I and my wife always wanted to visit New York, so decided to save the pennies and make the trip this year. We searched online and come across the embassy and booked up. I think that we made a good choice. The staff were great and really professional. Food was outstanding!... more

This hotel is a short walk away from the metro and it's easy enough to get round the city. We loved this hotel. I think mainly because it's a big chain but with things in place that focus on the small details that help to make it a great hotel to stay in. The atrium area is... more

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel, the rooms were very large indeed, and the complementary breakfast was great. We stayed for one week at half term in February. They also have a Managers Reception every night with Free drinks, a must after walking around all day. The... more

Stayed there in 2005 with a party of 12 for four days. We had a great time. The staff were brilliant and got us cabs any time we needed one. It is a great point for touring the city. We ate ate the hotel restaurant every day. When we wanted to go to Woodbury Common the... more

Definitely not a hotel for those afraid of heights! Though very stunning to look at and comfortable rooms this hotel isn’t the best situated to all of New York City's attractions. Situated in Battery Park it is just around the corner from ground zero and not far from the... more

Excellent Hotel!
Just returned from a 4 night stay at the Embassy Suites. Excellent hotel! Don't be put off by the location - nice and quiet after the hustle/bustle of the centre. Lovely views across to NJ & great parks close by for kids or adults. Easy to get around - either by the subway or the bus which has a stop around the corner from hotel entrances. 10min walk approx only to Battery Park for tour bus stops and ferries. Breakfast is awesome and plenty of choice. Rooms are comfortable & the added advantage of having a seperate sitting room is great too . Didn't ask for a river view, but was lucky enough to have one & personally this is a must have! Agree with the other comments regarding the thin walls in rooms, but could be lived with. Staff very helpful. Will be staying no where else but the Embassy Suites now when visiting NYC!
Great place to stay when in NYC
Stayed at the Embassy Suites from 4/9/04 - 4/11-04 with a group of 8 teenagers. We arrived fairly early so our room wasn't ready which wasn't a problem, we just headed to the WTC site and then grabbed something to eat. By the time we finished eating, I called and the rooms were available. The hotel itself was pleasantly nice, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The kids loved it. The movie theatre on site was a welcome as well. The breakfast in the morning, you can't beat as well as the manager's reception w/the free cocktails and snacks. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to NY w/children or a large group. You're about three blocks away from the subway, right on the water, and if you book online, prices you can't beat for NY.
Great Hotel
We just got back from our weekend in NY and we were quite pleased with the hotel. Our room was on the 15th (top) floor with a view of Ground Zero. The beds are a bit on the soft side but comfortable. The worst part about the room was the shower...terrible water pressure and the walls are a bit thin. We loved the fact that the hotel was quiet with respect to outside noise. We never heard traffic below. The complimentary full breakfast and drinks in the afternoon were phenomenal. We parked in the lot next door which charges 21.95/day but they will give a discount to hotel guests. Don't pay the $45 to park at the hotel. The lot is manned 24 hours/day and the attendants provided excellent service. The hotel is within walking distance to the ferries for Liberty and Ellis Islands and of course to Ground Zero, but you will need to take a cab or subway to Midtown, Chinatown or elsewhere. We've also stayed at the Marriott in Brooklyn but for the price you can't beat this hotel. Its roominess and amenities far exceed any of the other hotels. I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else in NY now.
Great place to stay for a weekend visit
My family (3) stayed at this hotel between 3/19 and 3/21. The location is good in that it is quiet area on the weekends, across from ground zero, and short walk to the statue of Liberty tours. The room is good size, walls a bit thin but overall a great bargin. They offer a full cook to order breakfast and happy hour, all at no cost. Complaints would include the thin walls and weak water pressure in the shower. BE SURE TO USE THE PARKING LOT NEXT TO THE HOTEL. They are half the price of the hotel provided parking and open 24 hours a day. We will stay here again.
Comfortable base in NYC
We stayed on a family break here in Feb 04 - our first visit to NY. The hotel itself was very comfortable and the inclusive breakfasts were first class. Good reasonable dining facilities right next door. Spacious rooms - but in hindsight we would have been better with a double bedded room rather than the huge single bed; but the sofa bed meant that four of us fitted in without any problem. The location of the hotel has its good and bad points. Right on the river for superb views and fairly quiet in the evening - but it's a good five minute walk across a busy thoroughfare to the nearest subway. The staff were very helpful and friendly - but for some reason for one day that we were there we had no housekeeping or cleaning services. But all in all I would recommend the hotel and would be more than happy to go back there again.
Great For A Break
I'm a natural cynic but All the reviews are right! The family ( wife and two kids) took a short three day break to New York Mid February 2004. I was a little apprehensive about the location but took the chance for the River Views. Best choice I ever made. Very welcoming staff at check in .(Thanks especially to Aida and Stan) . Room available dispite being only 1300hrs. Very impressed with the location for the views and walks. Lot of police presence so any thoughts of battery park being a bit ropey were soon laid to rest. ( In fact the area feels far safer than uptown New York ) Any thoughts harboured on the "Managers-reception" being a one drink wonder was soon dispelled. The hotel blurb is right ,you really can unwind during the 2 hr "happy hour". Breakfast was just as good as other reviewers have made out and the made to order omlettes and pancakes were great. The rest of lower manhattan is very easily accessible by foot. But you can also take the "Free connexions " coach ...every 10minutes from 1000hrs all around the financial district. Do check that facility out its very very good service. Use it to get to battery park to pick up a hop-on hop-off tour bus. (Hit the Water Street Deli across the way from the Stattan Island ferry terminal for a real treat in variety lunch time snaks) There is a very nice kids play area right on the waterfront and ( New Yorks best kept secret) a Century 21 discount store within easy walking distance for all you shopaholics. There are a variety eateries, drug stores and Supermarkets in the immediate vicinity open till late. A Great location, DO NOT BE PUT OFF BY ITS seeming DISTANCE from the more popular areas. Its easy to get everywhre and it IS a very peaceful Haven after the Hustle and Bustle of Uptown. Great staff, Great location, Great Rooms what more can be said. GO there for a great break. What a lovely hotel..
We had a 3 night break in NY in 2002, it was our first visit, and we was not disappointed. We had a suite, with fanstastic views over the river. The room was beautifuly furnished and laid out, the bed was massive and comfortable. Sitting area, lovely decor and cosy. We enjoyed the buffet b'fast which was very filling!!! Though we was in the centre of manhatten financial district it was ideal for us as it is a quiet location. after all the hussle and bussle of the city it was relaxing to get back to. Definately would love to go back, hope you enjoy as much as we did.
Simply awesome
My husband & I stayed a week 31 Jan - 8 Feb. It was perfect for our 1st trip to NYC. Everything that all other reviewers wrote - we got our room at 11am, helpful and friendly staff (Stan was great!), fantastic harbour views, fantastic breakfast - we didn't need to eat lunch, good transportation - we prefer the bus (M20) to the subway for people watching but both were convenient for uptown manhanttan, great eateries in the same building as well as around the area. We always felt safe in the neighbourhood and in fact we walked everywhere - along Battery Park to the Staten Island Ferry (there is a regular free shuttle if you don't want to walk), Wall Street, Brooklyn Bridge, Chinatown, Little Italy. The World Financial Centre has great eateries as well and a drugstore/minimarket. The room was very clean and new and we absolutely loved the space and peace. The high-speed internet access was great (US$10 per 24-hour block). We will definitely stay there again if we return to NYC.
I'M SPOILED!!!!!
I've stayed at the Embassy twice and have absolutely loved every single minute! The people there are the best! My friends and I were incredibly spoiled and it was fantastic! Exactly what a hotel should be! GIANT KUDOS TO EVERYONE WHO WORKS AT THE EMBASSY SUITES!!! WE CAN'T WAIT TO STAY THERE AGAIN!!!!
Embassy- the official residence and offices of an ambassador
This hotel was definitely made to reside an ambassador. The environment in the hotel was breathtaking and the harbor views were exquisite. The suites are great in size. I opted for the non- harbor view, but the room was still awesome! The room included 2 TVs, Pull out queen sofa bed, king bed, dinner- like table, mini bar, microwave, sink, umbrella, robe, Bath and Body Works toilette trees, attractive artwork the list goes one. The complementary drinks were great after a hike around the city, as well as the made to order breakfast that hit the spot! The staff was friendly and very helpful. The walk to the subway was relatively short, even though it was freezing outside. Uptown- Times Square is a 10-minute maximum subway ride. Many restaurants are in the area. Taco Bell, McDonald s, Chevy s (Mexican), Applebee s are in the area, as well as pizza places and more upscale dining experiences. If any poor reviews are written about this NYC downtown hotel, I would be astonished! I plan to return ASAP. Have a great trip!
