We traveled and stayed in The Le Meridien, Makadi Bay in June/ July 2006, staying for 1 week which was more than sufficient. The hotel is NOT a 5 star hotel and is reminiscent a 1950’s Butlins holiday camp, although at least Butlins did what they did well.
Staff at the hotel are generally friendly, however this is spoilt by a few very unprofessional staff asking or just helping themselves to cigarettes from guests, making derogatory remarks about paying guests, being inefficient and generally giving impression that everything was too much trouble. We were not able to access a room safe as they were unable to supply one and could only give one key for our accommodation.
I have stayed in various hotels ranging from 3 star to 5 star in Egypt and this hotel does not come close to a 5 star hotel. The rooms are basic and often a great distance from the main hotel, reception staff are extremely unfriendly, the food is very basic and the restaurant is more like a college canteen where you just want to eat and get out.
The location of the hotel is 25km’s south of Hurghada with a few other hotels also within the bay. Management have fully exploited the fact that the hotel has little competition in the immediate vicinity which is reflected in the more than 5 star prices charged within the shops in the hotel complex e.g., £4.50 bottle of coke.
If you want to enjoy a good holiday in the Hurghada area, then please do not book this hotel, there are plenty of 5 star hotels in Hurghada or El Gouna, where you will enjoy your holiday and which offer a true 5 star experience.

Fantastic holiday.
All the staff are friendly and helpful. They can seem a little overfriendly at times, especially towards single women, but this is expected anywhere you travel, and they are very good with children.
Food is lovely- this is a Muslim country so you're not going to get bacon, pork, ham etc so don't expect a morning fry up! The food is a mixture of Egyptian and Eastern food, with some Western dishes. The food is always fresh and high quality, with fresh-baked flatbread and your coffee/wine/beer will never be less than half-full, as waiters are on hand constantly to refill whenever you need it. If you're really fussy the posh restaurant, the room service and the bars all offer a choice of more Western foods.
Rooms are massive- the Dune rooms can be quite far away from the main hotel complex, but there is a free tuk tuk service to get you to and from.
Some negative points... if you have walking difficulties or aren't too fond of heights go for the room upgrade. The Dune rooms, while spacious and beautiful, can be a long walk away and quite often sit at the top of a long flight of stairs with no hand bar.
The reps and various sales agents around the hotel will approach you at breakfast to ask if you want to book in to the pay restaurant for that evening- they are very polite about it and not at all pushy- to us it felt like a part for the service but some may not like it.
The reps that sell the excursions will approach you while you're sunbathing to offer you the various excursions available. They're perfectly polite about it but will try to sell you every single excursion they have (that said, the excursions are well worth it!) so you do need to be a little firm when saying no.
Overall however, excellent food, friendly staff, efficient service and large, clean rooms. I will definitely recommend this hotel, and will be taking my family back next year!

The Hotel is definitely not 5 stars. At least not the Dune building we stayed in. The room was big, that much is true. But everything else left a lot to be desired. The furniture was worn out (looked second hand), the minibar was in terrible shape and it was supplied with drinks that varied from one day, which was weird considering that we've never took any drinks from it. But bottles kept appearing and disappearing. And the day before our departure they emptied it all together.
The cleaning guy was terrible. I don't know why we tipped him every day. All he ever did was spread the bed sheets. But only the ones on top. The one underneath was all wrinkled. The few drops of sun lotion that we spilled the first day were still dried up on the floor in the middle of the room when we left.
More than that, he came one day in the evening (5 am) and the other in the morning 9 am. And of course there were no towels to be changed. We hadn't had time to use them. But after that we had to reuse the towels until the next evening when he came again. We even had to throw out our garbage once, as it was getting full.
We were probably unlucky in this regard as other people at the same hotel were pleased with their cleaning.
The hotel was not all that crowded when we were there, so we didn't have problems getting a place by the pool or at the beach.
The coral reef is beautiful. If you're coming take your snorkel with you, you will have plenty to see.
The people in the shopping area were really annoying. It was not our first time in Egypt and we really didn't care for souvenirs. And everybody wanted 5 minutes to show us his shop. The Kodak guy I think was helping them, because he made us come back for our pictures about 5 times (the Kodak shop is in the shopping area). And I know he was doing it on purpose. He did the same to some friends of ours.
The food was disappointing. Last time we were in Hurghada we stayed at Melia Pharaoh Hotel and it was way better.
I know Egypt is not a rich country, but Melia Pharaoh is also in Hurghada, it is cheaper, it is closer to the center of the town, and it is better than Makadi Meridien in every respect.
At the end of our stay, when we were saying it was ok after all, they trashed our suitcase when they carried it from the room to front desk. Trashed = broke the handle and one of the wheels. I'm guessing they dropped it of the cart.
Some friends found a pocket torn in the corner, in the same process. So all in all, I would not advise anyone to go to this hotel. Go to Melia Pharaoh if you want decent services.

I hope that this review goes to the top of the list!
I think that some people need to remember that Egypt is a developing country, and what we may class as 5* over here is not 5* in Egypt, but all the same they are trying to attract tourists!!
I am 23 and my friend is 25, we went on a girls fun holiday, but wanted that added bit of luxury! And felt that we got far more than that!
The hotel on first impressions looked fantastic. I especially had a little fascination with the buggies that took you to your room, while the luggage followed shortly after.
After walking into the hotel on the evening thinking what are all those crazy people doing dancing around, and thinking I would never do that. Guess what the second night I didn't want to sit down and before we left, we were the ones that had almost turned into the animation team getting our friends who we'd met up and dancing.
The sun was fab during the day, we found plenty of space to get settled on the beach before having our daily morning games. I mean come on...we're not the type to get involved, but the animation team were so funny and made you want to enjoy their activities. I never thought I'd ever see myself playing boucha (bowls) but we did, nearly everyday! I did the belly dancing, which was hilarious, and I find it quite offensive of some comments, as there is certainly no way that I was overweight, making people sick, I think that is just cruel to say that in the comments below!
Besides that the food was fantastic, I am the world fussiest eater and I love plain food in England let alone elsewhere. I think the best thing about the Aladdin restaurant was that you had the facilities to try new things, made my eating habits much better! And I must say pancakes for breakfast were absolutely gorgeous!
It was only last week my friend and I were discussing the fact that the waiters and everyone was so helpful and you didn't have to do a thing for yourself!
We indulged in a massage, which was fantastic and would go highly recommended.
The camels, you can't go to Egypt without having a ride on the camels, this was excellent, and very funny!
Didn't get to do any of the other trips as we were content with the surroundings and just wanted to sunbathe, so we just went to relax and that's exactly what we did!
Although I felt I had to respond with some comments after the negative ones on here, as I know they are people's opinions, but what some people don't think is honestly how lucky we are over here, and I think it's people's ignorance as to why they don't understand and accept the different cultures in this world.
Final comment is. We liked it so much that we are planning to go back in September for two weeks this time, so it can't be bad!
Enjoy!

Well - where to start with it all!! If you are looking for a 5* hotel for you holidays then please continue to look - this probably rates as a 3* if that. The hotel is huge with over 1,000 rooms as a result everywhere you go there are people there (I know that sounds a bit odd but sometimes all you want is some peace and quiet) the pool area is vast and often if you are a late riser there isn't anywhere to go.
If you do find somewhere to go you will be constantly interrupted by the staff encouraging you to join in their "entertainment" - this can mean water aerobics or doing some kind of weird conga round the area. All very Butlins but the non English guests loved it and the sight of 20 overweight, sun burned women in bikinis congregating around the pool area in the mid day heat can make you want to reach back for your sick bag.
We went all inclusive as we are not exactly flush and we figured that we wouldn't need to spend much when we were there. The food is inedible to say the least and we my partner was very ill with food poisoning, as were a lot of other people we spoke to. The restaurants are vast in order to keep up with the food demand, and at times it looks like feeding time at the zoo. The hygiene is also very much in question, I heard one English guest demand to be moved as her room backed onto one of the restaurants and they had an infestation of maggots in there bathroom (no, I'm not making this up).
The hotel restaurants where you have to pay are very poor quality, really not worth it, the only half decent place is the bar on the beach and we lived on burger and chips for lunch our entire stay- you have to pay for ice creams and fruit juices which doesn't seem like a big deal but our hotel bill came to $90. The staff on the whole are fairly rude and you will be treated as a number not a guest. The only saving grace of this hotel is that it is right next door to a really decent hotel which has restaurants with decent food and service.
We read some reviews before we went and we took them all with a pinch of salt - if you have not paid for this holiday - please don't go, save yourself the hassle and money and book something decent.

The holiday was doomed from the beginning, I had an uneasy feeling about it a week before we went! Booked with Fleetway travel as they offered a good price £400 for a week AI. Took them 3 attempts to send the e mail confirmation with all information correct. Flight was great when we eventually left, over 4 hours behind schedule.
Excel were excellent, the best airline food I have ever had, so a thumbs up to them. Slightly bothered at Hurghada when my boyfriends case did not arrive. A report was duly written by the airport and we were duly sent on our way. I can't believe that not one person on the coach even offered my boyfriend a t shirt as they were all aware he had nothing with him due to aforementioned missing case - well done Brits!! The case eventually surfaced 5 days later having never even left Gatwick.
We had never stayed AI before and wouldn't again, just a bit too school-canteeny for us and how much food can some people put away? Obscene! The hotel was massive, I think we got the short straw with our room which was clean but a little shabby, but reasonably comfortable. 5 Star? I would say not, but I believe that is normal for the middle east, so I wouldn't even consider less than a 4 star next time we go.
The staff were very friendly, their English was very good which was handy as my Arabic is not too hot! No problem getting a sun bed and towels and parasols free. Rather stupidly as going to Egypt, I took Egyptian pounds - silly me! They are far more interested in American dollars, Euros or sterling, so don't bother with taking Egyptian pounds. Food was not quite what I was expecting, the quality of the meat very poor. If you are adventurous then there is certainly lots of choice and you won't go hungry. I prefer plain food and of a good quality which was a little harder, however, I am particularly fussy and I didn't starve. Breakfast was easily my favourite meal of the day!
All in all we probably would go back to Egypt as the people were so friendly and a joy to be around. Makadi Bay? Probably not, only hotels there and no choice to go for a really good wander of an evening, the animation team were so poor! They seemed to be having a good time though. We prefer to go out to a different restaurant each evening and so would not choose AI again even though if you are a greedy so and so it offers excellent value! So all in all not a terrible holiday, but we've had better.
If you are going you will have a lovely time, if you are deciding, then consider if AI is your thing? The Egyptian people however are so wonderful and you will have excellent weather and if you do get burnt by the sun, do go the health club for an after sun treatment - wonderful!!

I had a fantastic time at Le Meridien in Makadi Bay. Ideal if you want to relax and get away from it all and be on a private complex with own beach.
Large hotel - best if you are looking for anonymity. Beautiful setting with huge pool and right on the sea. You do get a little bothered by sellers but just get good at saying no. Food was just ok but masses of choice and different things each meal. Good trips from hotel - recommend Luxor day trip, snorkeling boat and quad biking.
Temp was between 32 and 35 degrees all week - definitely hot enough.

As you can see from the date, I was at the hotel last week - unfortunately for me. I am 32 years old and am so easily pleased but my goodness this was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. If I book a 2 or 3* hotel, I know what I'm getting. I didn't expect to pay and book for a 5* treat for me and my boyfriend for his birthday and expect to get 2/3* standard.
Yes, the hotel is big and impressive to look at but that is no good when you can only eat in a canteen where the food was awful, the heated pool had no heating, the air-con didn't work properly, cocktails - ice-cream - lunchtime snacks were all at an extra cost, you had to wait 30 minutes to be served a drink. The bar (shack) on the beach served free drinks but in tiny disposal plastic cups.
I did read the other reviews (below) before I booked and thought 10 out of 11 good reviews was excellent. I just thought the 1 person who left a negative review must have been a bit fussy or something. I really, really wish I had taken more notice of the poor review. I started paying for drinks in the hotel next door which was really nice (Makadi Marine) and chatted with a few couples staying there. They were having a fantastic time with friendly staff and good food. I couldn't believe that it cost £200 less per person to stop in the 4* next door and everyone thought it was fab. I feel really robbed.
I had saved up for this holiday and booked 5* AI as a birthday treat for my boyfriend and am gutted. Makadi Bay is a lovely part of Hurghada but please, please don't waste your money and have an awful time like me and many other Brit couples. I could go on and on but am too disappointed and upset with the whole experience.
I did promise myself that I would leave feedback so that someone else's holiday isn't spoilt. You still have time to change your accommodation. I can recommend the Makadi Marine, Grand Makadi and the Hilton if you are looking for 4 or 5*. Happy holidays.

Hi went to Egypt it was a nice holiday, but I feel the travel operators should state in their brochures about the people who visit certain areas.
My holiday was spoilt due to having loads of Russians, Germans and French who were all very rude, and the staff at the resort just did not care about the English guest. Overall there was around 25 to 30 English people in this resort and was a general feeling of neglect from staff and the holiday rep at this resort.
So if you are English beware of going to le meridien at Hurghada, Makadi bay, Egypt!!!!!!!! Oh by the way weather was excellent on the plus side of my holiday!

Initially very worried about comments on this site and others, but in general - they were harsh, and cannot be taken as a correct interpretation of this hotel.
This is a basic but lengthy description (so go get a cup of coffee before you start).
The flight (my travel) fast, comfortable (last minute extra leg room seats worth evry bit of the #15 we paid). The arrival at Hurghada airport problem free - guided in to airport by a Mytravel rep, visas first (get them at airport - only #10 compared to #15 at home) quick easy, then through a check point, into baggage, out again, to be met by another Mytravel rep, onto bus and away.
First impressions of Hurghada and trip down to Makadi Bay is that the place looks like a building site - lots of sand (naturally), but endless buildings being built.
Through various checkpoints on the road (simply waved through - saw an open top van full of small camels on way - very cute, although not sure where they were headed for.
Le Meridien Makadi Bay - Big Big hotel. Massive sprawling entrance with tiny reception desk where you will queue five deep to get your keys (and anything else you need unless its in the middle of the night). Lots of staff - but only a couple of them seem to do anything.
A bell boy (man) will keep your luggage safe outside til you get your room, and then he will take you to your room, show you round it, try and chat you up (if you are female - and possibly if you have a pulse I would imagine) and happily take his 1$ tip after asking you for a photograph for later (???) - all this with my husband inches from my side. - This was to prove the norm throughout the holiday - clearly for every woman in the hotel, not just me I hasten to add.
When this happens, take it with a pinch of salt, laugh with them - don't get rude or angry - they are charming people, friendly and only having a laugh - they certainly aren’t as pushy or lewd as other nations I have come into contact with on holiday.
The rooms are clean - exactly what they look like in the brochure on or the web site (you didn't check? - shame on you). Two big twin beds which you can shove together, plenty of space, extra blankets, pillows etc., in the very big wardrobe (with hangers) and the balcony is a good size with very good balcony furniture. The bathroom was ok with very hot shower (which actually showered, and didn't just dribble as some showers in hotels do). There is a fridge in your room but it is not a mini bar - there is no alcohol in there but its great to keep your water in. There is also a hairdryer in the rooms but this is a very soft blowing one, not a strong one, so if you style your hair with a dryer - then bring your own.
We tipped our cleaner every day with a single dollar note (and a little note saying thank you) and our room was sparkling everyday with fresh towels and very possibly sheets.
The hotel itself is a bit sprawling although all the main action seems to take place in the main hotel area.
The main restaurant (Aladdin) leads from the reception area on the ground floor and has a big food station in the middle with additional ones to the side (these are the ones where fresh pasta or omelettes and juices are made), and then an outside pagoda area again with seating and a smaller food station in the middle of this too. The pagoda sits in the middle of the swimming pool but you get to it through the restaurant at main meal times.
Two other restaurants - The Saghara and the Prince Karim are on the next floor (up the sweeping staircase in reception). They are both used sometimes for breakfast and evening meal as part of the all inclusive, but this is not the norm, so don't expect it - it seems to change daily they will advise you in the Aladdin. Usually they are paid for restaurants.
Outside there is a seafood restaurant again by the pool, and an Italian restaurant near the beach. Neither of these are included in the all inclusive package. However if you want to eat at these - then the drinks are free, and the meals are reduced by 50% in cost so the overall charge is hardly anything.
All inclusive means you can drink in any of the bars free other than the swim up bar one - but as the pool was so cold when we were there, anyone who was daft enough to get to it from the water side were given their drinks free anyway. (and that included us by the way). Also a bar on the beach is not free, but another one is - you will know which is the free bar because it is the busiest (and close to the kids pool and play area).
A brief low down of the restaurants :
Aladdin (all inclusive) both inside and outside. Breakfast is taken here - its a very good breakfast with lots of options. Always fresh omelettes made for you, always fresh juice (1 euro) or free (possibly from a carton). Eggs, potatoes, tomatoes, sausages, different types of toasts, breads, cakes, fruit, cereals, and freshly made pancakes to name just a few items. Fresh coffee or tea brought to you, and if you want it - a bottle of water (always advisable to keep well stocked up on this - water is never served up in a glass - always by the small bottle - and its free).
Lunch and Dinner can also be taken here too both inside and out. Can I suggest that if you like lunch then take it outside the pagoda at the tables to the right? These are fully outside and much quieter than in the actual restaurants themselves.
In the entrance area to the pagoda from the restaurant, there is always a bbq - sometimes good cuts of meat, sometimes kebabs - but always smelling good. You can eat from this no matter where you sit. Opposite the bbq there is also a village bread station (built to look like a local hut) where a lady sits on the floor and bakes local flat breads in a clay oven. These are amazingly gorgeous when hot - so keep an eye out for a new batch.
The food is good, sometimes a bit samey but still a little different. Not always piping hot, but the chefs are there to help you if you don't know what something is, and will explain how something is cooked if you still aren’t sure. We saw stir fries, roast lamb, sides of meat etc., and if you are vegetarian there is always something for you. I am a vegi, and I never went without (they prepare and cook their vegetables wonderfully. Salads, rices, breads, pastas etc.
And finally cake. Endless - all damn good. If there is two of you get a couple (or three) pieces of different ones and try them all (they have a different choice every day more or less.
Prince Karim : I heard some good reports about this restaurant before I went but to be honest I was quite disappointed - although much much quieter than the Aladdin - the food was more or less the same and you will pay about 7 euros for it. Really not worth doing. The boards say cooked in front of you - but actually its still buffet style with just more chef stations than help yourself.
Saghara - Only went in here one evening because the Aladdin was so full so can't really comment on this as a restaurant in its own right - when it is part of all inclusive the food offer is exactly the same as downstairs.
Fish Restaurant and Italian : Not all inclusive but at the same time away from all the other guests so therefore a lot quieter - nice if there is just the two of you and you want to get away from other people. The Italian was good food and a main course cooked fresh (with waiter service) and pudding plus cake and wine (free) came to five euros each - so again not a big price to pay for a little bit of quiet eating.
The Bars : The main bar in the reception area is free, but waiter service is quicker than standing at the bar. However, this is in the main area and lacks any atmosphere - mainly used for people leaving and whiling their time away. There is 'entertainment' but its a bloke on an organ - so if you like a little 'ballroom type dancing' then that’s fine - but that’s it.
The bar on the floor above the reception is the sunset bar. Again this lacks atmosphere - is very open and close to various facilities such as play stations, pool tables etc., - so ideal if you have kids with you. The staff at this bar are very surly. Only the waiter is friendly here, but he is so run off his feet because the guys behind the bar don't want to serve anyone its difficult to get his attention, and then to get some drinks - a little friendly smile and a couple of dollars will ensure that he remembers you next time. Again this is free
Dockers Bar is outside by the pool - it has an inside and an outside - inside is dark loud and has some form of entertainment in the form of dancing girls, karaoke etc., rather like a working mans club. Outside is nice, feels more like a holiday environment and you can sit on cushions, smoke sheeshas (1 euro), have your drinks brought to you, and ignore the pounding Euro beat in the Dockers bar. Again this is free. The staff here are very friendly indeed.
The swim up pool bar is part of the seafood restaurant at one side and the end result of a freezing cold swim at the other. Very nice and friendly bar staff but still damn cold to get to. (the sea is far warmer).
The all inclusive beach bar is nice and comfortable with comfy type wicker chairs, tables, a grill (paid for food) and waiter service - again nice and friendly.
We didn't go to the pay bar on the beach - didn't seem to be any point really.
The Beach :
Firstly and most importantly, the snorkelling is pretty poor off the beach so don't expect anything like tropical fish swimming round your ankles. There is tiny bits of very dead coral (or dying) with a few fish but nothing special. To get good snorkelling it is important to go on a trip - and these are worth their weight in gold - amazing.
The sand is rough - almost like builders sand until you get nearer the sea and then it is the soft sand you expect.
If you like to sunbathe on the beach - then you are going to have to get up very early in the morning to put your towels on the endless sunbeds which crowd the beach in front of the hotel. If you think you are going to wander down there at 9am and find something - forget it. This hotel is majority Russian /German guests - the English are a very small smattering - and as such, you need to be up very early to beat the towel huggers. However, the upside of this is that the areas around the very large and gorgeous pool is quiet - and there is always a bed to collapse on.
Bring your earplugs if you are after a bit of peace and quiet as the entertainment team get started about 10:30 ish with extremely loud music - accompanied with beach aerobics, sea aerobics, volley ball, belly dancing, afternoon aerobics etc., It stops for about a couple of hours mid afternoon then starts again about 4 ish for a little.
There are lots of sun shades everywhere which is a great thing as the sun is very hot (when its out) - and free beach towels which are handed out everyday in place of a towel ticket which you give them. There are two beach towel huts one by the sea and one by the right hand side pool.
Shopping : There is a small arcade within the hotel with everything you could need but naturally this is quite expensive, however if you wander out of the hotel, and along the beach to the right for about 10 minutes following the signs, you will come to the Makadi Bay Shopping Centre. Plenty of shops and restaurants there for you to look at but to be honest the stuff isn't much different to the stuff in the hotel. There is a supermarket there though.
Balcony : Bring your own drinks with you if you like a tipple on the private balcony of your room. We were told off for sneaking up a couple of drinks one evening - absolutely no drinks are allowed up there unless you buy them from their in room bar menu (which is overpriced) - and there is no coffee and tea making facility either - so despite the balcony being really nice - you can't enjoy it in that end of day with a drink relaxing way that we all do.
Trips :
There are so many trips to do from here. A must is definitely snorkelling - opt for the half day (20 pounds ish. This is an 8.30 start and back at the hotel for about 4.30 - and it takes you to two off shore snorkelling sites and one island and includes a really good buffet lunch. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly and fun and will snorkel out with you to show you things. Remember to take a camera and take it out with you on the first snorkel - I swear you won't see anything as good as the first time you go in the sea, and you'll regret not taking pictures. The corals are beautiful and the fish are teaming and stunning.
You can also do a trip to Luxor from here and a trip to Cairo. We flew to Cairo on a day trip which was an early morning (3.30am) til 9pm day and cost 190 pounds but was worth it to see the Pyramids and the Sphinx and the Cairo Museum. The trip also includes a bazaar and a papyrus museum/shop.
Finally - this is a very busy hotel - it has a lot of guests in it at any one time and also seems to be the resort of choice for families - so if you are looking for a romantic get away for just the two of you - forget it. If you are looking for somewhere lively, with other children and lots of people - then its for you - the five and a half hour flight goes quickly.
And finally, don't worry about tipping - we did and it wasn't worth the worry. Tip for what you receive not the other way around. Tip the people who do things for you (and who you think will be able to do things for you in the future i.e. the waiters ont he first night) and tip the people who are kind, courteous and friendly at the end of your stay.
Only take single notes - be it dollars, euros or Egyptian currency. No coins if you can help it - they aren’t much use to them as the banks won't change them into notes. We took dollars (even though we are English) which meant that we were tipping roughly 60p when we did it, which is worth about 4 Egyptian pounds (give or take) and that’s a lot of money to them. Be fair.
And finally - your last day. This is when your all inclusive comes to an end and your little white wrist band is snipped off. Check out is at 12 noon. If you want to keep your room for the afternoon it is an extra 30 euros for the room. If you want to keep all inclusive for the afternoon it is 15 euros each! This isn't really worth it. Most flights from the Uk are picked up about 4 ish - so the best thing to do is to check out about 1 ish (the queues at 12 have to be seen to be believed), go and have lunch (lunch is still free even though you have given your wrist band in) - and this is the good bit - if you have been nice to your outside waiter during your holiday, he will offer you free alcohol even though he is not supposed to as alcohol stopped with your wrist band disappearing. However, we enjoyed a lovely pool side lunch, a beer, a couple of wines, and a bottle of water for the flight (all for being nice, tipping a dollar every so often). By the time you've finished all that - you only have a little time left to say good bye to your new friends and then you are away.
All in all - a good value hotel for the price. Don't be put off by the reviews one little bit!

Just returned from a 2 week AI holiday. We had a fantastic time at this hotel and was very surprised to read the reviews on this hotel when we come back as we hadn’t read any before we left.
The weather is fantastic in Egypt, very hot everyday but there was a breeze and not 1 cloud in the sky!!
The hotel is clean and the rooms are spacious and kept clean. The pool is very big so never feels crowded. As it is so big there is plenty of room around it but we did put our towels out early!
The food is ok with lots of different food available. breakfast you can have fried eggs, omelettes, toast, croissants etc. Lunch and dinner have a variety with a pasta chef and grill/bbq aswell as children’s section with chips etc.
There is other restaurants available but you have to pay for these 1 we did visit was the price karim which is worth the 10 euros each.
The entertainment during the day was good with the animation team trying to get everyone involved. Marco has the loudest clap you have heard! We didn’t go to entertainment in the evening but that was held in the “docker bar” The “sunset bar” is a great quiet bar to have a drink in at night Saber and Mohammed are great and will keep you entertained. We didn’t even have to order our drinks they were just topped up!
There is shops in the hotel and you can take a walk to Makadi centre where there are more shops, remember to barter though and don’t take the first price they give you.
There are people coming around the pool and beach during the day to sell you trip, gifts, dinners etc. A polite no and they will leave you alone. Do have a look at what they are offering and try to book at least 1 trip- the snorkelling trip is a good day out.
The people are friendly and if your friendly back you will be some great people. Robin in the hairdressers was great and we used to have tea with him every night after dinner. Just a note the tea is not tea you have in England!
There are things that are not covered in your all inclusive- ice creams, fruit juice, some restaurants, disco, pool, table tennis. Also to make you aware all inclusive finishes at 12 when you check out.
All in all had a fantastic time it was so good we are going back in October!!

Ok so this hotel is not 5 star, but for the money you are going to pay it certainly gives value. I have read reviews that slate certain aspects, but as to maggots outside a room that backs on to the kitchen - utter rubbish! There are no rooms that back onto the kitchen, only staff quarters and a road!
The staff in general are pleasant and obliging. Yes there is a lot of people from Russia and Germany, but how is this going to spoil your holiday? There were plenty of Brits who came closer to spoiling mine! Just take everything with an lighthearted attitude, nothing in this country is as it seems! The food is repetitive, you will get 'The sickness', get your tablets and live through it.
The staff will try and sell you things, they are only trying to earn themselves a bit of extra cash. For 4 weeks work they on average take home £300! So come on most of you haven't paid that for a weeks stay, (if you have you 'aint looking at the right websites!).
Bad bits: 1. No pharmacy on site, 15 mins walk through a maze to get there. 2. Do not be tempted to go into town, unless you have the hide of an elephant and like to be insulted. 3. In the 'pay' restaurants they will change completely the same meal that you enjoyed so much on your last visit.
Advice: At the airport, do what the Russians do, buy two or three bottles of spirit (£8 a litre for Smirnoff Blue). Good spirit at the bars area are expensive, have a couple in your room before going out.
Try to speak a little Arabic. It will go a long way!
