Wonderful!
from A TripAdvisor Member
If your still wandering if this hotel is the one for you, stop wandering and book the trip. this hotel was great. the location is perfect. There is a great bar two blocks up called the Pig N Whistle, good irish bar. Times square is a 10 minute walk as is central park and fifth ave for all you shopping needs. The breakfast buffett is nice but a little expensive (20.00). Loved it, will go again. Staff was great too! Saty in upper floor and get a two queen bed room, its huge compared the other rooms. Bye
Nice hotel with a friendly staff
from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed at the Courtyard Manhattan East while on business in NYC during May 2006. The staff was helpful and very friendly throughout my stay. I paid $239 per night. There were freshly baked chocolate chip cookies at the front desk each afternoon. My room was an average sized and very clean, appearing to be recently remodeled. Like another person said, there is a bit of noise from 3rd Ave. (I was on the 17th floor) but not enough to keep a sound sleeper like me awake. The subway is very close. NOTE: Don't be afraid of the subway! It is VERY easy to navigate, maps at the entrance of stations and you can always ask someone. $7 a day on the subway is a great deal. Your feet may be sore after all of that walking. I will stay here again.
nice hotel

We just got back a few weeks ago from New York and loved everything about it. This hotel added to our awesome experience. We were not able to check in early, however the hotel staff gladly stored our bags for us. The rooms were very nice and everything from the carpets to the bedding was new and clean. The staff was not overly friendly but they were efficient. The cab fare from JFK to the hotel was around $55.00. The hotel arranged for a town car to take us back to the airport on our departure date. (I recomend taking advantage of this service.) Also if you are going to New york for the first time, do what we did and go buy greyline bus tour tickets for your stay. You see so much of New York on a double decker bus. We loved the tours because we didn't have to pay cabfare all weekend and we received a lot of neat info during our siteseeing. Anyway, I highly recomend this hotel and when I go back I will be staying there again!
Great Hotel

I stayed at this hotel with my Mother-in-Law for three nights from May 4-7, 2006. We were in New York to see a couple of shows. The hotel was clean, the staff was courteous and helpful and the room was a nice size room. We had two queen size beds in a non-smoking room on the 24th floor. The beds were very comfortable. There was some street noise from Third Avenue but I was so tired after walking so much, it didn't bother me for the most part. I left a couple of dollars for the cleaning staff every night and they left me a thank you note in return which I wasn't expecting. The subway is on the corner. A friend of my mother-in-laws took us to Brighton Beach one day and we took the subway home - it was really easy to get around this way and an experience for me. We also took the subway to Canal Street (Chinatown) - lots of touristy type things to buy here and plenty of people trying to sell their wares. The hotel staff flagged down taxi service for us to the opera and to the theatre (if you haven't seen Wicked it is fabulous). We did not eat in the hotel but they have free coffee on the 12th floor which we did get everyday. We ate breakfast at Azure which is about two blocks up the street (lots of variety). You can walk up to Rockefeller Center easily as well as St. Patricks Cathedral. When you are in New York you need your walking shoes wherever you go unless you take cabs or the subway everywhere. We took the subway to the nearest station to The Metropolitan Museum and walked a couple of blocks. The Jewish Museum is about 10 blocks up the street at 96th street. Getting a cab in New York is an experience in itself. We used a limo service to get to and from the hotel but there are probably other means we just didn't check this out in advance. I recommend this hotel highly for a clean, convenient, safe place to stay with a great staff. We paid $201per night - being inexperienced I thought this was a good rate after comparing prices on line.
Great stay!!!

Great stay! As one reviewer said, it truly was a pleasant surprise. Will be staying again on my next visit to the Big Apple. Great location, great service. Rob, the restaurant manager was wonderful. Thanks Courtyard Marriott!
Can't wait to return

Just returned from a 4 night stay in the Courtyard Marriott Midtown. I picked this hotel from this website because of positive reviews, price was not an issue, previous experiences are to me. I would recommend all to stop at Midtown Courtyard. I have uploaded some pics of my room which was on the 21st floor and had great views of 3rd Avenue. The room had Kingsize bed walk-in shower, free internet, large tv, was very clean and tidy. All the staff were very friendly and helpfull especially the concierge who could not help enough with excellent advice/directions on how to get to specific locations. It is really well situated and within walking distance of 5th Ave for shopping, Times Square, and many other tourist attractions. The Subway entrance is only 30 sec walk from the lobby and you can buy a metro 'fun' day pass for just $7 - £4 and travel anywhere all day. All hotels in NY are expensive, we got a great deal through Obitz who did a 'partner' discount with Marriot Courtyard and American Airlines. We paid $870 for 4 days including kingsize room, flights from our local airport (not Heathrow which is cheaper) to JFK. I hope this is of some use to fellow readers.
Excellent value in a good location
from TATraveller
The Marriott Courtyard represents an exceptionally good deal for a hotel in a convenient location in New York. It has a functional reception area which has little more in it other than reception, waiting area and concierge - there is a bar and breakfast area on the 12th floor but it being New York we had no need to use this. Our (standard ) bedroom on the 21st floor was exceptionally large for New York with a sofa, coffee table, safe, coffee maker, ironing board etc. The bathroom was fine, although not large, with a shallow bath which could only really be used as a shower - cleaning each day was very good. The area is just off Lexington Ave, near the metro and within walking distance of 5th Ave, Rockerfeller Centre etc. Lots of good eating in the area. Would definately go back there given the location, the good room rate and the efficiency of staff. If you want lots of atmosphere, a fancy hotel lobby etc.- then its not for you but if you want comfort, convenience, good housekeeping and excellent value then the Marriott Coutyard can't be faulted.
Quite Nice

We stayed here five nights in early April. This is not your typical Courtyard, but is a 30+ story building. The place has just been renovated (in fact, the restaurant only reopened our last morning there). The rooms were excellent, clean and fresh, with great mattresses and wide screen TVs. Almost all the employees we encountered were friendly and helpful, but watch out for a concierge named Sara, who apparently is inexperienced (she gave us some bad directions that resulted in us getting off the subway two stations past where we should have, which led to a 10-minute walk in the rain to where we needed to be). The hotel's location is outstanding, at 3rd Ave. and E. 52nd St. We walked most everywhere (Central Park, American Girl Doll, Carnegie Deli, Times Square, etc), never for a minute feeling unsafe. The hotel was pricey, but probably not by NYC standards.
Great hotel, great location
from jojo2005
We just came back from New-York and we had a great time. The Courtyard Midtown is really great. We had room 3118. The room was recently renovated. Very clean and large. The bathroom was huge, maybe because it was a room designed for handicap. Nothing to complain about. We wanted a late check out for 2PM and they could allow us for 1PM, so we got 1 hour more than the usual noon.
Excellent Location and Quality
from L0veNewY0rk
My daughter and I were allocated a room with a great view on the 28th floor. It was newly renovated, well presented, spotlessly clean with two very comfortable double beds. Each member of staff who we came in contact with during our three night stay were friendly and very helpful. We appreciated the provision of a safe in the room where we could securely store money etc. The location was perfect 52nd Street, 3rd Avenue. We were easily able to walk to all of the major attractions except the Ellis Island area. To visit Ellis Island and the statue of Liberty we took the subway from the entrance located close to this hotel. We went out to breakfast each morning at a deli only a few doors away where we enjoyed great food and service. If I were in New York again I would, without hesitation, go back to this hotel.
