just got back from a week in the hilton, after being on a cruise boat the week before, this place was a shock to the system.we arrived at the hotel about 8.15pm after a long bus ride across the desert in the rain! the convoy only drove about 15 mph so it was a long ride. Our first impression of it was an airport lobby, the atmosphere was cold and uninviting and our room was the same. after we took our bags to the room we went for a beer,we wanted a nice quiet bar just to relax,we didnt fancy the main reception bar area as it was very noisy and full of people smoking,so we asked a guy if there was a quieter bar so he sent us across to the aqua bar, well this bar was like an airport lobby to ,shops included! we wanted to get back on the bus and go home, there was 10 people from our cruise that felt exactly the same, the next day we asked if we could change rooms as we requested a sea view,so we got moved to the sea front in an upstairs villa,it was a smaller room but had a nicer feel to it although the bathroom was as grubby as the first one we had,as far as the foods concerned it was awfull ,it was cold and pretty much the same every day,i had toast for breakfast as i was sick of cold scambled eggs and mushrooms,as the week went on we settled in,we spent every day on the beach as their was plenty of wind breaks and boy did you need one, as the wind was very cold.you also get hassled all the time by people wanting to sell you massages, trips out ect,it really gets a pain in the backside, the evening entertainment is rubbish, we hated it when the evening came cos there was nothing to do,it was down to the staff that we stuck the whole week, they were fantastic, they love the british as we talk to them and they can have a laugh with us,they dont get that from all the russians and all the rest of them, they can be really arrogant and rude to the staff, and the staff dont deserve it,as they really are great guys, they cant do enough for you and they are so friendly, the good points about this hotel are the staff, the pool area and gardens and the beach, its not proper sand on the beach,it is very gritty but the lagoons are lovely, and there was plenty of beds.the bad points are the bar areas ,the food ,the bathrooms, and not enough british people, you tend to feel like your out of place, the over all feel of the hotel was like being in an airport the hotel is just too big. I would not recommend this hotel if your after a warm friendly enviroment as your not gonna get it

A very large sprawling complex, in the middle of nowhere. A good half hours taxi drive from the main resort.
Food was absolutely disgusting, catering for mainly eastern europeans. Avoid this hotel unless you like eating luke warm slop!
Bedrooms OK and staff friendly.

Bland, Noisy and Hot...
Normally I come back from a hotel and wonder what could have prompted such poor reviews, however in the case of the Hilton Long Beach Hurghada, it saddens me to say that most of the poorer reviews are justified.
After spending a wonderful week cruising down the Nile on board the MS Magic 1, the Long Beach was a bit of a let down (please bear in mind that things I felt let the hotel down may not bother others, and in all honesty most of them won't make or break your holiday, but far a supposedly five star hotel a lot of things just didn't cut the mustard).
I really disliked having the drinks trolley coming round trying to get you to purchase non All Inclusive drinks, I also felt it was a bit off pushing the pay extra restaurant whilst you're relaxing at the pool and non AI drink's at the pool and beach bars.
Lobby Bar:
On first entering the hotel, comments about the hotel Lobby bar feeling like an airport lounge were quite correct, the noise was unbearable and not a chance of finding a seat to relax in.
But to give a balanced review, the day we checked in must have been prior to a few days of big change over's hence being so over crowded (though it does pose the question, can the hotel facilities cope at full occupancy? Probably not). Mid way into the week, whilst it was still reasonably noisy it was much easier to find seating and the service was really very good - in fact one lovely waiter was bringing the drink faster than we could drink them!
Unlike a lot of lobby bars I've been to both in Egypt and places like Mexico, this one is more a place to stop for a few drinks prior to dinner, but not really somewhere to hang out for the rest of the evening.
Aqua lounge:
Again like the Lobby Bar, not a seat to be had on the first night and once we did finally cobble together some seating it was supposed to be waiter service to the table (so as not to clog up the bar area, Ie you weren't meant to go up the bar and order your own). The waiter service to the table wasn't working particularly well, so after 20 mins of no service we did go up to the bar and eventually procured some drinks. Do be aware the 'entertainment' and I use the work lightly is very loud and very out of tune - Simon Cowell would pull the poor Russian singer to pieces, she was pretty dreadful unfortunately.
Sports Bar:
After leaving the Aqua Lounge due to the awful entertainment we tried the sports bar. Neither myself or my family enjoy watching football, but this place became our little evening haven. There was never a problem finding a table and fabulous service in the form of Safwat. It's a quiet bar, but this suited us fine as it meant we could talk, play cards, play pool etc.
Snack Bars:
These weren't bad and saved getting dressed to eat in the restaurant. The speciality of the day board did make us chuckle, since the speciality is the same every day - hot dog or kebab. Service wise I'd recommend the chap serving by the Pool over the Beach Bar. The pool guy presented the food well and always with a pleasant smile; the beach guys on the other hand tended to be a bit surly and just slapped the food onto a plate.
Lotus Restaurant:
We only ate here on our first evening as it was hot (AC not working), noisy/echoed a lot, the food wasn't very enjoyable and it felt like a canteen.
Al Dente:
We ate here the mostly for Breakfast and evening meals, as with the Lotus it was also very hot (AC not working), but the food whilst similar to the Lotus did seem better prepared and the service was hugely improved over the Lotus.
Generally the best that can be said about the food was that it was ok and whilst you won't go hungry (though other people from our flight were not so kind), for a five star hotel you should be able to say that the food was outstanding and the variety copious as with other hotels of a similar rating that I've had the pleasure of staying at.
The rooms:
The rooms are as bland and lacking in character as the rest of the hotel, they're of a good size, but are just so plain; the finishing in the bathrooms was particularly poor and the duvets very lumpy - ok not the end of the world since how much time do most of us spend in the room whilst on holiday, but the point is that the rooms should have been of a higher standard.
I wonder if our side of the hotel was due for a re-fit since we got varying reports from people in different parts of the hotel. But we had no Air Con for the entire stay making sleep incredibly difficult which was totally unacceptable - three visit's to reception didn't rectify the problem, apparently the chiller plant was broken (which reception didn't even tell us about, that was left to the poor engineer they sent along), we were told the plant had been fixed and that our AC should now work fine - but alas no, eventually we gave up.
The pool area was the saving grace of the hotel and really quite a nice area to relax in. The beach was ok, we mainly passed through it on our way to look at the fish on the end of the jetty, which were fab, different fish every time we went down. We had planned to snorkel at the hotel, but often found a lot of jellyfish lurking around which none of us were particularly keen to been stung by (course they might not have stung at all, but who's willing to take the chance).
All in all, the hotel was adequate for a weeks stay, but not on a par with the hotels in Sharm. Would I stay here again or recommend it to a friend, afraid not.

Feb 2008, Miss C Burchill

Our stay in Hilton Long beach was pleasent, the majority of the staff were polite and friendly. The rooms in the hotel were always clean and had frest bottled water every morning and even put flowers on the bed.
There was some down points while staying there. Even though they have a variety of food me and my partner didnt enjoy the food while we were there and were living off pasta and bread. Also the shop assistant were rude and unconsiderate by saying "nice nice" when im hand in hand with my partner which didnt go down too well. But on the whole the resort was fantastic there is plenty to do inside such as keep fit classes, snorkling and diving, massage and beauty treatments and much more. It was fantastic having the beach on the resort and able to look out onto the red sea and have many bars near by. There was also night time entertainment with entertainers and even a disco for the us young ones.
My hoilday was fantastic and would recommend anyone to visit this beauty country jus make sure you pack a few pot noodles lol

This was our second year at this...

Aug 2007, Mrs Z Oliver

This was our second year at this hotel. We loved it the first time and I can tell you it is still a excellent choice to stay at in Egypt.
The cleanliness at the hotel is great. Everywhere is so tidy and the rooms are spacious and cleaned every day to top standards.

The pools are well looked after and the staff around pool bar are very friendly and such good fun. They made our holiday as they really entertained all of us with their witty sense of humour.
Loads of sunbeds to find and relax on with your clean towels.
The food was repeated in second week and yes it could get abit of the same thing but it was tasty enough and very well done. Everything from soups , salads to main meals and sweets. If you did get fed up with the buffet restaurant you could go to get a Pizza or go to the Marhaba restaurant at a price. I can assure you though that the food was excellent and you could also watch the chef cooking your meal for you.
The entertainment was as low or high as you wanted. I personally after a full sun day prepared to relax round the pool bar chatting to new friends and listening to the singers. My children went to the amphitheatre and watched various shows and seemed to enjoy them.
The Aqua bar was a new building for this year and it was lovely and peaceful and good air conditioning. The children paid small fees to go upstairs and play in soft play areas.
To go to Hurghada town it cost about 3 English pounds by taxi and was well worth the trip out to see the locals and get some good gifts to take home. McDonalds was really cheap and you got loads more food than in England.
If you do however suffer a tummy bug due to too much sun and beer get some 'Antinal' tablets from Hurghada town pharmacy for about 1 English pound for 12 capsules. You will notice a great change. They kill the bacteria bug in your tummy rather than working like Imodium and blocking it. Believe me it did the trick for us.
I am sure if you have booked this hotel you won't be disappointed. I will be returning in the future and can't wait to meet up with all the staff again. It’s a real treat to find a hotel you really love returning to.

What a place, I have never been so...
10 / 10
Aug 2007, Miss W McKenna

What a place, I have never been so well looked after in my life.
On arrival at about 10.30 pm, we were warmly greeted in reception and given our room keys. We said we needed something to eat and were taken to the Al Dente restaurant that was still open and had a meal and a drink. The porters brought our bags to our room
For the whole 2 weeks we were very well looked after and the employees at the hotel were very polite and wished us good morning every day.
We spent just 2 days at the pool (due to lack of sunbeds and rude Russians) and then discovered we could be just as well looked after on the beach so that's where we where for the rest of the holiday. We collected free towels every morning and could change them during the day if we wanted to! The staff at the beach bar got to know us and brought us drinks as soon as we arrived on the beach in the morning and watermelon at 3 pm (You had to pay for that, just £1.80).
There are 2 coral reefs at the private beach and while exploring it I discovered a clown fish and her baby hiding amongst the sea anenomes along with plenty of other colourful fish! The sea was very warm and shallow and you do have to walk out about 100 yards to get to the deep water, the sand on the beach did get very hot so I was glad of my swimming shoes!
When I asked the Aqua staff about the coral reef just off the jetty at the hotel they showed us where it was and borrowed us snorkelling gear so we could explore it further (well worth the effort). They even offered to take us snorkelling to point out the fish of interest. We went on a boat trip from the hotel to the coral reefs in the Red Sea and spent some time on Giftun Island. The guide was knowledgeable and entertained us on the boat. We didn't get to see dolphins or turtles on that trip but we did get to see dolphins on the MyTravel sea trip.
We had breakfast at the Lotus restaurant every morning and we served fresh omelettes from the egg station by Belal who always greeted us warmly every morning with a smile. There is NO bacon for breakfast apart from some beef bacon, there are chicken or beef sausages which were OK. Oh and my favourite, there is Douwe Egberts coffee available all day!
The food at the hotel was varied! We tried lots of foods we had never tried before and the beauty of a buffet style is…if you don’t like it, go and get something else!
There was plenty to do at the hotel during the day as the "Animation" team put on a good diary of events, we had belly dancing lessons on the beach from Nasser and you could do dancing classes, water gymnastics, football or volley ball.
They put on some good shows at the amphitheatre at night, The Voice of Egypt was by far the best! When that was finished at about midnight, then the Rendez Vous disco was just starting with themed nights
Some of the English people stopping at the hotel at the same time as us got sick, but we were fine. We washed our hands after handling the money, didn't eat salad or scrambled eggs and we never had ice cubes.

Mar 2007, Miss K L Battrick

The hotel itself was fantastic, very clean and had friendly staff. The choice of food was excellent, something for everyone and all very fresh. Although I can also highly recommend the pizza room delivery service!
We spent most of our time in the sports bar which was the only hope of meeting any other English (the hotel is mainly Russian) so I can't comment much on the entertainment - although there was something on every night.
The rooms were great (although when you check-in they try to upgrade you) very
Spacious, cleaned daily and sound-proof! Although we only saw our rep once, both excursions we went on (Cairo and Snorkeling on Mahmaya island) were very well organised. The guide who accompanies you on the trips is very knowledgeable and helpful in all ways.
Although the coach trip to Cairo takes around 11 hours altogether I feel it is well worth it, spending time at the museum and visiting the pyramids is an unforgettable experience.
The snorkeling was great too, the shallow waters are very clear and it is fairly easy to pick up. The only warning I give is when snorkeling in the deep waters there are LOADS of jelly-fish and although they don't hurt when they sting they can be quite creepy!
The weather was fantastic, there was always a breeze which gives you the misconception that you are not being caught by the sun - you will soon notice upon returning to your room though!
As the hotel is huge we only left it on one occasion (other than the excursions) and that was to the town centre. I warn you, the Egyptians somehow think that all English are loaded and are constantly begging for money or trying to get you into their shop - much worse than in Turkey. The only way to deal with them is to completely ignore them.
Overall, a great holiday, plenty to do, good food/weather and a friendly atmosphere.

Mar 2007, Mrs M Cairns

This was by far the best holiday I have experienced and friends felt the same. We were a company of three.
Food was delicious and staff could not help enough.
The happiness of the staff at work was so refreshing to witness.
All facilities available were of a high standard.
My only regret is that I have put of visiting Egypt for many years, now I would not consider any other destination, as far as we are concerned, our holiday was off the Richter scale.

Mar 2007, Mr C Bowden

Do not go to this hotel.
Firstly, it is not all inclusive in every sense of the word. On the first night I found that there were 2 bars that I had to pay in and two restaurants. This is not what it said in the brochure.
The only bars that is the hotel lobby bar which is full of smokers hanging around waiting for there coaches, the Aqua bar which is the dullest bar I’ve ever been to, unless you like Egyptian lounge singers, this bar was empty all holiday.
The other bar was the sports bar which consisted of a very small room, 2 televisions, a pool table and a chess board, this bar did not even have toilets.
This hotel had one bar by the pool, it closed at 7pm, the 2 beach bars closed at 6pm.
The 7 swimming pools are very nice especially as they re linked by this river style pool, guess what? The main pool was closed while we were there and so was the river pool, everyone therefore was crowded round the remaining pools that were freezing cold.
The restaurants served the same horrible food all week long; if you want hot plates, cold food and warm glasses then this is for you.
The food was mainly rice and pasta and meat.
Even though the hotel was half full, we often had to queue to get into the restaurant; it was like being back at school.
Be careful when ordering drinks, some you pay for some are free.
Our room was nice and clean though.
My general feeling on this resort is that it is too big, over 1200 rooms, they cannot cope, and it took us 15 mins to walk to our room from the hotel.
If you have kids they will be bored. There is no nightlife to speak off except the disco which is expensive to drink in.
Do yourself a favour and stay at the Hilton Resort up the road, it is much better. Better still stay in the Marriott.

This was one of the most amazing...

Feb 2007, Miss V Shah

This was one of the most amazing holidays; people were lovely, made some good friends with the locals and the staff!
As soon as we entered the place looked gorgeous, the rooms were nice and clean and very spacious with views out towards the pool.
The restaurants were lovely and as a vegetarian they catered towards our tastes and was delicious.
As well as lazing by the pool and enjoying swimming in one of the heated pools there was fun filled activities with the animation crew such as water aerobics which was made enjoyable.
Learning belly dancing on the beach was definitely one of the highlights of the holiday.
The excursions we went on were excellent with tour guides we couldn’t fault heading into Luxor for a historic day out as well as into the desert for an activity filled day.
The only fault with the whole holiday was that it did get a bit chilly at night so be warned to take a few jumpers.
Would definitely recommend it to anyone and look forward to going again.

Having read hundreds of reviews I was...
10 / 10
Jan 2007, Mr A H Freestone

Having read hundreds of reviews I was a little sceptical to say the least.
However I found the Longbeach to be excellent, food was fine, lots of choice, although towards the end of the fortnight, was getting a little repetitive, but what else would you expect.
The staff were excellent, and nothing was to much trouble, with or without tips.
The only real let down for me, was the lack of entertainment in the evening, although that did improve at end of our stay, with the opening of the Aqua Lounge, and live music.
The weather was a constant 28c which for Christmas was pretty good. I found the best time to go shopping was in the evening to Sacala, or Masharebia which was probably the best place to start, as there was a department store that sold all the tat that the street vendors were trying to push out at seriously inflated prices.
Snorkeling was outstanding and I would recommend it most highly. The highlight of the holiday, the quad bike bedouin camp trip was disappointing as the vast majority of the trip is spent riding a quad and the camp is all false. Camels are fun though, watch out for the dismount. Massage at the hotel is superb and very relaxing.
Don't bother getting visa before you fly its all very straight forward when you arrive no hassle and cheaper. All in all it was a fantastic holiday, would go to the same hotel again and probably will.

Hope you all have as good a time as I did.
