Excellent week

My partner and I have just returned from a week's all inclusive at the Sun Palace and I have to say we were delighted with most aspects of the hotel.
There were two minor negatives, firstly the safety deposit box was non-returnable 30 Euro (usually just a deposit is held), second to keep your room open for the last day cost 30 - 50 Euro. However these were both minor issues and didn't really matter to us.
The hotel has been recently refurbished and it shows. The reception area is bright and airy with plenty of seating. The room we had was comfortable and spotless with the towels being changed daily. The restaurent was clean and the staff friendly. There was quite a good variety of food for each meal but sometimes it could have been warmer. The pool snack bar continued to serve hot and cold food between meal times.
The pool and surrounding area were clean and well maintained with plenty of sun beds, however this might be a bit crowded during peak season. There was entertainment in and around the pool daily for those who wanted it. The evening entertainment was O.K most nights bit we thought the Greek night was great fun. On the last day there is a free shower room on a first come basis. Overall we found the whole experience excellent and happily recomend the Sun Palace.

I've just come back from a weeks stay...

I've just come back from a weeks stay with my boy friend at the sun palace hotel. We weren't expecting the hotel to be great as we got it for such a good price all inclusive but when we arrived to the hotel after our 7 hour delay we were pleasently suprised at the cleanliness of the rooms and the hotel as a whole and our pool side view was amazing. The next day we went down for breakfast not really expecting to like much as we're quite fusy eaters but the wide selection of food caters for every one and the efficiency of the staff was brilliant. We ate at every meal time never went hungry and drinks (soft and alcoholic) were avaliable threw out the whole day. Also nothing is measured out there so hope you like your drinks very strong lol. The entertainment threw out the day and night was not for me as i'd rather do my own thing but people who did take part looked to be having a good time. Always got a sun bed during the day by the pool, and the shop which is in the hotel sells things like lillos and balls to use in the pool so you don't have to go far to get them. The resort itself is great and the hotel is litterally 2 minutes from the main part of club street where your constantly offered deals on drinks and free shots. My favourite places were Bedrock, King Arthurs, The loft and this little hidden away cocktail bar which is situated between two restaurants just before you head onto Bar street. Bar street is very loud with every bar trying to beat the rest with there music but a great place to meet people if your out on an all girls/boys holiday. Even though the hotel is on club street its very relaxed and quiet at night but near enough to go out into town. One day we hired a boat for an hour and a half which cost 90 Euros but well worth it. You drive yourself and you can weigh ancor in the quiet bays and go for a swim just make sure nothing valuable is on the boat because if you hit the choppy waves like we did you'll get alot of water on board and everything will get soaked. I highly recommend this holiday its so much fun and the hotel is great and you definately have to go on the sling shot (bungee ball). I'd love to go back again but maybe for 2 weeks as i felt 1 wasn't enough.

Just returned 7th sept from this...

Just returned 7th sept from this hotel. It is about 200 yeard from the last pub on the main club street which means its about 5-8 mins walk to beach. The rooms are very spacious - we had 3 single beds for two of us near the pool area just one floor up. The main hotel goes up to 3 floors with a lift and these have family rooms with a seperate bedroom in. The Air con is free and my word we couldnt have done without it - it was up to 38 degrees in the shade. Most of the rooms have been renovated tastefully and ours had a small plasma tv on the wall which has 3 english chanells inc music one. All have fridge, bath and shower and balcony/patio. If you have 3 or less persons then you probably be near the pool area but if 4 or more then you get a family room which faces outside to the hills.
The maid did the beds and bins daily but think our sheets were changed only once in the 2 weeks. Our shower water also came back up the grate but not a major issue. All rooms have hairdryer too. outside the pool area is very spacious and we never struggled to get beds - some areas are really shaded and as all have a parasol next to 2 beds with a table that you cannot remove then the brolly sometimes provides a nice shade. Georgy the pool guy is the most pleasant man i ever met he works all day and comes back in the eveining - He will find you spare lillos etc. There is outside bar and entertainment area and my gosh the animation team worked hard- Raluka (my boyfriend dumped me), Zollo (shaggy), Neno (rui rui ratatui) and Lazlo (go grease lightening)- they are so energetic and made my 40th birthday memorable. They provided all the entertainment at night exept sat when greek dancers came and were pretty boring. The animation team played games like mr sun palace, miss sun palace, , music quiz, best couple and also there own shows..aLl so funny and not what you would expect - go on and have a go at joining in...
Bingo and mini disco most nights too.
MY reason for giving 9 not 10 was the food - it was easily a 4 star standard and so much variety with every night a different theme but i thought most of the time it was not hot enough but def warm. States long trousers for evening in restaurant but most men wore shorts with no complaints - as long as you are smart casual. no problem getting more than 2 drinks at any of the 2 bars either but never more than 4 at bar.
Has kids park and 2 kids pools as well as internet and pool, table, table tennis, tennis court and footy court - with daily activity by team. Will definately book again. Go to Sofi overroad for money and water park tickets then they will stop charging you commission if you ask. water park is 20 euro which ever way ie on the door or via a shop its great you can either get bus outside for 1 euro each but have to walk cardiac hill - better to flag taxi for 5 euro which takes you up hill or order from hotel at 7 euro. we got taxi to and from airport at 19 euro and then 22 euro back!. They coulkd improve it for me if they palyed more music around pool in day time and did a carvery on a sunday - i know its greece but have been to other hotel where this happens
Overall very very clean and well maintained hotel with some very pleasant staff and def go back here and to faliraki

Just arrived back from the Sun...

Just arrived back from the Sun Palace. What a holiday, fantastic. The hotel is spotlessly clean with all staff seemingly working 25hrs a day and always with a smile. The food was varied with something for everyone and plenty of it. The hotel has its own little shop that surprisingly was very reasonably priced. For me the holiday was made by the animation team, their work ethic is oustanding and aim to ensure you have a great time even if they do appear crazy Raluka and Zolo just had so much energy all the time. Location is ideal. You have the bus stop just outside the hotel which will take you to Rhodes town or the nearby waterpark. If excursions are your thing again directly opposite the hotel you can book many trips all at very reasonable prices. We went to Lindos to see the Acropolis which I would thoroughly recommend. On the beach you have many watersports on offer we used Theo's, only because it was nearest one to us but the staff were brilliant with the kids, very friendly and allowed you onto the boat to take photos for this one I would suggest the Banana Safari, 30 mins ride to the nearby bays and includes swimming into a cave which was an amazing experience.
This has been the best family holiday we have had by far.

We`ve (family of four) just come back...
9 / 10
Jul 2008, Mr C Smith

We`ve (family of four) just come back from a week at the Sun Palace Hotel and had a great holiday. Our main disappointment was with Olympic Holidays but the superb reception staff even sorted that out.
Check-in at the big reception area was quick and we went to our room, where we found the 1st minor problem, the slot where you put the card for the electric was on the floor and the wires were hanging out the wall twisted together,so the electric worked.I took the card slot to reception and they said they'd sort it.So we unpacked and headed for dinner, upon returning to the room, the problem was fixed.
The room itself was a family room with two rooms and a balcony with table and chairs,a TV in both rooms,a fridge,a hairdryer,a dressing table with large mirror, another large mirror on the wall and loads of room for clothes, with a big wardrobe, draws etc and the air con was fantastic. The bathroom was spacious, although another minor problem was the plug in the bath didn`t work (had a screw missing) so I took it out completely, this meant that water sometimes came back up the vent in the floor but not that much of a problem if you put a towel down. The rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels etc..
It`d be nice if they kept these rooms just for families and not put groups of lads/girls in,to keep the noise down although it wasn`t too bad after one lot had left.
Meals: Plenty on offer with fish, pork, chicken, veal, pasta, vegetables, sausage, rice. There`s a seperate bit for the kids(adults use this also).Different theme nights with a barbecue, chinese, italian.
The meals are warm not cold!!
There`s a salad bar with allsorts of things, again changes daily.Fresh bread and rolls.
There`s a soup on every day
There`s cakes,fruit,cheese,ice cream for afters.
Drinks are self-serve with lager (very nice),red/white wine, soft drinks, tea and coffee.
There`s a wide range of choice at breakfast ranging from fruit to pancakes to full english.
The only minor problem I found was that when something ran out it wasn`t replaced quick enough.
Outside of meal times the snack bar is open and it`s not leftovers from breakfast or dinner.
Try the pies,lovely!!
Staff: Absolutely fantastic, very friendly and extremely helpful. The animation team (Raluka,Zolo,Lazlo,Nemo and Tessa)do a superb job, even the bingo is entertaining and they do take no for an answer. The guy who does the pool does a great job, keeps it clean, sometimes still there at 10pm,when it looks wonderful lit up and he`ll find you a sunbed no problem.
Drinks: Plastic glasses for the self-serve soft drinks machine but if you ask at the bar they will give you a glass at night time. The draught lager is very nice, plenty of cocktails to choose from, including a childs one.All different spirits/liquers,be careful if you ask for a strong drink,I had to fetch more lemonade for one of mine.
There`s a shop in the hotel and the shops and bars of Faliraki are just a short walk (5min) away. There`s a bus stop outside or reception will ring you a taxi that`ll be there within 5 mins (arrange a price with the driver before you get in).A taxi to Rhodes Town cost us 15 euros.
It`s a short walk to the beach, careful treading on the sand it`s like treading on hot coals.7 euros for a parasol and 2 sunbeds, there`s a cubicle to get changed in and showers every 100 yards.
We would certainly go back to this hotel and definately think we got our monies worth.

Just returned from another fab...

Jun 2008, Mrs E Reid

Just returned from another fab holiday in the Sun Palace Hotel. We stayed there for two weeks, but would have loved to have stayed longer.
The plane journey was great as we were given a long haul plane which had loads of leg room, so that started us all off for having a good time.
The hotel was spotless, the staff where all really helpful and happy (all except one miserable git). The animation team and their shows where ten times better than last year. La Luca and Zollo really went out the way to make us fell welcome and let you get involved with as much or as little as you liked.
The food, I thought was not quite as good as the year before. However, there is loads of choice for breakfast etc. The hotel has different theme night with the food, and we all said we have never had chinese food like that, (but when in Greece). I think the only complaint would be come lunch time, we would have liked some cold meats or cheese out, just so you could do yourself a light lunch instead of a proper dinner.
They still did the bingo at 9.30 which was a laugh, and we won a few times, which was even better.
They had a kids club run daily, there was quite a few kids in it, however, our son was having too much of a good time in the TWO new pools that they have built since last year to bother going.
All in all we have had a ball and have booked again for next year.........
See you soon.

I have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Sun Palace Hotel in Faliraki and felt it necassary to let people know what a fantastic week we had. Before we arrived at the hotel I had been concerned by some negative reviews that I had read but my experience was the complete opposite.
The hotel rooms were extremely clean with daily maid service. The staff were extremely polite and very helpful and the Animation team were excellent especially with children. The hotel itself is lovely, the pool is the cleanest I have ever seen. The rooms came with a hair dryer, a fridge and air conditioning and plenty of space.
The food was lovely and each night was different with mexican night and gala night to name a few. The only downside I would say was with the variety for lunchtime meals and snacks.
We had an excellent stay in this hotel and I would reccommend it to anyone, especially young people and families.

I went with my best friend and we had...

May 2008, Miss L French

I went with my best friend and we had one of the best holidays ever! The staff were attentive and frienldy and there was always something going on. It was clean and the food was brilliant, lots of variety althougth the local wine left a lot to be desired! One thing to note is that it is not on the beach, the beach is about a 5 minute walk away where you have to pay for sunbeds and parasols but there are plenty avaliable and lots of watersports.
Falaraki as a place surprised us, we thought we would be ambushed with bar crawls and 18-30's groups but surprisngly we weren't although we did go sligtly out of season. It is very english in the centre, but there are plenty of bars and cafes to have fun in. A must see attraction is the water park which is brilliant fun for all ages!
I would really advise going on some excursions, we took a day boat trip to Lindos which is beautifull, and Rhodes old town is a must!
Overall a great holiday and I would recommend the Sun Palace to anyone, families, couples and young groups espcially the all inclusive programme as there is plenty of free alcohol :)
