Affinia Dumont Hotel

We stayed at the Affinia Dumont for three nights and it was everything I expected & everything that was written as "Excellent" here on Tripadvisor.com. I really wanted to make sure I was choosing a comfortable, spacious, and not too close to the NYC noise. And that's what we got. We were walkin distance to the subway, a taxi was always easy to get from the hotel, the hotel offered many amenities, the front desk/doorman/housekeeping was superb! It made being away from the kids easy....especially being on our wedding anniversary trip the best couple's trip! :) Also, the Empire State Bldg was only a couple blocks away, along with many shopping...and the blocks around there are "short". Even walking to Times Square would have been easy (20-25 min?) I just can't say enough of this place. We would definitely come back here.

I met my husband, who was presenting at a conference, for a NYC weekend getaway. Hotel in close proximity to Penn Station. Made reservations at the Affinia based on the reviews of this website - I am so glad we did! The rooms were immaculate and the staff was excellent. We had a death in the family and had to leave a day early, and they took care of everything - even stopping a charge for a spa visit I was unable to make (spa was off site) due to the family emergency.

I picked the Dumont from the reviews on this web site and we were not disappointed. We stayed in a studio room which was huge. It had everything we needed. The kitchen had a microwave, huge fridge freezer, full size oven and hob and plenty of utensils - it was immaculately clean. The bathroom had a marble top sink, great bath and powerful shower. The toiletries were Aveda - shampoo, conditioner, mouth wash, soap, shower cap and moisturiser. Nice and plentiful towels. The room had a huge bed which was extremely comfortable. The room lighting was great and the heating just right(you could adjust it to what you wanted). Massive desk with internet connections. Plenty of storage and an in room safe. The reception area is small but comfy and the staff are really good and helpful - nothing too much trouble. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

My wife and I recently spent a week in NYC and used this board to choose the Affinia Dumont. When we arrived, everyone was pleasant and helpful. The hotel had a small grocery next door, which came in handy with the great kitchen in the room. We were on the top floor and has a phenomenal evening view of both the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building from our window. All the services were outstanding and the price was unreal! We will stay here everytime we return to NYC. The subway is nearby, so getting around town is quite easy once you master the transit map. The is an absolute hidden jewel in the Big Apple!

Recently spent 5 nights here in a one-bedroom. Chose this hotel because we needed space and kitchen facilities while one of us recuperated from surgery at a local hospital. Pros: spacious layout, very convenient location, well-equipped clean kitchen, very nice toiletries (Aveda), friendly staff, large screen tv Cons: hallways and apt. walls really needed painting--starting to look shabby; furniture a bit worn; one bedspread had 2 large holes in it and was stained; tub caulking was moldy; heating in apt. was difficult to adjust; apt. did not have dining table and meals had to be taken sitting on the sofa or at the desk. Would recommend this hotel mainly for those who really need space and cooking facilities--good value.

We've just come back from a fantastic stay in NY over Thanksgiving. From first booking the hotel until we left the staff at the hotel have been fantastic, it seemed like nothing was too much trouble for them. The room was spacious and very clean with great views across the city. The Barking Dog restaurant was great, only $7 + tip for a big breakfast. Try Cinema restaurant (out the hotel turn tight and on the junction) for dinner. Got to know the door staff, met Christopher who was a friendly guy and always welcomed us back to the hotel and even gave info about our flight being delayed etc, they seemed to know who we were, when we were leaving etc. If you want to book a car through them they can organise that too which we did although in hindsight we'll probably use Carmel next time. We're hoping to go back next year and will definitely be staying at the Affinia again, money very well spent, enjoy!

I was lucky to get a room in NYC late October and even luckier when I chose Affinia Dumont. I've stayed in NYC a couple times for fun and I know NYC hotel rooms. They are small and cramped. I'm pretty cheap so I really can't afford nicer, more spacious rooms. I only paid $200 or so per night (for 2 nights) at the Affinia and it should've cost me more. The room was MASSIVE compared to all the other rooms ("closets") I've stayed in before. I got the jr. suite. Anyway, it was my boyfriend's birthday present to stay a weekend in NYC and I got major props for choosing this particular hotel. Yes, I got major "props" indeed. Wink* Wink* If you want to get major quantities of "props", stay at the Affinia.

Chose the Dumont as our base of operations for Thanksgiving in NYC this year. We were not disappointed. Our room was large, modern and clean. High speed internet service kept us connected when we wanted to be. The staff was friendly, helpful and happy. They made us feel welcome each time we passed through the lobby area. The location on E34th St. is quiet and safe with all the conveniences around us. We would recommend this property to others.

Best hotel in New York! Great value and service! We will never stay anywhere else again!

Stayed at Ritzs, The Bellevue in Phila, NY Hyatt, and many Marriots but nothing compares to The Affinia Dumont. My husband and I just stayed there last night. I mentioned via online reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary. We arrived to check in and was welcomed with "Happy Anniversary" by front desk staff. We were immediately upgraded to a corner suite on the 34th floor, a large room with amazing views of the city, Aveda bath products AND a dozen pink roses compliments of the hotel. This just doesn't happen to the "not rich and famous". From the moment we stepped in to the time we left, our stay was phenominal. The spa was great and breakfast at the Barking Dog was tasty. Andrey at the front desk was so helpful. He got us reservations to a great restaurant and hailed us a taxi. We were treated like royalty. Being a people watcher, I noticed the other guests were treated the same way. Many were referred to by name and one gentleman said he only stays at the Dumont when in NYC. Unfortunately, with all the great reviews, it will probably be tough to get reservations but I can't imagine staying anywhere else!
