Good location, unfriendly hosts
from mandcHants
Good location 20 mins from airport, only 2mins walk to beach. Beach itself is narrow, but long and good for children as is gently sloping. Plenty of shops for souveniers to take home. Many restaurants too, but beware of the ' frozen chicken on a stick style soulvaki ' served in many restaurants which is all uniformed sized small pieces of chicken browned off on a grill, as apposed to the large chunks of real chicken all different shapes and sizes which are served in the authentic Greek styled restaurants. We can thouroughly reccomend the Manir, down the road towards the sea from the Alamis, up some steps on the right, which served 'real' chicken Soulvaki ( and wonderfull king prawns!) For a quick snack, the Restaurant / takeaway at the top of the road on the opposite side does chicken / pork Gyros (Kebabs) for only 2 Euros and their great! Also after you have eaten anywhere, be prepared to constantly turn down the waiters at almost every restaurant you walk past, asking you to come in and eat. They are only doing their job I know, but it does get a little tedious after the first dozen or so requests! Also beware of kerbs on pavements, which range from none at all, to 18" or so to step up/down from. A few stray dogs wandering around but not dangerous at all, mostly looking for food. The Alamis owners/staff, as previous recent entries confirm, are on the whole not particularly friendly and rarely say hello to you, unless you greet them first. Its like they've got your money, the transactions done and you dont matter any more. Although we were given a top floor room which we asked for, when we were leaving to come home, we witnessed one family group with an elderly lady in a wheelchair given a room down a flight of stairs, even though the guy was saying he'd booked a ground floor room with wheelchair access over a year ago! The Olympic rep Stephanie was excellent and dealt with our enquirys perfectly and made up for the local Alamis staff. So to sum up, good location, basic but adequate accom, generally unfriendly staff, excellent Olympic rep. Would come to Tsilivi again, but wouldnt stay at The Alamis.
Very Basic
from holidayhannah
I have to say how rude the family who ran this accomodation are! We arived at the alamis in the early hours of the morning, and there was a problem with another families booking, so they had my boyfriend and myself standing around waiting for ages, I work at a travel agents and had made a special request to stay on a high floor (for the view etc), but instead they lead us down into the darkest dingiest part of the appartments and we had a ground floor room (which the family who arrived with us were supposed to have) they had requested a ground floor as they had two young children and were worried about them playing near a balcony. The family who ran this accomodation seemed to be very rude to young couples and families with children, it was obvious that these were not the kind of people that they wanted there. They seemed to only be polite to the elder visitors. The room itself was very basic, the cupboards smelt of stale food and there were only 2 plug sockets in the whole 2 bedroomed apartment (these sockets were in the bedroom and there were none in the kitchen) so we had to make toast and tea in the bedrrom. Also the pool was freezing, i only swam in it 3 times in the whole 2 week stay, it took my breath away it was just so cold. I do have to say that the location of the accomodation was brilliant 1 minute walk to the beach and 2 minute walk to the town, TSILIVI IS GREAT and i am going back there this year, but i will not be staying at the alamis studios again.
Great location tight miserable owners
from Billy-Snowy
We stayed at the alamis the first two weeks of july 07, stopping in a studio which was very small and very basic, the bed was like sleeping on a tree trunk and at 6f 2in I kept stubbing my feet on the raised end! the shower was something else - perfect if you're an umpalumpa! other wise you have to keep turning it on and off for a shower because its at waist height. Watch out for the cost of the air con, during our two week stay we discovered the owners seemed to charge different prices ranging from 40e to 80e . Also we recommend that you get a safe at 20e because some people we met didn't and they dicovered that money was missing and also a credit card. The owners make out that they are a nice family run business but they are very miserable and tight, they constantly watch and criticise the bar staff in front of customers. On the plus side the bar staff were excellent, Alex the bar man at night was really friendly and very helpful, his English was brilliant and if you wanted to know anything about the island eg were to eat or to visit he was better than google! The beach was just down the road about 2 mins walk (beautiful sea) and the supermarket next door, which was reasonably priced. Eating out, a good place to go is Romeo and Juliets gorgeous garlic mushrooms! Overall tsilivi was a lovely resort and the Alamis was in a good location and ok if you don't mind the above!
Watch Out !

The apartments are cleaned twice a week with a change of towels once a week. Kettle, Hairdryer, 2 ring electric baby belling cooker ,Electric Toaster & TV tuned only into BBC world News. Safety Deposit box will cost 20 Euros per week with a 10 Euro deposit. The rip off is the air conditioning costing 50 Euros per week, 60 Euros for two weeks, You require a remote control to operate the air conditioning, which is given to you once you have paid the charge. ( Other places I have stayed in the Greek Islands in the past, the cost was about 20 Euros per week ). The shower outlet is the type you hold to shower, it also doubles up as the bidet rise aid.......... The pool is kept very clean and to a high standard, there are enough sunbeds chairs and tables for dining and having a drink. A pint will cost about 3 Euros, John Smiths 4 Euros. The pool is open to anyone who wishes to use it including visitors from other apartments and hotels....... The lower floor rooms 01 to 07, when walking down the corridor there is the smell of sewage. The beach is just five minute walk, with the Tsilive Centre is about 15 minute walk. Do try the Water Park, it's a bit small but worth a visit. cost 17 Euros pp. "WATCH OUT" Cavo Grosso boat trip on the Delfini. The food and drinks are well over priced. The ship is slow so you have less time on your beach visit's if your lucky to get one & swimming duration. The whole trip was a total waste of time in fact 9.5 hours of sitting on a ship with wooded benches. Cost 20 Euros. The question would we go back. If we could have the same room (107) 95% yes well no ones purfect.......
Nice but small studio rooms
from skr80
Hotel Situated in a good location in the newer end of Tsvili (Planos area) off the main road. We requested a quiet room as other reports suggest noise from the bar/ pool in a number of the apps overlooking the area, and got a great room for this around the back of the hotel (appt 30b). Very small room, with two single beds. If you are tallish, the beds have a raised end, so you cant stretch out :( Bathroom also very small - door hit on the toilet as you entered. Cooking stove basic, but good fridge and hot water throughout. One big cupboard for storage, and a small table / drawer Aircon expensive @ e40 a week, as was the small room safe for e20. However, room was clean, cool, and quiet, and ok for a week. Food and Drink We found the Dionysis (set back off main road) to serve the best English Greek food, and (sadly) the asian Feast curry / chinese to have the best food. The other restaurants we tried were 'eat once here and we will get another plane load in two days to feed' type food. Edible but not great. Standard cost for two drinks and meals e30 in total Drinks wise, a lager in a bar varied between e2&3 a pint, compared with .85 from the supermarket. Beach Superb - very pleasant beach, warm water, and sand. Lots of sunbeds (not sure on price as did not use them). Overall - Tsvili (planos) was good for us to chill out for a week beach holiday, and not have to worry about odd food in a strange language. Would I go back there? Possibly if cheap. I have to say its lost its charm of 15 years ago and is more akin to any other European beach resort catering for mass tourism of the Brit food / beer / culture - and if thats what you are looking for you will enjoy it.
Great Location, Good Sized Rooms but Cleanliness Needs Improvement
from CuriousCally
The Alamis Studios are in a great location, only a few minutes stroll from both the beach and the bars/restaurants. The rooms are spacious and of a fairly good standard. The staff are friendly and helpful and the pool area looked nice. My main complaint is the cleanliness of the room and laundry. On arrival in the early hours of the morning a room was already prepared for us, but the sheets had huge muddy marks on them, not difficult to see, but apparently the cleaning staff had missed it! The overall standard of cleanliness was terrible, the towels must have been washed in mud and it was unusual to get anything that resembled white! Good job we took our own towels! The room was constantly gritty underfoot, even on arrival and stayed this way throughout the holiday. Thankfully, someone turned up daily to empty the bins but did not sweep and mop the room. I doubt that the room got wept at all before, during or after our stay and any mopping must have been done with dirty water as not only was the floor gritty but also tacky! I ended up cleaning the floor myself just so that I could stop sticking to it and I can tell you that the cloth was filthy afterwards! Another great annoyance was the disgusting smell in the rear yard from the rotting lemons and chicken dirt! Not very nice to breathe in during a hot summers’ day! Overall, due to the lack of hygiene, I wouldn’t recommend this as a place to stay, which is a terrible shame as it is an ideal location for anyone that wants to be near to the beach and nightlife but not be bothered with the noise from it.
Excellent

Me and my partner stayed at the Alamis in May 2007, we had a great time, we just wanted somewhere nice and relaxed and this was just the right place. We arrived early in the morning and our room was ready, over looking the pool and had a sea view, the room was nice. We went to have a look around and everything is in walking distance, the beach is only 2 minute walk away and all the shops and restaurants are just around the corner, we spent most of our time around the pool soaking up the sunshine. We met a lovely lady called Faye who works at the poolside bar in the days she is very nice. We went out most night for something to eat and drink the food was nice, I do recommend the Asian Place this was a very nice restaurant. Alex the barman who works at nights is a very friendly young man who speaks very good English, we spent a lot of time talking to him he is very friendly. I would recommend the Alamis it was very nice, and hoping to book again soon.
Excellent Location for Excellent Apartments
from Katiebudden
As a travel agent i knew that going to a 3* property in Greece was going to be basic. When we were on the transfer coach dropping people off i must admit i was a bit nervous. We arrived at the alamis and most of our coach got off. The first thing that hit me was the lovely pool area and the bar, everything was so clean!, then the marble stair way and reception i thought we were at the wrong hotel it was more like a 4*!. I went with my dad and my brother and the resort of tsilivi was lovely just what we wanted and it was about a 2 minute walk to bars and restaurants from our hotel!. We did not want lively, commercial and loud. It was within easy reach of the beach which was equally 2 mins away the other way down hill, we were there everyday. Going self catering was good because there was about 5 supermarkets within about 10 mins away, and the food was cheap. The onyl down point about the hotel was the other hotels (Planos beach?) karaoke evening which could be heard in the room even with the shutters closed. But other than that it was very pleasant. We had lovely weather and seeing the beauty of the island was amazing. Things i loved: Greek night The food The pool The apratment was clean! Overall my holiday was great except from the airport which is always a nightmare! but was expected so did not make any difference. I recommend zante to my customers who want a quiet resort but still with bars, restaurants and sight seeing. The alamis is an ideal base for anyone that wants to sample the sights of zante and be near the beach, restaurants and bars.
Even better 2nd time round!
from Brummie-Kim
I stayed here for my birthday July this yeatr, after staying July 2005, and it was just as great as before. Anyone that has been to Zante before knows that the Airport is an absolute nightmare and the thought of going through that and then ending up in a dump (which you do see people getting dropped too!) would distroy your holiday! Well belive me if you stay here, dissaointed is the last thing youl be. in 2005 we stayed in a 2 bedrm appt, which was great, on the ground floor. not really much of a living space but with two patios, your not really complaining! a double room and a twin room. and both patios have a "jump over" access to the pool area i.e. jump over your wall onto the grass instead of going all the way round. this year we had a i bedroom appt which only had twin single beds in, which me and my partner had to push togther. not the most comfortable as they were different hights. but again, we asked for a ground floor so we would have the "jump over" facility, and we got it. one thing, the showers dont have hooks. so when you want a shower, you first have to find the right temp, then wash yourself, turn it off to soap yourself and then turn it back on to rinse, otherwise you put it down and it goes crazy like a snake and sprays water everywhere! the pool is nice. nothing special. just a normal pool. freezing in the morining, pleasent in the evening and beautiful at night when lit up. depending on where you sunbathe, if you end up on the white plastic sun loungers, dont be a scrooge and pay the 1euro to get a cushion. Otherwise after an hour of lying on them, youl know bout it! Food there is nice. not overly exspensive - but then Tsivilli as a whole isnt much, and convienient. if you not on the ground floor and you have children, please please be careful of them running round if theyr jumping in the pool. the steps to get into the building are the only way in and they look leathal to anyone who's wet. Although i never saw any accidents, its obvious they could happen. the location is great. right at the top of the town so you can walk into the strip. no noise, not many bikers. beach is 2 mins downhill and is beautiful. strip is split in two with a mini slope inbetween. theres shops, supermakerts, retuarants and a Maccy D's but no duty free. My advice, pop into Zante Town for it, dont leave it for the airport. you WONT have time, and by the time you have got checked in, you wont be bothered either. Nice retsurants: Manos Grill - phoniminal, if i could eat there everyday, i would, trasditional greek food & Georgios - griil stuff like steak and chicken etc but with a little more class and pressentation care, and good service. Both restaurants are ALWAYS packed so make sure you get there early or late!both are excellent value for money. Tsivilli as a whole is beautiful, as my photos show!, but no suitable for anyone with mobility diffiulties, buggies/prams or wheelchairs. there are stairs everywhere, cracked and uneven pavement, and the cars and drivers dont care if your in the road, they will drive. We saw someone trying to cope with a large mechanical elecronic wheelchair and it was heartbreaking to watch them stuggle. if you have been sold a holiday here and you agent said it was fine, they're lying. i will be returning next year to see my friends Destan and Gang in Utopia and my mate Tolis in Argo Bar (thanks for the ABBA mate!). both bars are fab but Argo isnt as popular as Utopia. if you go please give Argo a chance. it has the best air con on the srtrip, geat sound system, air hockey, pool andthe nicest drinks on tap on the srtip. and it had CLENA TOILETS! a rarity! I hope you love Tsivilli and Alamis as much a me and my family! Enjoy!
Great Location...Good value for money
from Walsh_UK
The Alamis is a family runned property and it is run in a very personal and welcoming way. The beach is a 2 minute walk away, and the main shops, restaurant, bars are a 5 minute walk the other way. Tsilivi is a very friendly town and everything is easily accessible. The Alamis has clean rooms that the maids cleaned every day, towels/linen changed every 3-4 days but they are 3 star type rooms - do not expect any more! For value for money a great hotel - only downfall the pool is on the small side but being so close to the beach is a great advantage and the hotel next door The Contessina also allows public use of their pool - you will definately need an alternative if staying their in school summer holidays. Olympic rep was very efficient and the hotel staff are really welcoming and very good at their job.
I have been to the Alamis twice now, missed last year as (BIG) Bill, Patsy, & Mary were caught up with engagements, weddings etc. We are going again in a weeks time and cannot wait to see everyone there Denis (little sweetie) Anatasia, George again. We always have lovley... more
