Our little piece of paradise
10 / 10
Nov 2010, Kirk Douglas

My Husband and I have visited the Romanza Hotel four times now and cannot imagine ever getting bored with spending our holiday there. We do not look upon the staff as workers at the Hotel, they are like an extension of our Family. We are always welcomed like the 'prodical son who has returned home', which is truly lovely. The Hotel is so welcoming, clean, food wonderful, in fact we cannot fault anything, cannot wait to go back next year. Margaret and Tony

My wife and I stayed at this lovely little hotel from may 3rd to 10th 2010.As soon as we stepped off the coach we received a warm welcome and were shown to our room without any fuss , we stayed in room 6.The room is very modern for a greek hotel , having just been refurbished with a nice walk in shower with modern sliding doors on the cubicle rather than the horrible curtains they often have over there.Nice red light fittings adorn the room , the mattresses are new this year so no more hard beds and a good nights sleep . We asked for a double bed but they were already booked , but in less than 10 minutes , Eleni came to the poolside bar to tell us that the beds were fastened together with a special device , so we ended up with a queen sized bed !! we couldnt feel the join at all.Breakfast comprises of two slices of bread or toast , a slice of cheese and ham, unlimited coffe or tea, a criossant and jams , honey and marmalade , if you ask you can have meusly . a cooked breakfast has to be paid for at 4.50 euros but is well worth it.1 sausage , 1 bacon , beans , 2 eggs ,mushrooms and tomatoe cooked to order. The staff are all fantastic , especially Andreas who runs the pool bar and restaurant ,the food in the evening is lovely and you get plenty , starter and main with salad and tzatsiki and a bottle of wine for 40 euros for 2 ,on a table looking out over the bay , Andreas even provided a candle for a romantic meal.A safe is only 5 euros for the week with no deposit which is very cheap for peace of mind. There is no kettle in the room so if you like a cuppa on the balcony , take your own , we did , 4 quid from Argos!.When we left , the whole family from the hotel came to the coach to say farewell to us and waved us off .If its a friendly relaxing place your looking for , then the Romanza is for you ......we had a fantastic stay and we will be going back again.

My husband and I have just spent 2 weeks at the Romanza Hotel in San Stefanos and we fell in love with the place as soon as we arrived! The view was 5 star and falling asleep to the sound of the waves was fantastic! We spent many of our days by the pool which we don't normally do as we tend to explore but found it too tempting to stay there and enjoy the views and wonderful food! The staff were all lovely and treated us like members of the family! Our room, whilst small & basic was very comfortable and cleaned every day by the maids.
San Stefanos was perfect for us - lots of lovely tavernas and bars. Our favourite restaurant was Ozzy Oil, definitely go to the BBQ night on Tuesdays and let Kerry & Nikos spoil you rotten with the best service and food imaginable! Other great restaurants were Mythica & Beachcomber, it was very hard to have a bad meal! I would certainly recommend the Romanza & San Stefanos to anyone.
The hill to the hotel was rather exhausting in the first couple of days, we soon got used to it and it at least made us feel like we were doing some exercise! We also enjoyed walking to Arilas as we stayed there 5 years ago so it was great to go back and the olive groves was another beautiful walk. Have been back for 2 days now but would go back tomorrow given the choice!

We have come 2 years running and it is one of the best places i have been to !!!.
It is basic in terms of accommodation - but there are no hidden extras like some other places - pay the small amount extra over other places that are cheaper and you will not be disappointed.
May is a bit cool like a warm summer /but in September just right.
Hill can be a bit of a chore /swimming pool cold- but other than that -
staff/location/views/food excellent.
Always look on line for general reviews - if there are a large number of disappointments - don't go - go here - this is brilliant for couples.
After looking on-line at other places in Corfu this still stands up to being great value.

I have read the mostly excellent reviews and can only agree, I’ve been lucky enough to visit the Greek islands for the past 15 years, and nowhere, and I repeat nowhere, can rival the view I got from room 8.
Staff, 10/10, the lamb kleftico has to be sampled to believed, 10/10 - people, the rooms aren’t the Ritz Carlton but this is Greece, and you can get 10 days for under £300, what more do you want? They’re clean and comfortable.

We had the most wonderful time staying at the Romanza and are now booking for 2008.
Restaurants that have wonderful food around San Stefanos are the Little Prince, Nafsika Hotel and a tucked away restaurant up near the Tsaros Apartments and Pool - well worth a visit.
The atmosphere was amazing, the service in the hotel was brilliant and we did eat there in the evening too, the food was lovely...don’t all book there though, as it was just perfect without too much noise!!

What can I say? The Food - Fantastic....

May 2007, Mr N Richardson

What can I say? The Food - Fantastic. The Staff - Fantastic, helpful and let us put the footy on. The Views - Even better.
There are 15 of us who go every year from as far south as Southampton and as far north as Newcastle. We add another couple to our group every year, yet they still let us come.
They put a table together for us and they remember which people are paying for what. Leo lets us put the footy on.
We love it. We are coming back in 07. Watch out the rabble will be there. If you’ve booked your holiday for the end of July beginning of August. We’ll see you there.

Our two week holiday was fantastic...

Our two week holiday was fantastic value, including 3 days car hire cost £560.
The flight was onboard a b767 plenty of leg room but the seats were very narrow.
Hotel Romanza was very good, the staff were very helpful, nothing was to much trouble.
The food in the restaurant was amongst the best in the area, with very good value pricing. The hotel is set up on a hill with fantastic views, with picture card sunsets. You do need to be able to walk well to get the benefit of the area as it is quite steep in places.
The hill down into the village was given the name cardiac hill, by those staying with us. The only real problem that we had was mosquitoes, so take plug-ins, insect repellent and if you can take anti-histamine tablets.

After arriving at the hotel about...

After arriving at the hotel about 6am, we were shown to our room. On reading many excellent reviews on this hotel,we were quite disappointed to be given room 9, which i can only compare to a prison cell.
Now before I carry on let me tell you that my fiancé and I have been to the Greek islands many times before including Corfu 3 times, and know that accommodation is very basic, but this really was a shock, especially after such good reviews.
There were bars on our door, we had no front window, a tiny window about 10 inches diameter at the back that was falling out, the fuse box was open, the grate on the bathroom floor was loose and very sharp, mould on the toilet and dark decor.
We decided to ask reception if we could change rooms as all the other rooms seemed to be of the standard that we expected.
After 3 days we moved to room 6 and were very pleased. The view was fantastic, it was clean and we both thought we were in a different hotel.
The meals in the hotel were very good and the waiters service at breakfast was excellent, however we found the staff quite rude at times, whether this was because we complained I don't know but we were polite and did not deserve this.
Now on to the resort, I’ll keep it brief, the restaurants were excellent particularly Zorbas and the Little Prince.
Nightlife is fairly low key although there are one or two lively bars. One night we were in condor club until 4am!
All in all we had a great holiday other than the first 3 days, would we go back to this hotel, we would have to say no.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Great views, great food, clean, friendly, quiet, and relaxing. Not really for kids or the young who want night life - but that suits me fine.
Chilled out by the pool every day with my ipod and a book. Food and drink prices were reasonable. I would love to stay there again. One of the best places I have stayed. I go away a lot so that is saying something.

Another year another brilliant...

Aug 2006, Mr J Newton

Another year another brilliant holiday and birthday at the Romanza. Costa and Helena (the owners) and Leo the manager and their staff are now part of our family.
The hotel stands on the cliff top looking down onto the best beach in Corfu and every room has a sea view.
The accommodation is spotlessly clean with regular linen and towel change, every room has a fridge some have air conditioning (request this on your booking if required).
The food at the Romanza cooked by Leo and his family is, we think, excellent both for quality and variation and presentation is the best in the resort.
The hill down to the village and down to the beach is steep but us old uns always manage it at a steady pace.
Entertainment is Greek dancing on a Monday night and live music on a Wednesday night. Always plenty of room around the lovely big pool and never a scramble for sun beds.
Romanza(Greek for lovely view) is the best spot to witness the evening sunset. We love the place so much that our new house is called the Romanza.
We shall be back there has usual in 2007.
