Hotel only 10 mins transfer from airport. Complex was definitely 4*, great accommodation, staff polite and helpful.
Extremely clean, sheets and towels changed every day. Room was large but a bit dark, as it didn't have a window unfortunately. Air con in room with fridge and tele.
Great selection of buffet style food, omelettes made to request for breakfast. Nice pool area. Have to be up early to get a sunbed though.
Entertainment was a bit non-existent which was a bit disappointing for an all-inclusive resort.
However, holiday was great value for money.

This was a very disappointing holiday and I wonder where I should start. The positive side of the holiday was the lovely staff and a very spacious and clean apartment. My room was cleaned everyday and towels provided on request.
The negative side to this all-inclusive holiday was that it appeared as if it gave the staff permission to serve us warm / hot beer in plastic cups around the pool area and at the poolside cafe. The pool area was very small and could not cater for the vast number of clients. To compensate the clients were given towels and sponged seat liners in order that they could sit on the grass.
On my first day I realised that the pool area was overcrowded and asked if there were any other chairs. I was told to wake up early. This meant getting up as early as 5am and reserving ones deckchair. This was supposed to be a 4* hotel. To get round this some customers were paying staff to reserve their deck chairs. Everyday we were issued with beach towels. Some of these towels were frayed and of a poor standard. I have thrown out better towels.
Food was of a palatable nature but became very repetitive during my 14 days. I found it lacked bite. Some of it was uncooked throughout and resulted in a very poorly stomach. On going into the restaurant I found that the drinks service was slow and on several occasions I had to ask to be served. All tables were set out and if there was the need for extra cutlery this was often slow in coming. There appeared to be a lack of extra cutlery and crockery.
This hotel was advertised as having evening entertainment. Over my 14 days I saw 5 different acts all repeated every other evening. This was poor and was definitely not entertainment - someone lied to me. The entertainment was appalling and consisted of a whirling dervish, a man in a Gorilla suit kissing people, belly dancer, and a man walking on broken glass. My party enjoyed socialising with others rather than being bored with what was provided.
On booking I was told that I would have full use of the sister hotel. The Sonesta Beach appeared to be a better hotel and was not a sister hotel. This hotel was run by a different outfit. I was not allowed to use their restaurant. Use of their facilities amounted to their deck chairs on their beach and the service of drinks from a hut between 12.00hrs and 16.00hrs. Again no ice was included in the drinks.
I could go on about this hotel. I would definitely not stop there again. I would pay a little extra and find somewhere else. This hotel falls short of being a 3* site.

Just arrived back from 2 weeks at Sonesta Club as All inclusive guests. This proved to be very disappointing as the complex was not totally all inclusive.
It was only the pool bar and the restaurant which was inclusive, everywhere else you had to pay. The drinks were served warm with little ice available. You could get cold drinks if you paid! Food choice was repetitive but very edible, staff were friendly and courteous.
The complex was clean and tidy but beware of the sun bed war. Be prepared to get up at 5am in order to claim a sunbed! Families with children beware of young couples entertaining themselves in the pool in the evening!
No-one mentioned that there were building works going on - we were issued with a lovely view of the builders from our balcony - very disappointed. The rooms themselves were basic but clean and our cleaner took great delight in leaving swans and an alligator on our beds made out of towels.
Book yourself in for a massage at the health club, this was approx £30 for around 2hours treatment - very enjoyable. The brochure said that the entertainment was low key - this was true, it was non-existent, absolutely boring on the complex at night, we went out in the evening, walking along the rear of the hotels across the road and enjoyed meals out and entertainment for free.
Visit Harry's Bar in the Marriott Hotel, very good evening with air con bar and beer around £2.80 with entertainment. Enjoy the haggling and bartering in Naama Bay and Old Sharm. Smokers can pick up cigarettes for around £5.50 for L & M and £13 for Lambert & Butler.
The temperature reached 47 degrees whilst there and became unbearable, as this was our first trip to Egypt, we would definitely choose either earlier in the year or later.
On the whole, the Club was rated 4*, we would rate it a low 3*. The Sonesta Beach - the sister hotel seemed to be a lot nicer and the pool was magnificent. We also used the Days Beach resort beach in the day and went swimming in the Marriott Hotel swimming pool further up the walk way. This was the best part of the holiday, the Marriott would be our choice for future. Their rating was 4* but in our opinion it should be 10*.

The rooms were clean and tidy but placed in middle of building site, took two days to be moved.
Staff were rude and ignorant with the exception of the odd few.
All drinks served in plastic beakers and entertainment is the same belly dancer each night for 20 minutes. All inclusive are treated as second class as paying customers are seen first as they may tip the waiter. Dregs out of five bottles to make one beaker of lager!!
The pool that was built you had to be up 4am in the morning to get sunbeds, left our towels out and they got pinched. Tables and drinking cups were dirty and ending up with one of our party with Salmonella Poisoning obviously food hygiene problem here.
Beach and snorkelling was fantastic though and would recommend to anyone that you give this a try. Other than this the holiday was a complete disaster and has put us off Egypt for life.
Don't complain when we go on holiday but felt necessary to this time, it is such a shame.

I have just read some of the recent comments and I cannot believe we went to the same hotel! On reading the hotel blurb, it said a courtesy bus was provided to and from the airport, the day before we left I tried to call the Sonesta to arrange a transfer, but there was no answer, although this was not a particular problem, when we arrived at Sharm airport, we got in all I can say is an old banger of a taxi, who proceeded to charge us £25 English for a 5 minute journey ( and that was haggling him down)! Later we found out it should of only been £10 as they was 5 of us with luggage, if less than 5 of you then you should only pay roughly £5 English! We arrived in 1 piece thankfully, but with all the Thompson people, so when we told the receptionist we were on our own, you would of thought we had committed a crime, very rude! Not a good start. We were told to go to our rooms and our bags would follow, lovely big rooms, we had interconnecting rooms which were fab I must say, although a little dark, but spotlessly clean. We were due to have a pool view so when I opened the back door, you can imagine my surprise when there was a building site, which we were not made aware of, luckily the noise of the air-conditioning unit drowned out the noise of the building work, which started about 6am and finished about 9pm. We were also very surprised at the pool area as the pool shown on the website at the time was the one at Sonesta Beach. We have 3 children so we thought going all inclusive would be a cheaper option, don't believe it. I know this is a package holiday, but it was not cheap for us at all, in fact it would have cheaper for us to go to the Hilton or the Marriott B/B and eat out every night, because that is what we ended up doing anyway because the food was so repetitive!! To get a cold beer you have to pay £2.50 English a bottle, as the beer they serve up to All inclusive is warm, in fact one of the bar staff told us, they can only give the cold drinks to the paying customers, never mind that we paid before we got there! There was hardly any entertainment at all, a Russian belly dancer, a fire-eater, 3 blokes dancing around in skirts and a man and a bed of nails. At 11 o'clock the night club opened and my Children went in there for a dance, but they could not take any drink in there, they had to buy it from the bar if they wanted a drink, in fact what they would do is come outside have a drink and then go back in but a bit stupid really. The swimming pool area was probably only designed for 300 people with that amount of sunbeds, if you wanted a bed you had to get up at around 5.30am or before, and then there was no guarantee that you kept the bed, because the Italians would just go around and take the beds and the towels. Swimming pool was dirty, and it’s not until you go into other resorts swimming pools do you realise how dirty it actually was. ( but then again we must of seen at least 6 couple having sex in the pool, so that probably didn't help it). Beware if anyone offers you anything, because there will be a price on the end of it, we were offered a glass of fresh orange juice at breakfast, which my husband said he would like a glass, 20 Egyptian pounds (£2), he soon backed it! We were all inclusive, since when do you pay for orange juice! The food served up in the buffet we thought was ok when we first arrived, and as they have a menu on the wall outside, informing you that Monday would be French Night, Tuesday Tex Mex etc. Well that was totally wrong, if you like Chicken wings, Liver, Beef, Rice every night just done slightly different, for instance they served beef wellington one night, the next night they served cold beef wellington, most of the food uneaten will be recycled for the next day, which probably caused a lot of upset tummy's. Breakfast was the best meal, as they cooked fresh omelette to your taste, but again the same thing every morning. Excursions, beware who you book trips with, we booked Quad biking in the desert for sunset It cost £15 each, which we thought was very reasonable, when we got there we were told to put scarf on round our heads at £3 per person, then they put cold bottles of water in our hands, when my son opened his they tried to charge us £1, we just gave it back. Finally after 1 hour 15 mins, we were on our way, sunset had been and gone it was pitch black, after what seemed an eternity ( I had an accident, caused by the guide) we were taken to a Bedouin Camp, was charged £2 per bottle of water. They also try to sell you jewellery etc, we were taken back, one of the young lads with us his bike ran out of petrol, and he was just left on his own ( he was only 14) the whole experience was not good. Back at resort if you book with tour reps, they will not take anyone who is under 16. Quad biking its self was very good and I would definitely do it again but in the daylight and with a tour operator, not the hotel operator. The walk to the Sonesta Beach is about 10 minutes especially in 40 degree heat, when I first looked on the website I thought the club and the beach was just 1 big resort, but you have to cross a busy dual carriageway, and then through the Sonesta beach to get to the actual beach, where their beds are free and there is a little shack that serves the all inclusive club residents on the left hand side just as you go on the beach. There is a very nice beach bar on the right with a restaurant on the right, but you have to pay £1.10 for a can of cake is not cheap, but we were paying that just to have a cold drink, if you went to the AI bit the drinks were served warm, in the end we went next door to the Days Inn beach we paid £1 for a bed including a towel, the beach was better, as you walk into the sea there are not big rocks just sand, the entertainment was fantastic, and they included us and the drink and food was probably half the prices or more then the Sonesta, worth a try!! All in all a very disappointing holiday, we meet some fantastic people who all felt the same way, All inclusive holidaymakers at the Sonesta Club were made to feel like 2nd class citizens, if you want a nothing to do but lie in the sun and be bored then this is the hotel for you. The good bits ... the resort is very clean and the staff were brilliant, Mohammad (tall one), Abrahim, Hassain and Hassam, were our favourites but even down to the cleaners very nice hard working decent people who do not get paid enough for the 14/15 hour days! Once the building work has been completed it will probably be better but we will never return and most of the families we spoke to said the same thing. We would go to Egypt again, but we would choose a better hotel i.e. Hyatt, Hilton, or Marriott.

We arrived back last week after a 2 week half board holiday. My main issue was the building works for the new (and very much needed) pools around the rear of the hotel and amongst 200 of the fully booked rooms. We were in a room next to the soon to be toilet block which was being converted by hand starting at around 7am each morning.
With the hotel at full capacity the existing pool can really hold around 300 and many people, us included, had to take the bus (5 minutes) or walk the 15 minutes to the Sonesta Beach hotel across the road to the beach or stay at the Club and towel on the grass areas. The sister Beach hotel looked much, much nicer and if we return we would opt for this hotel over the Club.
We eventually got a new room although many others did not!
The food is fairly plain and although HB we ate out most nights as liver, chicken and rice was not my scene every night. I did notice at reception on our last day that the menu choice for the day was on the wall and all nights were themed - Italian, French, Mexican, etc but I never noticed any difference.
We were a couple so we travelled into the Bay each night. Taxi was around 20 AEL (£2) but we did get stung by a taxi taking our note and them saying we had paid him incorrectly. The dishonest ones are few and far between but always agree a price before travel and make sure when they stop its not in some dark lay-by next to your destination.
Always get the taxi yourself as the 'touts' are not to be trusted! The hotel had 1 night’s entertainment for free which was not for us and the other night you had to pay £10 for - extra if you wanted the camel ride as well! I would guess with a family this may have posed a problem.
In terms of excursions we did Petra for £200 each and this was fabulous. Snorkelling, quad bikes and glass bottomed boats were amazing. St Katherines monastery was disappointing but I don't know what I expected to see with the burning bush and Moses' well!
Try the Camel hotel for a great and cool nights food and drink (one of the only places that has wine!) and the old Market (by taxi) has a cafe/bar which has traditional entertainment for free from 10pm each night. Drinkers beware - only certain restaurants can serve alcohol (they don't count beer as alcohol!) and all the cafes only serve soft drinks and beer.
I would return - this is our 4th time to Eygpt but our 1st to Sharm but maybe only for 10 days, try the Sonesta Beach or Hilton/Marriott and maybe at Xmas and not in 45 degree heat in July.

Just back from the Sonesta Club, went with my husband, 6 yr old son and other family which included a 9 yr old girl and was very disappointed. The hotel itself is spotless and the staff very eager to help although for a tip, which is recommended to be about 20 Egyptian pounds (£2).
The hotel advertises entertainment which when we were there was virtually non existent except for a Thursday night when they had Egyptian dancers and this coincided with the arrival of Thomson guests which was convenient!
There was also 1 night when you could book a Bedouin dinner followed by entertainment which even though we were all inclusive they wanted 100 Egyptian pounds (£10) per person including the kids.
There was also a bar where again they wanted you to pay for drinks and you had to pay for day time snacks even though these should be included in the cost of your holiday.
The food was just ok but mainly consisted of rice, liver and beef dishes, and the children’s menu was pretty much the same. On one occasion the chicken stuffed with rice that they had served the night before was in the kids section the following afternoon.
Since coming home last week we have gone to first choice and booked into their new holiday village for next year hoping for more success.
You should however definitely try the excursions they give a real taste of Egyptian life and are amazing and saved our holiday.

I have just got back from the Sonesta Club with my friend - and I can honestly say I had the best time ever! I have even booked to go back there in 10 weeks.
After reading some of the reviews on here I was a little dubious as to what and where I was going, but I wouldn’t believe a word some people say. The holiday is what you make it.
The staff were so nice and friendly, the rooms were fantastically clean, it’s not far from Naama' bay at all - I walked it few times and didn’t take more than 20mins even in the hot weather!
Ok the food was a little boring especially if your there for 2 weeks. We ended up buying food from the pool bar or going to McDonalds sometimes - trust me it was so cheap!
The only thing that was a shame is that the whole hotel isn’t all inclusive - just the pool bar - everything else you pay for even the other bars. But in between 5-7pm every night it’s free.
The pool area was lovely and clean. If you tip the staff at the start of your holiday they will look after you very well.
Any blondes going there be aware of men trying to take your picture is all I can say!
We went to the Sonesta Beach which was about 5 mins walk - and I really can’t understand why that hotel is a 5* as I really believe the Sonesta Club is much better.
Make the most of the entertainment team, we did the aqua aerobics with them, we did the dancing, stretching and went out with them.
Honestly it is a lovely hotel, staff are welcoming, and no complaints at all, you will love it!

When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by very nice staff and taken to our room.
We were very pleased with the room as it was a nice size and had a nice clean bathroom.
There were nice views of the hotel grounds from our room and it was very quiet.
The pool area was very nice but you had to be up earlier to get a sun bed for the day, the pool bar served you all inclusive drinks all-day from 10 am and they were very quick, so you never has to wait long.
The food was nice in the restaurant but sometimes it did get a bit repetitive, so some nights we took the hotel bus to Naama bay, where there are a number a places to eat and very cheap.
We did go to the sister hotel to the beach one day but we prefer to take a taxi to sharks bay as the snorkelling was much better.
We were more than impressed with our hotel, but I would not recommend the sister hotel the Sonesta beach as from what we saw was nothing like there brochure, it looked small and crowded; if that had been where we stayed I would have been very disappointed as it is supposed to have another star.
We would 100 percent recommend you to try this hotel and we can't wait to go again.
Oh and by the way as we were leaving they had just started to build another huge pool, to make it even better.

My girlfriend and I are just back from a week in Sharm el Sheikh staying at the Sonesta Club Hotel on an all inc basis. We both had a fantastic holiday with very few negative thoughts about the hotel.
On arrival we were instructed to leave our bags and the porter would bring them up to us. Now I have a problem with this as usually most people only have their foreign currency in large notes at the time of arrival.
Therefore our porter got a slightly larger than normal tip. My advice would be have a few single American dollars or pound coins for tipping on arrival.
Our room was a decent walk from the reception, bar and restaurant; however two young bucks like ourselves didn't mind it one bit. And it was really quiet at night as a results of being away from the main area of the hotel.
The hotel room was very clean with TV, fridge, air con (loudish but very effective!), toilet, and shower. A few things about the room: - it was quite dark due to a lack of windows and low level lighting.
The sink was just outside the bathroom (which I found a bit strange). And we had 2 single beds pushed together instead of a double. The veranda had a lovely view onto the lawns where there were palm trees and hotel workers working on the plants almost all day.
We liked our room more for the location but we could've complained as our friends we met did. They were given a room which was a bit more conventional, nearer the main reception and with a huge king-size bed. So it’s up to yourself if you want to cause a fuss and get the upgrade. We were quite content.
Our room belonged to a block of rooms which were looked after by the one cleaner, a very pleasant Egyptian man who offered to clean the room and change towels every day when we left to go to the beach/pool etc. Often when we arrived back the room was immaculate with the towels folded in nice patterns on the bed.
We never actually ate lunch the whole time we were there, however the breakfasts and dinners were buffets style every morning and night, with a great choice from fruit to fresh omelettes cooked in front of you for breakfast, and pastas, rice, grilled meats, chicken, fish, potatoes, gnocchi, soup salad etc. A very good range of foods which were all well cooked.
One thing about meals times was that the drinks were served from a drinks trolley (of which there was only 1) and it was often a bit slow to get around everyone. Drinks for the all inc guests were only served at a small section of the pool bar and in half pint plastic tumblers.
We didn't stay at the hotel for drinks much at night as we discovered that Naama Bay was very pleasant for having a drink. On arrival we were handed an envelope with water tokens, which basically allowed us 2 bottles of water per day between us, which you collect from a small area which also has orange juice and tea and coffee for the all inc guests.
The pool was always very busy and no chance of getting a bed if you arrive down there after 9 o clock. However the sister hotel (Sonesta beach), a 5-10 minute walk from the front of reception, across and down the main road had a fantastic pool which was very quiet all day long. Go there if you're a pool person and don’t mind the walk!
The beach is a further 5 minute walk from the sister hotel's pool, and is also quite busy unless you are there at 9ish. There is a bus that runs hourly to and from the sister hotel which is free and probably better suited for families with young children, as the road is quite busy.
There is a Sonesta club stand where you can get free soft drinks, pizza slices, and sandwiches for free between 12.30 and 4pm. No alcoholic drinks though, but the Sonesta beach bar serves full pint pitchers of local beer buy one get one free (2 pins for the equivalent of £2.20 if I remember right).
The beach is not golden white sand; it is a bit coarser. And you can’t just walk out into the sea with soft sand underfoot, it is quite rocky and there is a lot of coral so either buy water shoes with rubber soles or walk down the jetty to get in a bit deeper so you can just tread water or float or whatever.
Be prepared for the excursion guys asking if you want to book trips or get massages. They usually disappear with a polite but stern no thanks.
Back to the hotel, the staff were always happy to help. However the standard of English was not particularly good compared to other countries I have visited. But most could just about get by. There are a decent number of Italians who visit the Sonesta club, and the Egyptians seem to speak better Italian.
The main part of Sharm is Naama Bay, and a free bus runs to and from the centre beginning at 8pm and last pick up in Naama is 11pm. However taxis will take you anywhere you like and the normal price for getting back to the hotel was the 20-25 Egyptian pounds (£2 /£2.50) - agree this before you get in the car and make sure its Egyptian pounds he knows you was to pay with.
If you get the bus to Naama, when you get off for the 1st time, ignore the guys who want to ask you questions or ask if you speak English. They only want to try and get you into their shop. They are very clever however all you need to do is ignore them, or give them a stern no thank you.
We learned the hard way and ended up in a wee glass shop for about 15mins with no intention of ever buying anything and had to walk out during the 'hard sell'. The trick is, if you don’t want to buy it - don’t! Just walk out.
I would highly recommend going on either the twighlight cruise of the snorkelling cruise to Ras Mohammed. We saw dolphins alongside the boat both times, a magnificent sunset, and the best corals and fish ever (including a Nemo/clown fish!). You are well looked after on both, and even novice snorkelers will be completely safe, with water guides present, life jackets and floats all provided for free.
I would also recommend the a smoke with a shisha pipe (fruit flavoured tobacco), cocktails at the hard rock cafe, and a drink on the rooftop of the camel bar. There is also a very pleasant Indian restaurant in the reception area of the camel hotel.
A few last things. If you ladies are showing a bit of knee or shoulder, prepared for a few lasting gazes from the Egyptian men. My advice is just ignore it, or stare back looking annoyed - usually gets there attention and they break away. If you are shopping, your goal is to pay less than what you would at home for whatever goods you are after.
The haggling can be quite fun, just stick to your guns. Some shopkeepers act like they don’t like to haggle, but if you don’t you will pay more than normal.
Finally, try the Cleopatra Programme at the health club. Sauna, jacuzzi, body scrub, steam room, and then a full body massage. Absolutely brilliant.
I would definitely go back to Sonesta club, but probably on a half board or b n b basis.
Hope this review was helpful.
Gordon.

I had read other reviews before we flew out to this resort and was slightly worried about the standard of food especially the variety... I shouldn't have worried. The food was divine with a wide variety to choose from every day. If however, you can't find anything to suit your fancy, pop down into Naama Bay where every cuisine is catered for at extremely cheap prices (A 2 course chinese meal plus drinks for 4 people worked out at under £10 per head).
From the minute we arrived at the hotel, the staff were friendly, helpful and all spoke English extremely well, which put me to shame as I didn't know one word in Egyptian!! When we stayed, the hotel was mostly occupied by Russians who were extremely rude and obnoxious. It was a first for me as normally the English are a majority rather than a minority wherever I've stayed but a simple Please and Thank You goes a long way and the staff loved the English.
A note for anyone that goes is to tip your cleaner on the day you arrive. We did (it only has to be a few english pounds) and the array of objects made from towels I found upon returning to my room each day was a delight (flowers, swans and boats to name just a few).
Again make a point of tipping the bar staff on your first day and your drinks measures will increase dramatically also. People have commented on the beer being poured from the dregs of bottles in previous comments but they haven't explained the full story. Drinks are supplied in glasses, you are not allowed to drink from a bottle. A bottle of lager fills a glass leaving a small amount left in the bottle. This is then used for the next customer and topped up with a new bottle and so the cycle continues. In all the time I was there, a bottle was emptied no less than every few minutes. No-one complained about the alcohol at all.
The entertainment is the only slight let down for this particular resort as there wasn't a great selection during the week we stayed. However, Naama Bay is only about 10-15 mins walk away with lots of bars and restaurants providing entertainment nightly. If you choose to get a taxi HAGGLE the price. The most you should pay from Naama Bay to the resort is £20 Egyptian Pounds (£2 English) although we had a scouser with us who kept managed to get it down to £1.50... lol
Should you wish to watch the football whilst away, look out for the Tavern Bar in Naama Bay which is just off of the main strip. The food and drinks prices are extremely reasonable and they cover almost every game. We caught a couple of Liverpool games whilst there and everytime we scored the bar played "You'll Never Walk Alone"... truly memorable nights.
Any gamblers need to be aware there is a casino just across the road. If you do wish to gamble away your spending money make sure you take USA Dollars or English Pounds as you can't spend Eygptian money in there (although if you win, you're paid out in Egyptian Pounds???). Luckily for me, my partner only had Egyptian money when he visited so it was a very cheap night and allowed us enough spending money for the rest of the holiday... lol
As for trips, we went Quad Biking into the desert and that was fantastic. I'd never ridden a bike before but quickly got the hang of it and it was certainly value for money at £25 a head (that's English pounds). Other people within the resort had been on the boat trips and thoroughly enjoyed those also.
Anyway, for a first time trip to Egypt I couldn't have wished for a better place to stay for the price we paid. I will certainly return and next time it will be for 2 weeks as 1 week just wasn't enough for everything we wanted to do.
