After deciding to go away for a short break, myself and a friend (both in our 20's)had a quick look on teletext, saw Pineda Palace briefly and thought hey...that looks cool! Decent price for what it was so we went ahead and booked it.....then I read the reviews!!!
I was slightly anxious to say the least. HOWEVER..I agree with all previous review. The rooms were clen and well maintained but the walls were far too thin; we even had someone bang at us when we were wispering...seriously!!
We only ate breakfast on the first morning but wernt overly keen so ate out for the rest of the stay despite paying half board! (TIP: Dont order the carbanara at the italian resturant a few doors down.. ha!). The staff were ok...some myserable (I was frowned upon after asking one to smile) and some not too bad.
All I can say is if your looking for a QUIET break, with the beach a stones throw away your laughing cos there really isnt anything to do...take a book or ten. Also if your middle aged, slightly overweight with a parchant for bumbags and t-shirt with eagles on...and have a few loud children in the wings that are high on coke and chocolate and havnt seen a carrot or sprout for years....knock yourself out!
Plus points...the train station is 2 minutes walk and trains run to Barcalona from 06.20 every half an hour. Return ticktes are only 6Euro, but be warned, the last train back is 20.40 and the journey takes an hour! Reception staff were nice (but the porter ushered me into my room after he spotted me talking in the corridor on the servailance camera talking to our neighbours at 12.30...heaven forbid you should be up after midnight!)
4star...no way! 3 star...at a push!! Would I go again...nope, but lifes about experiences and when alls said and done, we had a laugh and the hotel did not spoil our holiday in the slightest!
Enjoy!!!!

We booked through Teletext Holidays and the hotel was brilliant, food was lovely and so much choice there was something for even the most fussy eater and what made me feel comfortable was that even the staff were eating it too.
Everything appeared to be clean and tidy and the seats in the reception lounge were so comfortable that you wanted to fall asleep on them... lol
I will point out though that the walls of the rooms are very thin and it can be noisy, you know what it is like when someone drags a chair around a tiled floor, the children in the room next door seemed to love playing this game - so glad I took some ear-plugs, sorted.
Staff were very friendly and eager to help if you had a query.
Can't really fault this hotel, we had a great 4 nights stay :-)

i went here for a family holiday, i was meant to be staying at the paradise park hotel but on arrival we was transfered to pineda palace cause the air con wasn't working in the rooms, but overall i loved it here it was good for the price that we payed for it, it's not party central but it is nice for a relaxing break away
the hotel was very very clean the maid's was lovely and helpful, the reception staff cant do enough to help you went, the entertainment in the hotel was very good different act's on every night kid's disco every night flamino dancers, magicians, disco, really good the beach wasn't very nice cause it was shingles not sand so thats was very uncomfortable. there was one grumpy old man on the bar but if you are all inclusive you can only get one drink per card if you was english but if the spanish went up he would give them as many as the wanted. but overall the holidays was good, the meals are very basic there was always somthink to eat but very boring dinners. i would defently go back here it was cheap, clean , and friendly it was a great getaway

I was origonally meant tpbe staying at Llorett de mar, but we were transferred to pineda de mar due to the hotel over booking. i went with 2 friends and we wanted a lively place with a good night life, what we got was the complete opposite!
The hotel was very clean and the rooms were spacous with nice n-suite bathroom to meet all our needs. The daily maid service was top class. The drinks were excellent, however the food left a lot to be desired.
at the time we went all of the spanish OAP's were on their annual free holiday, and i found most of them to very rude! the staff catered for the spanish and most of the staff were rude and arrogant to us scottish and english. Everything has to be pre-booked, including the jacuzzi.
Overall this is a nice hotel, if ur not a fussy eater, you will be fine. I dont think my children would have eaten much from the poor selection of food. There are some nice restraunts near by though. The nightlife was nothing to write home about, there was a place just 1 min away called pineda party, which is a cool atomosphere.
The beach is beautifull, we spent a lot of time sunbathing there, and there are lots of nice shops selling everything you can think of. themarket on friday is so packed with people its quite intimidating, there are pick pockets around, i was constantly aware of my ag and purse lol. A very charming little town though, i would recoment a visit, but dont expect 4 star treatment folks coz u will be very dissapointd!

Well me and my 5 friends, all 25 and 26 years old, have just returned on the 27th September from this hotel. We originally booked to go to Santa Susanna and stay at the Los Pinos hotel but Sun4udirect.com overbooked the hotel and moved us to the Pineda Palace in Pineda de Mar. The hotel itself is quite nice, rooms are a decent size and the maid service is very good with them coming everyday. They have a nice Jacuzzi and sauna which you have to book, like everything else (which I'll get to), but you have the room to yourself and or your party. The outside pool area is ok, we noticed a very odd smell from the pool side though, which wasn't very pleasant and the pool does have a bar however if you are all inclusive you can only have a drink from it, nothing else unless you pay. Our group did go all inclusive and the drinks were pretty good especially the measures of alcohol, you could get two each at any one time and you could have any local produce, of which there was loads of selection including cocktails of the day. Now for the downside of the hotel, the food in the restuarant was ok but nothing more. It was pretty much the same everyday with one or two changes. Everything seemed to have tuna in it, which was quite bizzare. Quite a lot of the hot dishes were actually cold and the meat dishes, we had a couple of chicken dishes that we sampled to find they were completely uncooked. We did all find something to eat out of the selection each day but we were on most occasions less than satisfied. The hotel staff were quite rude and not over friendly but maybe that was because we were English, as the entire hotel was filled with dutch and spanish holiday makers and they made their feelings apparent for us british, most of the time making us feel completely unwanted and it got quite embarressing for us towards the end of the week. We wanted a lively area, so that we could go out to the bars and clubs in the evening once we had made full use of our all inclusive board, however that unfortunately was not how it ended up being. Pineda de Mar is very very very very quiet. There is no bars and no clubs and literally nothing to do. There is other hotels that you can go in but all were about as exciting as ours. The Pineda palace's idea of entertainment, left a lot to be desired, especially when the staff ask you to join in with the entertainment and then do nothing but throw insults and descriminate you because of your nationality in front of the rest of the hotel, which is something else we experienced. The hotel was full of people 60 + and that is no lie. As soon as the time hits midnight, the bar shuts, the lights are off and you are almost ordered up to your room, told be quiet as its bedtime and if you make any noise you are told you will be thrown out. The walls are soo thin, you are then too scared to do anything incase you end up in trouble. As a group of young adults, not wanting to cause trouble but simply have a good time on holiday we found it awful. The beach is lovely and clean and the water is beautiful. Ive never swam in the sea but for the first time ever, I spent quite a while in it. It was crystal clear and warm. The only downside again is that the beach is shingle and very tough on your feet and the current in very strong and after a couple of meters the water is very deep and it can be hard to get back to the shore. I feel I should also mention that the hotel does require you to book EVERYTHING in advance, from using the spa, to going on trips and even pre-booking your snacks the day before, which was also quite amusing seeing as you had to guess whether or not you'd be hungry and at what time it would likely be. I am a mum of 3 and this was my first holiday with friends away from my family but I found Pineda de mar just too quiet and wouldn't even recommend it for a family holiday. I would say it is suitable for the more mature people without kids or even as far to say pensioners only but DEFINATELY DEFINATELY DEFINATELY NOT for anyone wanting to have a bit of fun and even a sniff of a night out.

When I read the reviews for this hotel I was completely dreading going on holiday here. Thankfully the hotel turned out to be of an exceptionally clean place with a nice welcoming atmosphere. The food was delicious with a great variety of dishes and plenty of healthy and colourful food around. If you are looking for a your typical British greasy burger joint or pizza house then this is not for you. There is however burgers etc which are available during the day as snacks for any one who is peckish. I really could not fault any of the meals and honesty could not identify this hotel from the previous reviews I read.
The rooms are stylish and immaculate and cleaned every day by friendly courteous staff. The only problem is that the walls are not really soundproof and you can hear everything from rooms on either side. This did not however retract from our good holiday as we did not spend much time ther except for sleeping of course.
The entertainment was okay. Pretty typical of Spanish hotels . Not brilliant but at least there was an effort made by management to provide entertainment every night.Views from rooftop are fantastic and a beautiful beach is directly across the road. Pool is rather small but okay if its for the kids or just for a quick cool down dip.
I would recommend this hotel for holidaymakers who are looking for a pleasant ,relaxing atmosphere and who appreciate nice food and cleanliness.

My experience in this hotel was totally negative. In order that the people who does not know it, on Friday celebrate a street market in the same street where the hotel is located. (Certainly, it is not possible to park in the street between the Thursday and the Friday) I Say this, because this day is when someone stole the rucksack from my sister inside the hotel. Both management and staff will relinquish of everything, and did not want to show us the tapes...
...
They told us that there were many blind spots that cameras not recorded. We denounce it before to the Police and they told usus that it was not the first time that they had stolen in the hotel.... it embittered us very much our stay.... Buffet is the same always, and the train is just front the hotel (this produce a big noise). In addition the view since the room was... to other flats!.

The Pool Was Good because it was not to deep but the down side was that is was freesing it would have been ok if the weather was boiling but it was not that warm at my visit . The food was ok there was a little viarity each day . i would recomend this hotel and would love to return to the hotel .

really would not recommend this to anyone. the food was mostly cold, often the chicken was bloody and was generally very low quality - nowhere near 4 star. I described it to my family as a cross between a disaster relief centre and a school canteen. We went all inclusive but ate out at lunch and dinner. Would recommend the dutch bar at the far end of the resort towards santa sussana and the Jazz resturant (cant remember its name but it advertises jazz music). the latter resturant would not be out of place in central london (but if you like your pasta well done please let them know as they cook it like the Spanish - very al dente)
the bar and entertainment lounge was not relaxing, plastic chairs lined up like a school assembly. entertainment was pretty rubbish, but typical of average spanish hotel entertainment.
the walls of the rooms were very thin and you could hear everything happening in the other rooms.
Only plus side was the rooms were kept very clean.

We had booked up for our Holiday before reading these reviews and after reading some of them we were rather worried! However on arrival we were impressed by the location of the hotel with some beautiful sea views It is also close to Calella and Lloret de Mar. From the moment we arrived the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a good laugh both with the bar staff and waiters in the restaurant and could not complain either about the service or the quality of the food. The Wine and beer were local products and were both very nice! We always had a good variety of meals wither it be breakfast lunch or dinner! Our rooms were spotless and cleaned every day and had a view of miles of blue sea and golden sand. One thing I would say if you are looking for an 18-30 holiday look elsewhere but if you are looking for a relaxing Holiday this is a first class break. The only let down for me was the entertainment but then its not much worse than other places I have visited! Overall I would recommend this Hotel and would definitely go back!

Myself and my good lady have just returned from a short all inclusive break at the HTOP Pineda Palace, staying 15-18 February 2008.
We travelled with the sister in law and her hubby and despite at the onset having an open mind about this hotel, we all left with the same opinion.
If you want poor bar service, poor food, poor entertainment, a poorly located room and a virtually non existent all inclusive service then this is the place for you.
Room
We had requested a room on a high floor; we were given room 104 on the first floor, a room with a view of a concrete wall, a flat roof and the adjoining unkempt apartment blocks. This was the place where “the sun don’t shine”, and I’ve often wondered where that was.
The room was clean and the maid service was excellent.
This 4 star hotel required €4 per day and a €10 deposit for the use of the in room safe. The room was of a decent size the bathroom having bath, bidet, toilet, sink and a separate enclosed shower. English TV channels comprised CNN, BBC3 and BBC4. A €20 deposit was required for the TV remote control; thankfully the TV could be controlled without the use of the remote.
Meals
Cold, Cold and Cold.
The fried eggs had solid yokes, the beans were so cold they had emulsified and the black pudding reminded us of...well to be frank (or anyone else) male genitalia.
Talking about sausages, they were yes you’ve guessed it, cold and they tasted like....well I wouldn’t have given them to my Cavalier King Charles.
The hotel chef clearly had a liking for the cheapest cuts of meat. In order to get even a couple of mouthfuls of meat off the pork (or was it lamb chops?), several chops had to be loaded onto the plate.
But just in case guests felt they couldn’t get enough meat off these chops they could have a second chance on the next night and the night after that.
The hotel supplied us with details of its all inclusive service, clearly stating that beef burgers, chips etc were available in the main restaurant in the hours when the main meals were not being served. The same details were supplied on the HTOP website. When I queried this with reception, they instructed me to go to the bar for any snacks I might want.
The only snacks available were..... yes, you’ve guessed it again, cold. Sandwiches of dry bread with salami as filler were presented as the hotel’s all inclusive snack service.
Bar Service
Although a machine, mounted on the bar is available to all inclusive guests for coffee, hot chocolate etc a Spanish gentleman felt the need to have the barman individually make up his order of 10 (yes, ten) cups of coffee.
As there was only one bar man serving and he was occupied, we politely waited until the coffees had been dispatched.
Three quarters of the way through the coffee order, another Spanish guest arrived and stood at the bar to the left of us. The bar man glanced at her and I knew what was about to enfold. Yes, you’ve guessed it!
Ten coffees made up and paid for, the bar man completely ignored me and my wife, walked the full length of the bar, past us both and proceeded to serve the newly arrived Spanish guest.
Entertainment
At least 80% of the guests were Spanish pensioners and whilst this ensured a good night’s sleep for us it meant the “entertainment” would be a complete mystery! It turned out that the Spanish guests were expected to make up their entertainment. Talent shows with pensioners asked to volunteer to sing or tell jokes and of course a couple of rounds of bingo.
Hotel Location
The hotel faces the sea front and provides good views for those Spanish guests fortunate enough to have sea view rooms.
To access the beach, guests must first cross the railway line using an underpass. We went for a brief walk on the beach before retiring for the night and surprisingly encountered a local resident venturing towards us in the well lit underpass.
She must have been no more than 5 foot tall, in her late sixties, well dressed, speaking on her mobile phone and completely at ease with her surroundings. This encounter spoke volumes for the local residents. When did I last see a lone pensioner walking the streets of Liverpool at 11.30 pm?
The beach is beautiful and spotlessly clean.
Tips
• Think carefully before booking this hotel
• If you have already booked make use of HTOP’s all inclusive conditions: it is possible to book meals (lunch) at other HTOP hotels, go up the road to HTOP Royal Sun at Santa Susanna and see what an all inclusive programme is really about.
In fact the last tip is the same as the one given to the management at HTOP Pineda Palace!

We were originally meant to be staying in the Paradis Park Hotel (3*) also in Pineda but were informed by a tour rep after arriving at the airport that we had been upgraded to the 4* Pineda Palace. We were annoyed at the apparent last minute change of plan but happy about the upgrade - we were even happier when one day we took a walk to find the Paradis Park Hotel and found it to be very run-down looking.
First impressions of the Pineda Palace were good, on checking in the reception staff were polite and helpful and the room was spacious and comfortable. The view from our room was to the hills behind the hotel, the balcony was large although as the sun never reached our side of the building we had little opportunity to use it. The en-suite bathroom was reasonably large and well-equipped, however it would have better if the shower cubicle was omitted from the room - it made access to the bath taps very awkward and when we did use it leaked water all over the floor - there was another shower over the bath anyway!
In general the hotel facilities were good, we enjoyed hiring the mountain bikes owned by the hotel. There was no charge for this but we had to leave a 50 euro deposit per bike and you could only borrow them for 3 hours - but after 3 hours cycling my buttocks couldn't take much more! The entertainment provided by the hotel was limited but they did their best to appeal to all nationalities.
The most disappointing aspect of the hotel was the food. Breakfast's redeeming features were the freshly made pancakes and fresh fruit, the coffee and tea were sadly lacking something - the water was cold by the time you'd pleaded with the tea bag enough to give it some colour. The evening buffet was very uninspiring - most of the main course dishes seemed to taste of fish, sometimes the fish could be seen sometimes it couldn't. One night we got quite excited as we spotted what we thought was lasagne, closer inspection revealed that it was indeed lasagne - or 'Lasagne Bolognaise' as the label informed us. Imagine our upset when as we sat down to eat it we found that it tasted nothing like lasagne and infact tasted nothing like we had ever tried before. After carrying out a post mortem on it we discovered that the meat was nothing like beef, lamb or even chicken - it was pale pink in colour and didn't appear to be cooked in any kind of sauce. Looking at other tables everyone seemed to be doing the same thing. The desserts were OK, always fresh fruit on offer and some kind of ice cream cake, they even tried their hand at bread-and-butter pudding and spotted dick. There was one night when all the desserts tasted (quite strongly) of pineapple, and another when there must have been alot of breakfast cereals left over from the morning as one jelly pudding was topped with coco pops and another with sugar puffs !
All in all we enjoyed our holiday and did not let the cuisine get us down, we were looking for a cheap last minute holiday and that's what we got.

We booked this as a last minute cheap deal - after reading the reviews we didn't really expect too much - figured you get what you pay for! We were pleasantly surprised though. The hotel and rooms were spotless.
The resort is fairly quiet (or at least it was in October), so if you are after a lively holiday this probably won't do for you. The pool is great on the top of the hotel and the views are amazing. On one afternoon there was a group of lads who were fairly drunk and foul mouthed, but the staff moved them on at the first complaint.
The staff were fine and were as polite/courteous as you were to them. Drinks also fine, whilst we were there though the beer was a lot better at the pool bar (the shorts were all ok downstairs). The food... not too great. If you are after a culinary experience, this is not really the place. We managed the breakfast most mornings, and dinner once - we decided early on to eat out in the evening and enjoy some of the local restaurants.
I guess it depends what you want from a holiday - we booked a cheap deal, had a great time, no complaints and would definitely go again.

Unfortunately we were moved to this hotel from Hotel Sirius, Santa Susana due to error by local agent. Our planned holiday in a proper Spanish 4 star was ruined when we entered this cattle market.
If you like you like the staff to be disdainful, contemptuous and arrogant; if you want the food to be cold, unappetizing and have the ability to give you food poisoning; if you would rather eat out than eat in; if you want to be surrounded by ignorant people whose joy in life is to consume free alcohol & talk as much puerile rubbish they can all day; if you want to be surrounded by unsupervised children running amok; if you want to lie beside a pool where the area & seats are badly cleaned - then this is THE HOTEL to go to.
I pity anyone who has booked this Hotel, if it is a 4 Star then I'm the next President of the World. Shame really, as Pineda itself is a lovely area but I'll not be back to the area or an H-Top Hotel again.
