I have just returned from a week at the Akti and thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.
Having read some of the reviews on here before I left I must admit that I was not sure what to expect, but found the complex to be just what I was looking for.
Having arrived mid afternoon I decided to eat in the restaurant and enjoyed it that much that I upgraded on a special offer they had available, where it worked out that if you took the offer up for 3 nights you got a 4th free, plus your breakfast.
All the staff I found to be very helpful especially Heather and Lucy on reception who were very efficient.
My room was of a good size and was thoroughly cleaned on six of the 7 days I was there, with the towels changed every time.
Yes, the complex is situated on the outskirts of Paphos, but not everyone wants to be in the middle of the action, and at least you could relax at night in the knowledge that you would get a good night’s sleep.
You could catch a bus for 80 cents at the top of the road, or get a taxi for 5 Cyprus pounds, and if you shared, it was even less.

There are a few points that I would like to make about our stay at the Akti:
1 The bathroom door in the apartment was damaged (it had a hole punched in it).
2 We requested a plug for the bathroom sink which we didn't get and therefore had to wash under running water which was a waste of water.
3 The room in general, although not dirty could certainly have been a lot cleaner with mould in the bathroom and round the kitchen area.
4 It was very dark near our apartment and had 2 high steps with no rail and as I do not have good mobility it was quite dangerous.
5 The food in the restaurant could have been warmer and be less oily.
6 The price of drinks in the restaurant was high it was 4.75 Cyprus pounds for a half bottle of wine.
You could buy a whole bottle of the same wine for less than 2 pounds and although I appreciate that profits have to be made I think that this was excessive especially when you cannot take drinks from the bar into the restaurant (they are taken off you if you do.
Having been to Cyprus on many occasions, this is the first time that I have been disappointed by a hotel that we have stayed in.

We stayed at the Akti for 1 week in March 2007. It is really in the middle of nowhere and car hire is a must. There are no local bars nearby where you can walk at night, only residential villas. We had a taxi from the airport which cost us £20, rip off number one.
Although the hotel was spotless clean, that was the only good thing. Upon arrival the staff did not inform us of any of the facilities available i.e. air conditioning, indoor swimming pool, sauna, tennis courts etc.
The first morning the breakfast was stone cold, swimming in fat and totally inedible. This continued throughout the week, even though I had complained, as had all the other guests. Yet stone cold fried eggs and bacon were served every day.
The restaurant staff had a serious attitude problem and we felt as tourists the atmosphere within the tourist village was quite hostile.
Moving on to the evening meal, this was also inedible. All we ate was the soup and bread rolls all week. The same desserts were served night after night. No member of staff seem to care about the food that remained uneaten at the end of service. Everything (including the vegetables) was swimming in oil.
We sat in the lounge after dinner and a mother and daughter ordered from the bar menu every night even though they had upgraded to half board. The food served there was totally different and looked acceptable.
Many people complained of upset stomachs and the doctor visited 4 times in the week that we were there. If you are going, certainly give the food a wide berth, it is revolting.
As we were not told about the heating remote control, I slept in my clothes all week, freezing at night. I found out about the heating on our last day. Some of the guests had also been asked for £1.50 per day extra if they used the heating, plus £5.00 for the remote control. There were no television channels while we were there either.
The only ray of light in this hotel was a lovely, friendly barmaid from Bulgaria!
I would not go back to this hotel and certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone either.

The Akti hotel was one of the best hotels I went to it was clean and the help was very nice and didn’t mind helping you in anyway.
I went there with my mum, dad, brother and my cousins. The pools were great and the view was fantastic!
We had a lot of fun and I enjoyed it a lot! The only thing I noticed was the pools tiles were a bit sharp in places but other than that little detail it was fantastic, I loved the holiday!

My wife and I went to this resort for peace and quiet after I had recently had surgery.
This is just what we got, from the minute we arrived at the Akti, we were shown nothing but helpfulness and nothing was too much trouble. Our apartment was very spacious and apart from some minor things, it was very clean and perfect for anyone wishing to go self catering.
The cleaners came in on 4 of the 7 days we were there, but beware, if you want to keep any clean towels for the following day, don’t leave them lying around as they will be replaced by new ones even if they are spotless.
We upgraded to breakfast (2 cyp pounds) more than worth it, as there were continental, cheeses, meats, croissants, jams etc. also fruit, cereals, toast, then a full English,(a choice of scrambled/boiled or fried eggs) so that was perfect. And you can keep going back as many times as you wish.
We tried the restaurant food at night as well, standard charge of 8 cyp per person. It was very nice, with a different theme i.e., barbecue, Greek, roasts, American, every night. The dishes are a bit repetitive if you don’t eat anywhere else in Paphos, but still very nice.
The staff are very friendly and courteous, and as soon as you have an empty plate it is removed. So no rubbish all over the place, superb views from the restaurant, overlooking the pools and the sea.
Although there is no beach, there is a nicely maintained grassy area that leads down to the water, with plenty of loungers provided free. There is a very nice and comfortable lounge area in reception with plenty of nice furniture and also plenty of TV sets for you to watch. BBC,itv, sky sports etc, you cant get these channels in your apartment, there are about 7 or 8 foreign ones, and one sky news channel.
But we weren’t in Cyprus to watch TV. There is a nice lounge bar as well, and they serve some nice snacks.
As well as providing waiter service for alcohol, teas, coffee etc if you want to relax in the lounge. One of the major problems we can see for the less mobile or elderly visitors are the subject of buses.
There is no a bus stop outside the hotel, it is approximately 1 mile away on the main road. We walked it one night, the first part from the main road is unlit so take care. There is a track behind the mini market that leads you up to the main road, approx 400 yds which we used everyday, but for the elderly and disabled it is not recommended (especially at night as there is no lighting)
So I'm afraid it would have to be taxis. Don’t let anyone tell you it is a 3km walk to Coral Bay, we walked along the coast for approx 2 hours and then got on to the main road where we found the sign saying coral bay was still 5kms, so at a guess it is 3 to 5 miles to coral bay. Buses are frequent and very cheap 80 cents from one end of Paphos to the other.
If you like your food, try Fat mammas, massive portions (closes down from mid Nov to April) Chloes Chinese, (superb) both on the tomb of the kings road as you go towards Paphos, many other restaurants too numerous to mention.
The Moorings is very nice on the seafront in Kato Paphos, try the Stifado, people all over were very friendly and eager to please.
All in all a lovely relaxing holiday, we would certainly go back to the Akti (3stars not 4)
For those of you doing car hire as part of your holiday, beware because when you go to sort out your vehicle in the hotel, the rep will start asking you for collision waiver fees, and other various extras. So I would sort this out with your tour operator before you go, as you may get a shock if you leave it till you arrive.
A perfect place to stay if you are wanting peace and relaxation, and also no sign of any drunken loudmouth idiots, this resort is too quiet for them.
As we said before, if you are not fully mobile or disabled, then the buses may be a problem, but don’t let it put you off as there are some lovely sights to see in Cyprus.

Both my wife and I have once again returned from a fantastic holiday in Cyprus, for those who have never been We would suggest that you make your next holiday a must in Cyprus, especially Paphos.
The people of this Island are so helpful and cheerful and nothing is to much trouble for them, the food can only be described as over the moon, you are spoiled rotten everywhere you go, the only down side we had was the building of new properties but in saying that I can understand why so many people want to live there and the reason new properties are being built in such a large amount.
Now to get back to the Akti Beach, this is the first time that we have stayed here and we certainly chose well, from the maid service, reception service cleanliness to the resort activities plus the pool facilities and last of all the in house food facilities we would readily recommend to all types of families, we liked it so much that we are already planning to return when holidays permit.
We would like to thank all the staff who were on site when we were on holiday and we would like to thank our house maid who was always very helpful and cheerful during our stay and of course our thanks go to the restaurant staff for being excellent.
Top marks all round.

Just returned from Akti Beach and it was amazing! The staff go out of there way to help you and are all very friendly, especially Kay on reception.
Olympic Holidays were fantastic from start to finish and the rep Katy was very helpful. Car hire is an absolute must. They had a good deal with free days given.
Excursion highlights are the Troodos Jeep Safari. Get to see all the beautiful areas. Wouldn't fancy driving it myself! Our driver Akis was very entertaining I have to say!
Food really good and wide choice every evening. Special mention to George and his team. Always smiling!
Would definitely return to Akti Beach!

Booked online with Olympic, very easy! Once I had booked I read a few bad reviews which worried me but on arrival was very pleasantly surprised. The location was fantastic, just a short bus ride away to Paphos town centre or coral bay in the other direction. We went for 10 days and spent a few days at the beach in Coral bay, very clean. Traveled everywhere by the excellent bus service 80cents and if we wanted to stay out late got a taxi 5cyp. Could not fault the apartment, very spacious and clean, didn't have air con unit but would another time even though expensive.
Staff were very friendly and the food at the pool bar which became a taverna at night was excellent, my husband said that the spag bol was the best he'd had!
We took our youngest son who was 16 with us and worried at first that there might not be enough for him to do but we didn't see much of him, Mario the entertainer got him joining in water polo and killer darts and he had a great time!
I was sad to leave as the Akti made us feel very welcome, it was also our first visit to Cyprus and we loved it. I would highly recommend Akti to anyone who wants a base away from the hustle and bustle and will definitely go back

What a lovely relaxing holiday my wife and I had. Our apartment was clean and the maid service was good, the main swimming pool was fantastic, the pool near the shop was ok apart from the drains smelling. The food at the pool bar was good at night the food from the main restaurant was first class. During the day there was plenty of sunbeds to be had at any time. The staff where very helpful and could not do enough for you. We booked up on line last thing and what a good decision we made and cant wait to go back next year I would recommend this place to anyone and [oh my god try the French boules darlings] other satisfied holidaymakers will know what I am talking about.

This was a fantastic, restful holiday. We would definitely go back again!
Weather was beautiful. Did not have to fight for the sunbeds, which was great.
Food was gorgeous..... We particularly enjoyed eating several times at the tavernas. The cats got fed well too!
We stayed in a studio apartment which was spacious enough for the two of us. We had a slight ant problem but managed to get this sorted out quickly. Apart from this, maid service was excellent, fresh towels daily etc.
Mario the entertainer was hilarious, we enjoyed his sense of humour i.e. "SABOTAGE", "SHAKE YOUR BODY DARLING" (I could go on and on). Also the staff were very friendly at the Serina bar.
All in all we had a very enjoyable 2 week stay here and look forward to having another restful holiday there next year!

I have to say that when we read the previous reviews it left me and my husband a little apprehensive. On our arrival we were greeted by English staff, who answered all our questions. Our room was large (there was only us Two) and we had a terrace.
The main pool was my camping ground for the duration of our 14days and it took my husband quite a few attempts to remove me.
The beach is tiny, however we found it peaceful and times it felt like our own private cove.
The walk up the dirt track was easy (not a 15 min walk) but a 5min one.
Pathos harbour was typical tourist trap, although there were a few nice restaurants.
We upgraded to half board on our arrival, this saved us a small fortune and the meals were very good.
Overall I will return to Akti along with our children, in tow for Bingo Bongo and the friendly reception, although I recommend using Factor 50 has it reached 145 for most of our stay..........

After a long journey you are asked to fill in a form of questions when all you want to do is get your key and a cold drink.
If you want peace and quiet you certainly get it.Rooms clean, 3 stars not 4.
Not a lot to do we soon learned, you had go to the harbour for bars restaurant ect. No shuttle bus to take you into town. You can catch the local bus, you can go the road way along walk, would not like to think of poor families with small children having to walk all that way. You need a shuttle bus to take you to the local bus stop.
You could use the dirt track at the side of the restaurant, depending on how fit you are and able-bodied could take 15 -20 min, then you have to get across the road carefully to catch the bus a bit further down.
Would not recommend you to come back that way at night no lighting at all.
Staff are all very nice at Akti. I and my husband did not like the restaurant meals or rate the breakfasts. The food was never hot enough.
The bar were the entertainment is on at night do large snacks they were very nice. The taverna was not bad at least you got your meal hot.
Could go on forever about what we didn’t like about Akti village but everyone likes different things.
We wouldn’t go back, nothing in the surrounding area, nowhere to go, nothing to do!
