My boyfriend and I went to Egypt September 2008, it was the best holiday we have been on. The staff were very friendly, and always on hand to help if need be.

The pool was cleaned on a daily basis and always looked inviting.
Our room was cleaned daily as we requested it, the cleaners would leave petals on our bed or make some form of decoration on our bed with the towels, it was beautiful.

Being all inclusive we made a good choice. We ate out twice during our week stay in Egypt, and the food was good, neither of us became ill which is always a bonus.
We arranged trips to Cairo and quad biking with the people within the hotel, and we were not dissapointed.

Within the hotel was a spa treatment area, we took full advantage of it. It was fantastic. They did all sorts of therapies to suit all.

Throughout the week that we stayed at the hotel, they had live entertainment which was excelent.

We were only a short walk from the shopping centre, it was a really nice walk and you get to meet with the local's.

All in all it was a brilliant holiday and we will be returning back to this hotel next year.

I took my partner for her birthday in November 2007, i have to say it was a absolute dump. The staff just perved at my partner 90% of the time and this was very offputting for both her and me.

We went all inclusive and wish we hadn't, breakfast was either toast or manky fruit, lunch was fish stew, dinner was fish stew and snaks were burgers or salad.

The only good thing that came from this holiday is i proposed to my girlfriend and she said.....YES

Id advise you to pay a little more and get a good quality hotel....You will enjoy Egypt much better if you do!

Anyone on this site giving this hotel top marks is either being paid for it, works for the hotel, or is completely insane!!!

We have been to Egypt many times, and always happy with where we stay. Unfortunately because of a late booking we couldn't get any of the hotels we usually use. From the start, this holiday went wrong. One of the receptionists Ahmar we think his name was, is the most miserable, bad tempered and rude person we had met in Egypt. It was as if it were a bother doing anything for you and that was including welcoming you when you arrived. I had heard other people say that even the staff speak about him. He needs training in customer care.

Then there was the room!!....well....the minute the door was opened the smell hit us. The loo was worse. Everytime we turned on the taps the smell of sewage came up through the plug hole. The water was never cold and in Egypt we like our cold showers as it is so refreshing after a day in the heat. The bath would have been long enough for a dwarf. When we washed in the sink the water was leaking out from under a partly dismantled tap and onto the floor. The "bidet" part of the toilet was misaligned and when you put it on it squirted right out and onto the floor. There was dried in soap which had dripped from the dispenser onto the loo roll holder. Cracked tiles on the floor were a health and safety hazard and my husband told me not to touch the tv as when we put the socket in there were sparks and a crackling noises coming from it.

the balcony was enough for two stacked chairs and one small table. It was filthy, I had washed out some underwear and a couple of t shirts and put them over the rails to dry. they came in with green mould stains on them and then i realised how dirty they were. The balcony doors rattled in the slightest of winds.

The guy in charge at the pool bar was very morose. Don't know if he knew how to smile or not. You sign for anything you buy to be added on at the end of your stay, but you dont get a receipt. Watch out for that as i was overcharged. You are not allowed to buy food or water from outside, but we went to the supermarket across the road and bought our water from there as it was 50p cheaper than the hotel. We smuggled that and some eats in inside out beach bags and did that every two days.

We had breakfast one day but i wasn't feeling too well so only had a cuppa, and while leaving the restuarant i took a plate with some bread and butter saying i would eat it in my room when i felt a bit better. The guy at the door told us that if we did that we would be charged £1 for room service............we were taking the food upstairs OURSELVES for any sake!!!

Twice we ate in the hotel in the evening and it was the same food both nights, only two nights apart. It was bland, and cold and no choice whatsoever.

We took a hotel taxi once and the guy started swearing and shouting about his ex wife who had ripped him off. Would have been quite scary if there had been a single woman in his taxi.

As for the pool.......we never went in once. You couldn't see the bottom of it. It was cloudy and murky. disgusting.

Music played till all hours and also all afternoon. If we tried to have a kip it was useless.

Never again will i enter the doors of this hotel, which should be bulldozed to the ground, rebuilt with new management and a complete new crew of staff. we spoke to other guests and every one of them said their rooms stank of sewage!!

Stay away, you'd be better staying at a bedoin camp....at least they're friendly.

I went with my partner and when we got their they gave us a room with two single beds,we had requested a double.when i first walked in i wasnt expecting what i saw.it smelt damp and i was dissapointed.

The reception staff were not very friendly and i believe that what you see on here is not what you get,so overall i would not recommend this hotel.

The only good point is that your not to far from other places ie: naama bay.

you have a beach near which is 5 min walk but its not vey nice, theres no sand, the naama bay beach is the best so i spent alot of my time there.

last year my husband and i stayed in the grand creative for one week.we hated the hotel but fell in love with sharm. we returned home and booked to go back 3 weeks later thiis time staying at the cleopatra, i find it hard to understand how people can criticise the cleopatra. ok maybe its not a 5 star but considering the price of the hilton u dont really pay for 5star luxury as the price is so cheap. its in a nice location and within walking distance to the new shopping complex and also fantasia, which by the way is lovely at night time. for the less mobile the taxis outside the hotel are really cheap, friendly, and safe. whhat we really loved about the hotel was the fact that its small and personal. the staff get to know everyone and we met lots of nice people. entertainment...yes its basic but fun. the locals try their best to give u a really nice time. 3 nights a week a barbi is put on outside, all the tables are set nicely and the pool is all lit up . this is as a really nice and romantic feel to it; we were lucky we never came down with anything, we only ate out once and thats because we missed breakfast, the chef will make u anything u like even if its not on there menu his beef dishes are delicious. as for the staff, they work long, hard hours some only get a few hours sleep b4 they return to work they try their best to make ur stay ther an enjoyable one. when i left i cried as i wanted to stay longer. this year we returned with 6 friends but for 2wks instead of 1... the weather was really hot, sometimes too hot to do anything... it was nice to go back there and be remembered, all the same friendly staff. thaks to alex (entertainment manager) for always smiling and givin us a great time. thanks to rambo for bringing us endless glasses of wine? to mamood, lovely to c u again and to all the others worth ur wait in gold. by the way our rooms were spotless, clean towels and linen every day and always something pretty on the beds made from towels. an holiday is what u make it wherever u go in the world...like i said its not the hilton but its friendly, clean, safe and in a nice place. we r going back in october cant wait to c everyone again.

I came to the Cleopatra Tsokkos Hotel with a little apprehension as i had read similar review sites to this one and the reviews were less than perfect! The experience we took away from the holiday was amazing, we had a really good time and really didn't want to leave when it came down to our last day. As for the hotel - it's definately not 4 star as it was stated when we booked. The hotel may have been 4 star 20 + years ago but does need some updating to keep all 4 stars in my opinion. That being said the hotel and pool were very clean and tidy and the staff were amazing, they were so friendly and we have come away with some new friends who we will definately keep in touch with. It was quite difficult to get a good idea of what the hotel is usually like as there were very few guests when we were there so alot of the amenities weren't open like the shops and the main resturant. We made sure when leaving that we tipped the bar staff, our room cleaner who can make amazing animals out of towels, the masseuse and Alex who organised the entertainment and has more energy than anyone i've ever known and a heart of gold.

The hotel is within a good distance of Namma Bay and other local shops etc and the average price for a taxi was 25 Egyption pounds which is roughly £2.50, the only issue with being a little way out was that it was so hot that we couldn't really do anything during the day for risk of burning so spent most day times lazing around the pool in the shade and at the bar and then going out in the evening or late afternoon when it was much cooler. We spent most of our evenings in Namma Bay shopping and eating out, there are some great local resturants and a big tip is to eat at the resturants along the beach - they are very cheap with good food and good service.

Alot of the reviews here say that they felt the locals were trying to rip them off with taxi's, shopping etc... You do need to keep in mind that this is Egypt and where ever tourists go there is more opportunity for the locals to make money so they will try, they are only trying to earn a living and are still very friendly. You never feel unsafe like in other countrys but it can get a bit much when you just want to get to the end of the street. The hotel staff gave us some good price guides to go by and you just have to be firm and not pay more than you want to. At the end of the day there are lots and lots of taxi's and shops so you will be able to get it cheaper somewhere else, be prepaired to haggle like you never have before.

If you do manage to get out and about during the day Namma Beach is a good place to go, you can snorkle just off of the shore and see some amazing fish diving in and out of the coral. One of the things we really wanted to do was diving but realized that you have to do various diving courses depending on what you want to do and as we were only there for a week we just didn't have enough time which was a shame. You have to pay for the sunloungers and towel on the beach which were around 30 Egyption pounds each but you could stay there all day and night if you like - just make sure when you give the man the money you get your change - they tend to forget to give it to you!!

Overall i don't really have anything bad to say and we will definately be coming back in the future - only next time i will make it two weeks as one isn't enough to get everything done that you want to and still have some time to relax and be lazy.

After booking my holiday I decided to have a look at the reviews for the hotel and was horrified to see that approx 9 out of 10 of them were bad, not one to be phased easily I called the travel agent, after 45 mins of reassurance I decided just to go ahead with the original booking, what was to follow was almost the worst week of my life!!!!!

On arrival at the hotel everything looked to be in order, we went to our rooms put down the cases and headed out to get a few drinks before calling it a night. The next day we headed down for breakfast which to be honest was of a very low standard, I would only eat fruit salad but after seeing the same stuff out for 3 days in a row I had to resort to eating orange slices. We only ate breakfast for 3 out of the 7 days!!

The hotel itself was in a complete state of disrepair and was not kept to the standard of cleanliness you would expect of a 4*+ hotel. However not one to get down in the mouth on holiday i tried to make the best of a bad situation until I saw the state of the toilet brush, YUCK!!!!! From there it just went from bad to worse.

There are massage facilities at the hotel so seen as I was a little stressed decided to have a massage!!! BIG MISTAKE!! I ended up with a severe rash on both sides of my face due to the massage bed which was outside beside the pool. They cover the dirt with towels but i managed to get some photos early in the morning. Not once in the whole week did i see anyone cleaning the equiptment. I then had to spend £20 on anti histamines and cream, I was in agony for 3 days with the itch!!!!

Also one of the days we returned to the hotel to be insulted by a guy working in one of the shops in the hotel, the reception staff did there best to calm the situation but he was telling us to f*** off and security had to be called due to his behaviour.

That night we had a couple of glasses of wine on our balcony (which was big enough for 1 seat only), we took turns to sit out, when I came in i put my glass down for 5 mins and when i picked it up again there were 2 fruit flys in it, in the morning that same glass had almost 30 flies in it!!!

The bath got blocked, the shower curtain looked as if it had been up since the 70's with horrible brown staining at the bottom and i almost took a chunk out of my leg the night we arrived with the huge chip out the corner of the bath.

By this point I had enough I asked to speak to the Public Relations Manager, although helpful she basically palmed us off with a bunch of excuses.

A number of guests who stayed there at the same time came out in what can only be described as head to toe hives, i was lucky and only got approx 20. When i got back home i went to the doctors who told me they were more than likely bed bugs!!!!! Again I had to tolerate the itching from these bites for over 2 weeks and I have been left with what can only be described as scars!!!!! If you have to go to this hotel, please take a plastic sheet for your bed.

This hotel is a health hazard, plain and simple. There were pools of water left to dry in the accomodation blocks where plants had been watered and there were kids running around!! It just astounds me that this hotel has not yet been shut down!!!!

Was there anything good about this hotel????? The entertainment and bar staff and that was it!!! They were friendly and polite.

Please check out my photos if you value your life!!!!

Stayed at this 4* more like 2* hotel for 1wk, I wouldnt recommend it. It was to far out from Namma Bay and every time we took a taxi they tried to rip us off, if we agreed a price the driver would always have no change so they would always gain from you anyway, prices varied from £2 up to £7 hotel taxis no better than blue and white. On arrivel at the airport we were told to use blue and white taxis guy told us £35 to hotel that was the price, going back was the only good thing it only cost £8, so right from the start we were ripped off. Staff at the hotel were mostly nice some better than others but just make sure you tip them! always check your bills we felt reception staff tried to do us a few times. since returning home we've both been ill not sure if it was hotel food or not but one thing for sure we won't be going back to find out

I stayed at this hotel in Feb 08. It is not a four star hotel as it advertises itself. It is more like a one star. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel taxis are very good, safe, extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They will take and collect you were ever you wish to go. The SCUBA diving centre was outstanding. The health spar and gym were very good too. That said the hotel has a huge down side. The food is dreadful to the point if being dangerous to eat. The buffet style food is left out on the warm server for many hours only to reappear later. My wife became very ill 24 hours after eating their food. I would recommend that you don’t eat there. After the first day we only ate toast and coffee. A five-minute walk from the hotel there is an excellent little restaurant called Onions. Of course down town or in the old town many superb restaurants are also available.

The hotel management removes any food or drink that you bring into the hotel. This included bottled water. The entire hotel is extremely tired. Some bedrooms suffer from smells due to poor drainage. All the facilities are extremely worn.

I could not recommend this hotel to anyone. However many people staying at the hotel had stayed at it before and return time and again. I will not be one of them!

I have never been so ill in my life, arrived Tuesday evening 05 Feb B&B upgraded to all-inclusive on being told there was no where to eat locally and you can not bring food and drink in from outside.

There are places to eat and the hotel is not one of them, unless you like poor quality food served with chips.

Myself and 2 other guests had been told by our Thomson rep Emma that there had not been any problems with guests being ill (just read the other reviews).

I became ill in the early hours of Thursday 07 Feb, this kept me confind to my room for 2 days. The pains and the constant diarhorrea and sickness subsided for a day when I was seen by the hotels Doctor (Dr Costa) who informed me to get 2 types of medacine that will cure me, I nevr really recovered

On the 12th Feb I was finally moved to another hotel round the corner, still having problems with constant pains and sickness for the rest of my holiday and even now I am home.

I sent an e-mail to Thomson holidays whilst at the hotel saying I was thinking of staying at the Cleopatra but had heard there had been some problems with hotel, they replied a week later informing that there are absolutely no problems what so ever.
