Just arrived back from week at the Sun Palace hotel - we were very disappointed when we arrived as were put in a basement room in a building across the (very busy) street from the hotel.
Immediately did not like the location as expected to be actually in the hotel, but then found the room to be smelling of gas, had rock hard beds and generally was in need of new decor - not at all the four star advertised.
The receptionist then moved us to another room in the same building. I will give her her dues, she did as she said and we were put in the much nicer main hotel, where the decor was new and beds much softer. Basically if they try to put you in a room across the street, request to be moved!
Anyway it was in a good location in Faliraki, which is a fairly charmless place but has a cracking beach, close to the fab water park, and has rowdy nightlife, and good place to stay if you want to explore a bit - Lindos and old Rhodes Town quite close in distance and are both beautiful.
As for the Hotel itself - food pretty good, drinks usual for all inclusive, and rooms well cleaned, definitely a good base on an island where we did not see a cloud all week and temperature in the 30's!

We had a fab holiday at Sun Palace. Kids (age 9 and 6) had great time and made lots of friends, so much so that we are off back next year (never thought I would go back to same place, ever).
Food was good always managed to find something we all liked, although my daughter spent two weeks eating pasta and sauce and cake and ice cream.
Sonia and gang were fantastic they worked hard day and night some of the night time entertainment was so bad you had to laugh.
Didn’t see the rep at all and booked all trips through the place across the road the water park was fantastic very clean .on the last day Sonia and co came in to reception and said goodbye lots of hugs and kisses and sad faces.
Can’t wait to go back next year.

Just back from 14 days at Sun Palace with my hubby and two boys (7 & 5).
Manos holiday rep service at airport - very poor, took us ages to find rep, then coach wasn’t numbered. After booking Lindos boat trip with rep (100+ Euros) found out you can do it cheaper across road or get bus for about 5 Euros, boat trip enjoyable but costly.
Old Rhodes town is a must and so is the waterpark. Very friendly in Aussie supermarket across the road, they would help you out with anything - needle and cotton or information.
Very impressed with hotel reception - very plush, food - mainly warm rather than hot - but this is the Greek way and there was always something for us all to eat, lots of fresh fruit and excellent desserts, staff very friendly and had time to speak to kids, Hotel and grounds were impressively clean.
Had concerns about kids club as you just signed a sheet and they went off with someone from the Animation team, no checks if kids could swim before they done water games - spoon diving and water polo, so parents please be present, also some of the older kids are a bit pushy and kind of take over the kids water games which made me feel even more cautious.
Raluka (Romanian) mainly done kids club, she was excellent and seemed to really enjoy herself especially at mini disco time. The kids were not shown how to do the actions to the mini disco songs they just had to watch and learn, which in my kids case was a shame cos it took them 2 weeks to master then they had to come home.
Zollo (Czech) done water polo, football and darts with the adults and sometimes done kids club, the kids seemed to really like him in a big brother sort of way, he is always smiling and friendly but doesn’t always understand English.
Sarah (English) was brilliant, she done water aerobics, stretching and occasionally water polo, she tried hard to be encourage people to join in but most couldn’t be bothered which was a real shame cos the water aerobics really was quite good and lots of fun. Sarah was never too pushy and like all the animation team she took No for an answer, no pressure to join in.
Sonia (Austrian) was obviously in charge, friendly after seeing you about for a few days, a fantastic entertainer, considering the entertainment mainly was very very improvised they done a brill job. Evening entertainment was quizzes, Miss Faliraki, sketches, Elvis (the shortest one you ever did see) and Karaoke EVERY sun Night and Greek dancing every sat night, you can always go out we did, seeing once was enough, Faliraki bar street short walk away, The sketches were good, very funny and obviously no outlay to produce.
Overall we were very impressed, very happy and would definitely go there again and like other people I booked on others reviews.
We had a family room away from hotel, 1st floor, excellent size cleaned daily.
Sunbeds were "reserved" about 8 in morning sometimes earlier.
Our aircon didn’t work upon our arrival so the hotel gave us portable aircon unit, we couldn’t work it so they gave us fans, basket of fruit and wine and got a man in to fix it within 3 days, we were also allowed to keep portable aircon and fans in room it might of took 3 days but they really couldn’t of done more - 10/10 for trying to resolve.
Didn’t like that Head Honcho held a private function around the pool and hotel guests had to vacate the pool area by 5 o/c for the rest of the day and his guests were coming in hotel and looking around and peering through windows, made you feel like a goldfish in a bowl.
Very unacceptable in June holiday season, hotel guests were only notified by A4 notices at bar and by restaurant entrance night before. Lots of changes still were going on during our stay. No diving signs by shallow end of pool, sign by Pc's + pinball machines, water feature in reception made to work on day of Head honchos private party only!
This hotel was apparently refurbished in winter hence still doing bits and pieces.
Would recommend as this hotel is probably going to be re graded to 4*, definitely worth the new rating. We all enjoyed ourselves and would recommend it to similar families.
We might even go back. Hope they change the mattresses cos beds were very very uncomfortable. There’s no hotel mini golf like it says in brochure unfortunately but is some up main street, hotel Kids play area is a small plastic kind of climbing frame with 2 or 3 slides on it.
Mixture of guests German, Austrian, Dutch, English - mainly northerners, very few southerners.
Hope we’ve covered everything in this review, we booked our holiday here on what other people said and have given you a true representation of how we found it, we would recommend it.

Got home last night and had to write a review straight away. Couldn't really fault this hotel.
Food was more than adequate although some people liked to moan, but you should expect to eat different food in a different country. Always a great selection.
Staff are all wonderful, can't do enough for you. The animation team are spot on. Sarah, Sonia, Zorro, and Valluka (I think that was her name!) work tirelessly to entertain you without many props.
Faliraki town is buzzing at night. We are in our late 40's but did not feel out of place in any of the bars. Didn't really need to leave the hotel if you didn't want to but wanted to see the town.
Would definitely go there again. Highly recommended.

It appears all the renovations have finished now. Room was lovely and newly decorated, as is the rest of the hotel.
Staff were great, very friendly, and hard working. Pool area is lovely.
Resort is smaller and quieter than I imagined, but the hotel makes up for it.
The animation team are fantastic, really good fun!
Only downside was the room was not adequately cleaned. Beds made, towels changed and that was about it. Sheets were not changed and the room was never cleaned properly.
The food was very good in general. Chips were cold occasionally, but other than that I don't think anything was cold that wasn't supposed to be. There were lovely fresh salads and great deserts.
Drinks were plentiful. Good cocktails. My partner thought the beer wasn't great - not strong enough!
Overall it is a lovely hotel and a good base in Rhodes. You wouldn't have to leave the hotel if you didn't want to. There is always plenty to do.

We booked this holiday last minute, and were a bit worried as the price seemed too good to be true.
When we arrived we found out that the hotel was undergoing renovation work, and not everything was finished, but that being said, we couldn't have asked for a better hotel.
The new reception area, restaurant and bar area are lovely, what you would expect in a 5* hotel.
The food was great. I have many food allergies and I never had a problem finding something to eat - there were plenty of tasty salads, hot foods such as Greek meatballs, pastas, stuffed peppers, and always plenty of desserts to choose from.
The staff were friendly. The bar staff always remembered our favourite drinks and the head waiter was always smiling.
On the first couple of nights the bar still wasn't finished, but the staff helped out by serving drinks in the restaurant, and even allowed us to serve ourselves on a few occasions!
The only downside was that they hadn't got round to renovating our room yet, but the room is only there for sleeping! Everything in the room was perfectly adequate for what we needed, it was clean and tidy, and the maids visited daily.
I can't wait to see what it looks like when the whole renovation is complete; I think the hotel will be stunning.

The hotel was spot on. The pool was lovely and big lots of sunbeds.
Food was not hot. Bar staff not very friendly, but we all had a good time.
Rooms were cleaned every day, maids were good. The shops just a cross road.
All in all it is a lovely hotel, would go back if food was hot and bar staff were ok. Some of them were lovely; it was just two of them.

Just spent 2 weeks at the Sun Palace Hotel.
Food average, a bit repetitive, staff excellent, rooms good, we were in the apartments which seem newer than the hotel, only complaint is that the steps too them are narrow and turn so hard to take suitcases up to the apartments. Animation good, value for money on the late deal excellent.
Have been to Rhodes for the last 4 years and this is the best hotel out of the 4 years that we have stayed in. Would return to this hotel.

Brill holiday 28 of us went all families, age range from 5 to 44. This was a lovely hotel clean, good food, loads of drink! (Not at all watered down). Entertainment was good included all guest in the shows.
John Paul, Robert and Sarah all really friendly. The Aussie shop over the road help us with trips to water park (really, really lots of fun) Rhodes old town and the boat trip to Lindos. A really good hotel for groups of friends and families we all had a brill time and would recommend it to all. Well worth every penny, how anyone could moan about this hotel all 28 of us don’t know why!
We enjoyed ourselves from the minute we got there to the last day.

Hello everyone. I really liked sun palace hotel. Everything was amazing. I guess I like to have fun and not complain about everything.
What I really liked though is Maria’s supermarket. The best. Maria, Alexandra and her mother are the most amazing persons in whole Faliraki. The best prices. Almost 25% lowest than everywhere else. I disliked Aussies Supermarket. Try to stay away, or they will grab you and make you shop. Man, if you don't want, you don't shop. Very rude people.
The best Animation, was in Faliraki by Paul (Czeck) and Joanna (Italian) in Sun Palace hotel. Have fun everyone.

I took my 15 year old son in July/August. Being a woman and single parent I wanted a safe friendly environment - This is exactly what I got.
I would not say that the hotel was up to 4* standard, as tatty and warn in some places, but when I complained about been put in a double room (double bed) which was warn in places to share with my son I was swiftly moved to a twin and our room was lovely with a brilliant view of the pool.
I would say that the maid service could have been better. The food in general was good with lots of choice and always plenty of and hot. The salad bar was excellent, there is a no rush atmosphere which I found very relaxing.
The pool and surrounding areas are very clean and tidy. Except for the pool toilet which is disgusting.
All in all a brilliant location friendly people and the climate is excellent. If this hotel was rated 3* I think it would be reviewed better.

I went on this Holiday with 9 other mates and it really wasn't built for our stay.
This fault is down to the travel agent putting us there. There are a lot of families with young kids staying at this hotel, and do not appreciate 10 lads playing ball in the pool.
This Hotel is situated in a good position. The beach isn't too far nor is the nightlife (bar street and Club Street). The nightlife is good and there are many different bars to visit.
I would recommend 'Q club' and 'Jacks' as a must visit. Avoid 'liquid because its crap! The rooms of the hotel are brilliant and kept very clean by the maids who visit a few of times a week.
There is an animation team who work throughout the day doing their best to try and include every age group in various games and shows that they put on. You must play BINGO purely for the theme tune.
The staff who work behind the bars are very friendly and make the hotel very welcoming especially 'Andreas' who works behind the bar next to the restaurant. The bar closes at 12pm which is an hour after the hotels night entertainment has finished.
Overall I would revisit this hotel with my family or girlfriend. This hotel is not suitable for groups of lads.
