Reviews of Mimosa Beach Hotel, Protaras, Cyprus
Mimosa Beach Hotel, Protaras
Away from the hustle and bustle of the resort centre, the Mimosa Beach stands in a peaceful location overlooking the bay. For those who have always dreamt of exploring the magical underwater world there is a diving school in the hotel grounds (run by separate management).

Our party of five stayed at the Mimosa for 2 weeks. My sister, her husband and I are from Canada and my cousin and her husband from England.
All five of us had an absolutely fantastic stay. The rooms were clean, the food, prepared under the direction of chef, Christoferos, was incredibly good (and plenty of it) and Linda and Eugene were exceptionally good hosts. The other hotel clients we met were very friendly and seemed to be enjoying the hotel as much as we were. The best description I can give of the hotel is that it is a peaceful little oasis on Cyprus.
Because we had a rental vehicle, we were not restricted in any way and spent a number of days touring the island, visiting local communities and taking the opportunity to visit businesses and tourist shops in Protaras and Paralimni often. The location of the hotel was a real plus as we were close enough to Protaras if we wanted to visit nightclubs, but far enough away that we were able to enjoy the quiet nights at the Mimosa when we wanted to do so (the majority of the time).
I would recommend this hotel to anyone I know (I already have). We were the first Canadians to visit the hotel and we were very impressed. I have every intention of returning to the Mimosa in the near future even though Cyprus is a two-flight trip (about 12 hours flying time from Ottawa), with a day or two stay in England between flights.

Mimosa Hotel was fantastic. The two best features were the staff and the beach. There are only a small staff of about 12 people, all of who seem to enjoy their work and because of this created a friendly, relaxed but professional atmosphere. I broken my ankle on the second day of my holiday (great medical care in Cyprus) and the staff at Mimosa went out of their way to find a ground floor room for us to move to and checked everyday to see how I was. The breakfast were great and if you are half board you can change your evening meal for something from the daytime menu, great if you want to go out for the evening. My only negative comments would be that the evening buffet is a bit limited if you are vegetarian, but there was always a great salad buffet. The eating area is outside so you can sit and enjoys views of the beach while having breakfast and your evening meal.
The beach is small and safe and just yards away from pool area and bar. It is used mainly by people from Mimosa Hotel. We never had trouble finding sun beds either around the pool or on the beach, even in August. The hotel and beach are used a lot by the lovely Cypriot people, which is as good a recommendation as any. All in all a great hotel.
Great little beach, backing onto the hotel gardens but walk to your left (as you look at the sea) and you will come to another beach and a lovely headland used by the divers with a few old fashioned fishing boats. Great photo opportunity, as this then looks but at the hotel. Keep walking from here and you come to a few other nice beaches. A bit bigger with water sports etc. Lovely walk for early mornings and evenings and no need to go up onto the main road. A bit rocky, but we managed it in flip-flops’! Look out for the ice cream man who goes between these beaches but don’t park in his spot….he will move you:-)
Bars and restaurants were a little bit further away than we expected, and the bus service isn’t brilliant, so being on crutches made it difficult to get to Protaras but the hotel will phone a taxi for you. 7 Euros each way. A car would be an advantage if you stay at the Mimosa Hotel but want to get out and about to eat and sample the culture of Cyprus.
Protaras was disappointing, modern and purpose built, and a bit ‘down-market’ no old town or town square, and not many proper Cypriot family run restaurants. No character. Head into the villages for this.

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the mimosa 14thjune-28june 2008
on 1st arrival the hotel actually looks abit nicer than the brochure pictures. The hotel is situated about 30min walk from protaras and if you want a drink away from the hotel you have to go there because the hotel is in the middle of knowhere.Drinks in the hotel were very expensive,5euro 70 for a pint and a half of beer. The food was ok,not alot of choice though.Entertainment wise there wasnt much going on,cypriot night etc but nothing worth staying in the hotel spending loads of money at the bar for.The rooms were just basic 3star rooms, cleaned everyday. They have a cooler which is locked which you can pay 4 euros a day to have(another rip off). The pool is a decent size and a little private beach is 10 second walk.Me and my girlfriend didnt spend much time in the hotel and tried to get out and about because everything is extemely expensive. There is a little supermarket about 5 minutes up the road which is cheap.I would recomend this hotel to old couples who want to have piece and quiet,it is defo not for young groups or couples because its too far out the way and the hotel is full of older people so didnt get chance to meet many people.I had a nice time but wouldnt go back here,if i came back i would stay in ayia napa which has much more to do than protaras anyway.Protaras is too much for familys, karaoke bars hosting the same night every night(Elvis night, abba night). If you are a young couple do not stay in protaras,go to ayia napa its not as mad as people say.

Beginning of June and the weather was dawn to dusk sun so got plenty of chances to use the pool which was never crowded but neither was the beach at the bottom of the garden. Having booked half board we were ready to go out for evening meals to sample the local restaurants and night life but never bothered since the food was better than available in the locality. All the staff were very friendly and very willing to help us learn a few basic Greek Cypriot phrases. Highlites included the very friendly guests who would talk late into the night around the poolside bar as well as the hotel organised nights.
Is it all too good to be true? well there was one complaint and it concerned the cleaning of the balconies. Hopefully the hotel management will take notice and ensure the standard is as good outside the rooms as it is inside.
Was is there to do? coastal walks, water activities, boat trips (excellent value and a release from the hot weather, jeep safari into the Troodos mountains (not recommended since so much time is spent in travelling) and visiting sites of historical interest.
Would I go back? very definitely the holiday and hotel was superb but I would not return with Olympic Hoidays since their rep. never visited the hotel and never answered a telephone call. The First Choice rep. was available however and proved friendly and helpful.

Excellent hotel, very clean & rooms cleaned everyday. Nothing was too much trouble here, we requested a ground floor room from Aspro-Thomas Cook due to my wife having mobility problems but this wasn't passed on to the hotel, within 10 minutes of arriving we were moved to a ground floor room without even having to ask.
The hotel is a good half hour walk from Protaras main drag, although taxi's are not expensive-we paid 7 Euros (up to 4 people and the bus stops at the top of the road.
The quality of the food was excellent with plenty of traditional Cypriot as well as International dishes on offer.
We have already booked to back in October for our Wedding anniversary and look forward to seeing everybody again.

Mimosa Beach is great for young couples and families. The rooms are cleaned every day and the hotel itself is very clean in general. The pool is a good size and the bar snacks are quite good for lunch, plenty of choice. The beach is 30 seconds from the pool and is beautiful; it's very small but if you swim out past the rock pier with a snorkel mask or some goggles you can see 2 statues under the water. You do get charged for sunbeds on the beach so it is cheaper to get a sunbed off the beach as it's literally a step down and you are on the sand anyway.
This hotel is about 2-3km away from the main Protaras nightlife but there is a regular bus service which will take you straight there and the bus stop is just a couple of minutes walk away. We walked in every night and it took us about 25 minutes along a flat path so it really easy if you don't mind the exercise.
We also caught the bus to Nissi beach a couple of days which takes about 15 mins and takes you through Aiya Napa too so there are plenty of places to get out and about to.
We stayed on a B&B basis. The food is ok, the usual cereal & toast as well as fruit juices and coffee.
Protaras is a great night, loads of bars & restaurants and very good for families, there were usually live bands on every night too! I would advise anyone not to go to Promises Italian restaurant though. It looks very nice but the food is cheap and processed.
Hope this is useful.

I stayed with the family at Mimosa during the beginning of July; therefore quiet due to the children had not left school yet.
I felt this Hotel is more for couples or people who fancy a relaxing holiday!
The poolside is peaceful with no music and a great part is that it’s like a 30 second walk to your private beach! It’s quite small but ideal for relaxing!
With your poolside Bar serving refreshing drinks and nice meals (except for this one time a few birds flew down and tried to rob some chips... I wasn’t having any of it).
Thanks Stelios (he was well gutted when I beat him at footy though) here it’s just nice to spend the day by the pool.
The only downside is the fact that you have to book a taxi to get into Protaras with its bars and restaurants (karaoke bar is a must), it has 2 main nightclubs!
Nightlife is ok but if you want a mad night I usually headed down to Ayia Napa which is only like a 10-15min taxi ride!
The beaches in Protaras is well good, full of sports activities. Anyhow back to the hotel, we had a great room overlooking the pool!
The hotel was very clean, a tiny little gym, and if you like scuba diving...you can head down to the beach with an instructor.
In our rooms we were very messy, but cleaners did a good job, they changed the towels about every 2 days and bins were emptied daily.
We on a half board, but I was lazy so I missed the early breakfast due to late nights. But the evening meals were exquisite!
If you enjoy tennis there’s a tennis court right next to the hotel!
Anyway as I’m a teenager I wanted to go more into Protaras itself, this place is quite out of the way, but if you’re a young couple, this place is class!
The Mimosa is just fantastic! If...

The Mimosa is just fantastic! If you want a chilled out holiday with the beach right on your doorstep, then this is the place to be.
The rooms are spotless, the food is great and Linda, Eugene and their staff come 10/10 on the hospitality scale.
I would advise anyone to get their own transport as the Mimosa is a mile or so from the night-life of Protaras, but who cares when you’re staying in paradise!
I would also advise a trip up the hill to Konnos Bay. What a gem of a beach! This was our fourth time back to the Mimosa and I never want to holiday anywhere else again. It’s that good.

Eleven members of my family stayed at the Mimosa Beach Hotel from 21st June until 5th July 2006. The staff were so friendly and helpful it was amazing. The hotel was spotless, the rooms were cleaned daily, the food was excellent (which didn't help the waistline) and you could have as much as you could eat at either breakfast or dinner. It is an ideal place to chill out and enjoy a peaceful, relaxing holiday, sunbathing by the pool or down at the seashore which is only about five yards away. Within easy reach of Protaras, Ayia Napa, Paralimni, taxi rates were cheap and reliable. I would not recommend it for holidaymakers who want to party the night away but for anyone else I would say superb and we will definitely be back.

Well do I start? We have been using to this hotel for the last 5 years. The Beach is second to none, its idea if you don't want to hassle of Fig tree which is over commercial these days, don't get me wrong its a cracking beach but can get busy.
Mimosa Beach Hotel is owned by a English lady named Linda and her Cypriot husband Eugene, we have got to know them very well. For the scuba buddies amongst you, happy divers are on site, Costa is the main man, ex navy diver so he’s well experience, PADI qualified.
Only down fall the entertainment is not that often, can be very quiet so Protaras is the best place to go at night, 20 min walk or a taxi ride. The beach is only a 600 yard walk, so it’s on your door step. Its a public beach so they charge for the beds. Plenty of beds around the pool. Would recommend the Mimosa Beach hotel to anyone, it’s a gem of a hotel.

We went to Cyprus for a week in the half term holiday. Our party consisted of me, my husband, ma teen daughter and young daughter and son. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the holiday. The pool is just about big enough and was almost empty all the time we were there.
Not surprising seeing as the beach is about 10 steps away. Its is a beautiful beach with a great number of small in the clear blue water perfect for snorkelling. The actual body of water is surrounded nearly all the way round apart from a small gap about 2 meters wide which leads out to the sea. The rock the children (including my husband) all enjoyed climbing on the rocks which formed the wall for the sea. Most days there was an extremely friendly fisherman at the end of the formation who spoke to us nearly everyday while he fished.
The food was spot on every night apart from the Greek night which happened to be our first night. The food, especially to the kids, tasted all the same and very bland.
Other local beaches could be quite crowded but there was always bed space for everyone.
The choice of water sport on nearby beaches was exceptional and at very good prices. We went paragliding in pairs and banana boating which everyone loved.
Overall everyone loved the holiday, and we would go again.

This hotels was absolutely spot on! The staff where friendly, the meals where lovely and it was very clean, maids came round everyday to tidy room!
Although it was a bit out the way it was lovely quiet location on the beach. It was only 70 cent (£1) to get the bus into Protaras it was also the same amount to go to Ayia Napa and the water park.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone!!!!!!!!!
