150/night). The lobby is average and there's a restaurant/bar in it that's ok to have a drink. There's a nice bar (Rosie O'Grady's) across the street and there's a convenience store nearby to grab cheaper priced beverages and snacks. I've stayed at hotels in NYC that are... more
ignore petty complaints
spent 5 days at the hotel and was quite worried having read the reviews before we went that people had written about this hotel . we were delighted with our stay exelent clean bedding and laundry, the room was spotless every day on our return, plenty of toiletries supplied every day and wonderful comfy beds. the location could not be better for getting around. one little moan we never had enough tea bags ! one or two a day is not enough, l know we are in the usa but a few more would have been nice. lgnore the petty comlaints on here they are... more
Disappointed
We have stayed at the Sheraton NY Hotel and Towers across the street and had a wonderful experience, but unfortunately, it was booked this time. We thought we were safe staying at a sister hotel, but we were wrong. The hotel is run down and in desperate need of a facelift. We came to find out that it was changing hands April 1 (The day we checked out) and hopefully undergoing renovations. Cable went out after a mild rain and didn't come back on for days. No room service which is unlike a Sheraton. I would wait to book this hotel again until... more
Great Location
Great Location for Times Square. Right outside the Hotel you see all the flashing lights etc, however it is far enough away to be able to sleep :-) We had a young family and actually managed to get a family room, which was on the side of the Hotel - which proved to be a bit quieter and the room was a bit bigger. The Hotel has a great Internet Cafe below, and its all about Location, Location, Location. It was good to be able to walk around the Big apple without needing a cab or otehr transport, although it was good to get on the on-off bus,... more
