The Thomas Bay is a great friendly hotel. The staff are extremely helpful, hard working and make you feel welcome, which is something that prompted us to return for our 2nd year. The hotel is very relaxed with a great pool and sunbed area, with waiter service throughout... more

We first went to Thomas Bay 15 yrs ago and went there every year for next 10. We have since moved to Spain but went back 2yrs ago which meant flying to Uk first then to Corfu. I think that speaks for itself.

Definately recommended
Me and my mum decided to leave our men at home and have a week away together for a week and we both had an excellent time. The island of Corfu was nothing like we imagined-it was really beautiful and everyone is so polite. There was plenty to do for both of us, I'm 23 years old and my mum is 43. The staff at the Thomas Bay were so friendly - nothing was too much trouble, we throughly enjoyed the food and should you not like anything you could always have something 'off the menu', the hotel was very clean and tidy. They had entertainment on every night although it was only bingo or karaoke, we would have preferred something a bit more entertaining however, the hotel has a great location and is surrounded by bars and restaurants should you want something different. Both mum and me would definately like to go back to the Thomas Bay hotel.
Thomas Bay Hotel, San Stephanos
We stayed at the Thomas Bay Hotel in San Stephanos from the 25th-31 August 2007. We choose this Hotel because of the good reports from Trip Advisor particularly regarding the friendly staff. The hotel was clean and spacious, there was a large pool with lots of sunbeds and space, our room was clean with plenty of room for clothes and a pleasant balcony even though it faced other apartments. The reception staff were friendly and the Thompson rep was very helpful. Unfortunately this pleasant hotel was let down by the food and attitude of the dining room staff. The breakfast was one choice only as I was sharply informed on the first morning when I ordered fruit salad and Yogurt . Someone sitting behind laughed ,obviously having made the same error. The two evening meals we had were poor and the attitude of the staff was abrupt. On the second evening we were looking forward to Lamb Kleftico only to be told "No Lamb" no apology and said in such a manner I thought he was kidding but soon found out this was not the case.We asked if we could change the evening meal to lunch, we were told this was not possible. We did not have any more evening meals there preferring to eat in some lovely restuarants where the staff were pleasant and friendly and the food was amazing, ie The Olive Press and Mistral . The only time the head waiter spoke to us other than to take our order was on the morning of our departure when he asked if we were leaving and wished us a good trip. We really enjoyed San Stephanos and would certainly return but would not stay at the Thomas Bay
Loved the Thomas Bay!
We booked a stay and cruise... our stay was a price breaker. We ended up in the Thomas bay... on arrival to the hotel we were met by the nightly Greek dancing!.... I thought to myself, this is going to be a great holiday from the very start, all due to the atmosphere! Our room was clean and spacious. If you want aircon you have to pay 30 euros for 7 nts. The whole hotel was really clean and the swimming pool was great!!! I was so shocked that you didnt have to put yours towels on the sunbeds to reserve them!!! The only thing I would say is that the meal in the evening did let it down slightly. You almost had rice with every thing!!! but there was a choice of 3 starters and 4 mains every night and the meat was always tender..... The entertainment varied from bingo night, quiz nights, karaoke and on a saturday night you have an hypnotist! The resort itself...San Stefanos is a very small resort but has everything you need from restaurants to shops and bars. The Beach is only a 5 min walk away. If you are going to the Thomas Bay, you will have a fantastic time... I cant wait to go back!
Loved the Thomas Bay
We have just returned from the Thomas Bay (1/6/07) and we loved every minute there. We went with the intention of eating out some times but never did as we enjoyed the food so much. There were 3 starters to chose from each night and 4 main meals. Each evenining there were several different forms of meat (including lamb, beef, pork and chicken) so you never needed to have the same meat every night, most of the meals were traditional Greek, which we loved. There were also plenty of desserts to choose from. The breakfasts were advertised as contintential, which we find is sufficient but they do provide an English breakfast if required for an extra 2 Euros, and we did have this a couple of times and it was cooked to perfection. We never felt the need to go out for more food after the evening meals, and believe me we love our food and always eat well. The staff were the most friendliest we have ever come across, and we have travelled extensively all over the world. We arrived at around 11.00 p.m. and they provided a meal for us on arrival without extra charge. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean and in a brilliant position. There was entertainment in the hotel most nights, not the sort we would have normally stayed in for but the staff made it so entertaining we stayed in to watch them. We made some brilliant friends there and hopefully plan to return next year to meet up again, also the staff became our friends. They all came to kiss us when we left, they all were brilliant and were always so pleasant. Please dont be put off this hotel by the bad comments, we could not fault it at all.
reasonable Hotel except the food
The Thomas Bay Hotel is a very friendly and clean hotel. It is only let down by the food offerings. Breakfast was a choice of Cornflakes or fruit-salad or yogurt, plus one piece of toast and a small roll. Evening meals were slighty better with a choice of starter ,main course and a sweet .In my wife and I stay we were served pork in various forms about 8 times and any vegetables ,when offered were terrible overcooked. the area of San Stefanos is a very pleasant area with lots of scenic walks. My wife and will be deffinately go back to this resort in a couple of years BUT we will not stay at the Thomas Bay hotel again .
Thomas Bay Hotel review Oct 06
Booked through Thomson we paid 280GBP each for one weeks half board accomodation. The hotel Thomas Bay is on the main road through San Stefanos and is situated ideally opposite bars, restaurants. It is a friendly hotel with the staff speaking good English. It is all open plan so the reception, sitting area, restaurant and bar are all in the same area. There is also a swimming pool (not heated), shaded eating area and plenty of sun loungers. Our room We stayed in room 212 which had a view of the next apartments and the access road to the hotel. The room itself had a small shower room (even though we were told it was a bathroom) with shower, loo and sink and plenty of white towels. There were two twin beds, two fitted wardrobes and chest of drawers. There were 2 bed side tables and a stool and a place for your suitcase.Through some french sliding doors; There was also a outside balcony (not quite a balcony as we were on the 1st floor but you know what I mean). It was tiled and had two plastic seats and a plastic table. There were dark red curtains which helped to keep the heat out and the sunshine for our daily siestas. (Although no mosquito nets which would be a good thing to have). There is also no tea/coffee making facilities so take your own kettle and mugs. The food Breakfast you were served tea or coffee, fresh orange juice, and had a choice of cornflakes with milk, greek yogurt and honey(which is lovley) or fresh fruit salad. Served with toast or seasame seed buns with jam and butter. If you wanted a "full english" it was an extra 2 euros for this you got 1 sausage, 2 fried eggs, some beans, 1 piece of bacon. (if you are into eating a full english go to the Condor Bar-opposite the hotel, you get so much more for your money and its 3.50 euros). It is served from 8pm til 11pm. The bar The bar was run by a nice man called Nicos. They had a happy hour every evening from 6pm-8pm where all the cocktails are 3.50 euros. They also served tea and cakes(scones with jam and cream or various homemade cakes served with a coffee/tea/cappochino for also 3.50 euros). Most mornings Sky News is on so you can catch up. The evening meal Each evening you got a choice of three starters, four main courses and also desserts-although you're never told the full range of the desserts most nights its ice cream, chocolate mousse, creme caramel, fruit salad, yogurt and honey and an extra fresh desset sometimes an apple pie or banoffee pie. The meals arent especially Greek and arent made for people with big appetites. My husband and I tended to eat at the hotel then go out a few hours later for supper. Dinner is served from 7pm until 10.30pm. The meals are served with bread and butter and a salad every evening. The tv is still on and its either VH1 or if there is a football match on this will be showing. The resort San Stefanos is a nice friendly safe resort. With about 8 eating establishments, an internet cafe/bar, two laundrys, several places to hire bikes/scooters, there is also a daily bus service going to Corfu Town (costs 6 euros return-takes 90 mins) and Sidari (4.80 euros return-takes 20-30 mins.) There is also a church and beautiful sandy beach with lots of sun loungers. Plus the water is quite shallow for a long way so it is very safe to swim in. We went in early October and the water was still warm. All in all a good holiday, we were the youngest couple in the hotel (mid 20s) the majority of people were 55-75. The hotel is good to use as a base or just for a lazy holiday. Although be warned there are several bars opposite which stay open late and could keep you wake quite late (most entertainment starts at 9pm and ends after midnight). Also the thomas bay does organised entertainment evening quizzes, karoke. Please note though family rooms are situated at the front of the hotel-this is closest to the road and the loud bars. The weather- we stayed in October and we had one grey cool day but the temperature was still 20 degrees. The rest of the week it was between 23 and 26 degrees. Most evenings it cooled down to 18 degrees. One warning is to take a very strong mosquito repellent and plug in repellants too as otherwise the only reminder of your holiday will be several horrible itchy bites. Must Visit Restaurants... Condor Bar,(great full english, has entertainment every night although we never went in the evening) Two Stars, (lovely for lunch-Kleftico and Gyros- they even gave us a free drink on our first day) Three Ws (internet cafe, shows films, has basic snacks and alcholic drinks) The Olive Press(owned an run by a very friendly chatty English Lady, fantastic traditional Greek Food) Mistal-(on the beach, order the mezes lots of delicious food and quite cheap too plus watch the sea and beach lovers) Mangos (other side of the beach-snack food and bar- opens at 11am and doesnt close to the last person leaves). Must do... go for a walk- we found a lovlely walk from the beach up a hill and past through lots of olive groves, family farms and had some great views. catch the local bus places instead of paying the over inflated prices of your travel company. swim in the sea. Eat gyros- a chicken or pork kebab served with a cross between pitta bread and nann bread, salad, tziaki and chips. Relax and enjoy your holiday.
Don't stay here
A very basic hotels with few facilities. the pool was freezing cold all the time. The rooms were very basic, no TV, radio or tea making facility. If you had a shower be prepared to flood the bathroom as curtain was too short. No air conditioning at all so if you were hot, you had to leave the patio door open which then meant you got bitten to death by the midges and other things. The food was just as bad. The "full English" consisted of a teaspoon of beans, a awful grease filled sausage and 2 fried eggs.(also covered in fat)and 1 slice of bacon so hard you could break you teeth on it. The evening meal was almost as bad, is such a small portion that I had the 3 course meal you got with your holiday then went out elsewhere to have a proper main course meal just to fill up. The only good thing about the stay here was that the staff were fantastic. Also was in a very good position in the centre of town about 3 minutes walk from the beach.
Going Back-AGAIN
We found the Thomas bay as a last minute holiday some 6 -7 years ago. We were totally smiten by the people and will be returning in 4 weeks time for our 16th visit. We go at least twice a year for a FIX!! Nothing is too much troublw for them and the whole village is a joy.
Our big fat Greek honeymoon
We did not even know we were going to be in this Hotel on this island, until my brother revealed a long-held secret during his best man's speech at our wedding reception, the night before our arrival at the Thomas Bay. The honeymoon we enjoyed at this Hotel gave us a fantastic start to our marriage. We would love to bring Sam (2 years) and Nathan (4 months) one day to sample the magic of this place. The village impressed us a great deal, the general atmosphere being very relaxed and welcoming. As for the Hotel, we can only sing their praises. The waitering staff were excellent, very friendly and professional. The pool was a bit cool for our liking, but once you got in, it was fine and became a part of the socializing with other residents and locals. We highly reccommend this Hotel to anybody, particularly newly-married couples like we were. Keep it up!
friendliest place in the world???
just got back from this hotel, had a great time nice and clean well run and very friendly.some rooms do have aircon but tends to be only on rooms that get a lot of sun(this is payable locally at 6euros a day)but fans for hire 20euros a week, they do direct booking and when i asked was told rate of 50euros a night which is for double room and half board.food was of a decent standard but a fairly limited choice 4 starters,4 main courses and various sweets,if you fancy a change there are maybe 20 places to eat mostly grecian cuisine but there is a mexican and a pizza place.hotel is reasonable priced for snacks and drinks we ran a tab and everything we had to drink plus snacks, water and lunches came to 260euros and that included wine at meals lots of gin and vodka and numerous cocktails.the staff are ultra friendly and cannot do enough to help and they seem to love their work and all join in the entertainment(kareoke, bingo, greek night and different quizzes, sounds a bit naff but was done well,we went out during kareoke and bingo but was allways full when we came back)5 mins from beach on a nice gentle stroll, nice pool at hotel and plenty of loungers.if you want to eat out you can have set meals at various places from 6 euro and most we spent was 36 euros on a huge meal with drinks at the mexican, all i can say is be prepared for the mozzies there quite hungry but if you have good repellant you could be lucky,if we go back to corfu would definitely go back here .have contact details for hotel if anybody wants them just mail me
