Horrible - DO NOT STAY HERE!
from VijayLondon
We were given a room that had no toilet seat, a blocked kitchen sink and the bedroom lights were not working. The smell of the room was horrible as the balcony was full of bird droppings. It was as if the area had not been cleaned for months. We continuously complained to the reception assistants who did absolutely nothing. The toilet seat was only changed after my husband continuously complained over a 24 our period. In that time we were using the main reception toilet. I wanted to come back to London as this was not how I wanted my holiday to be. I was very upset and I would have rather been at home than be treated so badly. The television was not working and was never fixed or replaced despite all of our complaints. I was very worried about the security of the resort as there was minimal lighting on the stairways at night. The lift never worked throughout our holiday. The main doors to the apartments were always open with no security guard in sight. I have travelled and stayed in many 4 star hotels in the world, but I have never seen a swimming pool in such poor condition as the one at Sun Hall. I was so worried about the people who were actually swimming as the surround was slippery as there were algae growing at the bottom of the pool. The staff were always so unhelpful. They would simply say that the maintenance people were out to lunch or were busy elsewhere and could not help with our complaint at present. AGENTS...STOP SELLING THIS HOTEL! IT IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF AND IS NOT 4 STAR!!!
Best thing about this hotel is the door out of it!!!!
from Hikell
I recently stayed at this hotel with some collegues. We are all travel agents and I can honestly say that this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!!! The view was beautiful as I had a room facing the marina, but apart from that there was nothing else nice about it, the staff were rude and very unhelpful the pool space was tiny, the hotel could have been doing with a revamp. I know that if any of my clients ask to go there then I will tell them honestly what I think. There is no way that this is a 4 star hotel I would give it a 2 star rating at a push.
Great Location: no other positives.
from sparklerhino
This is without doubt one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. I was unfortunate enough to stay for c.9 weeks whilst on business in Cyprus, and although the location is excellent, there is little else positive to be said. In that period I had several rooms, and none were any better than any others. The photos given of the hotel if you follow the link from the top of the page are at best imaginitive, the one of the pool is close to a visual lie. It is hard to recognise the reality of the shabby hotel from the glossy photos given. The easiest way to sum it up is to list the negative experiences: The hotel is shabby, and in many places actually dirty. There did not appear to be a working gym despite it being listed on the facilities. There were windows missing from fire doors and lights out on the staircase for the entire period I was there. The room fittings are poor, dirty and undermaintained. The bathrooms are dirty & damaged and the toilet seats yellowed from age / lack of cleaning. There appears to be no sound-proofing from either the road noise, the noise from any other room in proximity, or from the well-used function suites. There is no internet access / wi-fi, and the very public one pc for pay internet access in the foyer is an absolute rip-off. Each room has an adjoining door to the next room. This serves to lower the sound-proofing even further, and allows you to enjoy every conversation, phone call, nocturnal activity, cough - and cigarette taking place in the next room. Worse still, one night at about 4am, the man from the next room managed to unlock the adjoining door and walk into my room.... There are many other hotels in Larnaca. Stay at one of them. I could go on listing problems with this hotel ad infinitem.
A BAD EXPERIENCE
from realisticholidays
I'm glad I've discovered Tripadvisor, if only I knew about it two years ago before staying at the Sun Hall Hotel. I see the conditions at this hotel have not improved. My experience then was that the room was dirty, the bathroom disgusting, the toilet seat was yellow from lack of cleaning. We asked for a better room but the second was just as bad. The food was horrible and unrecognisable, for example chicken didn't taste like chicken, etc, and they used a lot of weird sauces, it was inedible. The staff pretended to not know what we were complaining about telling us their restaurant was highly thought of. The chairs in the dining room were all urine stained, I'm not kidding - that was because there were always large groups of elderly Saga holidaymakers aged between 75 - 90 who were entertained by a Cypriot woman who was patronising and condescending to them. The restaurant was however very busy with receptions or functions and these seemed to be well catered for but holidaymakers were given very poor quality, second rate food and service. Due to the functions there was live music quite often and this was very nice. The location was excellent. The reception staff were almost hostile let alone unfriendly. A very bad experience as hotels go.
Why Four Stars?
from Credimus
I wish that i had known about Trip Advisor before booking this hotel. Looks great from the outside but inside it's hell. The staff could not care less. Having stayed at four other hotels in Cyprus I find this very strange, my previous interaction with staff in other Cypriot hotels staff proved that he local people can be helpful and charming. Why the four stars? this is what I want to know. This hotel is a dump.
What A Place
from BBuae
I was horrified to read the reviews before I went (I had already booked). I thought it could not be that bad. Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The rooms were dirty and I had to share my room with cockroaches. I did complain and their answer was to leave a can of bug killer in my room. The staff's attitude is so what. The breakfast buffet had seen better days. They advertise having a full working gym(one of the reasons for my stay here). I had to ask for a key to the gym all the equipment was out of order and looked like someone had been physically ill over it. The multi gum had half broken cables and was so dangerous. The receptionists attitude was so what do you want me to do. I tried to get some satisafaction by asking why they advertised the place with a full working gym. I was also told when I booked on line that I would be charged when I got there. I thought that i should of had some sort of discount but no way as my account had been deducted even before I got there. I stayed in this place 9 years ago and it was a nice place then. Most of the hotels in Cyprus have the attitude if it ain't broke dont fix it. The hotels are antiquated and customer service does not exsist. I think the quality of visitor might be to blame for this. If people dont complain how can you expect things to get better. This place is owned by the priests they should be ashamed for the price they charge. No charity here.

Unfriendly and unhelpful staff at reception, they give you the feeling not to be very welcome! The facilities as awhole do not correspond to international standards of a socalled 4star hotel.
Needing renovations
from cyrus22
We booked over the net for 2 weeks from the 29 of December to the 12 Janaury 2006. We booked a one bedroom apartment. We found the location was great but the hotel/apartments does not do it any justice. The apartment is old and shabby and in need of a good renovation. They had left a hole in the wall that look like it was patched up. The oven door handle was broken the fridge door handle was broken, the bed was the worse bed we have ever slept on. The pillows were old and dirty and some of them once you took the pillow case off were full of old stains. There are no tea and coffee making facilities and they will not supply a jug. Apart from the location there is not anything good about this place, so think carefully before you stay there.
Do NOT stay here!!!!
from EnglishMaria
Do not be fooled by the pleasant exterior of this hotel. I stayed here with my parents for 10 nights in August/ Sept. This hotel is a dump. The decor is extremely tatty and dated, especially in the guest rooms - the bathrooms are grim, and the carpets are threadbare. The beds are very uncomfortable. I stayed here some years ago and was shocked at how badly it has deteriorated. It is absolutely appalling. HOW they can call themselves a 4 star hotel beggars belief. It is a shame i do not have photographic evidence to post here for your benefit! They nickle-and-dime you to death as well, extra charges for chairs, extra charge to use a lock and key in-room safe. I know a member of staff personally whose identity shall remain anonymous to protect the innocent, and i can tell you that the food on the breakfast buffet - that's right, eggs and all, are put out for 3 days running before they are considered too old t0 serve. This is apparent anyway from the rock-hard sliced break and opaque-looking fruit. We checked out 4 days early and booked into the Palm Beach Hotel on Larnaca Beach, a world away from this awful dive. Much nicer, excellent service, food and location right on the beach, lovely updated rooms.
Great Island, Nice Town, Average Hotel
from Bluebird_44
Just returned from our 10th visit to Cyprus - still love it. Larnaca is more of a residential town with tourism added on. Lovely promenade and the usual array of bars, tavernas, restaurants and fast-food oulets to suit every taste and budget. Beach is poor with virtually no sand, In fact its more like firm mud. Hotel is marketed as 4 star but is no more than 3 star at best - probably 2.5 star. Average food option, average rooms and a very small pool area which is not suitable for families with children. Larnaca would make a lovely day trip in a hire-car but don't make it your base for a week or two. But then...everyone to their own opinion.
We arrived on may 15 2009, a school class with parents. Many rooms were dirty, someone was locked in her room, in many rooms air conditioner did not work. Three times asked to fix the air conditioner in my room with no luck. Food was the same every day, nothing local in... more
