Booked this trip for my children who were celebrating their 18th and 21st Bit=rthdays this year. Went with sister and friend, 5 of us in total.
Room had 2 queen beds and 2 bathrooms. Very clean and cleaning service good. Only disappointment was no t amaking facilities and no minibar/fridge for keeping water cool.
Location fantastic and would recommend hotel. Right nect to subway to make yor way uptown/downtown - 4 ride journey for $7. Quick walk to Macys and ESB, and right next door to Madison SQ Gardens. Plenty of shops nearby with the only the need for A & F, Bloomies and Tiffanys at Fifth Avenue, Ann Taylor, Gap, H& M,Old Navy, Daffys and Victorias Secret all close by for some shopping, and of course Macys.
A rdie out o Woodbury Common will take about 1hour and a half on the bus from 42nd Street Buss Station.
Tick tock diner straight through the lobby at hotel was a great place to eat in the morning before you head out, generous portions and at about $15- $20 dollars each for brekkie with tea/coffee and large juise is just the ticket to set you up for the day.
Recommend tript o Ellis Island and take a free guided tour, it has a fascinating history and holds a few stories told brilliantly by our guide - who' sname I forget!
All in all a fab time was had by all and my children have emptied out all the Benefit make up stands in Macys and Bloonies and Sephora - a chique make up heavan if you arer into all that stuff, kids tell me they saved a fortune!!!

Reading the reviews I was getting worried; about the hotel New Yorker for my forthcoming stay thankfully the negative reviews are UNJUSTIFEIED. This hotel is one of the best located in New York with Madison Square Garden, Macys, Times Square and Empire State Building all within 10 minutes walk or less.
The Tick Tock Dinner attached is typical of New York grub (fast food) and is fairly ok, the bar in the hotel serves till 4am and the bar staff are great.
Room was small but spotless and cleaned everyday, a nice flatscreen TV was also a bonus. Air Con worked a treat.
I haven’t an idea as to what sort of subways the last reviewer has been on but this hotel is well worth a visit.
Every member of staff I encountered was friendly and polite.

I have stayed in the New Yorker for 4 years running and i cannot fault this hotel myself and 2 friends stay in suite 2430 every time, which had a fantastic view of the Empire State building.
The suite was very spacious and comfortable, also the location of this hotel is excellent, right across the street is Madison Square Gardens and Penn Station and 34th street is only mins away.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and I myself am going back again in September and its also good value for money, anyone staying in a suite has breakfast included in the price. The breakfast room has a fantastic view of Manhattan.
Staying in the New Yorker definitely made our stay in New York a happy one.

We stayed 5 nights here and found this hotel to be an excellent location for all the city sights!
The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. I reckon for the price, you cannot go wrong.
The Tick Tock cafe on the ground floor is open 24hours, is cheap and the meals are fantastic.
The people at the hotel are helpful and really offer good services.
Through the hotel we booked a cruise on the Hudson River and this was lovely to see all the sights of an evening. Take a trip to Harlem on a gospel tour and you won’t be disappointed.
Again, wherever you want to go in the Big Apple, I would recommend this hotel fully and I and partner are hoping to return this year and yes, we will be booking this hotel again!

What a dump! This was our first visit to New York and what an introduction. Fortunately we were only staying two nights before setting off on a coach tour of the Eastern USA and Canada.
We had a room, if you could call it that, more like a broom cupboard, on the 20th floor that overlooked other rooms. The air conditioning was so noisy you couldn't sleep so you had to turn it off - not practical in the middle of a heat wave. It was also operating on a motion sensor so that when nobody was in the room it switched off. Imagine what it was like coming back into the room having been out all day with the temperatures in the 40s - didn't need to find a sauna. The decor was insipid and the wallpaper was falling off. A tatty piece of paper on the bed proclaimed that the hotel was in the middle of a multi million dollar refurb but we never saw any signs of any work and I think it really needs a multi billion dollar refurb.
The Tik Tok Diner was ok, the food was edible with big portions but overpriced, however, the service was a bit hit and miss.
The only saving grace is the location. It is central for just about anywhere, in particular, Madison Square Gardens, The Empire State, Penn Station and Macy's (1 block).
They say that first impressions count. This was my first impression of New York and I was ready to pack my bags and go home, fortunately I didn't. It was interesting to discover on returning home that the tour company has dropped the hotel for next year's tours.

Brilliant location and reasonably priced. Ask for a room at the front of the hotel and you'll have wonderful views of the Empire State Building. Across the road from Madison Square Gardens and walking distance to most places. Very handy subway station round the corner. Staff were friendly and the rooms are small, but kept very clean.
Tick Tock Diner in the hotel serves a great greasy fry up 24-7, with prompt service but is overpriced.
Visit the Empire State Building early to avoid the queues and to be able to take photographs from the top without people getting in your shots.
Greenwich has great shops, cafes and bars for a relaxing day out. Allow plenty of time to check in at JFK as security checks take ages.

This was the worst hotel I have stayed in NYC. The building is pretty impressive from the outside (Art Deco). The lobby is also impressive, with large chandeliers and flat screen TV's behind reception.
Unfortunately that is where good stuff ends. After a long wait for a lift to the 23rd floor we were greeted with a long, dingy, dirty corridor. The rooms are tiny, worn and not very well equipped. The bathrooms are painted in a horrible green colour and the toilets, sinks, baths and showers are a funny yellowy/cream colour. Shower pressure and temperature is variable.
The Tick-Tock diner in the lobby is fine when you are drunk but don't look too closely at what you are eating! Apart from the location (straight across the road from Madison Square Gardens) this hotel has few redeeming features.

A very good hotel - very clean and basic but SO central. Right outside the Empire State building and Penn Station.
The staff were very helpful and the air conditioning worked superbly - have stayed at more expensive places which did not! A very good coffee shop in the foyer, and a very reasonable restaurant for evening meals. A thoroughly good value hotel.

This was our first trip to New York (3 females) The hotel was tatty, dirty with long corridors more in keeping with a subway or tube station. The rooms are tiny and the air conditioning so loud we had to turn it off at night if we wanted a decent night’s sleep. Everyone in New York is loud, in a hurry, extremely rude and unhelpful. The hotel is however very centrally situated, close to the Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens, Macys, subway/train station etc.

First off, I have to say, if you have never been to New York, you must try and get there at least once in your lifetime. This was my first experience of the Big Apple and a special birthday treat for my wife.
The first thing you notice about NY in February is the cold, -6 was about the average, but add the wind chill factor and your looking at -20, so take your thermals! Once you hit the streets on the sightseeing trail though, you tend to forget about the cold, but alternatively, you could always jump in a famous NY Yellow cab to get where you want to go. And to warm up there are plenty of coffee shops to frequent to refuel!
We stayed in the Ramada New Yorker Hotel on 8th avenue, which was about a 10 minute walk to Broadway. New Yorkers don’t tend to walk anywhere, so if a local tells you it’s too far to walk to, think again! You can walk from Broadway/Madison Square Garden down to ground zero/wall street in about 50 minutes. Transport is obviously quicker, but you don’t see the sights on the way.
The hotel was very pleasant, and considering the outside temperatures, very warm. The Tick Tock Diner is attached to the hotel, which recreates a US diner of the 50's, is very reasonably priced, and the portions will fill the heartiest of appetites. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, covering all types of cuisine, so you will never stay hungry for long.
I had been told before I went that the people of NY were quite rude, but everyone that we came into contact with, whether in a shop or serving in a restaurant, would always greet you with a smile and the obligatory " - your welcome".
If you are not running to a tight budget then I recommend splashing out on a helicopter trip, which goes down the Hudson, around the Statue of Liberty and back up again. You are only in the air for around 10 minutes, but on a good clear day, the views are fabulous, the perfect way to see that awesome skyline.

Me and my family went to New York on a tour of America. My Uncle had to change his room because it was so filthy and stinky! I can't even call it a hotel. The air conditioning is so noisy & the rooms were so cramped. on the other hand the food was lovely and the location was perfect. We had breakfast at a local cafe & let me tell you if you do go to new york you must try their PANCAKES!
I thought the staff were unhelpful and disobedient! Some I found were quite racist. We had to fight to get my Uncles room (which had bugs in it, and smelt like a horse in August!)
I still enjoyed new york because, well its NEW YORK but if you do go to new york do NOT stay at the Ramada. Nice view and location but terrible rooms and service!
