Never ever stay here!
This hotel should not be marketed on the internet (or anywhere else for that matter). It is nothing more than a brothal for the local hookers. There was a subway sandwich shop below, from which a vile smell seeped upwards though the building. Two years on I can still smell it. I was charged a rate of $145 per night for three nights. Now for New York I thought, at the time, that was cheap/good value so I didn't expect much. But nothing could have prepared me for what I saw. My wife cried when she got there, since it was late we... more
Worst ever!!!!
I can't believe they actually call that thing a hotel...First, the cab driver didn't even find it caue it looks more like a one-family apartment than a hotel! It doesn't really have a lobby and when you see the receptionist, you get scared and wanna run away! The stairway was so narrow that you hardly could drag your bags up to the room and the room itself - horror! Smelled like it hadn't gotten any air in 2 years-totally rotten...didn't even have a window....totally dirty....really horror.....wouldn't stay there again if they paid me!!!!
Dirt and mice in the center of NYC
Our staying was disturbed by the dirtyness of the room (room 105), where we hoped the four days would go by quickly, but we weren't that lucky! Beakfast was served on the ground floor, where the ceiling was being replaced and the works were ongoing. In the second night we were awaken by mice on the trash ca of our room. The clerk moved us to another room, but the key did not work and finally we went to yet another room on the third floor (room 312), dirty as the others, but far away from the ground flood where the food from th... more
Furry Little Visitor
Our reservation was for 6 nights, paid for in advance at New York Inn. I knew it was a discount hotel in downtown New York so was completely prepared for "bare-bones", safe and clean was all I ask for. The advertisement said renovated rooms. I called the hotel well in advance, requesting a renovated room .. they neglected to say the renovation took place in 1920 and the hotel hadn't been cleaned since!!!! Cracked, broken and filthy stairs greeted us. The dirt on the windows, window sills and radiator was, no exaggeration, 5 inches... more
This was a hotel?
Well, if I could assign less than one star, I would. Yea, I know I was paying for a bargain hotel room, but wow...can you call this a hotel? Starting from the beginning, I actually walked up and down the street a couple of times because I didn't see the hotel. At the Subway Shop, I looked up and finally found the sign for the hotel. Going in, the desk manager was nice and helpful. As I climbed up the third floor, I noticed the hotel in dis-repair. I made it up to my room and wasn't surprised how small the room...that's a... more
Hotel from Hell
This was the worst experience imaginable. I will never book a hotel on Hotels. com ever again. They need to be aware of what they are advertising. When the folks in the room above us took a shower, we got their water in our shower. Our toilet backed up and was flooding the Subway sandwich shop underneath our room. It was filthy dirty. We had carved initials on our headboard and a bare light bulb in the ceiling with no fixture. The sheet count must have been TWO... you could see your hand through the sheet. Many days we didn't get a warm... more
Give it a wide berth
Never actually got to stay here since they gave our rooms away. I booked 3 double rooms and on arrival found they had cancelled 2 of them. We were quite glad in the end because first impressions were awful. It is in a busy area with no frontage and broken, dirty steps to the 'lobby'. The hotel manager could not have been more unhelpful if he had tried. 2 other people were just leaving to go to another hotel and advised us not to stay there as it was dirty and unsecure. We did not expect much when we booked but got even less... more
Don't Expect Too Much!!!
As a general guide, if you are a family or a couple DO NOT book this hotel-you will be extremely disappointed. If you are a student, backpacker or travelling alone you can put up with it. First of all the downside. The carpets in the public areas are filthy and smelly, and in some areas they have been removed. The lobby smells of tom cat and stale pizza and is small, dark and gloomy. The stairs are in poor repair with banister posts missing. There are no emergency fire instructions in the room and no clear directions in the public areas to... more
Prostitute Inn!
What a nightmare. We (my 23 year old daughter and I) booked a room online at the New York Inn and the information and pictures were very deceiving! When we walked in the tiny entrance, 4 prostitutes walked out and another 2 came down the stairs with their clients! When we told the scarry man at the desk that we had a reservation, he looked at us like we were nuts. He pretended to check his register and said we were not on it. Thank God!! As we were standing there, a painted lady in a disgusting outfit walked by me and purposely bumped... more
homeless hostel
This is definetely the worst hotel i have ever been in let alone stayed in! And believe me i have stayed in a few. On entering the recepttion I almost threw up with the smell coming from the subway take away, I had to hold my breath entering and leaving the building the smell was so bad. I eventually did throw up with the smell and didnt even bother to clean it up as the hotel is such a ---------. the rooms are barely big enough to fit a double bed in, with 3 feet to spare one end and the bed touching both walls head and feet ends. This is... more
