mayfair squat
from DERKIMOFLOORMAN
I visited Hotel with direct holidays !! with my husband and 3 children. After a 4 hour delay we arrived at 03.30 hrs and were directed outside hotel to seperate annex i was absoultely horrified on entering the room it looked like a squat !!!! so unbelievably basic my children were all intears we had never stayed in such poor accomadation to get them to sleep we had to leave lights on!!! the next morning i went to reception and after alot of hassle we were given 2 rooms in main hotel which were much better ts down but still rather basic !!! Pool area was ok only bad thing was the rat !!!!!! swimming in the pool when quests went to reception to complain they sent maintenance man who fished rat out of pool nd proceeded to batter it to death at side of pool in full view of all sunbathers and children pool area ant infested no attempt was made to put ant repellent down. Reception area was very shabby not somewhere you would want to sit !!! area outside hotel very run down in a dirty residential area not very nice to walk through at night. The perfect end to our holiday was a 20 hour delay !!! my advice is DONT GO THERE EVER !!! might as well stay at home and keep your money in bank
loved this complex

we went to these apts for the first time in september .they were recommended to us but we were still a bit wary. we need not have worried. this is a lovely complex . it has six swimming pools a full daytime and evening entertainment programme . the apts are very clean and it has air conditioning right through. the staff are very helpfull and the entertainment team are excellent . the only draw back is that it is a bit of a walk to the front. but there are buses every fifteen minutes. i would totally reccomend anyone to stay at these apts . a1
run down !!!!!!!

i visited this hotel with my family,my sister and her family august 2007.on booking holiday i requested a family room in the main hotel NOT the seperate annex we paid £700 for my 14 yr old daughter and also an extra £200 for a family room when we arrived at 2 am we were directed outside to the annex which i would describe as no better than a squat. I pointed out we were staying in main hotel i was told to go to bed !! The next morning i went to see reception and was allocated a room in the main hotel this was a normal size room for 4 of us when i pointed out i had paid full price for my daughter and also extra £200 for a family room i was told there were no bigger rooms in the hotel even though i had seen them when cleaners had door open when i offered to show reception staff them they turned there back on me i tried this 3 times but was totally ignored !! therefore we ended up staying in cramped accomadation for 2 weeks !!! The hotel is in a run down area which is quite frightening at night, Rooms are very basic , balcony was very cramped with 2 people on .Entertainment team were very young and unprofessional. The only good thing was very good restaurant ,my advice is dont go to this run down hovel worst hotel i have ever visited total waste of money !!!!!!!!111
Run Down!!!!!
from DubaiBetsy
We have just arrived back from Cyprus...we arrived at the Hotel Mayfair early in the morning, we booked it ourselves so we had to find the hotel...as other people have said in their reviews the hotel is in a run down area with run down residential homes round it and early in a morning it has lots and lots of eastern european men hangin on the street corners ???? what for or maybe they are waiting for caual work..who knows??? The hotel its self is very run down round the pool areas and the reception has worn out sofas that have seen better days there is people who have mainly booked via Direct Holidays always complaining about the state of their room and like my friends who booked with Direct Holidays ..payed 3000 pound !!!!!!! for 2 weeks in a run down and tired hotel. we payed for a pool view and was given a room over a carpark....which i didnt accept as i took all the emails etc with me they eventually gave us a top floor with pool view. Found some of the reception staff quite rude and not bothered...probably sick of all the complaints??? The rooms in the hotel was to be fair just OK, dull and tired i would call them, but the family rooms were like "SQATS" as my friend was put in one of them...she wouldnt even stay 1 night in them, the outsides of the buildings looked like they were ready to be demolished!! Really and truley terrible!! We didnt see the apartments but apprently they were the worst of the bunch. Food and the resturant was actually very good the chef couldnt do enough... Entertainment was poor the young team tried their best to a dying crowd!!!! We ended up staying in Paphos 4 nights then checked out and went up the coast to Ayai Nappa....much cleaner ,more nicer bars and resturants and we found a beach hotel 4 star spotless with lovley modern bedrooms facing beach and pool for less price than the 3 star (aka 1 star ) Mayfair !!!!! Our advice is if you get a cheap flight to cyprus and then you get a cheap deal with the Hotel Mayfair...then you can probably "RUFF IT"........if you goin to get get charged a stupid price by holiday tours ,,,,then stay away!!!!!!!! unlesss your comfortable with run down bedrooms grotty hotel in a grotty area !!!!!! Never again...not a chance!!!!
Absolutely fabulous holiday!!!

This hotel was brilliant!!! clean, spacious, lovely pool, great location... perfect!!! At the end of the day it's a 3* star hotel.... you pay for a 3* you get a 3*. some people book a 3* hotel and then moan because its not up to the standards of a 5*!!!!!! duh!! I do not have a single fault about this hotel.... rooms are very spacious and clean, free air con, nice living room and kitchen area, separate bedroom which is huge. Pool area is lovely, bar/resturant is brilliant, nice choice of food... local supermarkets only 2 minute walk up the road. Main tourist area which is the paphos harbour is gorgeous and only a 10 minute walk from the hotel, loads of bars, shops, resturants to choose from, and lots of trips to do.... the opposite way when your at the hotel is the old town of paphos which is a 10 minute walk to the old markets etc. Perfect location, lovely staff, clean..... brilliant holiday!!!!! If you are thinking of going to protaras we stayed in the Toxotis Apartments in Perena which were equally as nice!!
What a fun place !

We didn't actually stay in this Hotel, but we visited it most nights for the entertainment, what a great time we had too. The entertainment was absolutely fantastic, what a great bunch. There is daily entertainment for all the family (you just have to have a go at "Lilo wars" ...... with great shows and family entertainment in the evenings. Nearly forgot to say we met the entertainers last year at Kefalos... Hi Leighton & Melanie, so we had to come and visit you at the Mayfair ! We have to add that the Mayfair bar staff were fantastic, running round every night trying to keep up with the bar orders ...... you know what i mean ! Overall this Hotel looked a good place to stay.
Hotel adds bonus to holiday
from Menk
July 8th to 22nd 2007 Myself and 11 friends embarked on our annual holiday and this years destination was Paphos. We've been on holidays before and always felt as though there was something missing. Maybe this was because we was a group of lads aged 18 to 21 who usually went for the cheaper hotel which didnt offer the type of activities and entertainment which the Mayfair Hotel did. Throughout the day activities were on offer for all types of people, whether male or female, old or young there was something for everyone including Aqua aerobics, water polo, volleyball and team games involved in the pools. There was no direct pressure to get involved, which you can often notice at some hotels, and so you could just sit back and enjoy what was happening. We found the food in local restaurants not all that and stayed in one night to try the hotels carvery. I dont think we actually ate anywhere else after this as it was so good. There was plenty on offer for food with special evenings designated for bar/pool side meals where the food was served outside in a buffet style. The evening time really made the holiday for our group. In the past we've had to entertain ourselves but the entertainment laid on at the hotel by entertainment team was fantastic. It was enjoyable to all. Kids parties with games and fun dances which even the adults got involved in including the majority of our group and now we all dance around the songs like 'Ants in your Pants' and the 'Court of King Caracticus'. After the childrens stuff its to the adults, this could be a show based upon a specific genre eg, swing, musicals. Or games involving the adults which just leaves everyone laughing. The staff at the hotel are fantastic, from the reception staff to bar staff to enterainment and then the managers. All spoke decent english which makes it easier to get by. All in all a fantastic holiday enjoyed by everyone. A huge thank you to the entertainment team of Leighton, Melanie, Katie and Paul who always strove to helped make the holiday better each day. Good times Liam Prowse - Team Leader and the rest of the boys.
brilliant!!!

Well what can i say, as soon as we arrived at the hotel in the early hours of monday morning we knew that we had picked a great hotel. The hotel staff are very friendly! Our apartment was spotless! The hotel grounds were clean and there were lots of sunbeds! We went Self Catering but we had dinner at the hotel restaurant on one night and the food was very nice and there is lots of choice. Paphos is a great place to go on holiday, there are lots of places to visit- tomb of the kings, the harbour- which is stunning! and coral bay. I must recommend spending the day on 'Georges Fun Bus' which includes lunch on the beach! It was Brilliant! But don't be fooled, as alot of people are copying the idea and using George's name! The best people to speak to about booking the trip are the guys in the 'Full Moon' pub which is just over the road from the hotel! The 'Black Eagle' which is next door to the Full Moon is a great restaurant and the food there is loveley, we ate there several times during the week. Bar Street is a must if you enjoy clubbing! Bubbles is a good club and your likely to be given free shots on entry! Rainbow is a brilliant club, went there twice during the week, great music! The only thing that was a little incovenient is that the hotel is in a residential area, but it was only a short journey on the bus to coral bay and the harbour and only cost 80c. The taxis were also very reasonable and the 'Mayfair Taxi' office was situated 2 mins walk away from the hotel. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone, as it caters for younger children and adults! I am hoping to go back next year and stay at the Mayfair for 2 weeks because a week is not long enough as there is so much to do!!!
no clearners on sunday
from lovelyg
just got back from a weeks stay at the mayfair.we arrived on saturday afternoon the room was spotless until we open the bathroom door the was human hair in every corner the taps were stained the could of done with a good scrubing.and the cherry on the cake is that when we took a shower after the use of the pool the water did not go down the drain.we didn't complain because we said maybe when the clearner comes she will see it and fix the water and clear the hairs and taps.went to breakfast on sunday morning and them straight off to the pool.came back to the room and saw beds unmade and bathroom still dirty.i went straight to the reception and to my surprise the answer i got is the hotel has No clearners on sunday but if i needed loo papper the can give me a roll.come on guys no clearner on sunday!! how dirty an unhgynic can a hotel be.can you imagine the rest of the hotel or even the kitchens if there is no clearners on sundays. i defintely will not saty there again and with the haet in Cyprus you have to clean up every day to avoid germs.
Cant fault anything!!

I dont know where to start i cannot fault this holiday at all!! We had a fantastic time!! Paphos itself is lovely, there is plenty near the hotel and the harbour is beautiful! ! We visited the best chinese restaurant weve ever been too and you cant visit cyprus without takng a trip to the fassouri waterpark it was fantastic fun!! The hotel itself is lovely looking it is very well maintained and always spotlessly clean. The staff are extremely friendly, very welcoming and always happy to help. I have never seen such a wide variety of great food offered at a hotel. The snack menu was offered pretty much all day between about 10am and 6pm. They are very generous with their snacks they consisted of Sirloin steaks, pork kebabs, steak sandwiches, salads, toasted sandwiches, Huge jacket potatoes!! They were very fairly priced and even better if your all inclusive!! That was just the snacks imagine having breakfast and dinner too they were just as great. BUT............ Above all the entertainment team really made our holiday, for us the entertainment is very important and it was exceptionally good. The entertainers were all extremely friendly and made you feel comfortable getting involved. There were activities for everybody no matter what age you are with a very wide range of things to do all day every day and during the evening. They were all very well planned and thoroughly enjoyable!! We would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely go back. Dont miss an opportunity to go there if you get it!!
I am in shock to still find raving reviews! On arrival we were given room key and pointed in direction of room. Enter room it was dark shabby, over looked the back of the bowling alley and dirty lane,[I know view isnt important to some, however, I rise early and spend time... more
