Iberotel Palace Reviews
" Well worth a visit "
Submitted By: VanPackerThere are a good selection of bars and restaurants on the complex and we found the food to be varied and of a good standard. I got a bit addicted to the Egyptian spicy beef casserole and paid for my over-indulgence by suffering with an upset stomach for a couple of days. British remedies for this (such as Immodium) are useless and there is a chemist right opposite the hotel (in a modern shopping mall) who is very good at diagnosing and prescribing the correct curative tablets. Quite a few folk we met received Mosquito bites to the lower legs, so a repellent is advised.
Through the other side of the shopping mall is Sharm old town and in all the shops there are no goods carrying price labels ... everything has to be haggled for. Strangely, many of the 'Egyptian' souvenirs are mass produced in Asia so you have to shop around and examine everything to get a genuine article.
The staff in the Poolside Bar are really helpful and entertaining and again, I became addicted to the Iced Coffee recommended by Osama the barman. He has a great sense of humour and greeted us with, "Hello - I am Osama - but not Bin Laden so please don't shoot at me". He has a fantastic memory for names and room numbers and will have your drinks ready as you approach the bar then will chat endlessly about his favourite pastime of fishing in the Nile.
The rooms are spotless and are cleaned thoroughly each day (with a different 'towel sculpture' left on the beds. It's usual to leave the room stewards a daily tip of around 10 Egyptian pounds and they are very happy to get this. The massage parlour (my wife tells me) was brilliant and she felt great for days after a full massage.
A trip in the Glass Bottomed Boat or one of the Submarines is well worth taking as the aquatic life in Maya Bay is varied and plentiful. SCUBA diving and snorkeling is very popular too and the waters of the Red Sea are crystal clear, though I would advise wearing some form of beach shoes as the sand is quite rough and grainy. A free mini-bus runs into nearby Naama Bay regularly and this takes only a few minutes.
The traders and restaurant barkers in Naama can be a bit over-powering but there is certainly no aggression in their sales pitch and some of their remarks are quite hilarious. Be careful if you smoke as many of the brands are 'hookey' imports and you have to haggle for a decent price. Never pay any more than 30 to 40 Egyptian Pounds if you decide to use a taxi to Naama and agree the price with the driver before you get in.
There is also a 1 hour coach trip into the desert most nights where you are shown the night sky through the telescope of an Astronomer. This is followed by an authentic Egyptian meal with the Bedouins and this is well worth the trip. The day trip to see the Pyramids etc is very expensive at £199 per person (to fly to Cairo) and £85 to go via a 6-hour coach journey. Our opinion of how to get the best out of a 2-week holiday to Egypt would be to do the Nile cruise (Luxor, Aswan etc) the first week then spend the second week relaxing in Sharm.
Overall, the Iberotel (and our holiday) was excellent with the only downside being thumping music from an adjcent beach bar that started at around 4pm and went on until after midnight. (Our suite was closest to this bar) We are planning to return to Sharm el Sheikh later this year and would certainly chose this hotel again.

Advice: We are returning in November for another 2-week break
Activities: Snorkeling in Sharm el Maya Bay is a wonderful experience

Submitted By: BuktardThe staff can't do enough for you, they're also very friendly and polite.
The hotel it's self it beautiful, the food was great too.
We had no stomach bugs while spending our time there, which was quite a surprise.
just a few metres down from the hotle's pool the have their own beach, which was kept kept immaculate. On the beach there is plenty to do eg. water sports, cruises and short excursions. Our room where cleaned daily, thoroughly. The old market was a few metres away from the hotel, so if we needed anything we just nipped across the road to the old market. The old market often had entertainment such as; belly dancers, magic shows and other dancers. Namma bay was very commercial and entertaining too. Not far away was fantasia, a breath taking building!. There, we saw belly dancers and other dancing eg. Africano. I highly recomed this hotel as we had a great time and soon will be going back!
Advice: Amazing!
Activities: Fantasia and the Old Market
Good for: Beach

Submitted By: Mrs S HICKFORDWe booked two rooms, one for my 13 year old son and one for myself nad my partner. Both were right next to the lower pool, unfortunately, in my sons room on the first night he found he had a problem with some very large ants. We reported this the next day and the room was sprayed straight away...no more ants for the rest of the week, although on the last night he found cockroaches in his bathroom. So if you get room 2100 keep a look out for them!!
On our first morning I was really pestered by the beauty salon staff to have a facial, I felt rather intimidated, so went along. The facial was very nice, as was the face and neck massage, this cost me EL320 ( about £32), but I didn't like the fact that I was literally bullied into having it.
After this we settled into our holiday. The animation team were great fun, always trying to get you to join in with water gym, beach volleyball, boccia and water polo to name but a few of the activities. My son is very quiet and was quite happy to swim and relax, I joined in the aqua gym and my partner enjoyed the water polo.
The evening entertainment was very good, including a Fakir and fire dance, egyptian belly dancers, comedy show and karaoke.
The waiters and bar staff were always smiling and friendly. The buffet food was varied, but not that hot, but very edible.
Right opposite the hotel is a shopping mall, but if you walk through that you get to the old market. They do stop you and invite you into their shops but a firm "no thank you" and they leave you alone. It was certainly an experience!!
The Toscana and La Coupole a la carte restaurants were both closed during our stay, so our free a la carte meal had to be at the Ali Baba restaurant, which was ok.
We only did one excursion, the Stars and Dinner with the Bedouin. The dinner was standard food but to see the stars so clearly was amazing!!!!! The astrologer was very knowledgable!!!
The beach was clean and the free boat with Azizz was a great bonus.
We would definately go back to this hotel, we saw some of the others during pick ups and decided ours was defnately the best!!!!

Submitted By: Mr C ClarkinLunch at the beach bar was also good for snacks like Pizza etc. Drinks were a little
expensive roughly €7.00 for a vodka & coke or similar(not a big measure either). Bottle of Heineken costs about €3.00 (small bottle). However none of us had any stomach problems for the week which is pretty good consdering some of the stories you hear in other resorts. We had three children with us aged 10, 14 & 16 and they enjoyed the beach and water sports, snorkeling was excellent and free all you need is a snorkel and mask and the hotel boat brings you out to the coral reef every 30 minutes. The beach & sea are very nice and safe too. The hotel has free beds on the beach which are fine and come with large straw umberellas. Entertainment is the usual during the day including Bocca, volleyball water gym etc, the staff again are very friendly and good with teenagers and small kids. Night entertainment in the hotel is pretty desperate, however it suited us as we went for a quiet holiday going to bed around 12 and getting up early each day. A lot of older people in the hotel at the moment, not many young children around, pretty quiet in general and I would not recommend it for a wild holiday.

Submitted By: luckygolightlyThe weather during our stay was not always hot, a cold breeze was blowing and at nights a light jacket was required. I hope to return to Egypt one day but possible try another area - not that there was anything wrong with Sharm el Sheikh - but its a big world and I want to see other parts of it.

Submitted By: Mrs M ParkerArrived at the hotel and received a wonderful welcome room was excellent with sea view as I had requested. The staff are wonderful from all positions they hold at the hotel.
Outside of the hotel is the old Sharm market but you do get hassled but hey this is what they do, after all they are trying to make a living just smile and there is no real problem.
This was my husbands and my first time in Sharm and we will return next year this is ideal for a winter break.
Excellent beach and pool area so it is bye to the canaries and hello to Sharm in the winter months from now on. Well done Thomsons for helping us find this wonderful place.

Submitted By: Mr D KingIts a short transfer time, its clean, most if not all staff speak very good English, the staff can not do enough to help you and a small tip every now and then goes a long way.
The on site Dive centre staff are great and will accommodate qualified and none qualified divers. (Recommended)
I have never returned to the same hotel as I like to try new ones but this is a very strong contender for a return visit.
For me it is well worthy of the 5 Star it has been granted and would recommend it to anyone.

Submitted By: Mrs A FirmstoneThis is the only hotel in Sharm that has its own beach so that you can walk straight into the sea.
The staff are great right across the board.
Be mindful that you might get an upset stomach; this is probably due to the heat.
Can't wait to go back.

Submitted By: Mr S L ConwayThe staff fall over themselves to help you. They entertained our son constantly, and contributed to what was a fantastic holiday for us.
The hotel provide a babysitting service at extra charge, and there is also a kids club - although because our son was younger than 4, we had to accompany him.
The 'Old Market' is worth seeing a night if only to experience the arena area where the cliffs are lit up, and they often have music on with a great atmosphere.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Submitted By: Mr Stephen NimmoThere is some entertainment a resident singer at the top bar and local shows at times. Spent a lot of time in the borsolino bar it is just like the cheers bar on the TV had a good laugh in the bar usual karaoke couple of times and a few competitions in the bar. Stayed in the hotel most of the time no need to go out all their for you (fully inclusive) swimming pool small more of a plunge pool did not use the pool all our time spent on the beach only down side at times struggled to get a parasol as per normal Germans about. Also general manager German quite arrogant and seemed to acknowledge only his fellow country people not that I was too bothered.
All in all a very enjoyable holiday would definitely go back to the Iberotel palace advertised 5 star I would agree with the rating had a great time. Heard stories of people going out and about lots of hassle to buy by the locals but will say one thing felt safe walking around as plenty of police about. Find a good bar man give a good tip looked after all the holiday recommended

Submitted By: Mr S StocktonThe rooms are kept immaculately clean and the whole complex is kept to an incredibly high standard by an army of gardeners, maintenance and cleaners. The hotel is the old part of Sharm and the market is an experience not to be missed (not the sanitized Naama bay). Real people living a hard life. The people are so friendly but it does take a bit of getting used to just be polite and firm and they will let you go about your business.
If you want a relaxing time in great surroundings and a fantastic climate then Iberotel Palace should be seriously considered.

Tips to help you decide...
Personally we booked A.I - this is the best option, food & drink is varied, good quality & plenty.
You get FREE laundry service, so no need to lug around 23kgs of suitcase! (We actually used the service - no problems)
You get FREE mini bar (non-alcoholic only) each day topped up.
You get a FREE meal in their restaurant called 'La Tosca' which was fab.
You get a FREE 30mins massage in the health club.
You get FREE Tennis (if you can stand the heat!)
Other info...
There is a PADI dive shop in the grounds. Beauty shop in the grounds. Beach Bar. Tennis courts. Table Tennis. Gym. 10mins by taxi to/from Naama Bay.
The reason we have not given them the full 10 points is…
In my opinion I was expecting the beach sand to be less man made than it was, however please don’t be put off by this. Also the Health club staff were a little too persistent in trying to get custom.
Overall – A Fantastic Holiday! BOOK NOW!
