Just returned from a holoiday at the St George.Weather was not too bad for time of year.Used the outdoor pool once, too cold, but indoor pool was excellent. The staff, from maids to waitresses, waiters, reception staff and others ,were all polite and could not do enough for us.We were on the all inclusive tariff, and have returned to earth being a little heavier. The choice of food in the dining rooms was enormous and plentyful. The drinks that were provided on the all inclusive tarrif were good from beer to cocktails, orange juice etc.Entertainment on an evening was varied and no doubt will be more varied as the season progresses.

Be warned, this is a long review, but hopefully will help! As for the reviewer below, I am not sure they went to the same hotel. Unless you are an all inclusive, nothing is free (even then you have paid for your so called 'free' drinks. Why would you get a free drink with a meal voucher? Anyway, I got married this year at the St George Chapel next to the hotel, so, although a little biased as the St George treated us particularly well, I have to say that the hotel is superb. Yes, some areas of the hotel could do with a little sprucing up, corridors etc, and the bathrooms are a little 'tired', but any negatives are made up by so many other things you have access to when you are there. The rooms are a decent size, some balconies are small, but still useable, Most have decent views of either the sea or of the pool or gardens. We booked through Thomson, who have this as a 5 T hotel, the hotels official rating is 4 star, and although some people have commented that it doesn't deserve this rating, I feel it is fair. When you arrive in the reception, there is a certain 'wow' factor, the marble floor, the chandalier, the 'piano bar', the water feature on the lower level all goes a long way to impress, even after a long day travelling. We went half board, and felt this was enough. They do give you the option of changing your evening meal for lunch at the Sunset Restaurant near the pool, which is convenient for when you like to explore other restaurants in the evenings. The pool is superb, with pool bar and enough sun loungers for all. The Entertainment staff work their socks off and do enough for people during the day, but don't push you if you just want to relax. Around the pool, there is a waitress service too, although you can swim up to the pool bar, which is a great feature. The small beach is nice, although, the shingle to get to the sea is a little hard on the toes! It is quite rocky, so may not be suitable for the less able as most people use the walkway over the rocks to get to the sea. The sea is generally calm, but this is helped by the breakwater. The variety of food at mealtimes is amazing. I cannot understand anyone who says there was no choice, it is superb. Breakfast buffet - Fruit, yogurt, cereal, toast, fried eggs made to order, pancakes, all aspects of the 'full English' if that is what you want. Coffee, tea and fruit juices are also plentiful. The only issue was the fact that at busy times, the tables weren't cleared that quickly. But we just found a free table and set ourselves up. If you change your evening meal for lunch, there is a standard menu at the Sunset Restaurant, you choose from that menu and all you pay for is drinks (half board option). The Evening buffet is amazing, choice of soup of the day, variety of salads, several meat options, a carvery and variety of potatoes, rice etc. There is also a good selection of desserts, cakes, ice cream etc. There is a waiter service to take drinks orders. You can pay cash or add it to the room bill for payment at the end of the stay. A short walk from the hotel reception is the local bus stops., head to the traffic lights and turn left by the Jaspers Cafe/Restaurant and J&R Supermarket (there is also a small shop within the hotel near reception) The stop on the opposite side of the road by Pepperoni Pizza Restaurant is the stop for travel towards Paphos, the stop by the Quad Bike hire is for travel towards Coral Bay. Irrelevant of how many stops on the bus, the price is 1.50Euro for adults and I think 1Euro for children. Paphos harbour is nice, lots of restaurants and gift shops and boat trips to several places. Buses 10 & 15 go to the Harbour and the other way to Coral Bay. Coral Bay is good with two nice beaches. If you stay on the bus until it stops in a large car park near the Corallia Hotel and Apartments, this is meant to the nicer of the two beaches, plenty of sun loungers at around 6 Euros for 2 and a parasol. The bus stop to the other beach is a couple of stops outside the main strip of shops/bars. We had a night in Coral Bay and ended up in the Coral Sunset bar on a Friday, where there is an Elvis act - he plays it for laughs, but we haven't laughed so much in ages (he also did a show at the St George, but not sure if this is a regular thing for him). As a wedding couple, we do get certain extras, (part of the wedding package) this includes time in the spa, a 10% food/drink discount card and we did get an a la carte meal one evening, we were also lucky enough to get a suite for one evening, which was lovely. I would recommend anyone looking for a wedding venue, the St George Chapel - within the grounds. Lovely place, looks much bigger than it actually is - it seats 24 with extras standing. (It was also the venue for the GMTV wedding in 2004) We booked the wedding through Thomson and their wedding planners were superb. They tell you what to bring with you - full birth certificates, witness passport details and many other things and then arrange the meeting at the Town Hall to collect the licence, then meeting the vicar etc. Nothing seemed too much for them, organising the photographer and the entertainment. All in all, a great time was had by us and our guests, so much so, we have booked to go back for our first anniversary next September.

This was such a disapointing holiday. The hotel staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful they were abrupt and the bar staff were impatient and dismissive. The room was dirty, the bath had a yellow tinge, the bedsheets were old and worn. The food made us feel ill. There was no variety and we were poorly every day. My husband ordered spaghetti bolognaise with a voucher we had for a meal and when he received the food there was no meat just spaghetti. The voucher did not entitle us to a free drink, nothing at the hotel was free, this was such an expensive holiday they charged a fortune at the bar and everything else was very expensive. The entertainment was awful and annoying. There is nothing good I can say about this holiday, even thinking about it now makes me cringe.I shudder when I remember the staff, I cant believe they get away with being so rude, they have left me very angry. We will never return.

I found the St. George to be warm, friendly and very good value for money. In the two weeks we stayed there we never had one issue. The food was fantastic and all the staff made our stay a wonderful experience. Special thanks to Jana, one of the drinks servers who made our evenings very enjoyable, with her attentative service. Anybody not enjoy this hotel must be nuts.
Would I go back to the St. George? Give me a plane ticket now!

Booked platinum holiday with Thomson, spoilt slightly by the flights,Thomson have acquired First Choice and use their aircraft to Paphos, worst cramped seating we have ever experienced,OK for a short flight but not 5 hours.
Hotel great, service excellent, food OK,bus to Paphos harbour only 1.50 euros and every 10-15 minutes, only down side, noisy air conditioning and security pretty poor, locals used to wander in to use the pool and only one security man on the whole site, seemed reluctant to move them on

Went Thomson Platinum. Staff were superb and helpfull, Food and Room were excellent apart from the air-conditioning being noisy. However..the loudness of ALL the entertainment was more than was needed eg at one point we could hear the same ol' thumping and music from the outside area, the music from the lounge and the music from the beach bar all at the same time - and we were in our room with the doors shut! The entertainment was poor and whatever happened to the Platinum Lounge?? - it was only open once and that was for the Thomson Rep. to give us info. about our departure!
The Hotel needs to be congratulated on its cleanliness and the availability of sunbeds and shades - more than enough to go around and well laid out.

The Hotel was kept verty clean, and the staff were very pleasant.
However the noise was terrible from the entertainment centre below all bedrooms, and it went on until 11.30pm.
The swimming pool was over run with air beds for adults,
There is no pool attendant.
If you get up at 6.30-7am, you will be able to get a lounger and shade.
I would not wish to go to this Hotel again, and I think we should have been told the the people from the apartments next door were useing all our facilities.
I would say this hotel should be advertised as 3 star.

This hotel is supposed to be a Thomson Platinum, it is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in.
Beware, if you are vegetarian this hotel cannot cater for you and the staff could not care less. The response was to shrug their shoulders and say tough. We paid £2,000 for a 14 night holiday and then had to spend extra to supplement the inadequate food.
Would definitely not go back.

We have just returned from a week at this hotel. We had upgraded to a larger room, which was very basic, certainly not a 5* only 3*, although we did have a sea view - just and were in the room on the reception floor but also next to the Premier Club, so early nights were not an option, until the Music stopped. The food was plentiful in the evening, but very bland and needed salt (I don't use salt for cooking or sprinkling usually). Breakfast was also poor. If you are reading this are you one of those people who come down for breakfast, go to the bread bar, pick up bread squeeze it and put it back. I sat for half an hour, watching people do this, I only hoped they had washed their hands. Also staff hand you glasses by holding the top of the glass not the bottom, after handling money and wiping tables. Always use a straw!! Our room had a leaky bathroom which was fixed after a complaint, but the floor was never washed in the week we were there. The bed had no valance and you could see the mattress and the threads hanging off the bed. The flat screen TV was on the wall with wires leading down the wall, just looked as though it had been put there as an afterthought. The fridge was old and just standing there, but it did work. The air con did not work. The balcony was not safe for children, (although we have none). The grounds were clean and the hotel facilities too. The beach was mixed with rubble and sand. There was no where to go and you are a captive audience. Luckily the weather was kind and we hired a car, to get out and about. The A La Carte restaurant, had to be booked at least 24 hr in advance, and you had to choose your menu when you booked?!! Surely, this is the reason for A La Carte!! Really pleased the weather was kind, as I think I would have been very upset to spend a week there with poor weather. I did visit the Spa and the treatment I had there was very relaxing, but very expensive. The exchange rate was only 1.12 to the £. Like the other comments, I will choose GOLD next time.

Went to St Georges Hotel in Febuary, most of hotel very nice, also staff very nice ,Qwerty travel , are doing a deal on this hotel at the moment they describe the bedrooms as elegant, the bedroom are far from elegant, the carpet was dirty , and all worn next to patio door,it needs a update
