Michelangelo Hotel Reviews
Aug 2007, Mrs H Sheridan
We had a lovely time at this hotel, it is so central to bus and train station, shops etc. The hotel itself was lovely and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was ok, and I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone, I would definitely stay... more

Highly recommend
from Barny1
We have today returned from a weeks stay at this hotel. We recommend the hotel to everyone. Excellent location, friendly staff (especially bar staff). Wasn't sure what to expect from the pool having read previous reviews - yes it is in the shade in the morning but there is an alternative roof garden with sun loungers which has full sun! We travelled on a budget and got the hotel at a reasonable price on the internet - our room wasn't big and didn't have a bath or good views - it was in the annexe to the main hotel but was clean and had very comfortable beds with a small balcony. The location made up for any downsizing of rooms - brilliantly located close to the centre but without noise (apart from Tuesday and Sunday - but we'll let the italians off they had just won the semi-final and the final of the world cup!! Brilliant atmosphere - these people know how to celebrate). Bar prices were as cheap as anywhere else and the barman makes lovely cocktails. We stayed for bed and breakfast - breakfast was sufficient - just a cold buffet - ask for the cappucino if you don't like your coffee too strong. Please don't be put off by other recent negative reviews - I think they were just unfortunate - if you enjoy your stay as much as we did you won't go far wrong.
Great Hotel, Great Location!
from Seaforth35
We stayed in this hotel for three nights and it was a great base for exploring Sorrento and surrounding areas. The hotel is in a good location, close to lots of nice restaurants and cafes. The room and facilities were modern and clean and the staff were friendly (especially the bar staff). I would highly recommend the Michelangelo as a good value for money 4* hotel.
nice Hotel
from MarioCornwall
Very well run modern hotel close to the town centre, but in a quiet location. Food was very good, staff friendly and polite and the room was exceptionally clean. Ideal place to explore the surrounding area. Definitely a 4 star hotel. Special thanks to Jakita our First Choice rep; nothing was too much trouble for her. Mario Fonk
It has a high standard to reach based on reviews!

The Michelangelo is indeed a great hotel. It's clean, service good, good location. The restaurant is more than adequate but if I had to quibble - the fruit juice was horrible (obviously personal taste - I'm sure this comment will not deter anyone I hope!). With respects to room allocation - don't get your hopes up - we were given one of the smallest rooms in the hotel, no bath and not a great view from the balcony (there aren't that many rooms that do have a great view, most look out either onto the railway line, or to the back of the front part of the building) - this wasn't a big deal though. In the area, I would recommend; * The small pizza place just a few shops down if you turn left out of the hotel * The Arco Naturale in Capri - away from all the tourists! * Ravello * Do the trips independantly, don't waste your money on Tour operator deals. * Obviously, the ice-cream - yummy.
Nice Traditional Italian Hotel
from Brade
My Husband and I and our family have just stayed at The Michelangelo for a week, 16-23rd June, as our Daughter was getting married in Sorrento. It is perfectly placed being 5 minutes away from everything. I would describe the Hotel as a Traditional Hotel, it was spotlessly clean, and the staff were very attentive, and more than willing to help you. The Front Desk were especially helpful as were Pepe The Bar Manager, who is very funny, and courteous too, the drinks in the bar were cheaper than in The Town around Piazza Tasso, and The Champagne Cocktail was lovely. Rooms are not overly large, but accomodated my husband and I perfectly, and I do know that they have bigger rooms also. The Pool is small and freezing, but dont let that put you off, on blistering hot days that we had, 35 degrees most times it was lovely to cool off.. Breakfast is continental, and evening meal there are lots of choices for starters, mains, desserts. All in all a lovely stay.
Lives up to expectations

Thank you for the previous reviews which made us decide on booking this hotel. The staff at the Hotel were extremely helpful and curteous, Pepe the bar manager is a great assett to the Hotel with his first class service and brilliant sense of humour. We paid for the larger balcony were glad we did. The location of the hotel is ideal for exploring the town, the pool is in the shade in the morning and 'Freezing".Ask for the Foreigners Club which has a wonderful view of the Bay of Naples where you can chill out with a drink etc.,If you go to Capri don't miss the chairlift and the wonderful view of Capri.
No concern for traveler's safety

Be aware that this hotel has two buildings across the road from the other. A member of our group was placed in the second building while the rest were in the main building. In the early morning hours drunken guests in the room next door awakened and terrified her. The night manager was not concerned for her safety. In fact he were more interested in accommodating the 4 out of control guests next door. In discussing this with the management next day they continued to show no concern for the security of single female travelers.
Drunk over Sorrento
from A TripAdvisor Member
I had a very bad experience at this hotel. We stayed there May16th and 17th. The people in the next room were drunk. They were banging on the ajoining walls at 2:30 a.m. At 3:10 a.m. their drunken friend came to their hotel room door and continued to bang on the door. I called the front desk, complained and demanded to have my room be moved. The night manager came to the room and let the drunk man in to the next room. He didn't have a key. At no time were these drunkards asked to keep it down. The hotel didn't even help me move my luggage to the new room. They didn't apologize. I would never stay there again. Dr. Gwynne Schwartz

Great hotel, very clean, spacious room & bath. Staff extremely kind & helpful. The exchange rate from USD to Euro was the same at the hotel & alll around town & better than in Munich. Good location, was able to walk everywhere from Marina Grande thru old town & to Marina Piccolo. Great place to stay for excursions along the Amalfi coast & Paestum
