Comments:  The Hotel was kept verty clean, and the staff were very pleasant.
However the noise was terrible from the entertainment centre below all bedrooms, and it went on until 11.30pm.
The swimming pool was over run with air beds for adults,
There is no pool attendant.
If you get up at 6.30-7am, you will be able to get a lounger and shade.
I would not wish to go to this Hotel again, and I think we should have been told the the people from the apartments next door were useing all our facilities.
I would say this hotel should be advertised as 3 star.

Comments:  We have just returned from a week at this hotel. We had upgraded to a larger room, which was very basic, certainly not a 5* only 3*, although we did have a sea view - just and were in the room on the reception floor but also next to the Premier Club, so early nights were not an option, until the Music stopped. The food was plentiful in the evening, but very bland and needed salt (I don't use salt for cooking or sprinkling usually). Breakfast was also poor. If you are reading this are you one of those people who come down for breakfast, go to the bread bar, pick up bread squeeze it and put it back. I sat for half an hour, watching people do this, I only hoped they had washed their hands. Also staff hand you glasses by holding the top of the glass not the bottom, after handling money and wiping tables. Always use a straw!! Our room had a leaky bathroom which was fixed after a complaint, but the floor was never washed in the week we were there. The bed had no valance and you could see the mattress and the threads hanging off the bed. The flat screen TV was on the wall with wires leading down the wall, just looked as though it had been put there as an afterthought. The fridge was old and just standing there, but it did work. The air con did not work. The balcony was not safe for children, (although we have none). The grounds were clean and the hotel facilities too. The beach was mixed with rubble and sand. There was no where to go and you are a captive audience. Luckily the weather was kind and we hired a car, to get out and about. The A La Carte restaurant, had to be booked at least 24 hr in advance, and you had to choose your menu when you booked?!! Surely, this is the reason for A La Carte!! Really pleased the weather was kind, as I think I would have been very upset to spend a week there with poor weather. I did visit the Spa and the treatment I had there was very relaxing, but very expensive. The exchange rate was only 1.12 to the £. Like the other comments, I will choose GOLD next time.

Comments:  Have visited this hotel in March 2007. The hotel embarked on a refurbishment plan and it has certainly improved the hotel. The bedrooms have all been upgraded with new beds, flat screen tv's and fridges. They have also installed a new aqua pool which give a fabulous relaxing treatment. There is also a steam room and sauna and the treatment rooms are so relaxing you could stay there for hours. The furniture in the restaurant, bar areas, sun beds have been replaced and this with the improvements in the decor make it a place to go. We were welcomed by staff who remembered us from last year and throroughly enjoyed the food, entertainment and will definitely return.
Food is good, staff very friendly and the place is clean. All you need now is sun!

Comments:  I've just come back from the St George Hotel, Paphos. I went there to get married at St George's Chapel next to the hotel. We had a wonderful time, the staff at the St George were so helpful, polite, and made you feel very special.

We had such a good time at the St George we are looking to book up for next year. They are going to be renovating the St George from Dec 07 - Mar 08. We thought it was great as it was but I’m looking forward to see it next year.

If you looking for a relaxing holiday I would definitely recommend any one to go to this hotel.

Comments:  This hotel is supposed to be a Thomson Platinum, it is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in.

Beware, if you are vegetarian this hotel cannot cater for you and the staff could not care less. The response was to shrug their shoulders and say tough. We paid £2,000 for a 14 night holiday and then had to spend extra to supplement the inadequate food.

Would definitely not go back.

Comments:  The hotel was lovely really clean and the pool and beach was great! The food was amazing so much to chose from.

The only thing is it is about 7 Cypriots to the nearest clubs! And into Paphos itself. Or you can get the local bus but it can take upto 1 hour to Paphos harbour. The taxis are really reliable and trusting.

The entertainment at the hotel at night and in day was good, the best was the hypnotist.

O and of course the beach party. The only thing was it was more for adults. The hotel is mainly focused on couples mainly older!

I would recommend going to Bar Street for a true night out you will never forget!! The Rainbow club is open till 6!!!

The receptionists and maids were also lovely the only thing is that they come to clean your room at 9.30 and I personally was still in bed with a hangover!!

But you can request they come later. You can also get a spare room key for all you dirty stop outs!!

My overall rating is 9 but only because of the location!

Comments:  We returned to the George this year for the third time and found it up to the usual standard - that is excellent. We had a good room on the first floor, overlooking the pool with the sea beyond. The sun was on the balcony for most of the day.

The food in the self selection restaurant was great with an enormous choice. In January the hotel was by no means fully occupied - sufficient to say that we experienced excellent service in every way.

Although two miles from the centre of Paphos we found that buses ran every ten minutes from the main road, two hundred yards away. (Cost 90p (Cyprus) but the hotel has so many facilities (including own small beach) we spent a lot of the time relaxing there. In the opposite direction Coral Bay has a delightful and long beach with facilities.

There had been high winds in the UK while we were away - consequently the return flight was delayed 8 hours. However Thompson arranged for us to stay on at the hotel and provided us with full meals at no extra cost.

Comments:  My wife and I spent one week at the St.George Hotel (just outside of Paphos).

We had a lovely time, helped by the pleasantly warm and sunny weather.

This hotel is in the Thomson Platinum brochure and deserves its place. The hotel itself, the food, the gardens and the staff were all excellent whilst the rooms were comfortable with king size beds and quality furnishings.

There was good quality live entertainment on in at least one of the bars every evening.

The church within the grounds of the hotel (from where it gets its name) is well worth a visit and is why weddings are so popular there in the summer months.

Bath robes, a bowl of fresh fruit and a bottle of local wine were in the room on our arrival - a nice welcoming touch.

Probably the only slight downside to the hotel is the location. It is a bit secluded and I can see why that may deter some people but for us it was ideal.

We hired a car for the week, so visited many of the local attractions and also enjoyed many secluded coastal walks.

If you want a quiet, away-from-it-all holiday in a quality hotel then this is the place for you.

Comments:  We spent a week in the St George as a Pearl Wedding present from our family.

It was fantastic! A bottle of 'champagne' was sent to our door thanks to the wonderful Rep Marie. She was fantastic and an asset to Thomsons!

Although quiet at this time of year the weather was good. The food was excellent, staff excellent overall 10 out of 10 in our books!

The strictly spectacular show was very good but a bit pricey.

Entertainment in the hotel was varied and the staff were very helpful.

We would definitely go back here.

Comments:  Is this really a Thomson Platinum hotel? After having been on several Thomson Gold holidays and thoroughly enjoying them we were really looking forward to this Thomson Platinum hotel. How can Thomson have graded this hotel a Platinum? It was worse than any of the Gold hotels we have stayed in and has led us to question Thomson's grading.

The hotel itself was clean and the hotel and bar staff were very friendly.

The rooms looked as though they had recently been refurbished, but they had forgotten about the bathrooms as they desperately needed a re-fit - having chipped tiles and moudly surfaces.

We expected the hotel would be busy at it was peak season, but you had no chance of getting a bed around the pool unless you got up at 6am and beat everybody else in the race to put towels out! Despite all notices not to reserve beds, of course it was happening and nobody was stopping this.

The beach area had recently been modernized and was very nice with a little bar and a pool bar. As this is where we ended up most days because we couldn’t get around the pool area, we found this really quite a nice area of the hotel.

The evening entertainment became a bit of a joke, we were at the point of cringing at some of the acts!

We were looking for somewhere to hold our wedding the following year, and decided that this definitely isn’t the place for a wedding and we wouldn’t go back.

Comments:  My husband, sister and her husband have visited the George on a few occasions and we cannot say anything bad about it at all.

The location is quiet but you are very well looked after by all. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff; they are very friendly and helpful.

The evening meals are varied but always nice with a good selection of meats, salads etc.

Breakfast is eaten outside with a great choice of food to suit all nationalities.

Rooms are well kept with a kettle and tea making facilities.

You can see the most amazing sun sets on an evening... there are a few bars and restaurants nearby or if you want to go into the town there is a bus stop just at the top of the road.

You can also hire bikes locally if you want to see the sights at your own pace.

We would recommend the hotel to any of our friends and family.

Comments:  The St George hotel NEAR Paphos is actually in Chloracas outside the town of Paphos by about 6km and 250yds off the main road between Coral Bay and Paphos all there is there are a couple of restaurants on the main road and a handful of small shops described as 'supermarkets' which in fact sell practically everything
In front of hotel is what can only be described as a wasteland with a large advertising sign.

There is picturesque Church adjacent to the hotel where weddings are celebrated nearly every day, the receptions are held in the St George sometimes as many as 3 in a day, usually a couple of hours apart! bride, groom and most of the guests stay in the hotel, so on the wedding day the reception lounge are taken up with the wedding party, which is a bit of a pain if you like a quiet read in the lounge.

The food is 'Greek/English with several choices. The rooms are clean BUT BASIC & plain (this is supposed to be Platinum!!) you do get fruit and wine on arrival, but the fridge-cannot be called a fridge, it does not keep water cold, tea/coffee facilities in room. teabags replenished every day.

There is a large pool ,but beds are reserved by some guests even though asked not to, staff do not 'enforce' rule so difficult to get around pool unless you go down VERY early in the mornings, there are beds on a grass area down toward the beach which is small, and sea often rough -watch the children!- On the up the staff cannot be faulted, they fall over themselves to help and serve you.

Beware of opticians in Pathos do not believe their signs that they GOC members, -I was given a bogus GOC registration number by one of them based on the sea front. call their bluff and ask to see the certificates they advertise outside! We were advised by the rep's at welcome meeting that the prices were half of UK prices - they are not after you take into consideration the exchange rate!

Finally-this was the first time we had been "Platinum" so if this is typical Platinum it's 'Gold' for us in future.

Comments:  11 Days half board with Thompson Platinum, absolutely fantastic holiday! All boxes ticked! Everything about the hotel was wonderful.

Rooms were very nice, wine and fruit on arrival, fridge in the room, plus tea and coffee making facilities a nice touch. Beach towels provided so you don’t have to take your own. Food was excellent! Remember long trousers for the men for evening dinner.

Entertainment was really good and varied. Waiter service around the pool so you don’t even need to walk to the bar. Plenty of activities to do during the day, or if you want just lie in the sun. Staff very helpful and friendly. Just a perfect holiday.

Comments:  This hotel is fantastic! The staff are all very friendly, the food was great ( a different and vast choice daily) the rooms are nice ( our suite was beautiful ) They even have a scuba diving centre in the hotel grounds.

When we were there it was my parents wedding anniversary and my mums birthday, I asked at reception if I could buy some champagne and have it sent up to the room, they said this was no problem and there would be no charge for it ( free fizzy wine! ) I can honestly say that the St George is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in! (So far).

Comments:  This hotel is only available to Thomson Platinum bookings so we knew we were in for a better class of package holiday before we even left the airport!

The hotel is about halfway between Coral Bay and Paphos Harbour and has its own private beach, although the sea is very rough and there’s no official lifeguard.

The hotel staff are all amazing and really helpful, we were able to move rooms without any fuss whatsoever and even got a free bottle of champagne!

The rooms are spacious and well equipped, all have aircon and a fridge. We had a fantastic double sized balcony with an amazing sea view.

We ate in the main restaurant every evening, where there was a choice of 5-6 buffet options every night. We stayed for 2 weeks and I can't remember a single repeat of a meal on the menu. The salads were very varied and filling and the deserts were out of this world. Our waiter Andreas treated us like royalty (well we were on our honeymoon!) and there were a few complimentary bottles of wine.

The hotel has 2 pools and the outdoor one has a swim up pool bar so you can float on your lilo sipping a cool Mai-Tai.

There are hundreds of sunloungers; around the pool, on the lawns and also on the beach and there is waiter service in all these areas. They even have a branch of Pizza Express!

All in all this holiday was perfect, I’ve docked a point due to us having to change rooms, but other than that it was the best holiday I’ve ever had.
