" Great holiday but read on "

This was the second time i went to the taurus park i went in 2008 and and 2009 my mother also went in the 1970s sometime. This destination is great and has great facilities for children. The food is okay but sometimes it would say fish and not what type of fish it was but the food is gorgeous. The cleaners are extremely friendly and helpful. The beach is literally across the road from the hotel but there is a road which run between but not to busy then a train line but a subway going underneath it which is also really clean and is cleaned regularly. There are a few minor problems but it hasnt really affected my holidays - there is the usual sun lounger problem but we figured if you go out at 6.45 in the morning lay on your sun bed until 7.01 because the security guard will take them and put them in reception the other problem is if you buy a drink in the bar near the restaurant and you go to take it in the restaurant you wont be allowed as we noticed that the drinks are infact more dearer than they are in the bar of which in my opinion they shouldnt be as they are on the same premises and same supplier, apart from thos minor details i really do recommend this holiday we are even planning on going back in 2010.

Advice: Look in to this hotel it is worth the money and more

Activities: The Buccaneer down the road owned by people from Newcastle

" buccaneer "

Right where do I start - Hotel was very clean and huge - can't fault it in that respect.Great for family's with young kids, but as I'm 24 I didn't participate in any activities. The main pool area can get quite annoying with all the family activities, and thomson reps being loud, but there is plenty of other pools on the complex that are a lot quieter. The food in the buffet was ok, plenty of choice, but you need to time it right to get hot food, the salad had some sort of dressing always on it-so if you do not like dressing, you wont like the salad. The little coloured guy that does the show cooking is wicked, and the pancakes he makes in the morning are very delicious. You have to pay for your drinks at lunch and dinner, not free like it stated when booking, so beware. The local beer on draught is something starting with C and is horrible, and I usually drink anything. There is plenty of heniken and fosters in bottle but cost the same as a pint, so we never drank at the hotel after the 1st night - make sure you see them making your cocktails, as they tend to forget to put the spirits in it!!
The location was great the beach is just across the road, and always a better breeze there if you don't like it too hot. There is a small supermarket just outside the hotel and very good value-so avoid the one in the hotel!! You have Pepe's bar literally round the corner of main enterance which is fine, great spanish live music there on Friday's, but the best place to go in walking distance is the Buccaneer and La Taverna(The tavern) which are owned by the same people. Go through the snack bar exit in the hotel and turn left - less than 5 min walk. The food is great, it's english beer on tap - cheap enough and a decent pint, their cocktail jugs also are good - and they defo put spirits in them!!The staff are a good laugh too, the buccanner closes after 12 but you can take your drink to the tavern and that closes bout half 1. Football can be watched there along with soaps and x factor.
I strongly suggest you pay the 90 euros at reception to go watch FC Barcelona play if there is a match available, probably the best experience I've ever had.90euros for seat tickets that are at the back, but it's well worth it, you can pay more for better seats, but the atmoshpere is just the same. You can get tickets cheaper online before you go, but there are no trains for you to come back on,and taxi's are very expensive from Barcelona.
For 5 euro something you can get a train to Lloret de mar, which is the opposite dircetion to Barcelona, you get a train to Blanes, and a coach will wait for you to take you to Lloret, loads of pubs and shops better than Calella(which is about 15 mins from the hotel)and cheaper. Visit the Rob Roy pub in Lloret - good laugh, just down and turn left from the Express Mcdonalds.Be carefull with the trains going back as they stop after nine, but a taxi is only 40 euros if you want to spend a longer evening there.
There is a market in Santa Sussana on a Tuesdya, and one down the road form hotel on a Friday I think - very shit and expensive, you can buy most things for half price in Lloret or even Callela.
You defo need to change all your cash before going there as their rates are very poor!!
On the whole the holiday was great, couldn't really fault it apart from the bar in the hotel, would have cried If it was all inclusive!!

" Fantastic "

Went there with my partner and 3 children for 7 nights. I have been going to Spain for 20 years and this is by far the best hotel i have stayed at, lovely clean hotel, fantastic pools and great entertainment to keep the children busy. The town of Pineda is very quiet which i enjoyed as even though i am in my 20's i don't like seeing people rolling around drunk in the evenings so this made a refreshing change. Calella is close by for a day of shopping only 5 mins on the land train (which the kids loved. Beautiful beach though as there is a shelf that drops in the sea be careful with young children. Food at the hotel was lovely and there's plenty of choices for all but if you do off site to eat there are some lovely restaurants close by. There's a nice British run bar 5 mins walk away from the hotel called the Buccaneer so if your missing your beers from home or the kids want a fruit shoot, and to watch football etc it's a great place to spend an evening.
I'd definately go back there!!

Advice: If you're looking for a peaceful holiday this is where to go

Activities: The beach at night

" Boring "

Good hotel, very clean and good food to suit all tastes. The brochure said that the resort is quiet, the trouble is they didn't say how quiet. The resort of Pineda is an absolute ghost town. Everything you need is in the hotel and thats it, there's nothing more outside.

Advice: Good hotel, nothing more.

Activities: There aren't any.

" lovely clean hotel "

Just returned from holiday. The hotel is really nice very big with a great choice of pools. The rooms are very clean. Food was good. The entertainment both day and night was very good with very friendly reps and animation team. The complex is a mix of nationalities not just brits. The beach was disapointing although it looks lovely it is shingle and the sea is quite dangerous with a huge drop after walking 2 metres out.
The resort of pineda is very dated and some areas are quite scruffy Callella has more going on but still very dated.
A lot of camp sites around and close to the hotel.
Barcelona is well worth going to on the train and have a open top bus tour to see as much as possible. Be careful in La rambles as it is rife with pickpockets we actually caught one in the act.
All in all a good value for money holiday butI think the hotel would be far better if it was an all inclusive.

Advice: a very dated resort with a lot of graffiti and empty buildings

Activities: Barcelona is definately worth a visit only 1 hour on the train.

" Fantastic! "

Stayed at the Golden Taurus with partner and child and friends for 10 nights. Cannot fault the hotel, superbly clean, good food, excellent entertainment and great value (booked through Portland Direct). Our rooms were great, just the right size, good balconies, air-conditioned and very clean. The kids club was brilliant, good choice of activities and perfect times ( 1pm - 3pm for 6-8 year olds) which is great to get them out of the sun. The prices in the bars and snack bar were really reasonable too, approx 2,40 euros for a pint of lager, 5 euros for a pizza. All of the staff (reception, cleaners, bar and restaurant) couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. The only change we would have made is to have a fridge available in the room (and available sun loungers after 7am!)
As for the area, it isn't great, but there is plenty to do in the time you're there, 2 waterparks, Barcelona, zoo, etc, etc.
We will return, but maybe in a couple of years to give the area time to develop a bit (quite a bit of building work going on, so looks like it could be an up and coming area).
Overall, this was our best holiday yet, we loved it!

Advice: Good market

Activities: Barcelona zoo, Waterworld

" Best Hotel in Spain "

I first visited the Golden Taurus Park Hotel 31 years ago, it was great then and is even better now. I missed a few years by going to different places in Spain, but have always came back to the Taurus. The service is excelent, the food great and plenty of it, the entertainment is brilliant, and the staff are so cheerful and helpful. There is always plenty to do around the hotel for children and adults, and Pineda and Calella are great to visit, the one restaurant we always go to is just across from the main gate, where they serve excelent food to the locals and holiday makers, and once or twice a week they have a live band and singer performing there, usually they are South American. Anyway I am going back this September (cant wait)

Advice: It is a lovely small town with some lovelyshops and hotels.

Activities: Real Spanish Restaurants, and visiting Barcelona.

" golden Taurus "

We recently returned for a fabulous 2 weeks hotel at the Golden Taurus close to the beach, lovely hotel and staff any problems and hotel staff and reps were on hand. Entertainment was definately 10/10 absolutely super that is the thomson and spanish entertainment! Kids clubs great made children very welcome.
The down side to the holiday were Drinks in the hotel are too expensive and the quality of food in the buffet resturant was very poor especially at evening meal. also the hygiene and manners ( very rude) of the chefs.

" Brilliant Family Holiday! "

This is mine and my partners third visit to the hotel in the last 9 years, twice as just a couple and this recent time we took our three year old son.
What a brilliant holiday - we really couldnt have asked for more.
The Thompsons reps and the hotels own entertainment team ensured that there was plenty to do for both young children and adults.
The food was superb, dining room, snack bar & bar staff were all very friendly & polite.
The rooms were cleaned everyday to a good standard. Pool areas were also kept very clean.
Thompsons reps were very helpful when booking excursions and giving general information.
The tots club was very good as were the reps who ran it.
The reps taking you to the hotel after the flight and back to the airport at the end were very polite, friedly and efficient.
The resort of Pineda is a great place for families with a nice atmosphere in its bars in the evening and with a weekly market during the day, Calella is great for Shopping too!
We will definatley be going back again!!
I would definatley recomend this to families with young children.

Advice: Try the Tandemm Cafe, good atmosphere, they make you very welcome and quite cheap.

Activities: Visiting the beautiful city of Barcelona, an hour away from Pineda on the train.

" IMPORTANT INFO FOR ALL PARENTS "

Me and my family have just returned from the golden taurus park hotel from a weeks holiday (June 2009). We have 3 children two boys aged 9 and 6 and a baby girl aged 16 months. After a good start to our holiday me and my family enjoyed the entertainment of a night whilst we felt safe to let our 2 boys to play on the computers/games ajacent to us in the lobby area where we could see them intill midway through the week a 15 year old boy locked my youngest son in a toilet cubical with him and scared the life out of him by refusing him to leave. This was 1 miniute after i had just checked on him,he came to me frightened crying and in shock, i went straight to the hotel reception where the hotel manager was more intrested in booking guests in to bother with us,the manager was rude and disrepctful to me and my family and simply not interested in what had just happened.
As thomsons are renound for family holidays i thought they would sort the situation out but to my horror the reps based at the hotel just did not want to help either, my childrens holiday was ruined as they wanted to come straight home and were scared of seeing this boy again. This is not a ploy to bad name the hotel but advise to all parents who are thinking of going for a holiday here with there children this hotel has no respect for its guests and do not consider the safety of the children staying there. We will never visit the hotel again as we consider it a unsafe place to take children

" fantastic "

Hi, we went to this hotel on a recommendation from a friend , but still didnt know what to expect , but when we arrived it was absolutely brilliant even though the weather wasnt too good we enjoyed the 2 weeks we had there and the kids thought it was fantastic too , there was plenty to do and the staff were great and very helpful , the entertainment crew both spanish and british were really lovely and made you feel at ease when you took your kids to the clubs they run . The food was enjoyable and the catering staff were happy to help when we pointed out my husband had an allergy they were happy to accommodate and made him something special.
We are hoping to go again soon , knowing we are in for a great time and the place is very family orientated .

Advice: Fantastic, friendly enjoyable place with great entertainment .

Activities: we travelled all around the island and loved it all

" Just returned from 1 week here and... "

Just returned from 1 week here and can't praise it enough. I am a single mum of 2 boys (15 and 11) and this is the first time I have been abroad with them on my own, so was a little wary. The staff soon put me at my ease as nothing was too much trouble and the Entertainment team were fantastic with the kids (Thanks Luciano and Andy, you made the holiday for Cory!) This is an excellent family hotel with everything that the kids could wish for. Food was ok, very varied and plenty of it. Maid and cleaning service was very good, everywhere was spotlessly clean and towels changed regularly.
Medieval Night is not to be missed and although a little pricey,is worth every penny and is great for all ages.
The only downside is the beach but with 5 pools at the hotel we never really missed it, Oh and the other downside is I only got to step out of the hotel once, to go to the medieval night, as we had met some lovely families and the kids wanted to stay in the hotel as there was so much for them to do.
I am already pricing up to go next year and would't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone with kids.
