" Worst Hotel we have ever stayed in.  "

This is the worst hotel and holiday we have ever had in our lives. Our first holiday in ten years and this is what we got. No way is this a four star hotel, more like a very poor one star. The room was very basic with a black damp patch on the bathroom ceiling. During my first bath some of the plaster came off the ceiling and landed in my face. We did not have the sea view we asked for. There are no tea or coffee making facilities either. We asked to be moved but were told we would have to wait. Called Thompsons and were told everywhere else was booked up. The food here is not fit for a pig, let alone a human being. The staff are very rude, to the point of being aggressive, and on one occasion I was reduced to tears. The staff are also racist. The waiters ignored us all the time but treated the spanish guests much better. The hotel jacuzzi is a joke. You need to be a gymnast to get in it, and it has been drained of all the water. The pool is covered up and is very cold. The area around the pool is in the shade. The drinks are very expensive indeed. The entertainment is aimed for the spanish, and is dire to say the least. Do yourself a big favour and do not come to this hotel for gods sake.

Great resort beaches local shops local. The hotels very expensive for drinks even water! Alot cheaper to go out of hotel especially if you got children. No tea facilities in hotel. Head man at the restaurant needs to 'smile' not welcoming at all. Needs
more childrens entertainment not enough play equipment should be available if NO entertainer available who only comes for half hour a day and '2 days off'. Overall need imrovement. Thomson operator excellent all ways available.

Advice: Benidorm great

" Pleasantly Surprised "

First impression, no way is this a Four Star Hotel. On arrival we noticed that the hotel had been extended, so basically you had a old part and a new part. Which the old part was being refurbished and there was quite a few work men and noises ongoing. Our room was very basic and dated, but clean. We were clearly in the old part of the hotel, does that effect what you pay????As all pictures/details in brochure do not highlight this. But overall we had a great holiday and could not fault the staff and meals. The rep was helpful and always on hand. We hope to return in September.

Advice: Great all year round.

Activities: Walking and takinin in the vue.

" not worth the stars "

very cheerful staff and great location though no views of note.
Run down rooms and no variety in the food though the quality was good.
The pool tends to get crowded, with few deckchairs.
The spanish can be overwhelming during the evening entertainment especially with the spanish artists. However it was easy to roam around benidorm being centrally located.
We particularly liked one chap from Malta, Jon Silver. He managed to give us great entertainment and for once ended up dancing with the Spanish. He is worth watching again.

Advice: if you are not intending to spend much time in it. It is well situated and comfortable.

" Does not deserve 4 star rating. I... "

Does not deserve 4 star rating. I read that the hotel had been refurbished (even described as 'new'?) - not sure where the refurb is but it does not apply to the bedrooms in the lower block. Very dated and shabby/tired with poor shower fittings that flood the floor, wardrobe & balcony doors difficult to close. Tiles on balcony dirty and chipped. Sun terrace on 1st floor had a neglected and shabby air about it - though well supplied with sun beds. Good terrace on 8th floor. Food plain and repetative but something for everyone and good service from waiters/waitresses. Entertainment aimed at Spanish guests. Bar prices double that of local bars. Despite all that we met lots of friendly Brits sharing our hotel and in accommodation nearby and that almost made up for the shabby accommodation.

" We found the rooms clean but very... "

We found the rooms clean but very dated for a four star hotel. The location of the hotel was a bit out of the way for brits. All of the entertainment was aimed at the Spanish but we couldnt fault the food because there was a large selection to choose from. Staff werent that friendly towards the english. But overall our stay in the Benidorm Plaza was great, But we wouldnt go back to that hotel.

" This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel... "

This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel and the facilities probaly justify it but it does not look anywhere near like any of the other 4 star hotels i've stayed in in the past. The front of the hotel looks like a circus with bright pink/purple lights. Few of the staff speak English and are quite rude. The hotel is mainly catered for spanish guests with all of the entertainment (if 2 old blokes singting in a stage is your idea of entertainment) was catered for the spanish too. I know we were in Spain but some English or at least enjoyable entertainment would have been good.
Food was very good and so were the maids.
The pool had a cover and did not get any sun with the pool area getting little period of sunshine during the day.
The hotel is quite a walk from the decent bars - especially in the sun!
Overall a clean hotel but i would not go back.
We were 2 couples on holiday and expected more from this hotel. Quite boring and too far away from the night life. :-(

" This is not a 4 star hotel probably a... "

This is not a 4 star hotel probably a reasonable 3 star. It's a very tired hotel, the pool area leaves a lot to be desired; lack of parasolls, lack of sunbeds and stafff moving the pool furniture around at 3.30pm every day - in preperation for the evening entertainment; which quite honestly is appalling.
The pool has a huge perspex cover, which is probably intended for the winter months, but all it achieved in the summer was to keep the sun from heating the water, hence a cold pool.
We were last here five years ago and my my has it deteriorated in that period, in comparison to the nearby surrounding 4 star hotels.
The food was OK but repetitive, obviously catering more for the Spanish guests. I found the majority of the staff unfriendly towards the British customers and all over the Spanish.
The reception staff were helpful and polite when needed.
The Thomson rep in the information shop was rude impolite and projected a couldn't care attitude.
Apart from that the beach was lovely, but I won't be back to the Benidorm Plaza in a hurry.

" Good variety of food, well presented... "

Good variety of food, well presented and cooked. Hotel building not up to 4 star standard. A little shabby and grubby in places, i.e. tiling and bathroom fittings could be better maintained. Sunbathing areas also shabby and unkempt.
Rooms at front of hotel, overlooking canopy, very noisy as adjacent hotels and Beni Plaza have their deliveries (drinks bottles etc) around dawn... not good unless you are a party animal and I would suggest that the clientelle at this hotel are average 65 years old and Spanish (party animals they aint)!
Good location however near to old and new Benidorm.

" Hotel clean & well situated.... "

Hotel clean & well situated. Staff very friendly and helpful. New Year's Eve Banquet excellent except for under cooked veal!

Food overall not good - poor selection and hot food was very often lukewarm to cold.

" We went on holiday to the Benidorm... "

We went on holiday to the Benidorm Plaza as a late booking. The room was not very big so I asked for a very high room. I asked for an exchange the next morning and they very kindly without problems gave us another room on the 14th floor. Very nice view, overlooking pool and sea.

The restaurant was clean but the food let it down. Too much repetition. One complaint is that we like our food hot, this unfortunately was not, only warm. - Maybe that is how the Spanish people like their food.

Entertainment was good every night.

I love Benidorm, but do not think I would go back to the Benidorm Plaza again.

Sorry folks

" Dated rooms, food good, entertainment... "

Dated rooms, food good, entertainment mainly Spanish. Nice area, bar not too expensive near old and new town. Central for everything, quiet area, good shops.

Beaches were very clean. Hotel could do with up dating, nice staff. I would go back to benidorm. Same area more updated hotel. It claims to be a 4 star may be once, now more like a 3 star. Very clean hotel pool area but old. A lot of elderly people stay there. I would go later on in the season May or September.

" Just got back from a weeks holiday at... "

Just got back from a weeks holiday at this hotel, 2 adults, one infant, and we had a great time. Food is buffet style but constantly changed, and a lot is cooked in front of you. Theme nights add extra variety.

Rooms are clean, and air-conditioned but a little small, however there is plenty of room for the cot (supplied by the hotel). We had a room overlooking the street which was nice and quiet.

Couple of top tips:

Take your store loyalty card with you, and use it instead of the room keycard to keep the aircon going whilst you are out.

The rooms have a minibar, which is 18euros for the entire contents. We only wanted it to keep the baby's food cool. At first reception insisted on us paying the 18euro's but eventually agreed to empty the fridge. They did this for other people too, just ask!

Hot water is available from the restaurant coffee machine, or the poolside bar, and there is a microwave in the restaurant that you can use to heat baby food.

The hotel does not supply a kettle so you can either use the method above or buy a kettle in one of the "souvenir shops" for about 12 euros.

Hotel location is perfect as it is just on the edge of the old town which makes it a pleasant walk to either the shops or the pubs & clubs.

Hotel is a mix of family's and couples, mostly Spanish, Dutch and British.

One last thing. We were worried about the local water, but found it fine even though we only used it for ice and boiling for baby bottles.

" Just spent a week with my partner at... "

Just spent a week with my partner at the Benidorm plaza and had a pleasant stay. The hotel was nice and very clean and the food was good. I did find that the hotel was especially targeted for Spanish holiday makers and the entertainment was all Spanish. The guests were also predominantly Spanish. The hotel was in a handy position for old and new towns and a nice 5 min stroll to the beach. All in all we had a nice holiday, but if you’re looking for a rowdy hotel with groups of young people and lots of brits - this probably wouldn’t be your cup of tea.
