Not Bad
from LAFRAGIA
We stayed at the Doubletree one night. We had a late check-in. We got to the airport. Possibly had to wait 5 minutes for their shuttle. We arrived and checked in with no problems. Maybe a two minute wait to check-in. After a long flight, the warm cookies upon arrival was a perk. The room was very clean. The beds were super soft and they had Sweet Dream pillow. How cute. We did have sweet dreams. There was a nice plasma TV, but we were too tired to watch it. There was free wireless internet service too. We had roomservice deliver breakfast...

Restaurant - Staff ignored me.
from MineinUSA
Couldn't believe that I stayed at a Hilton of this quality.. I sat in their restaurant for over 30 minutes before some one asked me if I wanted something to drink.. I finally ordered a salad.. another 20 mins waiting for that.. won't stay there again.. Most of the staff stood at the door and had a long conversation.. ignoring their customers.. I stopped at the gift shop. Note on the door read be back in a few minutes.. 30 mins later..
Won't be back.

Stayed two nights at the Doubletree for a nearby business meeting. Called twice for a shuttle from the airport and the phone was not answered. The room was OK, needed updating, and was fairly clean (met my standard but not my wife's). Dining is an issue, as the restaurant and bar are mediocre, with no obvious nearby options by foot. A $16 burger in a Manhattan hotel is one thing, but here? Desk staff was friendly. I didn't price other hotels near the airport, but will next time.
Under performng- lots of troubles- go somewhere else

One night. July 7, 2007 - I arrived tired from the 8 hour flight from Paris and then started my Journey to the Doubletree JFK., I wanted a hot bath, a Burger and was looking forward the Sweet Dreams bed and unwinding in the bed.. Calls for the shuttle went to voice mail 6 times at 9:00pm. Check in went fast and Hilton Honors helped expedite the process. Mildew invasion in the bathtub/shower. Broken off soup dish, plastic molly bolts still in the wall. Wallpaper peeling in more than spot in the bathroom. Went to start the...

Nice Place!
from twatkins1501
Recent stay for a wedding on Long Island. Hotel staff wonderful and quick to accommodate room adjustments. Got worried on earlier posts, but found the room clean, updated furniture and the bathroom amenities suprising. Great location from JFK. Caution: The keys do not work well. I had to be rekeyed each day. The restaurant food is so-so and not any choices nearby. Find a diner, if possible. The TVs need updating (picture too dark & fuzzy).
Lucky to only have to stay one night
from Tracy-Seattle
Had late arriving flight from West Coast. Wanted to get to bed ASAP as had early morning connecting flight to Nairobi. Waited over an hour for the shuttle to arrive. They sent the small van instead of their bus to pick up several groups that had all called for pick-up. Received very noisy room next to freeway - quiter rooms must be in the back and given to Delta flight crews. Door was open when we arrived at the room-odd! Had booked triple room, but it was not set-up with third bed or extra set of towels. Could not get front desk or...

Good for one night !
from chiliyo
Our inbound flight got in at 11pm and our flight the next morning left at 8am so it was OK just to rest , take a shower and leave at the crack of dawn ... as a matter of fact I didn't even have time or energy to see what was up with the hotel. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean and for a quick overnight that is what counts. The hotel is less than a five minute complementary van ride from the gates at JFK and you can't beat that. I believe there is no better alternative in the JFK / Jamaica area.
A Great Option For JFK Travelers
from Observadora
If you need to sleep near the JFK airport, there are options. I read the reviews prior to our trip and was struck by the number of bad reviews for many of the nearby hotels. After a bad experience on our way out of the US at the Holiday Inn, I was determined to find a better place to stay on our way back. I am happy to report that the Doubletree was everything we were expecting. Granted, Jamaica is not a vacation getaway. The hotel is situated in what some people might deem a "rough" neighborhood, but we were happy to pay the $10 it cost...

What a Dump!
from Artistseye
What a dump! We needed a hotel near the airport for one night so we booked this because we normally love Doubletree. It was horrible. Dirty lobby and hallways. Grimy carpets and filthy furniture, tiny room. Heater did not work - it would only blow cold air. We made the mistake of eating dinner there - DON'T even consider doing this! It was the worst food value I've ever seen. $15+ for a cold chicken breast on stale roll and $16 for a cheese steak sandwich that had some kind of weird bbq sausce on it. Terrible service from our...

Rip off!
from skintstone33
Needed a hotel close to JFK but what a nightmare. Uninterested staff, lousy room facilities - no wardrobe or place to put my clothes, expensive bar and restaurant, decidedly unsavoury neighborhood and worn furnishings. Hotel tried to charge me for watching a movie at 3pm when I was at work all day, so I hope the cleaner made themselves comfortable in my room to watch the movie. Keycard failed on several occasions, no apology forthcoming when I had to go back to reception each time to get it reset. All this for $150 a day, you're better off...
