Marriott Hotel La Guardia

I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott for business May 21 - 25. I chose this hotel do to it's proximity to the airport and my work location. It would have been better for me to drive an hour each way than stay here. The hotel leaves a lot to be desired. Clearly the $299/night rate is for the convenience - because the hotel itself is not even worth $99 a night. The disappointment started with the hotel's complimentary shuttle. We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We had an easy check in and check out. The rooms were nice clean and a good size for New York. The Airport runway was just outside our window and you would have never have known. It was neat to watch the planes taxi out and take off. The hotel had someone at the front to set up transportation if you wanted it. There is a shuttle for $7 per person to Time Square on the weekend. They also have a complimentary coffee bar. We wanted to show our children New York, but we can't afford to stay in Manhattan, so we opted for the Courtyard Marriott. Excellent choice! Shuttled free from the airport, they kept our bags because it was too early to check in, and shuttled us to Manhattan for $5 each. We returned tired after a long day, via the subway and bus (easy and relatively fast) to a clean, quiet room with everything we needed. Spent Nov.12 there after arriving on an 8 p.m. flight into La Guardia. Shuttle was there to pick us up within 10 minutes for transfer to hotel. Excellent restaurant. Breakfast buffet on Sat. morning was bountiful at a good price. Bellmen very helpful. Shuttle for $5.00 into Times Square was a great bargain. Super room, friendly staff. We hated to leave.

Our room was okay; it seemed damp and I could definitely smell the fumes from the airplances especially in the morning. I was surprised at how worn the whole hotel seemed. I think it could use a makeover. The breakfast buffet left a lot to be desired and was overpriced. Go to the Jackson Hole Diner instead, just down Ditmars Blvd. It's fantastic. Staff was okay. They provided good directions for getting in and out of Manhattan, but the bellhop gave us wrong directions to Brooklyn. Buy maps in the hotel's gift shop instead.

I was extremely pleased with this hotel. The rooms were relatively large and clean. There is a restaurant in the hotel that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food there is pretty good. There is room service, but for dinner only. I did not eat breakfast there, but a breakfast buffet as well as an a la carte breakfast menu are available in the restaurant. We spent four nights at this hotel. Most enjoyable. Excellent rooms and SUPER staff. Plan to return in October.

Spent one night at the Courtyard near the Laguardia Airport because I had an early flight. Checkin was easy and fast: they even asked me if I needed a wake up call and set it up for me at check in: a nice touch. The room was HUGE, clean, and very very quiet. However almost all the "little things" needed to be replaced: the coffee maker lid was broken and coffee spilled as it brewed. The alarm clock was not settable, one of the electric outlets had burn marks around it. Since it's "the little things that count" I was disappointed overall.

Worst experience I ever had with a Marriott. Hotel Shuttle ran very late. Check in took forever because the clerk was socializing with someone on the phone. Was told I could not order room service in the daytime because it was a union property. Room was damp and dirty. High Speed Internet Access crashed 4 times in 20 minutes. Food was ok but service was slow and horrible. Would recommend staying at other area hotels for less money.

We spent one night at the LaGuardia Courtyard mainly due to close location to Shea Stadium. We were very disappointed with the hotel. The room was musty smelling and everything was damp feeling. The desk clerks and porters were unfriendly and not helpful. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
