VERY BAD BEHAVIOR FROM THE RECEPTION STUFF. when i ask why we don't have the facility that we ask for in our room they told me that this is the room and if i want i can leave. unfortunately for me i couldn't leave.
the ROOM WAS DIRTY, you could write your name in dust. we were stayed for two days and NO ONE CAME TO CLEAN THE ROOM AND CHANCE OUR TOWELS. the BREAKFAST was TERRIBLE; ham and cheese were NOT FRESH, the tables in the restaurant was very dirty and the dinning room was SMELL VERY BAD.
the POOL was small and DIRTY , you couldn't swim and also you couldn't fine any sunbed or an umbrella because there were not enough.
LAST BUT NOT LIST LEAST during the night you COULDN'T SLEEP because same poeple where yelling very loud until 4oclock and no one from the reception say anything to them.

The location is not the best.I wish the Rep told us how easy it is to bus it around the Harbour and to Coral Bay.The food is excellent,I went h/b and ate very healthy all week. The Entertainment consists of Bingo and participation games till late, even the kids games went on late in sept/oct.Although the song and dance acts in the week are excellent. The staff work very hard to please. You can not go up to the bar for a drink. The staff will serve your table with a smile. If you book trips out,the coach will pick you up just outside. This hotel seems to attract the football shirt wearing brigade you see at Butlins.First couple of days i felt trapped watching the reps pants on your head game. We walked over busy roads down to the Harbour. The area is beautiful tainted by tacky tourism.Brit pubs, Tina Turner acts, and the X factor on TV in the bars.I would go to the Mayfair again for the service and the good food.Because eating and drinking out is very expensive.

i have just got back on the 19th july 2010. myself and two girlfriends stayed at the mayfair hotel in paphos as we went to cyprus for a wedding. we were made to feel very welcome at the hotel by all the staff especially andreas the manager who was very attentive to the guests and extremely hard working. the hotel was fine as was our room which has everything you needed.we went half board and the food was lovely, plenty of variety. the pool was clean. entertainment was ok. there was kids clubs available if you had children with you. i would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to my friends. it wasnt right next to the beach but the buses are quite frequent and only cost 1 euro. taxis are a bit expensive though.
- Advice: enjoyable holiday, plenty to do, or just relax by the pool if you prefer

Went May 2010 half term. Staff really friendly, entertainment staff brill with the children. Big choice in the food and v clean rooms. 15 min walk to harbour. If you are going on a boat trip see Winston for the day trip on the wave runner ans tell him the group who you gave a lift to the beach from Portsmouth) recommended you.

Having payed a lot of money for this 2 bed apartment and after checking in and directed to our room we were very dissapointed, 1st tap head came off in my hand, 2nd the water then exploded all over me, then i went to bathroom to freshen up i filled sink up to have a shave turned around to find all the water had dissappeared and my feet were now wet, not a good start, contacted reception who sent maintenance man who informed me the faults i have described have been like that for a week and would take a couple of days to sort and offered us a swap,
why put us there in the first place.??????
then we get our second room with a view of paphos slums.. derelict cars, run down buildings, strange men sitting on the corners day and night, maybe the strip club on our street may have something to do with that,,
at night the above mentioned turned into the local meeting spot with cars coming and going,
my wife could not go out to the supermarket alone...
glad we didnt go all inclusive although people i spoke to said the food was good, but the service from the bar staff was terribly slow so no chance of getting drunk, my 1st experience was ordered drink waited 25 mins got drinks paid then waited 20 mins for change by this time needed another drink very poor,
There is clearly a message in every room telling you not to put youre towels on the provided sunbeds as they will be removed by the hotel management, this rule was never endorsed so you need to be around the pool by 7.30 in the morning to put you're towels down to ensure a good spot..maids did leave the rooms clean every day,so all in all we did enjoy our holiday, the pool grounds were good, but the self catering apartments were very poor!!
i dont think i or other members of my family will be staying there again,
we went to paphos for a wedding and had other members of our family stopping at different hotels to ours which we did visit in our 11 night stop and we were gutted to find out they were staying in luxury and not paying any more than us, we never invited them to see our hotel to avoid embarrassment..........
paphos has a lot to offer so look carefully before booking youre stay,
If you do book the mayfair you will find a short cut to the sea front passing the friends bar well worth a visit do a lovely breakfeast for €1.50 and tea for two on the front does good food,
One good thing did come out of staying at the mayfair,,
i got a great tan or was that the great cyprus climate.?

paid £900 for 4 nights, could have burst into tears on arrival! have never been in such a dump of a room in my life, woz offered an upgrade,150euro,s extra, got shown the room+it woz a bigger dump than we were in!bloody cheek!! stayed in the room we were in,lookin over the back of the hotel, into the the fithy back entrance,s of shops. only good thing was,the bedding was clean, but well worn. had to hold the wall when using the toilet,as the toilet bowl moved when you sat on it!stray cats ran up+down the corridors all night, trying to sneak into your room,or fighting, complete nightmare!Restaurant basic, staff not helpful at all.Only good thing was,the pool area was really nice,i don,t have kids, but must admit, the poolside entertainers were fantastic. It was our 1st time in cyprus, and we loved the place, will defo go back, but DEFO NOT to that hellhole!Have been going abroad twice a yr for the last 12yrs, and it,s the 1st time i have ever went into the travel agents to complain.

Just come back from spending 2 weeks at this hotel and apartments-dissapointing!. On arriving at the complex with a young child was shocked to find out we had been allocated a top floor (4thfloor) apartment even after requesting low floor apartment at time of booking. Staff did there best to find us another but due to it been almost fully booked was offered a room with no self catering facalities or a room with a balcony directly onto a road!
Rooms were very grubby as were the bedding and towels. Had to shower holding the shower attachment as kept falling off the wall! Had to fix toilet oursleves as did not flush and leaked all over the bathroom floor.
Food preperation surfaces were covered in hundreds of crawling creatures as were the wardrobes, bed and chairs in living area. Woke up most mornings itching and covered in bites.
Beds were only changed once and was amazed to watch the cleaner mopping the floor with smelly filthy water that must have already mopped 20 other apartments.
Be aware if you want a sunbed round the pool be prepared to get up early as every morning towels were on all the beds but no people on them!
Area surrounding was very quiet and not a place to walk around alone. Nice harbour tho about 20 mins walk away, plenty of restuarants, bars and shops.

Have just come back from paphos and stayed at the mayfair, and have no complaints.
We stayed all inclusive and when we got to our room we were given a bottle of wine, 2 bottles of water, fruit and coffee making facilities.
The food was brilliant, plenty of choice and different every night. Snacks all through the day so even if you miss breakfast there is food all day.
The entertainers are excellent and work so hard to keep both kids and adults happy.
The staff cannnot do enough for you they are brilliant.
The hotel is situated in a residentail area which isnt a problem its about 15mins walk to the harbour and main part of paphos where there are beaches, bars and resturants or there are buses just outside the hotel for no more the 1.50 euro. Taxis around paphos are no more than 8 euros either. we stayed here to go to a wedding which was in one of the bigger 4star hotels and i can honestly say we had just as good facitlies as they did.
I would recomend this hotel for good value for money and suitable for all ages i am 20 and my partner is 27 but people of all ages stayed here. A BIG THUMBS UP FOR US!!!

on entering the complex all seemed ok. that is until you get hit by the ciggerate smoke. the hotel staff were pleasent and really did try to make our stay enjoyable wich is more than i can say for the rep laura who really just couldnt be bothered.the rooms was behind a bowling alley and to get to them you had to walk through the main bar area . the first 3 nights we could smell the sewers , on the way to dinner. the food was basic but very nice, the staff in the restraurant were very nice and if you had hungry kids this was perfect as it was a buffet style menue, the temp in september was amazingly hot, the pools were not up scratch. run down and in need of repair my son cut his finger in the pool, the hotel staff did there best making sure he was ok, the rep on the other hand was no where to be seen for days and was not interested at all when she was told. the hotel isnt bad, but could be better, the harbour is a lovely place with lots to see, but be warned it takes you 15/20 minetes to get to it walking. the drinks are also very expensive. there are fridges in the apartment but unless you have a medical condition you have to hire them,
- Advice: beautiful harbour, and lots of sight seeing
- Activities: the hop on hop off bus

I needed a break, love Paphos and my 'usual' AI 4* hotel was fully booked (friends had just managed to book there but I was unlucky). So I gave this hotel a try. I travel solo therefore prefer AI as I dont have to feel vulnerable looking for suitable eating places.
well I suppose the hotel it has good and bad points, though sorry the bad outweigh the good considerably.
Good points
-it was easily bookable
-pleasant staff (well most of them)
- choice of pools (its made up of originally 3 different properties)
-Ok food if you like meat and mushrooms
-fridge and kettle in room
-BBC TV on tiny tv in room
-excellent entertainment team who worked their socks off night and day, without being pushy.
Bad points
-hotel is located in the middle of urban nowhere, about 30 mins walk to harbour (20 after finding a shortcut)Couldn't go out after dark - nowhere to to go anyway
-missed the Welcome meeting (stated 'reception' but was in bar), didnt see a rep at all
-rooms shabby, bedding and towels cleanish but degrained, lift didnt work (5th floor!)
-lay in bath and caught sight of toilet rim -ughh - straight to shop to buy buy bleach.
-sink swarming with tiny insects every morning, no ventilation in bathroom
-air con in room so noisy and rattly was like being in the Titanic's engine room
-all inclusive guests are only served one drink at a time, gave up on second night after waiting an hour - went to shop got a couple of cans in and retreated to room balcony. Not the staff's fault they were running round like the proverbial headless chickens most of the time only 2 for the whole bar area.
-All entertainment centred round bar - so you cant escape if you want, unless you vacate the premises, which I did - bus ride down to my friends at my 'usual' hotel
-lot of meat in various guises served for meals, even in the coleslaw and over salads. Poor choice of veg(usually just 2) mushrooms in abundance -soup, sauce, fried, boiled, garlic,. food not very hot or cold as appropriate VERY dodgy with meat/mayonaisse as I have found out before.
-lunchtime buffet non existant - snack bar menu instead.
-no early dinner arrangements for little ones - by 7 pm lots were tired fractious and hungry and screamed for the duration of dinner, resulting in parents losing it as well. no pleasant evening meal experience.
-not the hotel's fault but some guest extremely noisy at night shouting slamming doors -really inconsiderate.
Sorry - I'd definately give this hotel a wide berth even if it was my only choice, not for solo's like me (and I'm quite a happy person!)family / kids orientated.
Spoke to a few guests who had stayed there for a few years running who said this was the last time as standards had dropped.
Overall impression of a running down, understaffed just surviving hotel.
Maddening thing is there were rooms available in my 'usual' place not taken up by holiday companies - WHY??

I am in shock to still find raving reviews! On arrival we were given room key and pointed in direction of room. Enter room it was dark shabby, over looked the back of the bowling alley and dirty lane,[I know view isnt important to some, however, I rise early and spend time on my balcony] more importantly the room was so dirty with hair all over floor, cobwebs and hair growing on the the beside cabinet which I suspect are still there, they were when we left even though I pointed them out. We went to reception to request different room was told to come back tomorrow, so requested cleaner immediatly. Cleaner came, half heartedly swept floor with dirty brush then mopped with a smelly mop leaving room dirty and smelly! Tomorrow came and we were told to come back later in day [by extremely rude receptionist, the same miserable one mentioned in another review] we went back later and got told there were no other rooms. In less than 24 hours the only thing we heard at reception was complaint after complaint and guests in tears [including myself]. They really were not interested. I hadnt been to pool at that point but heard Thomson rep telling them there was algae in bottom pool and to get it sorted. We didnt use the pool up near reception but did use bottom pool. Its the first time I have been in a hotel pool where you cant see your feet, it was murky, there is indeed serious green algae growing in the vents around the edges [all stuff for bad ear infections!]. Never any evidence of pool cleaning, until later in 2nd week after guest was being treated for ear infection and samples were taken, chemicals were poured into pool which made a slight difference. We evicted a huge cockroach from our room and also killed one near the lift (we were in 5408), the remains of the killed cockroach lay for four days, it was swept and mopped around it! Sun beds forget it, they had a no reseveration policy but you had to,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, then they decided to let you reserve from 6.30am, but if you didnt use the bed prior to 10.30am they would remove towels. Basically, there are not enough sunbeds to accommodate so many guests. There was never any cleaning around pool area, I never witnessed the area being hosed down in the two weeks, therefore area was sticky, littered with plastic cups, ciggarette butts and other debris. Food, hmmmmm first impressions good, on first evening, after that it went down hill. Whilst there was choice it was minimal, it was samey, had very little flavour. Breakfast was ok with a vaired choice. Lunch was a total joke - what adult wants to eat chips and dried up fish fingers? There was an oder service available from 10am to 12noon which had a better option, however, half way through our second week this was withdrawn by the chef because too many orders were being placed by guests at 11.45 - I wonder why. Well why, because like us people were ordering it because they knew lunch was going to be so awful come 12 noon. Entertainment, yes the team worked hard, it wasnt brilliant, I have seen better, and I have seen worse. Service, not good, how difficult is it to fill and order of one red wine one white wine and two glasses of water at dinner? One bar tender in the evening, to serve 700 guest .................... yes you will wait for your drinks and they will only let you order one at a time! Towels were changed frequently, however, our bed linen didnt get changed for over a week................. The staff work very hard and I dont want to blame them for the bad service it has to be down to management! What a lot of people are not aware of is the hotel changed hands this year, and previous owner took most of his staff including the chef with him! You are some distance from the harbour and the beach, however, bus service is good as mentioned previously. Our saving grace, we hired a car for 5 days to get away.............We have stayed in hotels ranging from 2 to 5 star and have never been so disappointed with a hotel as much as we were in this one. There is no atmosphere, and I heard a number of disgruntled guest relating it to Butlins in the sun, personally I feel that is an insult to Butlins............................ You can read what you want into my review and if you want to drink drink and drink, but wait for your drinks, and swim in dirty pools then go for it, if you want lunch which (served in the bar area not dining room, and exposed to heat for hours) consists of left overs from last nights dinner, go for it................... However, if you choose to ignore what I have said, then go for it, just dont say you were not warned!
