Sun Hall Hotel

we arrived and was told that half of our group did not have a apartment so they were put into hotel rooms to then be told by unfriendly staff that they would be moved to apartments. The aparments were clean and nice but we got stuck in a lift which had no light.. when we rang the alarm it did not work and so we were rescued by passers by...when we complained to hotel staff we were told that the alarms on the apartment lifts do not register to the reception and we must take the other lifts... after that we decided to take the stairs but there were no lights and no matter how many times we complained the lights were not fixed... the people in the apartment nxt door had alot of smoke coming from there room when we rang the fire alarm it did not work so we rang down to reception and they told us they would ring to see if it was a fire not one member of staff came to check if everything was ok... the one day we decided to eat at the buffet my friend found a piece of glass in her food and did not get as much as a apology.

Where shall I start? Unfriendly staff, filthy apartments - ours looked as though it hadn't been occupied for months. The kitchen was cockroach ridden and the veranda couldn't be used as it was no winder than me and my 6 year old daughter, and housed three air-conditioning units on it which made it well over 100 C degrees - so hot in fact the thermometer on one of the walls was broken! The only good thing about the apartment was it did have air con, and the friendly waitress who worked on the poolside bar - she couldn't do enough to help you. Shame the rest of the staff weren't more like her. In fact, because we were staying in the apartments rather than the hotel, we were made to feel like second-class citizens by the reception staff.
Final word -PLEASE don't go the the Sun Hall !!!

We stayed at the Sun Hall for New Year as a surprise for my mums 50th birthday. When we arrived I found the man in reception very rude, we had endured 15 hours of travelling and deserved more respect!
The hotel itself is clean although very dated and although it was too cold to use the pool it is as small as my bath tub and I doubt it would fit many people in it!
The food was great, plenty of choice and enough to fill us up each morning.
The staff were excellent, very friendly and extremely helpful.
Our room was 504 on the corner and it was massive. Plenty of space for us although it could do with a makeover. Air con and heating in every room that certainly helped in the cold nights.
Larnaca itself is very upmarket, lots of designer shops although I have to agree that there is nothing for children at all in this resort or indeed in the hotel.
It was a very long week trying to amuse 3 children in a place where there is nothing for them at all.
I would be happy to go back to the sun hall but only in summer and without any children.
New Year in Larnaca is something to be seen. There was a festival and fireworks and it was the best night of our holiday, there was even free beer and wine in the square.
Beware though because the square is next to the hotel and you will not get much sleep that night.
The main criticism that I have with the Sun Hall is that it seems to be used by locals for weddings, parties etc. and when the function rooms are in use the hotel guests get ignored.
The Olympic rep has an attitude problem, even moaning because we missed the welcome meeting at 10am, we didn’t arrive till 7am and were all in bed!
But all in all a very tiring week that deserved better weather!

We have just got back from a wheels holiday in the Sun Hall Hotel. We actually stayed in the apartments side of the building which is dated but the studio apartment was massive! As we were on the roof of the building our balcony was approx 20ft square and we had fantastic views of the beach and harbour. The facilities were good, very clean but the shower had the usual European no pressure. The staff were very helpful especially when we had a problem and we lost our room key!
They helped us by phoning round places we had been but eventually had to replace it. The pool area was ok but could have been a little smarter and we did notice that there wasn't a lot to do for children. Beware, there is a building site next door. Although it didn't bother us (they weren't doing a loud work) it may be annoying in the future although we were told the building will stop in August 2006 for a month.
The nightlife was ok but better in Ayia Napa. A return taxi costs £40. We had a good holiday and the hotel was a good base.

Room was clean, air conditioning great, light bulb out in corridor for entire holiday, could not sit on balcony as we were 5th floor but felt like tenth, had two children asked for lower floor on arrival, first choice rep rude and blurted out that they were not babies, nothing was done about that. Pool was small and pool area was small.
Larnaca resembles Trafford Park, as the view from our balcony can only be described as industrial. Food at hotel was good, only ate in restaurant a few nights, would not go back, did not enjoy at all, neither did the children, went to Ayia Napa for day that seemed more family orientated.

My mother and I booked last minute to our favourite resort in Cyprus this summer , we booked the sun hall hotel and after reading many bad reviews we were slightly worried. But I can assure you that the sun hall hotel is not bad at all!!!! We were pleasantly surprised at the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff especially the greeter in the main reception!
The hotel rooms where a good size and cleaned daily. We stayed on a half board basis for the week and the food was really nice. It is usually a buffet style but because there weren’t many guests on half board we had waiter service most nights.
The pool was an average size and there were plenty of sun beds to go around. But to be honest the hotel was really quiet considering their were many guests both in the hotel and the hotel’s apartments, it was very quiet and there was nothing too do in the evenings. Especially for the children.
But the location of the hotel is brilliant it's literally a minutes walk across the road to the beautiful sandy beach and is right in the centre of the main restaurants and bars in the town. The promenade is beautiful at night although there are a few building developments going on at the moment.
We had a fantastic holiday and will hopefully be returning to the sun hall hotel again!!!
