WE HAD A FAB TIME. THE FOOD WE THOUGHT WAS EXCELLENT,LOTS OF CHOICE AND VARIETY. THE ROOM WAS A BIT SMALL BUT NOT A PROBLEM. SLIGHT PROBLEM WITH THE MAID WHO THREW A BAG OUT WITH CONTACT LENSES IN BUT IT WAS ON THE FLOOR SO PARTLY MY FAULT. ENTERTAINMENT EVERY NIGHT BUT AS THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO IN BENIDORM WE DIDNT SEE MUCH OF IT. CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK AGAIN AND WE NEVER OFTEN SAY THAT

Just returned fron two weeks at the Rio Park Benidorm family of four in two rooms , I must say it turned out for us anyway to be a dissapointment and none of us would ever return there, The hotel is a two star and its plain to see, the plastic chairs in the entertainment / bar areas , the two star decor, and both our bedrooms could not have been much smaller needed painting and the beds hard and small singles very uncomfortable indeed , There was air con but not very powerfull we found and just a few English news chanells on the small TV ,
The rooms was cleaned daily but towels were small and the shower was often slow and water smelt funny. The dining room was ok self service but the food repetitive and one days food often repeated the next day and alterd slightly it seemed , example first days sausages titled ENGLISH sausages next days looked the same only darker color labled SPANISH sausages !even the restraunt staff laughed at this when we could see they where the same, they did not disagree. Entertainment was not worth the bother mostly staff shows most guests thought like us this was like the hotel , basic and very 2 star entertainment,
This is a gold award hotel but for us not even bronze . having stayed at many hotels this was not good enough and the write up Thompson and Portland give it is in our opinionnot correct , choose it for a basic two star cheap holiday maybe but you get what you pay for and it is not comfortable enough or good enough to be a good choice for a benidorm holiday is our point of view,
PLEASE BEWARE BE WARNED ! At the airport on our return to Gatwick there was extra staff making sure your bag was 2o kilo if over by just one or two like ours we had to pay 9 euros per kilo over the limit and they where having a field day holdiong up the que and causing much trouble and distress for all the passengers , Be sure your under your allowance 20 kilo on your return this was a thompson air flight and imo anouther way to get extra money it seemed all passengers got hit, and the thompson unfriendly unhelpfull flight staff and poor food both ways was anouther sad dissapointment, I would say our honest opinion was overall danger avoid this hotel and choose a different holiday and holiday provider, we will in 2009,

Hotel was alright. Pool was the best bit. if your young & up for a laugh dont go to this hotel. me & 5 of my friends nearly got kicked out after a couple of nights. The Cleaners have terrible manners. & watch out for the slippery floors! as there are no signs. The reception staff dont care about your views on anything. Also on the website that we booked the holiday on, said there are hairdryers & fridges in the rooms. Neither were. The hairdryers you have to pay 10 euros for 2 hours of use. And there are no fridges in the hotel. If your a loud person this isnt the hotel for you.

Just got back from the rio park on 13 september 2008 and what a lovely time we had, from arriving in Alicante airport to the coach transfer to Benidorm everything went so smoothly with Thomson.
ARRIVAL AT HOTEL
As soon as you walk through the doors the air con just hits you very nice seems temperature outside in its 30s.Walked up to reception which was very efficient and quick with the reception area being very clean and relaxing and spacious. There are 5 lifts two of which are outside see views of the pool area.Large bar area, lots of pool tables, games machines, two dart boards and a table tennis table.
BAR AREA
Very clean, large area inside, smoking area outside and happy hour mondays, wednesdays, saturdays and sundays between 5 and 6pm where you get 2 drinks for the price of one.
ROOM
After getting our keys we were given room 1020,which was high up on floor 10 but until we got there we were not sure of which side of the hotel we would be on but to our pleasure we had a great view of looking right down on the pool, but if you had the front or sides of hotel you would probably have a view of building sights across the road.
The rooms are ok,we had three beds in ours, just enough room to get around,it had free air con,tv(but there was not much english channel chioce unless you like watching the news alot)and a sliding mirrored wardrobe, the bathroom was clean and had shower and bath sink toilet and beday, and was a good size. The rooms were cleaned everyday with fresh towels with friendly cleaning staff.
RESTURANT
Wow what can i say,the food was terrific, always piping hot and so much to choose from. You even have to wipe your hands in alcol cleaning gel before entering the food hall which i have not seen before. It has a big resturant plenty of tables for everyone with breakfast between 8.30 to 10.30 and evening meal between 6.30 and 9.30 so you have got plenty of time to decide when to go down. The waiters, cooks and dining staff work very hard and always maintain and top up food straight away when it runs out.
ENTERTAINMENT
The day time entertainment was from 1pm to 5pm and consisted of quizzes, killer pool and darts competitions, table tennis, card games plus other competitions, you win prizes from t shirts to bottles of spirits for the adults. The only concern i would say is the entertainment reps announced the activities on the intercom but it was so quiet if you were in the resturant or around the pool you could not hear it so most people did not relize the activities were on,and there was no pool area activities like water polo etc.
The evening entertainment started at 8.30 until around midnight which included singers, magican and staff shows at 10.30 which included most of the dining room staff which was very funny well worth watching, but there is so much going on down the town you may prefer to go there instead which alot of guests did except maybe the disabled or oaps.
OVERALL GOOD COMMENTS
A definate must hotel, clean, spacious, friendly staff, large pools, great food, worth more than 2 star rating, even got a free goody bag to take to the airport when we left which was a surprise.
OVERALL NEGATIVE COMMENTS
Thomson reps not very useful just sat there behind the desk all week and never said anything to anyone unless you wanted a trip and they took your money.
No poolside activities.
OVERALL
If we return to Benidorm again the first place we would try and book will be the rio park hotel without a doubt.

You can not really find anything too bad to say about the rio park.
I found the hotel and the rooms very clean, although the room could do with a lick of paint.Fully airconditioned , which was great.
The staff were very friendly, good with the kids too.
Food was varied and always hot.
My only problem was the single room. I was told about not having a balcony or bath before going, but still found the room quite small. Also a bit miffed about paying a single person suplement and being put in room designed for one. What was the supplement for?
Overall i would reccomend this hotel very highly and would definetly go back again!

My husband and I are 20 and 21, we thaught this hotel was fantastic, people shouldnt expect too much, after all it is only a 2 star, and can I just say this hotel deserves way more than a 2 star rating. The food was nice and my husband and I are both very fussy eaters but there was always something we liked, breakfast was brill full english everyday along with healthier options and its also cheap enough to eat out if you fancied a change. The hotel sangria is gorgeous and theres a lovely terrace overlooking the pool to sit and sunbath if you like a bit of piece and quiet. The aircon is fab!! and gets really cold, the rooms are a good size and get cleaned everyday. The thomsons reps were great and we would deffinately reccomend the young and lively bar crawl!! will deffinately be returning to this hotel! well worth the money! oh and the building work wasnt even that close to the hotel so didnt affect the holiday at all, we did have a view of it but we didnt go on holiday to sit on the balcony all day!! great holiday all round!

The truth about Rio park
Well what can a say ,was very nervous about going to this hotel based on some of the reviews but onced there all seemed well . Hotel very clean the food choice was excellent sometimes you had to use your imagination when sorting a dinner plate out for kids as I had 3 kids with me who are all quite fussy eaters but I managed to plate them something everyday . When you see the food that is combined together you might not fancy that so just mix and match it worked great for us,BIG downside to this hotel is that there are no fridges available for hire so you need plenty money for juice or water as I was a family of 5, I well and trully overspent as our travel agents said that we could hire fridges they also said that we would get ajoining bedrooms with our kids they dont exist either and for a complex that size there is no laundrette I know these all seem trival things to some but juice was one euro twenty a cup and for 5 thats a big peice of your holiday funds. The hotel entertainment isnt up to much we went out to the local bars and found our own which were amazing, the kids club during the day needs a good spicing up as well my kids never got involved once as they were all indoors and not up to much one big plus for this hotel was the pool area kids are given freedom so mine had a ball my wee girl even learned to swim pool area very relaxed atmosphere would definetaly return to this hotel as I would know what to expect on my next visit

As always, a really enjoyable holiday. Rooms cleaned and maintained daily, brilliant food, ranging from local cuisine to good british food. Lovely ameneties such as the pool and the sunning area. The staff were very friendly due to the manager's hands on approach. Entertainment in the afternoon was excellent and terrific for the kids. Located in a lovely area of benidorm, just out of the way of the hustle and bustle of the old town nightclubs, but within 5 minutes walk of the beach. One thing to be wary, the showers are slippy, a relative of mine fell and had 22 stitches at benidorm hospital. However will once more be coming back to enjoy it all again next year.

If ure a fussy eater, don`t go here. Food is not brill. Breakfast is usually floating in grease. Main meals range from Hake, half cooked chips to dried up pasta. Soup was ok. No kids menu. Plenty of salad and strange puddings. DONOT book a family room, my pal did! Looks like a tiny cupboard under the hotel patio/bar so is noisey. The room is very small with small windows at the top, 1 wardrobe for 4-6 people. They say there is cot space! Yes there is but then u couldn`t walk across the room. EVERONE was complaing about them. The rep suggested getting 2rooms in hotel but holiday makers wood have to pay extra. Not very helpfull. Not much for the kids to do, club wasn`t up to much, only 1 rep doin kids club. Access to pool not good for disabled/older folk., hard to get in/out off but 3nice pools. Hotel room clean but not large, 1 wardrobe and dressing table. Building works to the side and down the street but not to noisey. Start work about 8am.

LOVELY CLEAN AND WELL KEPT HOTEL,CONVENIENT FOR SHOPS,BARS BEACH ETC.
WE HAVE STAYED IN BENIDORM QUITE A FEW TIMES BUT THIS HOTEL IS THE BEST WE HAVE STAYED IN.
THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, THE ONLY FAULT i HAD WAS IT WASNT HOT ENOUGH,THERE WAS A MICROWAVE BUT EVERYTHING ISNT SUITABLE TO BE PUT IN A MICROWAVE.
PLENTY OF SUN LOUNGERS AROUND THE POOL FOR EVERYONE,BUT YOU STILL GET PEOPLE UP EARLY PUTTING TOWELS ON AND THEN NOT COMING BACK TO USE THEM UNTIL AFTER LUNCH.ITS SO ANNOYING!!
WHEN WE RETURN TO BENIDORM I WILL DEFINETLY TRY TO BOOK IN THIS HOTEL BEFORE TRYING ANY OTHER. WE HAD A GREAT TIME!

Those who look for fault and like to moan about things will be dissapointed with this hotel. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The room was comfortable and air conditioned with the maid cleaning every day. Foodwise was excellent and the only task was deciding what to eat as their was so much choice. We had a room overlooking the pool on the 12th floor and had a great view. It was the first time my partner had been abroad for a great number of years and we've only just returned and we,re already planning next years holiday. All in all a very good hotel.

This hotel suits all. im 19 and went with 4 of my mates the same age. We had great time in the hotel the facilities were great. pool fantastic and peaceful. loads of sunbeds so you never have to lay on the floor. also the food was amazing so much different choice each night.
The best thing about the hotel is its 5 mins from club central so never had to walk far.
Its near the beach aswel so got chance to go there. and they even gave me and 2 friend a bottle of brandy each as apology for overcrowding. also discounted us for aqualandia aswel. so all can say great hotel great holiday.

Have just returned from a last minute deal we booked at Rio Park. We went to Rio many years ago and were pleasantly suprised at the improvements made.
Overall the holiday provided a good base and really desreves upgarding to a three star. Food is nothing less than fantastic. Loads of choice and good quality, you'd have to be very fussy if you couldnt find anything here to suit you!Hotel clean throughout and staff are great.
A great hotel for hens and stag does !
Two new lifts have been installed this year and although there are four in total , when the hotel is full and you are on the top floors it can take some time to get a lift.
Rooms allocated on the front of the hotel at present overlook the building site, which at first glance is a bit off putting, however as the hotel was full we could not change rooms so stuck it out, we werent in the room long anyhow and my hubby was fascinated by the construction work taking place . To be honest the noise was limited and the rooms are all double glazed and thankfully air conditioned so you can hardly hear a thing , dont let this put you off it allocated on of these rooms.
The hotel are to be commended for their approach to hand hygiene and you are not allowed into the restaurant without using either the alcohol wipes or gel available at the restaurant entrance!
Hotel is a smoking hotel , and unfortunately for us we were surrounded by smokers which could be smelt in our bathroom and on the balcony. I have suggested that maybe when booking smoking guests could be allocated rooms near each other, then everyone would be happy.
My only real grumbles are the entertainment which was pathetic to say the least. Evening stuff is almost non existent except for bingo and kids stuff and a disco, shows are really poor, but hey this is benidorm and the entertainment is all around you ! so again not a problem.
The entertainment area is poor and kind of resembles a cafeteria, you cannot actually see the stage area, and non of the entertainment is outside , there isnt room anyhow.
Pool areas is very good with plenty of sunbeds and shaded areas if it gets too hot, quite a walk to the beach if you have kids with all the trappings , but do-able.
Plenty of good , cheap local bars , recommend Alfies Den on the yellow brick road and BBbs near the hotel.
All in all a great 10 days very good value !
