Never fails to deliver

Aug 2011, Willo

We went to the Sun Palace on 20th July for two weeks hols. This was the fourth time we've been. The food, I believe, has improved over the years and there is far more variety. The rooms are clean and well air conditioned and the maids change the towels and bedding every day. All the staff are polite and friendly, as usual and the entertainment is pretty good, especially for the kids. There's plenty of activities to get involved with during the day, both in and out of the pool. The hotel and resort are fantastic, as far as we're concerned. The only downside to the hotel was that we had to 'book' our sunbeds in the early hours of each morning by putting our towels on them. Obviously, the shortage of sunbeds was due to the sheer volume of holiday makers. As such, the hotel needs to acquire more sunbeds or stop people claiming sunbeds without actually laying on them. Other than this, great holiday, once again.

Don't leave expensive perfume in bathroom.

NEGATIVE. We stayed jun 27 - jul 04. Unfortunately came home minus my (nearly full) coco chanel mademoisele perfume which i had left in bathroom. GUTTED!!!
POSITIVE Animation team brill all of them. I took my daughter and her friend ( both 16) and they were made to feel really involved and very welcome. They would definately go back there again.
Hotel in good location - on club street near bars and clubs but no outside noise whatsoever..
Room Tip: Am told best family rooms are inland facing. ours was pool facing and not great but ok for the price.

  • Advice: dress code very casual in evening.

My mum and I went in Sept 2010, we booked the holiday last minute. We had a wonderful terrace room near the pool. The entertainment team where wonderful and even got me involved in some of the activities. The food was good enough for us not to want to go out for food which is a good thing!. The drinks where great too, I loved their cocktail menus too!.
We met some wonderful English families, many had been to this hotel before one couple had been there 2 months prior and loved it so much they returned.
Its 10 -15 minute walk to Faliraki, where some poeple may presume its a party place so may be put off, its there if you need it, but the hotel is far away from it you dont even wts there.
The beach is about 10 minute walk, and it is a beautiful beach with a few lovely restaurants to have some lunch.
Mum and I have booked to go again this year, I emailed the reservation manager who kindly replied to give us the same room, he even remembered who we where!
Highly recommend it - book it!

I have just arrived back yesterday from a week here, I went with my partner, we are both early 20s and found the entertainment abit boring, there were a few nights we enjoyed but other than that the holiday was really good, the rooms are a good size, clean and comfy with A/C, fridge, hairdryer. The pools are really nice with a good pool side bar. The staff are really friendly, we went all inclusive and found the food quite good, abit repetative in the day but at night it was a different theme night every night but always something we liked. Theres not much by the hotel but its a shortish walk to a shopping centre down the road or you can go into Falaraki. Its a short walk to the beach which is lovey with many different water sports which arent expensive.

We have just arrived back from Sun palace, we had a week there, and we were so sad to come home. The hotel is lovely, the rooms are a decent size with A/C and a TV, hair dryer, fridge etc...
The pool is great, all ages of the family can enjoy it, as you don't have to go to a different part of the hotel for the baby pool which suited our group perfectly. the hotel is very friendly, and I thought it was very personal. The kids are well catered for, and are welcomed!
The entertainment team are fantastic, run by a very professional team leader. When we were there they were only 5 of them, which was great as we got to know them and they got to know us, which made it easy for the kids to go to the kids club. Eve, the lady who runs the kids club, is a fantastic, well mannered polite lady, who take looking after the kids very natutally, it was so clear she loved her job!
The catering staff were great, they accomodated a 60th birthday for us no problem, with champaigne, and a cake with no charge! They couldnt do enough for us, and the dining area was so clean, and well maintained.
The food was ok, beats looking in the cupboard and deciding on soup or beans, but i would say the choice of main course was about 4 different choices. That was fine for us, but if people have ben to a huge AI hotel before then comparing the choice, i can see why some reviews have been negative about the food.
If you have booked this holiday, you will have a great time, I am ex cabin crew (long haul) and so have travelled to many destinations in my time, and i was so impressed and satisfied with this holiday, and the main person who loved it ws my 3 year old girl, who was the reason we booked here, so that said, a very good choice!
Rhodes is lovely, make sure you take the bus into Rhodes, 2 euro adult 1 euro child, half an hour bus ride from the hotel!
Finally, make sure you visit the waterpark, 5 mins on the bus, there is a FREE bus to the waterpark from outside of the hotel. The waterpark is situated on the top of a massive hill and some buses only drop you at the bottom, so if you have anyone unable to walk up the huge hill, I would suggest a taxi, but the waterpark is fantastic, the biggest in Europe, with so many slides for all ages!
Hope this helps you, and you have a fab holiday!

Me my partner and 19 month old son came here for a week. The actual hotel was clean but rooms were small and not big enough for the 3 of us. Well it's all inclusive and the food was horrible and very samey everyday even though it was a different theme every night like mexican or chinese. The mid morning snack was left overs from breakfast with chips, these were the only thing ok to eat. after 2 days of eating rubbish food we had to start eating out, even our son wouldn't eat the food. So go self catering if you go to falaraki the food is so much better in the restaurants especially the mexican a few meters away from the hotel. Cockroaches in the bathroom as well not nice!!!! Wouldn't recommened anyone to come to this hotel, It was full of Germans as well. The childrens pool with the mushroom fountain was very slippy and woudn't recommend children to go it in.

Our Holiday Review

Mixed views about this hotel and holiday.
Good bits:- The Pool area and provision of sun beds was great. The entertainment staff were the best we have known and worked very hard to keep everyone involved especially with pool games. The beach is good but see below for info on the rocks in the sea. Go to Rhodes old town and Lindos, both are fantastic places.
Mediocre bits:- The food was reasonable but a lot of repetition and not much in the way of variety compared to other all inclusives we have had. They tried with barbeques and different themes, but not impressed. The red wine was chilled, who drinks chilled red wine? (not many). Not much to do in the vicinity of the hotel, many shops and bars have closed due to lack of use. Falaraki is, well Falaraki ! Noisy and loads of bars and eating places but we had a few laughs and the hosts were always friendly, great for teenagers.
Bad bits:- We had to stay in different accomodation on our first night / day. This was over the other side of a main road and the room was very cramped and we could not unpack. We complained to the reception guy but he was very rude with a "so what" attitude. There were people booking in on an ad-hoc basis so we assumed they had lost control of reservations. This was not the room we paid for, very small, and it spoilt our holiday. On return we asked First Choice (trading name of TUI / Thomsons etc)for compensation / redress but they have declined. We will never book with First Choice again. We can remember the old Thomsons company who always looked after their customers. The entry to the sea (from the hotel location) is difficult because of large stones and rocks under the water hence very few people were swimming, no good for kids. It is best to go towards Falaraki centre for better water entry and swimming.
Our view is avoid this hotel unless you are willing to take a risk!

Friendly Hotel

We found this hotel to be one of the friendliest we have visited, the staff and animation team were brilliant, specially, Raluca and Lyndsay (animation) Michael,Lukas and Gabriella (restaurant and bar). The food was good, but did get a bit samey the second week. The lobby is clean , light and airy, the rooms and toilets not quiet as good. The pool is lovely, with lots of sunbeds, and the whole fortnight we never had a struggle to get one,I think there must be a sunbed for every person staying there. The entertainment was so-so BUT the girls worked so hard it would be wrong to critisise them, they were as energetic at 11-30pm as at 11-30 am and got everyone involved in activities, without being pushy, alot of the credit for this hotel is down to the girls,Raluca,Lyndsay,Monika and Beartrice. The hotel is near the beach ,but the surrounding area is a bit run down and scruffy, the shops are a short walk away, some are closed either for the end of the season or altogether.Faliraki looks to be dying a death!!!!

came back from the sun palace 6th aug.after a 2 week stay went with family and friends 1 adult 50 2 adults 49 other adult 42 & children 2 sixteen 1 fourteen and 1 nine. had a very good time, weather fantastic very hot some days over 40 degrees.hotel very clean maid service every day. food was ok very repetative after two weeks was fed up with it.drinks the same only one lager which is quite nice and the usual spirits never been all inc. before thought it would work out cheaper but because we got fed up being in the same place we spent more than we thought. went to lindos on a boat trip very good.water park good but a bit too big, you have to go around on the train very hilly.hired a car for three days very reasonable went all around the island very pretty places to see.falaraki night life good but last year we went to laganas in zante were it was fantastic you might think were a bit older than the usual night owls but we love to party too.back to hotel, my nine year old enjoyed himself in pool everyday in fact we all did animation team excellent earn every euro they make. staff very friendly pool bar man andreas lovelly chap.overall a very good holiday but would try somewhere different next year.

  • Advice: nightlife good for teenagers and young people also older people if you like partying.
  • Activities: dont miss going to lindos or bottom of island where the aegean and med meet

My wife and I (aged,in our early Fiftes) have just returned home after having a very good holiday in faliraki. The sun palace hotel was excellent , the staff were friendly and food was of a good quality with a large variety of dishes . Soft drinks , tea & coffee machines at the pool bar are self service which allows the bar staff more time to concentrate on serving alcoholic drinks , hardly any Que at bar even though hotel was full. snack bar was great if you missed lunch or dinner as food was pepared freshly cooked in snack bar. Ice cream cones were also self service with a variety of ice cream to choose from, vanilla, chocolate, strawbery, banana and mint . hotel accomadation is clean and comfortable with daily maid service , the room i had has been recently renovated , newly fitted bathroom , flat screen tv and very efficent air conditioning unit, all furnishings appeared new. The Animation team are superb !! these guys keep all the guests (including the kids) going , wether looking for an active or relaxing holiday , young or old this animation team seem to connect with everyone....hotel is 5 min. walk to beach and 10 min. to town centre . bus stop is just outside entrance to hotel and is easy for visit to lindos or Rhodes old town.
Although Faliraki is not my favorite resort,, I would highly recomend this hotel

  • Advice: ideally suited for beach holiday for a younger generation , lively pubs for clubbing
  • Activities: Lindos village and Rhodes old town , and the water park
