Akti Beach Tourist Village Reviews
" I am a 15 year old girl and this year... "
Submitted By: kirst35For young families this is brilliant as it has a arcade and different activities throughout the day with Mario (the brilliant entertainer) in charge. He always makes you laugh and makes sure you enjoy your holiday to the max. He also has he sayings which you can’t stop saying once you hear him like "sabotage" and "shake your body". I also found the entertainment on the night was brilliant for young children but not enough for teenagers.
The main pool is amazing it isn’t too cold its just right and you are over looking the sea and you have the nice sea breeze so it isn’t too hot unless you don’t have the breeze. There are lots of sun beds so you don’t have to get up too early to get them.
I found the apartments very clean and found the cleaners worked hard throughout my stay. I also thought the food was very good especially at the pool bar so you can just have something to eat in the day.
The so called beach is not a beach it is just rocks but there is a place where u can get into the sea but you have to be careful by the rocks. All the people are willing to help you at Akti village and if you have any problems you just have to ask and they will help you, they are also all friendly and polite.
Overall I enjoyed my stay at Akti village as I met many class people but if it wasn’t for them I would not have enjoyed my holiday as much as I did. I would never go back there again but would definitely recommend it for families with young children and people that are looking for a relaxing holiday.

" We booked our holiday to Cyprus at... "
Submitted By: Mrs J HeskethThe apartments were spacious and clean and the maid service was great. The facilities were all good and the location of the main pool was fantastic. We have three children aged 15,13 & 10 and had great problems dragging them away from the resort at all for the whole week! {very peaceful}
The Restaurant and Taverna were excellent, as was the Serina Bar and Pool Bar. The staff were helpful and service was good. Akti is a little far from restaurants and bars we needed to use Taxis, the prices were better in Paphos Harbour and Tomb of the Kings all quite long walks away, you really need car hire or Taxis.
We found this a very expensive holiday but enjoyed ourselves, the children made some great friends as did we. A lovely atmosphere around the resort. We would return!

Submitted By: Miss K SmyThere was also a leak in the bathroom and mould in the bathroom and bedroom. Come on Mr Akti do a bit of DIY, you can afford it. The apartments are spacious, I agree with past comments there. The small charge for the air con is a con, it is actually about 35 of our pounds per week and when added to your safety deposit box is nearly £50.00 (our money) so beware and take extra.
In the morning the apartment appeared (not so bad) and the complex is set in lovely grounds right on the beach. The pool is lovely and no we did not have to fight for a sun bed, as like everyone else we dutifully placed our towels on the beds in the morning (about 8.30am should do you to bag a good spot). The resort is mainly English but we suddenly turned in to Germans when it came to sun beds.
The food, well sorry again I am really fussy with my food, I like good food if I'm paying for it. Those of you who paid for full inclusive will know no better but for those of you who are going self-catering the food at the harbour and at Coral Bay is lovely. Pop into The Moorings on the harbour if you get a chance. The food is reasonable and of good quality, and the staff are pleasant and not too pushy.
Akti is not badly positioned but those of you with small children may begin to regret not booking nearer to Paphos. You can walk to the harbour in about half an hour but in the heat, your children wont thank you. On a positive note cabs and buses are plentiful and reasonable (not cheap, about the same as England). In fact Cyprus cost of living is about the same as ours (very expensive) eye glasses, booze and fags are cheap though, so if your a blind, chain smoking, alcoholic, you'll save pounds, only joking.
Hiring a car is the best way of exploring Cyprus. We booked through the Happy (not) Olympic rep, who will seem like she’s doing you a fair deal but before you sign any paperwork with Hertz take a look at how much petrol their charging you for. They charged us £28.00 (Cyprus money) for a group C car. When we got to the garage we noticed that to fill the tank up should have only cost around £15.00-£20.00. They also add VAT on to the £28.00. Here’s an idea, tell Hertz that you don’t want to be charged for petrol but will return the car with a full tank of petrol as we do in this Country. If you do hire a car, you've got to go into the mountains, Omodos is lovely and traditional.
The Akti staff are ok, (Kay and Mary are lovely). Mario is definitely friendly (if not, a little creepy, sorry all Mario fans). The Olympic reps are miserable and have both just come out of hospital (so stay off work then, don’t bring my holiday down). The people of Cyprus are friendly enough but see the English as walking pound note signs. The old Cyprus is quickly disappearing but all in all still pretty and cultural. We had a good holiday and Akti is a good base for a value for money holiday in Paphos, although NOT 4 stars, sorry.
We met a lovely family, hi Neil, Zoe, Lauren and Adam, I wonder if you agree with my review.

" We have just returned from Akti Beach... "
Submitted By: Mrs J TaylorThe rooms were very spacious and clean. They were also cleaned and clean towels daily. It is a very picturesque place, no high rise buildings rather like a Mediterranean village.
There is a small supermarket on site and a couple of restaurants both with good food and good choice, very friendly accommodating staff.
The entertainers Mario and Natalie were excellent. Our kids are 15 and 11 and both thought the world of them and were very sorry to leave. They make sure there is plenty for them to do in the day, French boules, water polo, killer pool, darts, fun games etc. The nightly entertainment is also good in the cocktail bar.
It isn't in the centre of Paphos but the bus service is excellent both into Paphos and the other way to Coral Bay, you are about 10mins from each on the bus. Taxis though are very reasonable should you wish to go door to door.
We wouldn't hesitate at going back to Akti Village we all thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay, we didn't have a car but found lots to do. A brilliant time had by all!!!!

Submitted By: Miss D KnightWe never had a bad meal which was good and they had different specialty meals every night so there was plenty to choose from. There was entertainment every night apart from Wednesdays, the entertainer was called Mario and his partner in crime was called Natalie, they made you feel welcome and invited you to join in the activities. There was plenty of sun beds so you didn’t have to get up early to get one!
Its about a 10 minute walk to the main road and the buses are quite frequent but sometimes they are too full to get on, bus fare is 80p, taxis are always stopping for you they charge around £5 -7 into Paphos. The beach was pebbly but if you go to coral bay there’s a nice sandy one there, we wouldn’t go self catering again because it was expensive, but overall we had a great time and definitely go back to Akti beach.

Submitted By: Miss M TarranI was disappointed that there was no beach at all there although their was a tiny cove where you could go dip in the sea. Not very safe to swim in though, as it was very rocky and normally rough. The pool was amazing though and nice to have a grassy area to sunbathe on with plenty of beds and brollies. There are 3 pools. A main one, a smaller quieter one and an indoor pool. There is also a gym which is free (not a lot in it though).
Mario the entertainer was an absolute loon and made us laugh every time he shouted for people to play 'French Bowls' or Water polo' throughout the day.
There was a nice beach about 20 mins up the road on the bus (Coral Bay). Note for those catching the bus - do not walk the road way to the main road, it is so much further. Take the dirt track from the poolside up to the road.
For the evenings the restaurant was nice by the pool and the cocktail bar upstairs was sufficient for a couple of nights. You could walk to a set of restaurants/bars on the Tomb of the Kings road in about 30 mins which we did 3 times and got a cab back. Fat Mamas is a must if your hungry (large portions!) but don't leave it too late as you will have to queue. If you are planning to go to the harbour get the bus or share a cab. There is a lot more nightlife in the harbour but it is very 'young minded' after 11 ish. Not that I minded I am only 30! Just a warning.
Cyprus was incredibly hot even at the beginning of June and all in all a very enjoyable holiday for 1 week. I would not recommend going to Akti for longer than a week without hiring a car.

Submitted By: pixyflashThe "difficult hike" up to the main road, turned out to be a 5 minute stroll. And a further 15 minutes walk down the road leads you to a selection of restaurants.
Bus service into Paphos is regular and cheap, but at peak times you may have to wait as many are full. However, taxis will stop and ask if you want to go to Paphos, we paid only cyp£1 each as were happy to share.
We went self catering and only tried the self-service food once, and we were a little disappointed. But, this may have been because we were very late. We ate at the taverna a couple of times, the food/drink and service was excellent, and reasonably priced.
The site shop is what you would expect, a little expensive, but well stocked.
We walked up to "Dimma bar", as several reviews had mentioned it. Drinks were very reasonable (cyp £1.60 for 660ml bottle of Keo/Carlsberg), service and staff were both friendly and good. If you carry on up past the bar to the main road, about 5 minute walk, you will find the Pentaras Restaurant. The food and service were outstanding, the staff happy to comment on and recommend any dishes, and the menu was extensive.
The trip by jeep safari into the Troodos Mountains is an absolute must, but book at Paphos harbour as it's half the price of booking through your rep.
Overall we had a great time, our only moan about the accommodation was having to pay for 2 air con' units, (we only wanted 1 in the bedroom) which cost cyp£35.
It is worth the stay just to meet Mario, we are still using his catchphrase "SABOTAGE". The bar staff are all helpful and friendly, no need to queue, just take a seat and everything is brought to you... often!!!!!!
We found the Akti to be a great place to stay, and would definitely recommend it.

" The Akti beach is one of the best... "
Submitted By: Miss R MurrayThe facilities far exceeded our expectations (having booked it on a cheap deal 3 days before we were not entirely sure what to expect)
The highlights...
Gorgeous taverna overlooking the sea - reasonably priced (around CY£23 for two course meal and bottle of wine and water) and authentic food. Great if you don't want to venture far on some evenings.
Room charge - you can charge all your drinks and food to the room and pay on check out. Great if you don't want to exchange loads of money and pay the commission levied by the banks.
Mario - The most bizarre character you are ever likely to meet! Has an amazing sense of humour and just wants everyone to have a good time. I recommend French boules! I also have really fair skin and he seemed to be fascinated by this (being Italian he couldn't understand why I wasn't going brown after 2 weeks!) so fair girls be prepared!
The staff - Particular praise has to go to Ivan, the Bulgarian waiter who would do anything to help. By the end of the stay he could guess what we were having and bring us the bill to sign to the room before we had even asked - great attentive service!
No fight for sun beds - came down at 1pm on one occasion and still got sun beds - very well organised - and waiter service around the pool.
Happy hour - 4-5pm at the pool bar and 7-8pm at the cocktail bar. All cocktails CY£1.40 and pints CY£1.20.
Overall I overwhelmingly recommend the Akti beach to anyone but especially couples and families looking for a relaxing escape.

Submitted By: Miss J HollingsworthBut I can say hand on heart that "Boy, I got it right". Akti Beach Resort was exactly what I needed.
The location is ideal, right smack on the shore with a secluded beach just behind the pool side bar. The accommodation was faultless and spotless. With large spacious rooms and huge balconies. I had a room with a view right over the main pool area and over looking the sea - it was breath taking.
I meet some fantastic people on holiday, Jen and Yvonne (fantastic girls) and Ma and Pa who adopted me at the airport. I had in fact taken my portfolio and plenty of books away to read and sketch - but instead I partied all night with the girls, played bingo with Fifi and drank cocktails with Kleanthis.
What more could a girl want!
We're all going back in September - so Akti watch out and if anyone reads this who stayed there at the end of March 2006 and remembers the cockadooling from the bar - get on a plane and join us too.
Yamas!

Submitted By: Mrs Helena MidgleyThe complex is situated between Paphos and Coral Bay. It is a perfect base for a relaxing holiday or alternatively only a five minute taxi ride to Paphos for those who prefer the hustle and bustle. There is also a regular bus service to Paphos and coral bay which costs approx £1 per person and runs until 11 at night.
We have stayed in both the apartments and studios, both of which are very spacious and very clean. The most impressive feature of the complex is the positioning of the large pool looking out to the sea which is only 50 yards away. Unlike many other places we have stayed, there is never a need to wake up at the crack of dawn to reserve your sun beds as there is more then adequate for all holidaymakers.
The complex offers excellent value for money and the same can be said for the food, whether you book half board beforehand or alternatively if you purchase vouchers when you arrive. The quality is excellent and the choice more then adequate.
There is also an entertainment team to keep the kids happy and grown ups alike, especially Mario as he is a one off and has to be seen to be believed. The staff make you feel more than welcome and are always on hand if anything is needed.
The best compliment we can pay is it feels like our second home and we can not wait to return. Roll on October.

" We stayed at the Akti for a week in... "
Submitted By: Mr B RussellThere is a lovely pool and you are close to the sea but there isn’t really a beach but the Coral bay is just down the road.
From the accommodation you can walk (well we are in our 20s) for 15/20 mins and be at a strip of pubs and restaurants, the usual sort of thing you find at holiday resorts. Everywhere does everything it seems, except I think we were the only English people not eating burger and chips twice a day! The Greek salads are so good.
The food at the buffet was superb. My favourite was the BBQ pork and huge range of salad on offer. There really was a lot of choice. The staff are really nice too.
The entertainer Mario is hilarious. You should see him with the kids, he is a star. Everybody comes away from this place saying 'sabotage', his catchphrase.
Only gripes - the price of beer. They only serve the local keo really which was £1.80 CP which is over £2.20 and it is very weak! Well I just had to drink more of it to make up!
If you go, pop in to the local pub the Dimma (might be wrong spelling). The owner is lovely, even gave me a free brandy (which was very nice).
Go, you will love it.

Submitted By: Mrs D TaylorThe resort had three pools one indoor lots of beds for everyone a poolside cafe.
The food was fantastic and the hours were great breakfast until 10am and evening meal served until 10pm.
You could get a bus from the resort into Paphos for just a few cents or the hotel would order you a taxi which cost £5.00 but we recommend you hire a car to get the best of this wonderful island. There are lots of car hire garages in Paphos competing for your business so barter don't just take the first offer we got £6.00 a day cut of the price.
The heart of the holiday and what made it so special were the staff from Mario and Dana in entertainment to George and all his staff in the dinning room.
We envy anyone who is still waiting to go on holiday to Akti and we will definitely be going again.
We would just like to say from Ian Di and Jenny thank you to all the staff for a wonderful holiday.

" I reluctantly returned home yesterday... "
Submitted By: Ms Y StanleyAkti Village far exceeded my expectations. It was lovely. Beautifully laid out - no high rise buildings, just low level, interesting designs that didn't negatively impact the beautiful coastline. The room (studio) was huge and very clean. It was cleaned everyday except one. The staff were so attentive and constantly smiling and simply couldn't do enough for you. As for the food - plentiful and lovely is all I can say!! You have to try it to believe it!
The village itself is located at one end of Paphos, so in my view is tucked away from the hustle which was fine for me. A plentiful supply of bars and restaurants were a short taxi ride away costing around cy£5.
I would definitely recommend Akti for those looking for a high quality holiday slightly tucked away from the main centre of the resort of Paphos itself. Its perfect for all - couples, families and people traveling alone.

However nothing could be further from the truth, Akto Beach is a gorgeous holiday location for those who don't want to be in the middle of drunken yobs in a busy resort, yet want the option of heading out for the night (Suited us down to the ground!)
Walking to our apartment was like walking through a little village, with stone paving and lots of plants lining the way. The main swimming pool was heaven! Nice and big, and central to the pool bar and sun loungers. We used to get up and choose sun beds before heading to the restaurant for breakfast, although there are plenty of sun beds around. The entertainer is a pain (unless you're into the whole Butlins entertainment thing!), however we made it clear from the offset that we're not that kind of people and he left us alone!
Restaurant food is super, we especially liked that they had a different theme for the food each evening - BBQ being by far the best! Staff are amazing and seem to really enjoy their job - even in the heat!
Bar staff in the cocktail bar were also amazing and so friendly, no need to go to the bar yourself as they come to you as soon as they spot your drink is nearing its end!
As for the apartment. Spacious and clean! The cleaner we had was lovely and provided us with new towels every other day. Bed linen wasn't changed but as we were only there a week it didn't bother us. Kitchen facilities were good, the only downside being the utensils - not many of them and what we had weren't great! Note to remember - onsite shop is extremely expensive, my tip is to get the bus to Paphos harbour. Walk up to Debenham’s and turn right - there's a new supermarket there that stocks everything you would want, and more! At a fraction of the price.
Speaking of Paphos itself, the harbour area is beautiful, and there seemed to be a few nice places to eat there (watch out for the pelicans. they seem to think its ok to place a live pelican on a stand outside the restaurant.) Bar Street wasn't the best, went once and didn't return.
All in all we had a fab holiday and didn't want to leave Akti - felt like home by the end of the week, would most definitely return and would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing holiday. Wouldn't class the apartments as 4*, although this is mainly due to the interior furnishings, cocktail bar terrace and lounge add a bit of class, and the facilities are very good. Air con is definitely worth paying for!
