Wyndham Casa Marina Resort

I truly have mixed feelings of this hotel. Although my overall opinion wasn’t as dreadful as other reviews I’ve read, I think the hotel was definitely lacking excellence. Luckily, we didn’t experience any remodeling construction, they appeared to be finished. It could have been a great hotel but many details downsize its ranking to only a good one = nice but small bedroom, a beach but whit no real sand, unfriendly barman, wireless network for $12 a day.....$20 to get the car parked in front of the hotel, $12 to get it parket 50m away. Too close to Duval street to take a taxi but too far to walk, especially for dinner. They could provide bicycles. Go to the Croissants de France (Duval street) for your breakfast and to the NineOneFive for dinning.

If you are looking for a taste of paradise in the United States, we suggest the Casa Marina Resort and Beach Club in Key West, FL. The Resort is located on the south side of the island with it's own meticulous beach. The service was above and beyond our expectations. The staff was attentive, friendly and made sure our stay was nothing short of wonderful. The historic hotel and rooms were well maintained. We will return for many more tropical days in paradise in the future.

Just returned from the Casa Marina from end of Feb to March. Visually, the hotel looks really luxurious but it is really more of a nice conference center kind of place. It is dog friendly though and when asked if there was anywhere a dog couldn't go? the management seemed puzzled. That said, the management seems somewhat removed from really making this a true resort/ultra posh hotel. While the beach is private and gates extend up to the water on either end, we did see people 'crash', with boombox, cooler etc. and get themselves beach chairs... more

My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful stay in mid February 2008 at the Casa Marina Resort and Beach Club in Key West Florida. I was a little leery of staying at the Casa due to the poor reviews stemming from ongoing construction. Great News!!! We loved this hotel. There didn't seem to be any construction so I think they are pretty much finished and boy is it beautiful!! We did pay a pretty penny but it was so worth it. The hotel room was all new, fresh white sheets/linens, new bathroom fixtures, we had a couch in our room, I will post pictures soon. The pool area is awesome, very relaxing, with a great pool bar and beach. We stayed at Casa Marina for four nights from 13th - 17th February on a trip from the U.K. having been assured by the hotel that all renovations were complete. We had a room on the 4th floor near the ocean. There were no guest elevators yet working in the main building or near our room. We were told to use the service elevator which was dirty , slow and inappropriate for guest use. Trips sometimes ended up in the basement where staff took the dirty sheets! If you think your booking at a good 3 star hotel you shouldnt be disapointed. The property has been updated as everyone says but it it was over an older sturcture and you can only do so much with soundproofing and layout. We stayed in one of the ocean view suites which included 2 rooms a balcony and a decent sized bathroom. Being newer its excellent in the condition department but our houscleaning was marginal at best and only included the fast once over. My hubbie and I stayed at another hotel ( The Santa Maria--a very cool retro place that they recently knocked down to build $1 million condos) in 2004 and rode our bikes past the Casa Marina then...so I knew it was a magnificent place. I booked this trip for my mom and myself as a Christmas gift to her knowing that the place had just undergone renovations. Stayed here for 3 nights. Hotel is recent refurbished - one of Flagler's former star hotels. Clean, nice location - 20 minute walk to end south of Duval Street. $10 taxi to Front street. Staff friendly if not too experienced. For the $$$ prices, I think hotel could use better management and staff training. Not really a full service restaurant on site, but $$ breakfast buffet is good. Pools open 24 hours and heated. Nice outside area to relax. Don't come to Key West for beaches, but this beach is stocked with sand for appearance.... more
