Will definately visit here again, a real oasis

Aug 2011, Ian, Jo, 'n the kids

You've seen all the reviews and they're true, Andreas and his team are the best. The place is a gem too. Apartments have a well stocked kitchen, free aircon in both rooms (1 bed apt), shower and bath, free titbits like soaps, washing up liquid and cloths, wine, honey etc. The pool was busy (August) but they came and offered more sunbeds and frozen towell wipes, there is a shower and a kiddie pool plus an indoor pool which was welcomingly cool to temper the high 30's heat. The place was very clean and civilised with no noisy youths dive bombing the water like we have seen at other places. We couldn't muster enough energy to use the gym but one or two did. There is a games room with table tennis, lots of arcade games and a couple of pool tables to keep the kids happy. We took advantage of the upgrade to half board for 3 days as this worked out at less than 60E for 4 of us per day. Our evening meals usually came to around that so the full breakfast came free! Food quality and choice was superb, we have always been self catering but this place would definately tempt me to go half board or so for at least some of our next holiday. Drinks from the bar are easy to put on the room charge and then clear up at the end of the holiday. The shop is cheaper than the one across the road so we used that for ice creams etc. It is a good 10 min walk to the Harbour area with bars and restaurants along the way so there's always somewhere to stop if you're thirsty. We went to the go-kart race track on the "all day anywhere for 2Euro buses" and for about 18E we got 12 minutes of racing which was actually plenty of time. Overall we had a great time in Paphos and the King Jason was definately the star of the show.

  • Advice: Take on some meals in the offer advertised in the room. It was less than 15E each for brekkie and a great evening meal

We have been visiting paphos as a family for many years now and we have stayed at the king jason several times . we have NEVER been disappointed ! - As soon as you arrive Andreas ,maria and the staff never fail to make you feel welcome whether its your first visit or you are returning friends with a complimentry drink and greeting whilst you check in .
The apartments , pool and bar / restaurant areas are very stylish and spotlessly clean at all times. There are a few resident cats around the complex but they are never a nuisance, dont beg for food and generally do not interfere with your holiday - unless you are a cat lover then its up to you if you would like to interact. The complex itself is set in a quiet residential area with easy access and short walk down to the harbour , bars and restaurants. The onsite amenities make it very easy to satisfy all family members during the day whether its an ice cream or snack from the very well equipt mini market a dip in the refreshing large pool, a workout in the gym or a long cool drink served at your sunbed by very friendly bar staff, there is also a very reasonably priced and generous snack bar menu for your convienience .You are even handed ice cold towels as you sunbathe as a small welcomed relief from the sun a couple of times a day !. There is plenty of sunbeds and parasols and even a lovely terrace if you prefer to be a bit further away from the general splashes and chatter of the pool .We stayed self catering but there is a beautiful breakfast buffet ( hot & cold) that is available for a small charge ,often a great start to the day if heading out to the beach or on a trip which we took advantage of several times! Overall I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment complex to any family or couple visiting cyprus or paphos for the first time or even on a returning trip - you will NOT be disappointed !

Cats!

We recently stayed at the Louis King Apartments. They were very clean and the Manager very friendly. It was very difficult to ever get a drink because the staff were too busy straightening plates up for the following evening meal or cleaning the floors!
There was no mention of cats residing within the grounds and although very cute and well looked after I have an allergy to them and had to visit the emergency chemist on a Sunday which involved getting a taxi so 25 Euros the trip cost us.
Our room was extremely noisey with a service road just outside our door where deliveries took place every morning around 5.30 - 6.00am, following by staff pushing the deliveries down to the hotel on a trolley.
The hotel is a lovely place - but not for us and we won't visit again.

I travelled alone and do not usually do sun, sea etc holidays. However I found this hotel to be excellent and I felt absolutely comfortable from the moment I arrived. Everybody was friendly and very helpful. My apartment was spacious and the pool was lovely. What I loved most was the pool surroundings - you could sit by the pool or retreat to an excellent covered seat and sip your drink it was wonderful. I was self catering but ate the final evening in the hotel restaurant the food was great and I was amazed at how inexpensive it was. The added little touches like a bottle of wine on arrival, a cold towel on hot days around the pool and a pot of local honey on departure. All in all one of the mose relaxing and genuinely enjoyable holidays I have had in recent years. Thanks to all the staff and in particular the Manager who kept things running impeccably. Disappointing - Needs to get its act together

After reading raving reviews about this place, we were very disappointed. Hotel is in a poor, shabby back street with rubbish and building sites. Pool area is nice, but dated and there are no facilities nearby, so you have to walk to buy a drink. Whole hotel is very dated (80s). There has been some upgrades here and there, but overall, the rooms are tired and in need of a spruce up. There was dust and filth everywhere. The cooking facilities were poor - the frying pan was all bent and basically ready for the bin! The beds were made most days and towels changed twice, but that was all service-wise. Saying that, the beds were very comfortable and I slept really well every night. Unfortunately, I slipped on some steps after I came out of the pool because the tiles were slippery and I injured myself quite badly. My hub reported this to the reception, but they paid no attention and were not the slightest bit concerned. The food in the hotel was average and overpriced. Luckily, we only paid for self-catering and ate in the town. We tried to hire a car from the reception. We did this about three times, but eventually, we gave up as we were getting nowhere. We walked into town and found a hire car company who could accommodate our needs. Regrettably, because of the introduction of the euro, everything is very expensive and the locals don't appear to like us very much as the Brits have invaded their island, which is evident everywhere - Brit pubs and restaurants, Sky Sports, etc. There is rubbish and fly tipping everywhere, even in the countryside and a profusion of empty, half-built properties and cement mixers on every street corner. The locals are not the locals I remember from 13 years ago (my last visit). They appear to be out to rip you off and they don't care. Their attitude is 'if you don't like it then tough'. One day, when one was relaxing round the pool, someone decided they were going to chop a tree down a few feet from the sunbeds!! Why not wait until the end of the season to do this?? There are a lot of cats residing at the hotel, but, as I like cats, they weren't a problem. If you can accept all this, then the island is a great place to escape and get some decent weather, which is virtually guaranteed. I won't be staying at King Jason again or visiting the island again in the near future until Cyprus has cleaned up its act!

Arrived at room at 22.30, room smelled of sewage. Moved us to a ground floor room, where the toilet did not work. At 02.00am our 15 year old daughter woke up screaming she was covered in ants and bitten several times. Small ants were all over the apartment. The solution from the manager was to spray ant killer around the rooms 2.30 am.We explained that we had a 9 month old baby so this would not be acceptable. We asked for another room, which the manager refused to do, although the hotel was empty. At 03.00am we had no option but to get a taxi and move to another hotel, me, my wife, daughter and baby. We dealt with the matter through thomsons the next morning who fully agreed with us and king jason had to foot the bill for the 4 taxis and the cost of moving to 2 additional hotels. This hotel is not what it says it is.

Beautiful tastefully decorated building.
Friendly knowledgable staff, especially manager.
Lots of lovely cats.
Lovely little touches like complimentary cocktails, refreshing towels served at poolside.
Fully equipped small kitchen.
Only drawback was being woken early by birds tweeting so loudly and it would be nice to have some fresh fruit and veg in the hotel shop.

Fantastic, thats how I would describe our stay at the King Jason apartments in Pafos,Cyprus. We have just returned from a weeks stay. We went a family of four, two adults and two children aged 12 and 15. We stayed in a one bedroomed apartment that was on the ground floor very close to the pool. The apartment was very clean(maid service every day)and very comfortable, everything we needed was there. All the staff were very friendly, all spoke english and Leanne the Thompson rep was very helpful as was Andreas the manager. We did a couple of organised trips(I would highly reccomend the quad biking)and some other things ourselves. We had perfect weather, nice and hot and it was very nice to lounge around the pool as it was rather quiet with families and couples. A couple of nights we ate in the restaurant and the food was of a very high standard, plenty to choose from especially for dessert. Towards the end of the week our 12year old got rather poorly and the reception staff were extremely helpful in organising for a doctor to visit(quite expensive, cheaper if you go to them, but he wasn't up to going out). For the last two days we just lazed around near pool and at apartment but that was lovely because it was so quiet. I would highly reccomend a stay here at the King Jason apartments and can honestly say that we will return again but for two weeks next time so that we can explore more of the island. Well done and thankyou to all staff that made us feel so welcome and we will be seeing you again before too long

Peaceful Holiday

Just got back this morning from a lovely week at the King Jason apts.
While we did have a lovely time i do feel it necessary to mention a few down sides to these one bed apartments.
Firstly location, its not really a short walk to the harbour, we had a 3 year old and 7 year old with us and, in the heat, walking all the way to the harbour was hard going for them, even when we found a short cut!In the end we were using lots of taxi's to get around and they charged us 8 euros to harbour.
The kitchenette is a bit of a squish, hob, sink, draining board with the microwave sat on hob and draining board with kettle and toaster on top of it. On the plus side they did provide all the thngs you don't usually expect in sc such as washing up liquid, tea towel, dish cloth.
We definatley feel like we've had a peaceful holiday as it was coming to the end of season it was very quiet so the kids got to play in the pools all day, both of which we always found clean and the cushioned sun beds were fantastic. The kidzone staff were very helpful and friendly.
The food on site was lovely too but be aware soft drinks were expensive, 4.10 euros for blackcurrant cordial and water!
There are lots and lots of cats, everywhere! While they are in restaurants and at the harbour it doesn't seem to bother the locals and they don't shoo them away so if you're not a cat person Cyprus might not be for you.
One last point if you like waterparks the Aphrodite park in Paphos is fantastic, we wished we'd bought a famly pass so we could have gone for a few days it keeps all kids, big and little, busy non stop all day!

This was our tenth visit to the King Jason and was as good as ever.We shall be returning in September for our next visit. The staff and management are outstanding and nothing is too much trouble. You should try the restaurant on site at least once and you would be hard pushed to equal it for price and quality.Andreas.if you read this thanks for another great stay and give all your staff our thanks.see you soon.
I would also like to make an observation which I hope a Thomson representative will read.We have just checked on the prices for a stay in Sept 09.You are quoting about £500 pounds more than this year.Have you lost the plot or are you deliberatly trying to put people off this fantastic hotel.A lot of the visitors to this hotel are repeat bookers and will be put off by your ridiculous prices. We will have to rethink visit twelve.

Had a lovely stay, apartments very clean, well kept gardens & pool area, staff very helpful, down side, towels & maid service only every other day.
Hotel maneger Andraus very helpful, But if El Bronzo is about don't try and out tan him, it wont happen.
Cyprus has always been a little bit more expensive than the rest of Europe, but since the change from the Cypriot pound to the Euro the prices have risen dramatically.
Three course meal with drinks 40-50 Euro, pint of the local larger 3.50-5.00 Euro.
