Golden Coast Beach Hotel Reviews
" Great location, not so good food "
Submitted By: Blyth28Now the down side; the food was just not to our liking, as it seemed the hotel tried to cater for too many nationalities (German, Russian/Balkan, French, Greek, English) much like ‘Jack of all trades and master of none’. Food was re-cycled from lunch to dinner in a slightly different guise (eg without sauce for lunch, plus sauce for dinner) and from dinner to breakfast the following morning.
We had chosen ‘all inclusive’ to help balance the poor currency rate of Pound v Euro, but sometimes wondered if we’d done the right thing ie all wines/spirits are local – any named brands are ‘extra’ and the measures/quality were so poor that there was little taste. On the bright side, we never had a hangover!
Although having paid extra to go all inclusive, in all bars and dining rooms, floor waiters would only accept drink orders from ‘paying guests’ ie those without yellow ‘all inclusive’ wrist bands. Floor waiters would collect glasses from all tables, but stood idle for most of the time, when they could have been taking orders. This made us feel like second class citizens when compared to ‘paying guests’ who could order drinks and have them delivered to their table or sun lounger. Although the First Choice rep took this up with Hotel Management on our behalf, who promised to look into it, nothing changed in the time we were there.
Standard inland rooms have poor views of watermelon and tomato growing fields, so we upgraded to a 4th floor sea view room (@ 12 Euros pp per night) which was well worth it, as we had a 180 degree view of the pool, beach, harbour and neighbouring beaches.

Submitted By: Lukas566My biggest concern before I even choose Golden Coast Hotel, was the food. But now, after 14 days in the hotel, I can say that they have the best food I've ever tasted in my whole life. The food was far to good for a 4 star hotel. I can honestly say that their food was even better than a 5 star hotel.
The location of the hotel is amazing. Very relaxed and quiet place, nice outdoor, indoor pool and jacuzzi. The beach was also great.
The staff really made you feel like home their. Reception staff, maintenance, housekeepers, bar staff etc were all great with us and very friendly. I even made some friends while I was there.
The rooms were spotless, but my only regret is that we should have booked for a sea view instead of an inland view. I really wanted to have a Sea view, but they were all booked at the time we checked in.
Will definitely visit this hotel during this July.
Advice: The best place to be for relaxing holidays
Activities: The Protaras Aquarium was amazing
Good for: Ski Beach
" Fantastic "
Submitted By: Belle2006I really could not find fault with this hotel, the staff were amazing and everywhere was clean.
On our wedding day the staff really went out of their way to make it so special for us - I really could not complain about anything!
We ate out of the hotel in the evenings as we went B&B due to the fact we enjoy going to new places to eat. Pernera has a large selection of restaurants which is just a 5-10 minute walk along the coastal path & protaras has an even larger selection.
The hotel has its own beach where we went snorkelling everyday!
Touroughly enjoyed our stay at the Golden Coast and would recommend it to honeymooners & wedding parties!

" Not so Golden "
Submitted By: NortherersAll inclusive was terrible. Would not serve ice cream to children - wanted 7 Euro's for 3 scoops of ice cream. All drinks - including coffee and beer, are not the same as a paying guest. No snacks available - only stale cheese and ham sandwich.
Hotel has NOT go ramps for push chairs or wheelchairs and steep steps down to beach. NOT for disabled users or the infirm. Only access between floors is by 2 small lifts - again certainly seen better facilities elswhere
Swimming pool is very small and could see it being very busy and packed out during mid season - also you will have to be up early morning just to get a sun bed.
Can upgrade if booked Full Board to all inclusive for 25 Euros per person per day but an expensive move to be served with sub standard facilities.
Certainly not worth it's money and would look elsewhere.
Hotel is outside Protaras and will cost approx 12 Euros for taxi.
Hotel itself is pretty clean, but seen better considering its cost and present rating.

However i would warn people - the laundry costs are out of this world, so if you can cope without washing for your hols, then you're sorted!
" The most amazing hotel I've been to.... "
Submitted By: Ms LM MilneThe bar staff were really funny and great. The entertainment was fantastic and they even did a pool fire show that was very exciting and got you to the edge of your seat with eyes wide open, great people and they used to perform in London.
The food was probably 7/10 but wasn't awful but a tiny bit repetitive.
The swimming pool was massive as there was an indoor one, freezing, an outdoor one, quite warm, and the sea!!
A short walk along the beach ends you up at a little port house were you could hire a jet ski or a peddle boat, i would recommend to do that..when the sea is calm.
loved the stay would definitely return for 2 weeks this time.

" What a fantastic holiday! My... "
Submitted By: Miss S J WoodheadWe were very impressed with all aspects of the hotel with the exception of the food, which wasn't a major bad point just not as good as expected. It was quite repetitive and not much choice if you are veggie/pregnant/special diets. However, the staff are all very friendly, the rooms are very clean and kept clean to a high standard and the facilities are unbeatable!
The air conditioning in the rooms was not what we would call air con, more like a fan and didn't keep you cool at all. We were told it was because of the heat wave and the system couldn't cope with it.
The outdoor pool tends to get quite warm later in the afternoons but the indoor pool really does cool you off if you're in need of it (which we were as the temperature hit a whopping 45 degrees)!
There are supermarkets and shops nearby catering for all your needs and Protaras' main town is a short taxi journey (approximately 8-9 mins) which costs very little (Cypriot £4 - very reasonable)! You are spoilt for choice with the variety of shops (and a McDonalds)!
Hiring a car is a must - Cyprus really is a beautiful place and if you're there, you need to see it. We hired a car, just for 3 days, but we are so very glad we did. However, make sure you get one with air con as we didn't! We had a soft top but with the roof down, it's like sitting in front of a giant sized hair dryer!
We would definitely recommend this hotel and holiday and anyone considering it as it was without a doubt the best holiday we have been on. We wouldn't hesitate to go back as we had such a fantastic time - hope you do too!

Submitted By: Mrs J LeeseThe hotel was brilliant, there is a main bolck with reception and bars etc. and also smaller 3 storey blocks which housed more rooms. The rooms where a good size and well furnished, with a nice bathroom. The pools are clean and well laid out with plenty of room for everyone. The entertainment team were very well organised and friendly we keep in touch withy many of them.
All the staff at the hotel couldn't do enough for us. The choice of food was excellent and the service was second to none. The small town was very Greek and not too far to walk, we enjoyed strolling around.
The beach is great, very clean and stretching for miles. The sea is nice and shallow ideal for children. We would love to go again but can't find anyone who sells this hotel anymore. Very disappointed. If you usually go to the Greek islands give the mainland a try, see a little of the real Greece

Submitted By: Mr G ChapmanManagers greet you to ensure the hotel is running to your expectations. Being all inclusive was well worth it but the only downside was that the food was repetitive but there was a choice of children’s foods too! The rooms were always clean and well presented and the housekeeping staff were also friendly.
The hotels location is a little bit far out of the main centre where all the clubs, bars and restaurants are but a short taxi journey of 5 or 10 minutes soon gets you there! A very good holiday and we will definitely be going back again very soon!

Submitted By: Mrs C JacobsThe beach is very nice but not too great for snorkelling as not many fish that I could see, there is also a spa offering a discounted treatment daily. Although the food is of a good standard, we ate out once in Protaras, as the craving for something different does get to you after some time.
I would definitely return to this hotel, but off to Halkidiki first!

Submitted By: Mr K HoodLocation - it is a little bit out of the way of the centre of Protaras and you will need to get a bus into the centre, easily a 30 minute walk, and is in the small town of Pernera. The Hotel is right on the beach.
All Inclusive - the only down side, is the food at meals. At the start of the week the meals are lovely, served in a buffet style. As much salad, soup and main course as you can eat. The mains are stuff like lamb and pork chops, potatoes, veg, pastas and other dishes. Then there is as much fruit as you can eat and cakes.
However toward the end of the week the meals seemed to get a bit repetitive and had the same taste even though they were different dishes. We went out on the last 2 nights to a restaurant 15mins away in Pernera. Its not that the meals aren’t nice I just wouldn’t like to eat them constantly for 2 weeks. The breakfasts are spot on though, again buffet style but english fry ups this time. The drinks are spot on and as long as you don’t ask for branded spirits you'll spend nothing. Water is all inclusive too. You get free sun beds but then you have to pay if you go the beach.
Evening Entertainment is a group of friendly English girls who I must admit try their hardest and hardly stop all day. They'll play beach volleyball, football and water polo and their show on a night is excellent.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel only eat out now and again.

On arrival to cyprus we connected via coach (45mins), no problems.
We stayed for 1 month so really got to know this place like the back of our hands and can only highly recommend this wonderful hotel. Very large clean hotel with the most amazing chefs/food. All inclusive certainly meant all inclusive with personal access to stella pumps during the day! which lots of guest found very helpful! Chef made breakfast every morning and pleasant dining areas inside and out. Weather is fantastic this time of year, and didnt see a cloud until landing at Gatwick! The rooms are fairly standard, but clean, but with the location, which is right next to a small harbour and on a beach, you find that you are out all day soaking up the sun. Watersports, scuba schools and beach volley ball are constant daily. Weddings at this hotel are exceptional, no stress, no fuss, very experienced and totally set up and prepared for weddings. They handle everything (if you let them) from food to photography to locations, which they offer several options in the huge grounds of their hotel. not much in the way of shops too close by, but with a bus stop, or cab rank outside its a short trip into town where you will find usual holiday strips shops bars restaurants etc.
This is very much geared up for families, young and old, terrific value for money, especially at the moment with the pound against the euro!! If you are wondering about this hotel it is lovely so dont worry there are no hidden downers.
Great beach, good food, plenty of kids clubs which are well run and very entertaining for the little ones.
Staff are terrific and cant do enough never had or see any problems with the staff, some are English aswell!!
Real true 4 star with some updating and modernising this would be 5 stars easily! a must do!
