I have just returned having stayed for one week at Akti with my mates.
Loved every minute of it! Could not fault Akti in anyway, the apartment was always cleaned throughout every day; the pool area was well maintained and very clean.
The main bonus was that you never had to fight for a sunbed, as there was always loads around the pool or on the grass area with a sea view.
The entertainment around the pool was brilliant and fun for all ages!
Food was lovely, we ventured out most nights as there is so much choice in Paphos town, we did eat at Akti on the first night, and the food was lovely.
I recommend fat mama’s restaurant in town you cannot believe the size of the portions amazing, plus they have entertainment!
I would definitely return to Akti again and hopefully will do in the future.

I've just returned from a one week holiday at Akti Beach in Paphos.
The hotel is smart, the reception area is very tidy and comfortable, the pool areas are great...very clean and safe, always plenty of sunbeds by the pool or grass area overlooking the sea. The entertainment is great for adults and kids; everyone looked to be having lots of fun.
The complex is a 10-15 bus journey from the centre of Paphos but this wasn't too much of a problem. Many people hired cars for a few days or caught the bus.
To get to the stop you have to walk up a dusty path which was ok during the daytime (very hot and exhausting though in July!) but definitely not at night as there's no lighting.
Taxis cost £6 to/from town but many try to rip you off so agree this amount before you get in the car. Make sure you also wear your seatbelt! It would be a good idea if a mini bus service was set up to run people into town.
Even if it ran once in the morning, afternoon and evening it would help. If you want to be in the centre of town or have walking difficulties do not go to Akti.
I travelled alone and was a little nervous but this soon passed. The coach driver taking me to/from the hotel was a little too friendly but I think this goes with the job! The staff at Akti were all very friendly and the locals are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble. The down sides (for me) were ants in my room, on my balcony...everywhere!
When I arrived I found ants eating a piece of stale food underneath the cooker. I moved studios but had to wait three days. I always kept my food wrapped up and put away in cupboards or the fridge and my windows closed unless I was in the studio.
The cleaning was not up to scratch. There was hair in the plug holes, dust behind the bedside cabinets and grease around the cooker. I know the complex is large and am sure the cleaners work very hard (in those temperatures) but I felt they could have done a better job (or look at employing extra staff.)
I also think the air conditioning should be free. (Mind you, I did have a TV with two/three English channels so that was a huge bonus.).
On three of occasions I decided I’d had enough of eating pasta (and cereal in the mornings) in my room so upgraded to eat in the restaurant within the complex. This was a good decision! The food was outstanding, lots of choice, hot and freshly prepared. Eating outside in the warm night air was lovely. The staff were great, always smiling, and chatting (and yes, George was lovely!).
One day I went to reception for more information on particular places of interest in Paphos and the receptionist (Lucy) looked at me blank and said she didn't know where these places were and told me to go to the tourist information centre in town!
The shop on site is expensive so go to the supermarket in town, its loads cheaper.
Cyprus is quite an expensive place and the exchange rate against the British isn't good but they are changing to the Euro in January '08 so providing our pound remains strong, travellers to Cyprus should get a better deal.
I was sad to leave and will try return soon...at a cooler time of year. I'll bring my driving licence next time so I can hire a car (oh, they drive on the same side of the road as us!) and explore more of what Cyprus has to offer.

Just got back from the Akti a couple of days ago, so wanted to review it while the tan was still fresh!
I read a fair few of the other reviews here before I went, and to be honest I don't know where some of these people were staying :) Then again, everyone likes a different holiday, and the things we liked might not be so good for others.
The Akti is on the outskirts of Paphos, so the surrounding area IS quiet. For us, that was a bonus - we hired a car for 3 days to explore, and lazed around the pool/beach area the rest of the time.
The bus stop is 5 mins walk away (for us, pushing a buggy - other people here said it seemed further), buses cheap and frequent enough. The hotel is situated right next to the sea, and the main building itself was really nice and well laid out. Loads of sunbeds, plenty for everyone, and the pool was very clean.
Our room was of a much higher standard than most Cypriot or Greek accommodation I have stayed in - cleaned daily except Sunday by the lovely patient maid. Fresh towels daily and basic cooking facilities, fridge, TV etc. We also had plugs for all sinks/baths which is a novelty abroad.
The aircon cost £20 CYP but we got £5 CYP back at the end of the week, so only £15 CYP in total. We have an inquisitive toddler, so had to really watch him near the cooker, plug sockets etc, but then I wouldn't expect the whole place to be toddler proof and it was perfectly safe and clean for him. The travel cot provided was absolutely fine.
The best thing about the Akti was the food - I have read some bad reviews here and I can't work out why! Well I was there a couple of days ago, and the food was fantastic! There was loads of choice every morning/night, food was hot, not greasy, healthy options and veggie stuff all there.
We ate far too much every day because it was just so good. There is a different theme each night - there is always soup, varied salads (really good stuff), then hot food i.e. carvery, tex mex, Italian, Cypriot, gala buffet themed. The breakfasts included fruit, bread, toast, meats, cheeses, dried fruit, bacon, eggs, omelette, yoghurt, and lots more.
The second best thing was the staff - all really friendly and nothing too much trouble. Especially George, the head waiter in the restaurant, who was really lovely and took time out to chat to us every night about Cypriot politics - a very interesting guy.
The worst bit (if I had to pick anything) was probably the prices in the shop, but we just headed to the big supermarket in Paphos anyway. Also as someone else said, there is no deadlock or chain on the inside of the door, so a small child can open it and run outside easily.
The kid’s club entertainer, Lara, was very nice but kept leaving the gate open so that kids could just walk out - but then children are also supposed to be supervised by a parent anyway.
I don't usually want to go back to the same places on holiday - I like to try somewhere different each time. But I will certainly go back to the Akti again - highly recommended.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a week in Akti beach. It was spotless with the maids coming in six days out of the seven we were there.
We do recommend that you do not shop in the shop in the hotel, we found a supermarket that was quarter of the price, you really do have to shop around as it is very expensive.
The night life is very good in the town but you do need to get a taxi as it too far to walk.
If you want a wild holiday this place is not for you, if your wanting a relaxing holiday this is the place for you. As not much to do but lie around the beautiful pool.
We also recommend that if you upgrade to half board as the meals are fantastic, and well worth the eight pounds a day for breakfast and evening meal.

I won't go over every aspect as most covered by other reviews already posted.
Location: bit isolated. We went for 10 days (2 adults, two children) and hired car for 7. We felt a bit marooned there on the days without the car. To get to bus stop is a fair old walk in the heat.
You can get to the start of the main bars / restaurants on main road south towards pathos in about 25 minutes walk if you walk across the waste ground on south side of Akti and then along edge of busy main road in the heat and dust on the rough edge of the road (feeling a bit unsafe due to traffic).
We booked car in UK through holiday autos which use Europcar in Pathos. The Europcar car place is about 25 minutes walk from Akti going south on main road (just behind the Esso petrol station).
Quality of Self catering room (one bedroom apartment): not enough storage for clothes etc. Four hangers for four of us. Kitchen facilities a bit lacking. Chopping board had mould growing on it. I know not many people use that stuff but it all needed a good clean. Dirty tiled floors which made your feet black. Grouting and sealant in bathroom dirty and horrible looking.
Looks like the room's been tarted up quickly at some time in past with a repaint in white as there's plenty of paint splashes here there and everywhere. Door and window security poor, door had been repaired around lock, looks like someone had broken in - and could very easily be done again.
No way of deadlocking door on inside, so any wandering / sleep walking children you might have can just walk out by turning the low door knob.
Air Conditioning: will cost 2.5 Cyprus pounds (about 3 British pounds) per unit per night. One bedroom apartment has one in bedroom and one in living area, so for 10 day it would cost about 60 British pounds in total.
Inflating your inflatable pool toys: a plus point here, you can do this yourself free of charge outside the mini-market on site shop.
Main Pool area: good if 1.4m depth is good for you, the main pool is that depth all round. If you have kids under about 10 years old then that could be a problem, unless they are so young that the paddling pool next to main pool suits them. Just enough sun beds for everyone when we were there.
I would think Akti got its 4 stars for its general pool / bar / reception etc areas which are quite nice, but I was expecting a nicer self catering apartment than we got.

What can I say, it was a great holiday.
Great place to stay. Food and entertainment were excellent. The rooms were cleaned every day. All the staff were very friendly, and Adel the adult entertainer was brilliant. (mishy mishy).
Could not fault anything on this holiday and would recommend the Akti village to anyone. Will certainly go back again next year.

We spent a week at the Akti beach on a fact finding mission for our wedding next year, we found the staff and complex excellent. So we have decided to get married at the Akti we liked it that much.
We arrived early morning and were greeted by Helen on reception she was really helpful, we had requested a 1st floor apartment on booking but were allocated a ground floor on arrival a quick word with Helen and we were moved to first floor with a sea view.
Chris the Olympic rep was excellent very friendly and helpful, the entertainment staff (Adel)worked really hard from water polo, darts, French bowls through the day, we only stayed for one nights entertainment and watched a parrot show followed by a disco and Adel was still working hard comparing.
The cleanliness of the rooms were adequate and were cleaned four out of six days
There were some ants in the apartment but we mentioned this to Helen and the room was sprayed within minutes, no more problems.
The food and drink around the pool bar was good and reasonably priced. We only had one meal at the restaurant and that was the BBQ and it was excellent.
Yes it is a bit off the main road but a taxi to town or coral bay will cost you 8-10 pound or through the day the bus will cost 80c but make sure you use the dirt track just past the kid’s pool 5-10 mins to bus stop.
Look forward to going back next June.

Myself and my son have just returned from 2 weeks staying at Akti beach and we had a fantastic holiday.
The entertainment staff were outstanding Adel was the adult entertainer and had everyone in fits of laughter the whole time, Jenny the kids entertainer (new to the job) was lovely and we became good friends, so if you’re going out there soon please look after her for me.
The resort is only a short bus ride away from the town centre where we found some great places to eat and drink. A great English bar to visit is Charlie’s, the food is brilliant, and the staff make you feel really welcome.
We enjoyed our holiday so much we plan to return to Akti beach next year.
Unfortunately for anyone heading out there the best waiter at Akti beach has left, his name is Yani and we had a great time with him, he was great at his job and was a big hit with everyone.

I've just returned from Akti Beach after a week’s holiday, I haven't stayed in an apartment for 10 years (I usually have a villa) as I like peace and quiet.
I was very impressed with Akti Beach and would recommend it to anyone.
The apartment we had was spotless, the cleaner came every day except Sunday, and brought clean towels every day.
The last time I had apartment holidays you were provided with 1 toilet roll then you had to buy your own, not so at Akti Beach.
All the staff were very friendly as was the Olympic Rep Chris Evans.
The food at the Taverna was as good as I had anywhere in Paphos.
The bus stop is a short stroll away and the buses run everywhere every 15 minutes. A car make life a bit easier, we hired one via Olympic and the price was competitive with anyone else.
There is access to the sea via some steps and a pebble beach.
The entertainment was good.
All in all I couldn't find fault with the place. And if so inclined to return to Paphos then I would go back to Akti Beach.
Before we went I read some of the above comments with trepidation wondering what to expect.
Expect a good holiday if you go.

Had a really good time at the Akti. Drink prices are not much different to in England so it helps to take it easy.
Food was good although we ate out most nights where we found a fantastic taverna who's food was divine.
The Akti is quite a distance from any amenities so you have to make sure you take comfy shoes as you’re in for a good 40 minute walk. Taxis are only cheap though so it doesn't work out to bad.
Overall view of the AKTI: Food: Mostly good - enormous amounts so you can easily share with somebody.
Drinks: 2 happy hours with a good selection of cocktails.
Hotel: Absolutely spotless and beautiful. Two good pools.
Entertainment: Adele - you were fantastic!
Fab holiday overall.

Right let’s set something’s straight about this place. My girlfriend and I have just returned from the resort. The Akti is a great place to stay with really helpful staff great atmosphere facilities and rooms.
Had such a nice time relaxing, the food in the resort was very nice and always piping hot and the food by the pool was excellent to.
Don’t listen to any horror stories you may have read about this place all the staff were very nice and ready to help the food was of a very good quality and the location nice and quiet.
If you are looking for a busy place to holiday look closer to town, but who wants to have a noisy complex? If you do see 18-30's!!
True it isn’t walking distance from Paphos, but there is a bus service no 15 and 10 I think, which will cost you 80c and is only a 5 minute walk to the road if you walk up the dirt track next to the resort. You can also get a taxi which will cost about £5. Coral bay is also only a 10 minute tip on the bus and will cost you again 80c
Along the Kings road there are many nice places to eat ....Fat mamas being the pick if you like USA style portions (have the ribs they are huge!!!)
So on the whole if you are looking for a nice warm atmosphere with a variety of people with nice staff Good local food and a place that is close enough to enjoy Paphos for night life and far enough from the daily hustle and bustle then AKTI is spot on.
I’d give it an 8/10.

Rooms: Clean and Tidy - Maid comes everyday apart from Sundays, with clean bedding. Living Area - 2 Single sofa/beds, Television (3 English Channels, e.g. Sky News and BBC 1) Air Conditioning at extra cost - This I felt should be given free.
Bedroom: 2 Single Beds together as a double, a large built in wardrobe/drawer unit with a safe box. Both living room and bedroom had own balcony. Kitchen - Basic standard but acceptable. Bathroom - Bath/Shower. Overall the room was very spacious and clean, tiled throughout.
Did have trouble with large ants appearing every so often. The tiniest crumb attracts hundreds of them.
Pool Area: Very Nice. 2 Pools. A smaller 1 ideal for relaxation and the main family 1 which has a children’s paddling pool and the main pool which water sports such as water gym and water polo was played every day except Wednesday
.
Plenty of sun beds around the pool and on a grass area overlooking the sea. There was a pool bar which sold drinks, snacks and great Waffles - You have to try them! The pool also has its own restaurant away from the main restaurant it self, selling hot food all day long.
We had children’s portions every time and you got plenty of it. Also there are 2 pool tables, an air hockey table, some game machines and car racing machines if the pool gets too much for the kids.
Shop: The shop was very expensive!! You could get the same product sold in the hotel shop for a third of the price in the town - Which on a downside you had to walk up a dirt track in the scorching sun in order to get to the bus stop to get a bus in to town to go the shop!
Food: The restaurant had different set menus each night with a different themed buffet. Such as Greek Night and Italian as well as barbecue night and roast dinner.
The food was very nice but couldn’t eat there every night. Nice to go in to the town and try out different restaurants as Paphos is full of them! Wanted to try out Fat Mamas which looked the most popular place to eat but couldn’t because of the queue. But plenty of nice places on the same street.
Coral Bay: Coral Bay is a beautiful beach with crystal blue water. Great for snorkelling. In order to get there you have to again walk the dirt track, or get a taxi which wasn’t the cheapest way about it. A car hire is a must! The hotel sort you out a deal with pay for 3 days car hire and get the 4th day free.
The 'Dirt track'!!: in order for you to go anywhere you have to walk the hill as the akti beach is situated right at the bottom of a hill at the sea edge. Allot of people were suggesting a Shuttle Bus to be organised which took people in to town or to Coral Bay.
Entertainment: Different entertainment was on each night. Greek Dancing, Parrot Show, Music Quiz, Celebrity Face quiz, Magicians and Karaoke were a few. But the must see was Elvis Night! Great entertainment and enjoyable to watch! Adel the hotel's entertainer organises the bingo every night and the water polo at 5pm, as well as the French Bowls in the morning. Lara is the kids entertainer and also does the water gym and morning stretching exercise classes. She is always there of an evening offering Kids Mini Disco before bingo starts.
Overall: The holiday has been an enjoyable experience. Cyprus is an expensive place but not ridiculously expensive. The hotel was clean and tidy and well maintained.
Met some lovely people there and once you do get up that dirt track there is plenty to do, ranging from sight seeing in the high mountains and the harbour to visiting the Paphos Water park and heading down to Bar Street to see the night life.
People in Cyprus are very friendly and always want to help. The only downside of the holiday was the location of the hotel itself but with a Car Hire it is no bother at all!
