Submitted By: Mrs K BishopThe resort was fairly quiet, but all bars and restaurants were opening day and night. Weather was fantastic, accommodation not 4T but clean and adequate.
The Plaza complex itself was lovely, with great pools. Thomson reps were first class, especially shaz in the kid’s shows!
Overall ,a great place to go for a relaxing holiday for families with children.
My top tips would be to hire a car to see more of the island, and book days out with cosmos in the village for better value.
Highlight of the holiday was the friendliness of the locals! Have a great holiday!

Submitted By: Mrs Anne CooperWe are coming back this year and I can’t wait. I have recommended this holiday to my friends and showed them pictures and videos.
My young sister loved it there in the crèche and the play areas. Every one there is nice. The pool was just great nice and big. It was suitable for all ages.
The food was good and was just lovely and good for money. I can't wait to go back there this year!

Submitted By: Mrs C DaviesWe did have to report the air-con was leaking water onto the TV and plug sockets below. We don't think that this was ever corrected as after 3 days we dried it off and never used it again. Although the weather was hot the air-con was not needed at night again so we didn't care. I don't think that the receptionist knew how to smile. The pool was good, clean and plenty of sun beds. The cafe/bar that was next to the pool was rather expensive and we only used it once for food. It also shut fairly early and didn't open again until morning which meant there was no outside bar at night, which was a shame.
The entertainment for the kids was really good but for myself and my husband whose kids have now flown the coot we were disappointed that there was hardly any entertainment for the adults.
Due to the fact that it was the end of the season the little town was spookily quiet with only a handful of bars, shops and restaurants open but Stamatis was a very enjoyable and relaxing place to go. The food was good and the staff were very nice. We did go there most nights as they did a good pint of Guinness for my husband.
The beach was very quiet which we liked. It could do with a bit of a tidy up but the sand was nice and the sea clean.
We did have need to use the Doctors as my husbands eardrum cracked during the flight (very painful). This Doctor was wonderful. The service we got for 40 euros was excellent. He even gave me something for my mozzy bites.
We went on 2 day trips. The 1st to Albania. This was a worth while visit and really interesting although this was where we got eaten by mozzies. If you go take lots of spray with you. The 2nd was Theo's boat trip. This is a must for everyone. The man is a nutter and certainly makes the trip good fun. Be warned, don't wear your good clothes as you may get drenched with water and shaving foam. The BBQ was very nice but apart from the drinks with your meal you have to buy them and these were a bit on the expensive side. You also have to pay 6 euros for the sun beds.
We would not be going back to the Corfu Plaza only because it was too bigger place for us. We like smaller places. We are off to Zante again next year and the place we stay only has 16 apartments. The Corfu Plaza is excellent if you have children and I would recommend it to anyone who has them. St Georgies South is very nice and I would recommend this too.
This was the 1st time we had ever gone allocation on arrival and if this is the type of accommodation that Thompson put you up I would certainly do it again with them. Thank you Thompson.

" Our first proper holiday since having... "
Submitted By: Mrs A BrooksOur 2 didn't want to leave the pool long enough to use the kids clubs but the range of activities available was mind-blowing! Hotel was good, the air-con a blessing in the 40 degree heat, a few more tables around the pool for an evening would save us from sitting on the sun beds!
Reps helpful and knew their stuff, Theo's boat trip they sell was the most fun we'd had in ages. St. George itself was just right for us, we'd especially recommend The Balcony restaurant and the staff at Stamatis bar for their tolerance of the children’s pool playing! I needed to visit the Dr. for treatment for mozzy bites and the friendliness and professionalism of the staff was first class.
No hesitation in recommending this hotel and resort to friends.

" We had a fantastic holiday here, and... "
Submitted By: Mrs J StrongThis was our first experience of a Thomson Superfamily Holiday although we have been on a similar type of holiday before with another company - there was no comparison - the entertainment and commitment of the staff to making our holiday a fantastic experience far exceeded our expectations.
We have two children - 8 and 6, and they had a brilliant time - the Kid Zone staff and entertainment staff (Roly Poly Schmollie and Juicy Lucy) really made their holiday - and ours. They made lots of friends around the lovely, very well managed swimming pools and at Kids Club. We discovered the Drop-in Zone relatively late during the holiday - games and videos are provided and the sessions are supervised by Kid Zone staff, but it is quieter than the Team sessions and there is no organised activity - our children enjoyed this as much as the Team Kids Club.
The accommodation is quite basic but very spacious - you might want to consider taking additional kitchen equipment with you if you want to use more than a knife and chopping board to prepare your food! All rooms come with free air conditioning facilities (we had to pay £60 for this on our last Greek holiday). It is best to speak to the Reps if you have any problems, rather than Reception, as they follow-up and make sure that any problems are sorted out quickly. The reps were brilliant too - very knowledgeable and no hard-sell.
The resort is easily accessible and quite close, and the food in the resort is lovely - we did not have a bad meal out during the whole holiday. We enjoyed going to San Carlos, as the children could go and play on the beach and the staff were very tolerant of them returning wet and sandy to eat their food. Although they do not publicise it they will also provide for the children small portions of the adult dishes at children’s meal prices (6 Euro, including drink and ice cream) if you do not want them to eat chicken nuggets and fish fingers with chips for 2 weeks. The views of the sunsets are also unbeatable.
The beach was lovely and clean - the sea bed slopes gently and is therefore very child friendly.
We hired a car for two separate days - one with Thomsons and one from the Hotel Reception. Although Thomsons was more expensive the car and service was much better. But book more than 1 day in advance because they do not seem to have a large number of cars available.
If you are leaving late at night we do not think you need to take up the option of paying an additional 35 Euro to keep your room until 6pm - you can book a room with reception for an hour at no charge so that you and the family can shower and change, and this suited us.
Also, for a returnable deposit of 5 Euro you can hire beach/pool towels which can be exchanged for clean ones once a week - you do not need to take beach towels with you.
We, too, felt that the Bar prices were very high - 2.5 Euro for an ice cream, 4 Euro for a beer and 2 Euro for a small instant coffee - even at the hotel supermarket the beer was 70 cents for a small can and we took them with us to the poolside. The spirits appeared reasonable prices but were very watery!! However, that is the only criticism we have!!

" For a family with children looking... "
Submitted By: Mr I HarperThe Thomson reps (and there are a lot of them here) are fantastic with activities and entertainment on tap all day & evening. The kids were never bored and loved all the entertainment. If the little darlings drive you nuts, clubs and drop in clubs are also on hand to keep the kids busy while you chill by the pool.
The staff at the hotel are so hospitable and they all helped to make our holiday a perfect one. The reception is well run and in particular the pool bar staff are so warm and friendly, they make you feel like old friends come to visit again.
No hi-rise on this seafront! Set against a backdrop of wonderful scenery including mountains and olive groves. The sandy beach is such a beautiful place to relax with shallow, warm, crystal clear water and not too crowded at all. It has an abundance of water sport activities (if you want to get more physical) or you can bask in the glorious sunshine that seems to be a permanent feature of this island, this beach is perfect.
Nikos sea sports directly in front of the palm beach offers all kinds of fun activities and in my experience of water Nikos (the proprietor) takes very seriously the safety of his clients. I have 2 children and for the last 5 years I have been happy to involve them in a lot of the activities. This is so often a concern with youngsters but I am more than satisfied that his experience makes him entirely competent.
The village of St George has no shortage of bars & restaurants offering both English and Greek cuisine and again is so suited to families with it's low key friendly atmosphere. There is also an excellent buffet restaurant on site if you don't fancy the 5 minute walk to town. On the seafront verandas of the restaurants you can enjoy an evening meal whilst watching one of the most glorious sunsets I have ever seen.
We will be back again as we have done before. When something isn't broken, there is no point in fixing it. I know we can enjoy holiday after holiday in this charming corner of Corfu.
Negatives: Don't drink the water, the mineral content is a little high for some (usual for Greece). It's OK to brush your teeth in and Ice, soft drinks & food prep is made with mineral water so salads are OK. Mosquitoes can sometimes be a pest but repellent seems to deal with that.

" Well what a fantastic holiday, the... "
Submitted By: Mr Gareth JonesWe will be taking the grandparents there next year. St Georges which is the local town only a 5-10 min's walk away is small with about a dozen restaurants and a few supermarkets but don't let this put you off. In the 14 days we were there we did not have a bad meal. San Carlos is the best. Approx price for a meal for 2 adults and 2 children with wine and 3 courses is 50 Euro. The holiday reps are very knowledgeable and friendly (Kerry is your main one) they do not push any trips on you. The trips are a bit more expensive than the local cosmos in town but its worth it.
The kidszone is fantastic. Jackie, Ritchie and silly Sam are brilliant with the kids to the extent that the kids want to go to every club that was on. 3 times a week you can book your children into the party club (3 Euro) from 18.30-20.30 this gives you plenty of time for the parents to go and have a meal in town together. Now onto the fantastic 3. The lovely Ginge, juicy Lucy and rolly polly schmollie.
These 3 are the best entertainers that have walked this earth as far as we are concerned. They keep the kids entertained all day with fun and games by the pool from 11.00 to 17.00. Then they come back at 20.15 ready for the kids disco and more. Entertainment in the night is brill although the Greek night is sorry to say rubbish but that is put on by the hotel and has nothing to do with the fantastic 3.
I could not find fault in the way this is run by Thomson's however I must criticise the prices of the bar around the pool and the prices in the bar for the entertainment. It is scandalous 4 Euro for a pint of beer, 3 Euro for a small plate of chips. This I believe encouraged people putting alcohol in their bags at night (we did) or bringing food and drink from their rooms of a day. The bar staff were not very polite and aggressive.
I would recommend everyone to go here but if you have very little ones don't go in July / august its will be to hot. Average temperature for us between the 16th may and 30th may was around 30 degrees, on 1 day it reach 35 degrees. Again I must congratulate mark and the hard work they do there and a special thank you to the fantastic 3 love ya.

We used the sister hotel "palm beach" for buying food for lunch very useful. The restaurants are good and we had a wonderful holiday!

" We had a brilliant two weeks at this... "
Submitted By: Mrs L JollyHighlights - Definitely the kids team. The clubs were excellent, and the mini disco was great for the kids as well (though as someone else mentioned it is a bit hi de hi for the adults!).
The pool - Excellent, clean, plenty of loungers at that time of year.
Accommodation - Clean and spacious. Not deluxe but certainly not bad. Lovely views though and we had lots of privacy because we didn't back out on to anyone.
Car Hire - We would very much recommend hiring a car, but not from Thompson! Go to Cosmos in the village.
The fireflies and frogs!
Lows - The bars (Disco and Pool) were plain extortion. The trips are expensive (go to Cosmos in the town if trips are your thing). Corfu Airport.
Otherwise we'd thoroughly recommend this holiday to other families. It was great value for money.

" Having read the other reviews, I... "
Submitted By: Mr S StephensonWe had the best holiday here since our honeymoon since the children are kept occupied.
The food in the resort is good so we didn't bother with the awful on-site stuff.
We went in the last week of May - First week in June and I can really recommend this time of year. The resort wasn't too busy (until the last couple of days) so there was plenty of space by the pool. If you come this time of year you get the beautiful site of the fire flies flashing luminous green everywhere. This is worth the holiday alone!
The crèche staff were superb and the most friendly I have ever encountered. The hotel reception staff were very grumpy...
Which leads me on to the bad part. On leaving, one of the reception staff came out just as the coach was arriving to take us to the airport. They said that we had smashed several glasses and had to pay for them (which we hadn't). My wife was panicked into paying a small fortune for these missing glasses despite the fact that we hadn't done anything wrong! When I spoke to the Thomson rep about this she wrote down the complaint but we never heard anything back.
I would go back to this resort (I loved it) but this time I would check the inventory on arrival!

Submitted By: Mr Kj WallaceThe local Tavernas and bars compete well to give you a varied selection of local dishes and the odd pizza. A personal favourite of ours was the "San Carlos Restaurant", situated very close to the hotel. Having been coming here for several years now, we decided to try out the Corfu Plaza, after many years going, basic, in the local accommodation.
We even decided to do a little work while we were here and produced a video for the "Nikos Sea Sports" outfit on Issos beach, right outside the sister hotel of Corfu Plaza, the "Palm Beach Hotel".

" Not the best hotel in the world. But... "
Submitted By: Mrs K MothersoleThe location is the main feature. You are pretty much right on the beach. Walk out of the hotel and then there is Issos beach. A very long sandy Blue flag beach. You can easily find a quiet spot to sunbathe. The sea is lovely.
The watersports on offer are excellent in-particular the windsurfing at merman board sports. I learnt to windsurf in the very safe bay, I kept going back, highly recommended.
St George night life is ok, plenty of restaurants and bars.

St. Georges itself has a nice selection or restaurants and the usual gift shops, I would also avoid the on site restaurant if your a couple its massed produced school dinners, Corfu Plaza itself was clean friendly and the maid service excellent, be warned if it rains there is not a lot to do unless you hire a car, check out the trips on the front before you book any they are the same only cheaper, night shopping in Corfu town is excellent with lots of little market shops to explore and if you spend a day on the beach have a viagra sexy doughnut you never know he might dance for you to.
The entertainment of any evening was great fun to for the children and the adults and it was good to know that once everything was finished there was no noise and the kids could just go to bed without being woken up. Didn’t find the apartments to great could have been cleaner. The village itself was OK, not a great selection of restaurants and they didn’t cater for Children very well, overall we had a great time.
