" Good value for money "

Just got back from Akti we found it a very clean peacefull and very good value for money. The shop on site is very expensive so do your shopping in the large supermarket opposite Debenhams in Paphos.Always barter with taxi drivers cheapest we got a taxi was 8 euros. Use the dusty path to the bus stop 5 min walk ( remember to take a tourch ). If you use the road its 20 mins. If you like walking walk along the coast towards Coral bay and follow the path it goes on forever past the St George hotel past Laura beach hotel past Azia beach and onward toward Coral bay.

Advice: Yes good value for money

Activities: Sea side walk toward Coral bay

" avoid this accomodation!!!!! "

please stay away from this accomodation, on arrival all seemed well but oh were we in for a big suprise, only been at the akti for 22 hours when we decided to go in to pathos town to find a reasonable priced supermarket, when we came back someone had broke into our room 606 and had stolen 200 euros from my bag, we informed management and olympic rep and local police, local police dealt with the the awful experience fantastically, hasten to add the management and rep decided it was not there problem, Chris the rep dealt with the whole situation by choosing to ignore it and quickly ushered me away from reception so other guests could not here what was happening. i made a resonable request to move rooms as i did not feel safe staying in te same room, i was informed due to the cypriot holidays the hotel was fully booked and no other room was available. i then requested to move accomodation as my young child was so distressed at the thought of staying in the room which was broken into, again my request fell on deaf ears and i was pawned off. we had no alternative to return to the same room, during the same night my son woke up screaming saying he could hear noises, to my dismay our pattio doors has been wedged open and the bolt removed, again i reportd this to the rep/ management who again ushered me away. a different room was then found which we moved to i could not believe that the replacement roon had pattio doors which did not lock, this clearly showed that safetywas not paramount in this accomodation. i told the rep Chris i was going to inform all the english guests of my situation and the lack of empathy shown. i was then threatened to be evicted from the hotel from management and rep. i did find other accomodation in the pathos area even though the rep said none was available, i asked to be moved but was informed that i would incurr an addition cost of 1400 euros which was an option i could not fund. further to that we decided to grin and bare the remainder of our holiday at the akti, my husband found several pieces of glass in the pool which was also ignored, no pool drained or cleaned even though three children had cut their feet and needed first aid. supermarket on site was 350% more expensive than the supermarket in pathos town. please avoid this accomodation unless you want a dissapointing holiday. i am following my complaint up now i have returned to the uk.

Advice: avoid akti accomodation

Activities: anything but the akti

" relaxing "

Have sadly just got back to uk having spent a week at the Akti.Having read the reviews the night before we left,i was a bit sceptical! The Akti is clean and peaceful. My partner and daughter loved it.George in the restaurant is a legend!Nothing is too much trouble for him and all the team there work tirelessly in the heat from morning til night.Thank you so much for the wonderful time. The trip to the Blue Lagoon is a must if yu can do it!We fed the stray cats, and ond in particular a little female tabby broke our hearts to leave. We can't wait to go back. The half board is a great deal!

Advice: Peaceful and beautiful

" lovely resort but bad location "

having read mixed reviews on akti resort i was quite anxious before arriving there. apart from the extremely uncomfortable beds, our studio was very nice and spacious. we got the odd ant but nothing to worry about. our maid, Anna, was lovely and came every day apart from wed and sun. pools were clean and tidy as were sunbeds, with a magnificent view of the sea. no beach but shingle coves. the restaurant had a different theme every night. the food was excellent and great value for money. george the waiter was so welcoming. id heard bad reviews for chris the rep but i found him very helpful and sorted out any problems we had. the bad part for akti resort is the location. you have to travel by bus or taxi to see or eat elsewhere.there is a dirt track to the bus stop but dont wear best shoes. they will be ruined. buses are good value 1.50eu anywhere. always barter with the taxis. i found them to drop their prices easily. definitely eat at fat mamas. big portions and entertainment. i found eating out in cyprus very expensive since joining the eu, so be warned and take lots of spends. i loved akti resort but hated location.

Advice: lovely place but expensive

Activities: fat mamas

" brilliant "

my holiday at Akti Beach
where do i start..well im 14 and at the time i was 13, some people are saying that this holiday is not for kids my age, but it is. I really enjoyed this holiday and would deffinatly go back. The only down side i must say is the ammount of bugs you find in your room, but it didnt bother me. Also it was quite a long distance walk from the town and and nice quality beach, allthough there was a bus so this made it easier:) I thought that the tombs were great fun and worth visiting if you are bored. The food i really nice and yummy! There are 3 pools, 2 bars, 1 pool table, kids club, sort of beach but no sand which rather dissapointing but we just went to coral beach which was amazing! the staff were great and funny, rooms were big. I loved every thing appart from the location, which isnt that bad but OK xxxx hope you have as good a time as i did xxxx

Advice: Quite dusty but didnt bother me

Activities: the tombs, the town and laying on the beach

" Best Holiday Ever "

Where do I start. I was very apprehensive as I trawled through the internet to get as much information as possible as it was just myself and my 8 year old daughter holidaying. Came upon a lot of mixed reviews but it turned out to be the best holiday I have ever had. I must admit we didn't travel far from the hotel and spent most of the time in the pool, but that was just the holiday I wanted.
The hotel was really well spread out and easy to find your way around. Our Studio was very spacious, clean but could have been cleaner, adequate for what we used it for. Had an inland view from the balcony, but we could see the sea to the left and the mountains to the right. Food was fantastic, upgraded to half board on site as it worked out 90 Euros for 4 days. It was worth payng extra for the air conditioning if you go at this time of year as it was very very hot. Great choice of food and plenty to eat. The kids entertainment was great, not too much but enough to keep them amused. The pool bar was expensive as far as buying drinks and ice cream go (but I have since heard that Cyprus is expensive anyway). Food at the pool bar was reasonable in the day for snacks (large snacks) but The Taverna in the evening was expensive but you do get a lot of food. The Cocktail bar was also reasonable as far as food goes. The Mini Market catered for basic needs, water was reasonably priced her but not much else. Yes there were a lot of ants but they are half the size of what we get in this country and I only had a few in my room. You just need to remember that they will carry any goodies away that are left on the floor. Lots of lizards, but they are very friendly. Most nights me and my daughter spent searching for wild cats and lizards, she thoroughly enjoyed it. I never saw one gnat all holiday, I took loads of insect spray but didn't use it once.
Evening entertainment was ok(apart from Robbie Williams he was fab). The reception was comfortable if you just want to get away from it for a while and the reception staff bent over backwards to help. George the Restaurant Manager was a fantastic host, made my daughter feel really special. Chris - The Rep, can't say that I had much to do with him but everything was so straight forward I never really had to see him about anything. Becky was great with the entertainment, very helpful and approachable.
The walk to the bus, yes it was dry and hot but it took 10 minutes, so not a big deal. The beach is very rocky, but behind the Pool bar there is a little cove where you can paddle or even swim in the sea. Plenty of sunbeds beside the pool. I felt safe with my daughter not being by my side all the time, it was nice to be able to give her some freedom.
I didn't venture far as it was my first holiday abroad with my daughter, so as far as I am concerned I have been spoilt by this holiday. Just hope that my future holidays can compare.

Advice: Didn't really see much of Paphos but it was beautiful what I did see

" not for heels! "

Hotel was lovely, dirt path to bus stop was awful, so dont wear heels and have spent 2 days washing white tops cause of all the dust. I would also say that you are a number and compared to Crete you will not be treated nicely, i wouldnt go back to Cyprus.

" My Holiday "

The akti is a lovely complex with great ammenities. There was a fun mini club for kids. The entertainment was good.Food choice was brilliant. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The only downfall to it was the location as there is nothing in walking distance.Local bus services were very reliable and there is only 1 price for which ever journey you take.Paphos harbour is beautiful. The weather was exellent.Room and balcony was very spacious and cleanded regularly.

" my first holiday abroad.. "

this was my first holiday properly abroad and i was very nervous about how the hotel would be but thankfully we had a really good time.
akti is a complex of 2 floor apartments with a central reception, 3 pools, restaurants, bar, gym and a small shop. i was pleasantly surprised by our room it was on the top floor, very spacious and clean. our balcony had a nice view and we could see a bit of sea even though it was inland view room. the apartments look attractive with small gardens along the paths. reception was pleasant enough, though i didnt think much of the restaurants. we had to use the one on the lower floor on the night we got there, as we couldnt find anywhere cheap to eat. it was an 'italian buffet'. since we were cautious about eating meat abroad we just opted for some salad and pasta which really wasnt worth the 15 euros it cost.(the waiter was quite offended we had hardly touched the food!'
the pools looked nice and clean though we didnt go in, and the sunbed area was nice with a good sea view. there isnt much of a beach there, its more of a pebbled cove that fits about 5 people; coral bay is definitely the place to go for beaches.
i had read the reviews on this site and was well prepared for 'the dirt path'which leads to the main road. believe me you CANT walk to paphos from the resort; its a long way, very hot and the road is abit dangerous to walk along. we rented a car for 3 days and though i didnt use much of the petrol, it was essential for getting to town, coral bay, and bringing groceries back. the main road is fine to drive along, though the cypriot drivers tend to pull out without warning so be careful!
the town has a market area and harbour both accessible by bus. there are lots of shops but not many had traditional cyprus goods which was a shame, they are mostly knock off brand handbags/belts and opticians.
we only ate at a couple of cafes as the food is quite expensive its about £6 for a mediochre jacket spud. the cheapest place we ate was opposite the tomb of the kings, and the nicest food we had was at the Hobo cafe at the end of the harbour.
theres plenty of historical sights to see within a close distance- tomb of the kings is 5 min drive from akti, and at the harbour you can see the fort, and roman mosaics. coral bay is about 15 mins away and is absolutely gorgeous, the water is shallow and there are watersports availible.
monarch offered several excursions like mountain safari, daytrip to cairo, and a trip to go snorkeling at the blue lagoon. we wanted to go on this trip but unfortunatley didnt get round to booking it. the reps and staff were fairly pleasant at the resort. there was a kids club and activities for younger children 6 days a week- probably not best for older children they may get bored at the resort.
the only bad things about the holiday were: mosquitos, they drove me mad. there werent many but i had to buy bug spray to sort them out.
also, we arrived at the resort late afternoon and were left feeling a bit deserted when it came to food. we didnt get a map or anything until the next day, and the receptionist told us we could find a cash machine 'just at KFC'. well that turned out to be about 2 miles away and we didnt know where we were going and had to settle paying a fortune for the resorts buffet. if you arrive late and dont have a car id recommend just getting beans and toast from the resort shop! there were a couple of restaurants on the main road but i dont know if they are any good.
The isolation of the resort will certainly be a problem for young children or people with walking difficulties - rent a car!
best thing about the holiday: weather, coral bay beach and just being able to relax on a clean and nice looking resort

Advice: pleasant but small

" First visit to Cyprus "

Our first visit to Cyprus. Everything so well organized. Chris, the Olympic rep very helpful and informative. Everywhere spotless. Gardens all lovely and well cared for. Apartment spacious and well equipped. Pool areas very pleasant with plenty of sun beds. Food in restaurant excellent - plenty of choice and deserts to die for - no good if you,re counting calories! Although we were self catering we ate in the restaurant most of the time. We found all the staff very pleasant, courteous and helpful. We had a wonderful holiday and will definitely be back.
Maybe not too good for disabled due to getting luggage to apartment.

Advice: Lots of historical interest

Activities: Jeep safari toTroudos mountains and Mosaics in Paphos
