Akti Beach Tourist Village Reviews
" Very good base for holiday "
Submitted By: gooch150307The room was cleaned every day except Wednesday and Sunday, but we were left extra bin liners for both kitchen and bathroom. The cleaning staff were extremely friendly even if they could not speak much english.
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Happy hour 3 times a day which was always nice. The rep was not so helpful and we did hear that the trips were far cheaper if you booked them at the Olympic office in Paphos.
If you are hiring a car, definatley go for Elephant Car as they were the best priced, always best to book advance on the internet. A car is a must unless you like catching buses.
Paphos itself is large and touristy, travel out to the mountains to see the true Cyprus. We found a marvelous cafe in Dora where we had traditional greek food and it was not expensive and also found another lovely taverna in the mountains.
All in all, we would definatley stay at the Akti again, the sunbathing facilities were very good and there is lots of room and the apartments were lovely.
Advice: Visit Gorgona cafe near the PapaAntonio supermarket. Marvelous!
Activities: Travel up into the mountains and stumble across lovely taverna

" we had two lovely weeks stay at akti "
Submitted By: hillslet me say that all the staff were lovely, nouthing seemed to much trouble. chris our rep with olimpic was extreamly helpfull,[nice chap].we took our 13yr old son with us,and as its out of season we thought he might be bored, with no activities, but the animation team becky and makaila organised water polo, walks, and evening entertainment for us all which was great.
our studio was on the ground floor overlooking the pool,we had a kitchen ,oven,fridge,toaster,3 single beds one in the front room my only negative point was the beds were hard, but you get used to them.it was nice to sit on the balcony i think most of the rooms had one.we were half board the food in the restarant was varied they had themed nights ie italian, carvery, brilliant, george and staff were very attentive.
we did have a slight ant prob as you do in any hot country, take a small bottle of ant powder with you.the pools are lovely cleaned every day, nice to lay onthe loungers around the main pool with an[ Akti sunset ] drink, and enjoy the sea view.
there is no beach only a rocky coave.the nearest beach is coral bay.you realy do nead to hire a car, we had one for a week and did a couple of organised trips the other week.one was the jeep safari to the trudos mountains, visiting villages ,and a monistary, waterfall, off the beaten track that you would never find yourself.also the day trip to egypt is expensive but a memarable day, visiting the piramids, svinks, and a nile cruse well worth the money.
its a lovely walk into pathos along the coastal track i made it half way but have leg problems,so had to turn back only try it if your mobile.
we had a realy loveiy holiday and hope to visit again soon.
Advice: paphos is a busy town steaped in history, lots of restarants , bars, and couple of clubs
Activities: ifyou want a pitstop thers a place opp the postoffice in paphos[coffee and apple pie] yum

" Dont believe all the negative comments! "
Submitted By: yorkshiredaleHaving read several negative comments on a number of sites about this hotel,we were quite apprehensive about what we were going to find when we got there! On arrival (20.15) we were greeted by the friendly staff on reception, because we had been delayed on the flight over we were given the option either to go for our evening meal first or check in. There were 6 people in my group, so we had 3 rooms. On collecting the keys, we made our way to the rooms. We were pleasantly surprised how spacious and clean they were! All rooms were overlooking the main pool and had views of the see. Even though we were half board, all the rooms had self catering facilities. The whole complex was very clean (rooms cleaned everyday except Wednesday and towels changed when guests required them to be). The food was very nice too (no chips made a nice change!). We attended the welcome meeting the day after we arrived, having read negative comments, we were sceptical about the rep Chris. When he made his opening speech, he claimed he was a different Chris! We dealt with him a few times in the week, booking various trips, hire car and asking questions, all of which he was happy to help with! We had no complaints about him! No different to other reps of other holiday companies. The hotel is a few kilometers from Paphos centre, but there is a very frequent bus service costing only 1.50 euro, taxi costs 10 euro. All in all we enjoyed our weeks holiday here, clean complex, friendly helpful staff and varied evening entertainment. Even the local residents came to the hotel to eat and for the entertainment, you cant get a better recommendation than that!

" Akti - Good stay, with some drawbacks. "
Submitted By: andydowntonIt's a bit out of the way, and I would recommend a Hire Car (in general for Cyprus anyway) as taxi's at 10-12 euro's a time mount up - BUT - the buses are VERY good, and are just 1.50 each and go between the three main points - Coral Bay, The Harbor and The Old Town (Market) and run every 10-15 minutes until 10pm.
The beach at the hotel isn't! It's coral! There is a small (very small) bay out the back of the hotel where there is a good are for swimming in the med, I recommend taking some goggles and checking out all the beautiful fish! Yet, for sunbathing, there are loads of deckchairs on the grass at the back on the hotel which is a nice way to spend an afternoon. If you're after a sandy beach you can get the bus to Coral Bay.
I read reviews about the cleanliness of the Akti online before, and on the first night we did have an attack of Ants in our room. Within 5 minutes of calling reception, the staff were up with sprays to cure the problem and it didn't effect us again for the rest of the week. I think one thing to point out is that Cyprus is a hot and dry island, and Ants are rife across the WHOLE island, everywhere has the little fellers, and they really don't bother you. If you do have some, spray the source, and relax. It's not because the hotel's dirty....BUT...Our room was generally clean, however it wasn't properly mopped or brushed out until 4 days in, and I suspect this is because we were in the room when the cleaner came, as she mopped and brushed it again the next day with us there.
If going SC, I recommend taking some supplies with you as the mini-mart on site is a bit pricey, as you'd expect really. There is a very good supermarket by the Harbor in 'Kato Pafos' where you can stock up. There is also a number of 'Kiosks' whick are just like a small Spar.
If you drive up to Troudos and decided to go to the Monastery with all the gold, make sure you keep to the MAIN roads, we took an 'f' road which was very scary! Gravel track with a good 200ft drop on the edge with no barriers!
CHOSE PAFOS NOT LIMASOL, we went for a day trip and were VERY disappointed, we made the bad situation good though by taking in all the Aphrodite and other archeological sites on the way. Don't take the Motorway (A6), take the B6 coast road, the views are breathtaking, and well worth it!
Would I go back to the Akti, probably not, and the only reason being as I would be taking the whole family and so would get a villa. If it was just the two of us, yes I would go back.
It's what it is, it's a Tourist Village. If you want to have somewhere to rest your head overnight before heading out in the hire car the next day, it's great!
GENERAL POINTS:
- The cars are right hand drive, and you drive on the same side as the UK, signs are in English and Greek.
- Electrics are SAME AS THE UK so no need for european adapters.
- Water is drinkable, but has high mineral content, bottled water is cheap
- A good restaurant is The Moorings on the harbor front, very nice!
Drop me an email to andy.downton@gmail.com if I can be of any more assistance.

" GREAT STAY AT AKTI BEACH "
Submitted By: paulatudorGoing Half Board here is definitely good value for money, especially with Cyprus being expensive already before the introduction of the Euro which makes Self Catering a serious expense on top of your holiday. For instance, a tiny block of cheese is about 5 Euros!
It is on a bit of a slope and you have to be careful when trying to get to the bus stop which is at the top of the slope, but you can easily get into Paphos and elsewhere via a Taxi.
As well as an inside Swimming Pool and sauna etc, there are 2 x outdoor pools, both which are lovely and cleaned daily. Some of the sunbeds may need replacing here and there but hey !
All in all, fantastic value for money and a great place to stay.

Sheila on reception English, very helpful, fones in room cheaper than mobiles to fone home.
Chris the rep very helpful to us. Had a couple of major probs that he sorted out same day.
TV bit iffy, but hey who wants to watch Corrie on holiday?
Overall, been to worse places in Cyprus, paid £365 each for 2 weeks, flying with Monarch, so can't really grumble.

We are certainly looking to staying at the Akti Village on our next break in Cyprus.
Do not be fooled by comments made about staff and reps, they are false.
True, the accommodation (ours was brilliant) is a little of the beat track but enjoy the walks along the beach front, use local buses, and trips are no more than you pay in English towns/site seeing trips!!
Your on holiday, so enjoy good company and excellent food/wines if you want fish and chips and a pint then stay at home (preferably in the north)!!
Advice: Paphos is a vibrant place full of culture(if you can be bothered to look!)
Activities: Hondoros excellent old style, friendly staff, good value for money
Good for: Beach
