" Excellent week "
Submitted By: jimdunThere were two minor negatives, firstly the safety deposit box was non-returnable 30 Euro (usually just a deposit is held), second to keep your room open for the last day cost 30 - 50 Euro. However these were both minor issues and didn't really matter to us.
The hotel has been recently refurbished and it shows. The reception area is bright and airy with plenty of seating. The room we had was comfortable and spotless with the towels being changed daily. The restaurent was clean and the staff friendly. There was quite a good variety of food for each meal but sometimes it could have been warmer. The pool snack bar continued to serve hot and cold food between meal times.
The pool and surrounding area were clean and well maintained with plenty of sun beds, however this might be a bit crowded during peak season. There was entertainment in and around the pool daily for those who wanted it. The evening entertainment was O.K most nights bit we thought the Greek night was great fun. On the last day there is a free shower room on a first come basis. Overall we found the whole experience excellent and happily recomend the Sun Palace.

Submitted By: Mr P RamsdenThe maid did the beds and bins daily but think our sheets were changed only once in the 2 weeks. Our shower water also came back up the grate but not a major issue. All rooms have hairdryer too. outside the pool area is very spacious and we never struggled to get beds - some areas are really shaded and as all have a parasol next to 2 beds with a table that you cannot remove then the brolly sometimes provides a nice shade. Georgy the pool guy is the most pleasant man i ever met he works all day and comes back in the eveining - He will find you spare lillos etc. There is outside bar and entertainment area and my gosh the animation team worked hard- Raluka (my boyfriend dumped me), Zollo (shaggy), Neno (rui rui ratatui) and Lazlo (go grease lightening)- they are so energetic and made my 40th birthday memorable. They provided all the entertainment at night exept sat when greek dancers came and were pretty boring. The animation team played games like mr sun palace, miss sun palace, , music quiz, best couple and also there own shows..aLl so funny and not what you would expect - go on and have a go at joining in...
Bingo and mini disco most nights too.
MY reason for giving 9 not 10 was the food - it was easily a 4 star standard and so much variety with every night a different theme but i thought most of the time it was not hot enough but def warm. States long trousers for evening in restaurant but most men wore shorts with no complaints - as long as you are smart casual. no problem getting more than 2 drinks at any of the 2 bars either but never more than 4 at bar.
Has kids park and 2 kids pools as well as internet and pool, table, table tennis, tennis court and footy court - with daily activity by team. Will definately book again. Go to Sofi overroad for money and water park tickets then they will stop charging you commission if you ask. water park is 20 euro which ever way ie on the door or via a shop its great you can either get bus outside for 1 euro each but have to walk cardiac hill - better to flag taxi for 5 euro which takes you up hill or order from hotel at 7 euro. we got taxi to and from airport at 19 euro and then 22 euro back!. They coulkd improve it for me if they palyed more music around pool in day time and did a carvery on a sunday - i know its greece but have been to other hotel where this happens
Overall very very clean and well maintained hotel with some very pleasant staff and def go back here and to faliraki
" it was the best holiday ever

Submitted By: Mr L Playfairthe hotels animation team neno, zollo, raluka, lazlo are the best we have seen, they work so hard and really enjoy their job,the hotel wouldnt be the same without them, superb!
the hotels food is of a good standard and quite varied, they have a chinese buffet, italian buffet, mexican, buffet, greek buffet and so on!
the hotel is just on the edge of town, about a 10 minute stroll away, surrounding the hotel is bars and tavernas also shops!
the beach is a 6-8min walk away with a few tavernas there for some lunch!
at the back of the hotel is a very in expensive jewellery shop named nicko's my wife and some of her friends bought some gold there!!
we met some great families there who made our stay perfect the powells from newcastle, fitzmaurices from reading, thomas's from sheffield also the metcalfs from newcastle, thanks for a top holiday!! rui rui ratta toui...

Submitted By: Mr C SmithCheck-in at the big reception area was quick and we went to our room, where we found the 1st minor problem, the slot where you put the card for the electric was on the floor and the wires were hanging out the wall twisted together,so the electric worked.I took the card slot to reception and they said they'd sort it.So we unpacked and headed for dinner, upon returning to the room, the problem was fixed.
The room itself was a family room with two rooms and a balcony with table and chairs,a TV in both rooms,a fridge,a hairdryer,a dressing table with large mirror, another large mirror on the wall and loads of room for clothes, with a big wardrobe, draws etc and the air con was fantastic. The bathroom was spacious, although another minor problem was the plug in the bath didn`t work (had a screw missing) so I took it out completely, this meant that water sometimes came back up the vent in the floor but not that much of a problem if you put a towel down. The rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels etc..
It`d be nice if they kept these rooms just for families and not put groups of lads/girls in,to keep the noise down although it wasn`t too bad after one lot had left.
Meals: Plenty on offer with fish, pork, chicken, veal, pasta, vegetables, sausage, rice. There`s a seperate bit for the kids(adults use this also).Different theme nights with a barbecue, chinese, italian.
The meals are warm not cold!!
There`s a salad bar with allsorts of things, again changes daily.Fresh bread and rolls.
There`s a soup on every day
There`s cakes,fruit,cheese,ice cream for afters.
Drinks are self-serve with lager (very nice),red/white wine, soft drinks, tea and coffee.
There`s a wide range of choice at breakfast ranging from fruit to pancakes to full english.
The only minor problem I found was that when something ran out it wasn`t replaced quick enough.
Outside of meal times the snack bar is open and it`s not leftovers from breakfast or dinner.
Try the pies,lovely!!
Staff: Absolutely fantastic, very friendly and extremely helpful. The animation team (Raluka,Zolo,Lazlo,Nemo and Tessa)do a superb job, even the bingo is entertaining and they do take no for an answer. The guy who does the pool does a great job, keeps it clean, sometimes still there at 10pm,when it looks wonderful lit up and he`ll find you a sunbed no problem.
Drinks: Plastic glasses for the self-serve soft drinks machine but if you ask at the bar they will give you a glass at night time. The draught lager is very nice, plenty of cocktails to choose from, including a childs one.All different spirits/liquers,be careful if you ask for a strong drink,I had to fetch more lemonade for one of mine.
There`s a shop in the hotel and the shops and bars of Faliraki are just a short walk (5min) away. There`s a bus stop outside or reception will ring you a taxi that`ll be there within 5 mins (arrange a price with the driver before you get in).A taxi to Rhodes Town cost us 15 euros.
It`s a short walk to the beach, careful treading on the sand it`s like treading on hot coals.7 euros for a parasol and 2 sunbeds, there`s a cubicle to get changed in and showers every 100 yards.
We would certainly go back to this hotel and definately think we got our monies worth.

Submitted By: Mrs E ReidThe plane journey was great as we were given a long haul plane which had loads of leg room, so that started us all off for having a good time.
The hotel was spotless, the staff where all really helpful and happy (all except one miserable git). The animation team and their shows where ten times better than last year. La Luca and Zollo really went out the way to make us fell welcome and let you get involved with as much or as little as you liked.
The food, I thought was not quite as good as the year before. However, there is loads of choice for breakfast etc. The hotel has different theme night with the food, and we all said we have never had chinese food like that, (but when in Greece). I think the only complaint would be come lunch time, we would have liked some cold meats or cheese out, just so you could do yourself a light lunch instead of a proper dinner.
They still did the bingo at 9.30 which was a laugh, and we won a few times, which was even better.
They had a kids club run daily, there was quite a few kids in it, however, our son was having too much of a good time in the TWO new pools that they have built since last year to bother going.
All in all we have had a ball and have booked again for next year.........
See you soon.

Good bits:- The Pool area and provision of sun beds was great. The entertainment staff were the best we have known and worked very hard to keep everyone involved especially with pool games. The beach is good but see below for info on the rocks in the sea. Go to Rhodes old town and Lindos, both are fantastic places.
Mediocre bits:- The food was reasonable but a lot of repetition and not much in the way of variety compared to other all inclusives we have had. They tried with barbeques and different themes, but not impressed. The red wine was chilled, who drinks chilled red wine? (not many). Not much to do in the vicinity of the hotel, many shops and bars have closed due to lack of use. Falaraki is, well Falaraki ! Noisy and loads of bars and eating places but we had a few laughs and the hosts were always friendly, great for teenagers.
Bad bits:- We had to stay in different accomodation on our first night / day. This was over the other side of a main road and the room was very cramped and we could not unpack. We complained to the reception guy but he was very rude with a "so what" attitude. There were people booking in on an ad-hoc basis so we assumed they had lost control of reservations. This was not the room we paid for, very small, and it spoilt our holiday. On return we asked First Choice (trading name of TUI / Thomsons etc)for compensation / redress but they have declined. We will never book with First Choice again. We can remember the old Thomsons company who always looked after their customers. The entry to the sea (from the hotel location) is difficult because of large stones and rocks under the water hence very few people were swimming, no good for kids. It is best to go towards Falaraki centre for better water entry and swimming.
Our view is avoid this hotel unless you are willing to take a risk!
