Hotel very clean, bedrooms the same, food of good standard and plenty of variety and apart from the chef (who does say "very very good" to everything) but he cannot fry eggs!
The bar serves good alcoholic drinks and are not watered down. Daily activities and nightly entertainment is nothing to shout about but its there anyway, tea, coffee etc and food always available.
Extremely good train service in the town to Barcelona and beyond, nice shops and bars in the town as well as a decent beach.
For the cost of the holiday it was good value for money. We went out of season and would probably not go in the height of season, as the pool area in the hotel would not be adequate.
Having said that we would go again out of season. The downside to this hotel is lack of self-control a small minority of brits have with their drinking and there can be a lot of noise at night.
To be fair to the hotel staff though they do not stand for the disturbances and the situation is resolved quickly.
It is in the managements favour how they handle the drunks, how they keep on friendly terms with other holidaymakers regardless but not in their favour, that they serve alcohol to brits from 9am till 1/2pm-plus.
A more acceptable serving time from the management could be drinks from 12 noon till midnight only.
The bedrooms, although kept very clean daily, the walls are very thin, a sense of humour and cotton wool are a must!
Having said all that, most staff very friendly and helpful, good food, clean hotel, small undeveloped friendly town and we would definitely go again out of season.

Submitted By: Mrs A WThe entertainment, great for the kids, Kids club and kids activities daily. Three nice cheerful reps looking after the kids. Night time kids disco till about 10pm and then entertainment,
Food, food and more food. We have no complaints about the food what so ever. As a chef I went with the opinion that we could eat out if the food was not up to my standard, but I was very surprised. Excellent and hot. Their was a man working a griddle with different meats cooking each day, he would cook them well if you asked for it well done, We as with others called him the very, very good man, as he told everyone every day that the food was very, very good. He was right.
You could escape the children and activities by using the roof top terrace, with Jacuzzis
over 18s only very restful and served by its own bar.
Yes I would visit again. We visited 3 more H Top hotels on our travels and this was by far the best.

Submitted By: Mrs Aileen FelvusYou will never find food to suit everyone all the time but on the whole there was very good choice almost around the clock adults only rooftop Jacuzzis sauna gym sports entertainment team who were very friendly any noise was dealt with by hotel security as soon as you called them from your room we are not heavy drinking party people and we still managed to tolerate the people who were the resort is typical old Spain with a great beach and never ending shops and plenty nightclubs for the young (and young at heart - I am 41).
People who complain so much should stay home because you'll never satisfy everyone people should make the best of a holiday and not spend their time looking for faults. Try it yourself with an open mind and enjoy!

Submitted By: Mrs A McCormickNo sleep, noisy teenagers, holiday was ruined before it even started. Well let me tell you, it was the best holiday we have ever had. The boys were so well behaved, especially at meal times, and they were the entertainment at night! The hotel was spotless and the rooms cleaned every day, food was ok and the bar staff were great. When we got to the 2nd last day of our holiday the boys were going home, and we heard on the grapevine that the hotel was closing the next day.
The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, finding another hotel to put us up. We got moved to the Amaika, the hotel was beautiful, 4 star, but it just wasn’t the same as the Osiris. Definitely going back, good value for money.

Submitted By: Mr D.r LeefThe staff were appalling rude who refused to serve my 5 year old son. And you could tell they were talking about you, because you'd be at the bar and they would laugh when they were serving you and laugh when you were gone they did it to almost everyone.
All off the staff had definite attitude problems and the rooms stunk to the high heaven off smells I can’t even describe. The hotel looked grotty and in desperate need of refurbishment (which apparently it is having, however I heard there refurbishment budget is incredibly low, meaning its not going to be magnificently).
The cleaners didn’t have a clue how to clean. The toilets downstairs were disgusting they stunk and had dirt all over them.
This holiday was a nightmare, loads of people were complaining, the food was cold and disgusting making me sick 3 days, my wife found several hairs in several meals (no joke), the rooms were grotty, smelly. I felt like I was living in a rundown orphanage home coming to this hotel.
I have read these reviews loads of times and never really wanted to believe them, but for your sake if you are going to book this hotel DONT!!!!!! Seriously, the brochures photos are untrue and false, the staff are nasty, the holiday was a disaster. I wouldn’t go there again if I was paid (seriously).
If you’re planning to go good luck!!! You WILL regret it.

Submitted By: Mr Tristan JonesThe rooms where basic but clean with a TV witch the hotel would play DVDs throughout the day. The weather was boiling but the sun didn’t shine round the main pool till about 12 noon because the way the hotel was built so it was the beach till then I would catch jellyfish on the peddle boats with a net which was exciting for me because I'd never done it before.
With the shops close by it was easy for refreshment and beach stuff. The bar staff at the Osiris where nice n polite not sure on the plastic glasses though I go to TV lounge to get glass where the waiter (Rashid) was a good laugh even met with him after he finished to hit the clubs till 6 in the morning.
The time I stayed there I think I covered 7 H-TOP hotels Osiris, Olympic, Amika, Pinida Palace, Royal sun, Royal Star and the Royal Beach in Lloret de mar which is like a sister hotel to the Osiris.
The town in Calella is like one big road with shops either side loads to choose from going in august again can’t wait. Calella Palace hear we come plus soon as you get on the coach your holiday starts.

Submitted By: Mr R W McNamaraWe paid 370 pounds for all inclusive in August (1 week) we had a really good time. We had read reviews before we left and couldn't understand what all the fuss was about when we were there.
I would go there again but the weather wasn't great the weather in North Spain is not guaranteed and it was cloudy for the last 3 days. The people who were moaning are the ones who expect to pay for a 3* hotel and get 5* facilities.
On the whole I would definitely go there again.

Submitted By: Miss EK StockleyAs a single mum, it was important for me to have some "time" on my own during the holiday, so I was extremely pleased that the children could join the kids club. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves, dressing as pirates, wizards, and having daytrips to the beach. At these times I enjoyed the adult only rooftop. It has sunbeds, Jacuzzi’s, and a bar......FANTASTIC, peace and quiet!!!
The rooms were clean and comfortable, not exactly modern but better than expected considering some horror stories from other hotels i had heard about. The rooms were cleaned for us twice and I had fresh towels 4 times.
The food was more than acceptable, we enjoyed a cooked breakfast every day (although I did miss the good ole British banger!!!) and lunch and dinner were v.good too. My children enjoyed trying lots of new/fresh fruit. The ice-cream was fantastic too.
We ate at two of the other chain hotels in the area, with our swipe cards, the food was equally good there too.
The staff were friendly, polite, and happy. We regularly email one of the kids club entertainers, and she is visiting us later this year!!
Overall I feel that this hotel definitely deserves its 3* rating, I had an extremely good holiday, I am going back this year.
On a small downside, unfortunately we had some rows outside our window, involving drunken English people, but again I have seen and heard worse..... I guess that’s the price you pay for going to an English tourist spot.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone! ENJOY :)

Submitted By: Ms J BakerWe arrived to a very average reception area - immediately there were kids screaming and running riot. We were offered a larger room, albeit with a smaller balcony which was fine. The reception staff were pleasant enough - and even recommended the Amaika for dinner (one in their chain of hotels) as "people often like the food there" - it got me wondering what was so different about it from their own (but I left that thought behind for short while!)The state of the hotel became apparent straight after leaving the reception area. The hotel was very very badly in need of an update! It looked like somewhere along the line a bit of paint had been applied here and there, but the general appearance was quite shoddy.
On entering our room there was an "old damp" smell about it - it was incredibly basic - with very old fashioned bedding. The bath looked dirty - but it was more an age thing than dirt! We unpacked and took a stroll out. On returning back to the hotel we went for dinner - if it wasn't battered, it had been deep fried just for the hell of it! But I managed to find some chicken and chips and it was ok. After dinner we took a walk to the Amaika to see what we would have had if we'd chosen to eat there! On entering the hotel you immediately get an impression this is an altogether better hotel. It is graded at a higher star rating but this hotel was the basic minimum you'd expect at even a 2* or 3* in our opinion.
The food immediately looked more appetising - certainly there was more choice. We took a peek into a room and it look cleaner and more modern than the hotel we were in. Nevertheless we accepted that we'd got a bargain and knew we'd not be spending too much time at the hotel anyway especially as the beach was close. Around 1030pm we went to our room. One of my friend's was sitting on the balcony when I could suddenly hear a "hissing" sound. I say "hissing" as I daren't actually write what I could hear! Someone was actually urinating on the balcony of the room next door. There was an obvious slope on the balcony and the urine was running into ours!
My friend immediately went to the bathroom to throw some water on the balcony - I politely asked the neighbours if someone was doing this and got no answer - they couldn't hear me I suspect as there was this very very loud Scottish woman who was screeching at very high decibels without taking a breath. I immediately phoned reception to ask them if they could send someone up to clean the balcony as we were unable to use it until this was done, and was informed this couldn't happen until the next day! I told them we were using the balcony and was told there was nothing they could do about it. I immediately rang our rep - she was very helpful and explained she'd contact us the following day as this wasn't the sort of service you'd expect. It was bedtime for most - but for the screecher next door - she wasn't going to shut up.
I am an extremely heavy sleeper and yet was woken no less than 3 times but the yelling and screaming from next door - mainly the woman! Reception did what they could to quieten her - but there was a whole "Brits abroad" mentality whereby she was obviously very drunk - and getting more so by the minute which gave her the right to ruin everyone else sleep! Peace was not to be had. The next day we got up and went to breakfast - whilst there wasn't anything battered - most things were very deep fried an the bacon would have been very good if you shoes needed new soles!
Fortunately the rep did call us and got us moved the Amaika - during the holiday we did venture back to the roof top Jacuzzis as this was child free. But it was very damp and dingy looking and not at all pleasant. The Jacuzzis had a smell about them there was no way I was going to sit in what might have been a steaming bath of germs! Apparently this hotel is closing for a refit - but if you read other reviews it sounds like it had had one! But that's not obvious. This hotel is cheap and nasty. As a travel agent I will now only book it if someone has been there before and knows what to expect. Otherwise I book the Amaika - much nicer.

Bar, reception and restaurant staff were efficient and friendly. Extremely quick service at bar due to a three queue system. Check out the cocktail of the day!! Food nice and hot and loads of choice, even for a veggie like myself. Take advantage of eating and drinking in the other top hotels with your all inclusive pass. The Amaika hotel was lovely for dinner. Also take advantage of the 10 euro trip to the medieval castle.
On the rest of our holiday it was lovely weather polite staff plenty of things to do you would never get bored and the food is absolutely beautiful! I would recommend this holiday to anyone with a family with kids and anyone that wants a nice fun holiday!!!! The white horse bar which is like 2 mins walking from the hotel is brilliant there’s a dance floor and everyone just gets up and shakes their booty! Its fab! I really didn’t want to leave because I had such a good time and a week definitely wasn’t long enough!!! The beach is big and beautiful! The hotel is spotless and clean!

The only thing I can really say about this holiday is it was fab and i would most definitely go there again!!!!
The hotel is fantastic for children as there is loads for them to do including three outdoor and one indoor swimming pools, pool tables, air hockey, children's club (mini disco etc...)
Breakfast is good as are the salads at lunch and dinner but the cooked meals were repetitive especially the childrens buffet. Having said that we didn't go hungry as there was plenty of choice.
Of all the hotels were saw during our stay in Calella, this one seemed the the best. i would certainly recommend this hotel and we are considering returning next year.
