Broadway Plaza Hotel

Arrived at Newark airport expecting cold weather only to find brilliant sunshine! throughout our entire 5 day stay it was hot! Hotel staff on arrival were very friendly and again throughout our stay, we found all the staff to be very approachable.
We had read several reviews regarding this hotel before we booked, some good, some bad but we found the hotel to be very clean and tidy. Our room was very spacious, we both had double beds which were comfortable. Trust me after walking for 12 hours each day, I could have quite easily slept on the settee in reception!
When we pulled up outside the hotel on first arriving, like the reviews we had previously read, we were a little taken a back by the hustle and bustle of the traders/crowds outside the hotel itself, also the amount of litter and the street in which the hotel stands is very dirty, be warned! but as two women together, we did not encountered any problems morning, noon or night with any of the locals. From our window we had a wonderful view of the Empire State building and it is beautiful when lit up at night.
If you have the time take a ferry ride around New York, as the weather was hot we had a ball. For a reasonably priced meal with great wine, head to Little Italy. China town for bargains and again great food. O'Neills, an Irish bar not far from the hotel, serves good food and the restaurant staff are very friendly, a smile would not have gone a miss with the bar staff though!
Brought some great bargains from the little shops along from the hotel, do not be put off by their appearance. Perfume very reasonable, cheaper than the large department stores.
Due to the weather being so hot, we spent a whole day in central park and the surrounding area, just people watching and again picking up several bargains from the many stall holders scattered about.
Don't be fooled by what you see in the films when trying to 'flag down' a yellow cab and several all pull up together! As much as we tried, we found it very difficult to locate an empty cab. So with this in mind be warned regarding the 'bicycle cabs' offering you view's of New York your never forget! Your absolutely right, WE will not forget our very short journey and the price as well!
We flew with Continential Airlines and it was fantastic. What a wonderful on-board entertainment system they provided, honestly I was so engrossed with my film I did not want to land!
We will most certainly visit New York again and more than likely stay in mid town.
