Had an amazing time in New York, though a nightmare getting there. What with delays at Heathrow and then not getting any luggage until the end of the holiday! But that did not put a damper on the holiday at all.
New York is a fantastic city and the hotel was incredible. Stylish, modern and right in the heart of times square. Could not have asked for a better placed hotel. Rooms were huge and extremely tidy. We only went to new York for 4 days so it was a bit if a rush trying to see everything in those 4days, so if you wanted to see everything then you might need slightly longer.
Before we went we found a website called bigapplegreeters.com, basically you sign up and a genuine new Yorker will meet you at your hotel and show you the sights. They are volunteers and spend the whole day with you. We had a fantastic time with our greeter. He took us to central park, china town, little Italy, on the subway and to all the other places you would expect to visit on a trip to new York.
Another day we had a wonder round on our own, we took a horse and carriage ride around central park which was lovely though it’s a nightmare to actually get a horse and carriage because there are so many other people waiting for one, so be prepared to be patient if it’s something you want to do!
Highlight of our trip was when we took a helicopter trip over new York and out to the statue of liberty that was amazing and well worth the money, would definitely recommend doing that. It also recommend a visit to ground zero and taking a ferry trip over to Staten island. Shopping in new York is as you would expect, massive shops and loads of people. Beware though, Macys and Bloomingdales are a nightmare to get around! Macys especially as it is a block big and you will easily get lost like we did! Good bargains in there though!
New York was a fantastic experience and will definitely be returning there again soon.
